శ్రీ ఆది శఙ్కరాచార్య composed this beautiful stotra, that describes the process of మానస పూజ, which literally means internal worship of Lord శివ. శివ refers to చైతన్య (Consciousness) and this stotra outlines how one can invoke and connect to their internal consciousness without any material items and just by purely imagining to offer the most valuable and expensive things to శివ.
In these five powerful verses, a particular technique of mental worship of Lord శివ is described in detail. The ordinary worship which is performed by using such external objects as incense sticks, trays, etc. is not so powerful as that which is performed by using one’s own mind. A practice is more powerful if the instruments used to perform it are also more powerful. As mind is much more powerful than physical body, mental adoration is accordingly much more powerful than external adoration… and it can be done anywhere, anytime. Which is why, శ్రీ ఆది శఙ్కరాచార్య took the trouble to describe it in his hymn and revealed this valuable process to us to purify our acts.
