ಮಧ್ಯೋದ್ಭವೇ ಭುವ ಇಲಾವೃತನಾಮ್ನಿ ವರ್ಷೇ
ಗೌರೀಪ್ರಧಾನವನಿತಾಜನಮಾತ್ರಭಾಜಿ ।
ಶರ್ವೇಣ ಮಂತ್ರನುತಿಭಿಃ ಸಮುಪಾಸ್ಯಮಾನಂ

Meaning
ಮಧ್ಯ-ಉದ್ಭವೇ ಭುವಃ - in the middle of the earth; ಇಲಾವೃತ-ನಾಮ್ನಿ ವರ್ಷೇ - in the region called Ilaavrata; ಗೌರೀ-ಪ್ರಧಾನ-ವನಿತಾಜನ-ಮಾತ್ರ-ಭಾಜಿ - Gauri as their chief, inhabited solely by women; ಶರ್ವೇಣ - by Lord Shiva (as Ardhnaareeshwara); ಮಂತ್ರ-ನುತಿಭಿಃ - by mantras and hymns; ಸಮುಪಾಸ್ಯಮಾನಂ - (Thou) being worshipped; ಸಂಕರ್ಷಣ-ಆತ್ಮಕಂ- - in the form of Sankarshana; ಅಧೀಶ್ವರ - O Almighty Lord!; ಸಂಶ್ರಯೇ - (I) seek refuge (in); ತ್ವಾಂ - Thee;
Translation
In the middle of the earth is the region called Ilaavrata which is inhabited exclusively by women with Gauri as their chief. I seek refuge in Thee O Lord! Who are present there as Sankarshana and are worshipped with holy chants by Sharva (Shiva) in his 'man-woman' form known as Ardhanaareeshwara.

Meaning
ಭದ್ರಾಶ್ವ-ನಾಮಕ - (known) by rhe name Bhadraashva; ಇಲಾವೃತ-ಪೂರ್ವ-ವರ್ಷೇ - in the region east of Ilaavrata; ಭದ್ರಶ್ರವೋಭಿಃ ಋಷಿಭಿಃ - (where) by the Rishis known as Bhadraashwaras; ಪರಿಣೂಯಮಾನಂ - praised (Thou); ಕಲ್ಪಾಂತ-ಗೂಢ-ನಿಗಮ-ಉದ್ಧರಣ-ಪ್ರವೀಣಂ - at the end of the Kalpa, (which were) lost, the Vedas, in restoring, who is expert, (Thou),; ಧ್ಯಾಯಾಮಿ - I meditate on (Thee); ದೇವ - O Lord!; ಹಯಶೀರ್ಷ-ತನುಂ ಭವಂತಂ - Thou who has taken the form of Hayagreeva;
Translation
In the region known as Bhadraashva, situated to the east of Ilaavrata, O Lord! Thou resides as Hayagreeva. I meditate on this horse-necked form of Thine which is famed as the restorer of the Vedas lost in the deluge at the end of the cosmic cycle. This Hayagreeva form of Thine is worshipped by the Rishis Bhadraashwara with hymns of praises.

Meaning
ಧ್ಯಾಯಾಮಿ - I meditate (on Thee); ದಕ್ಷಿಣಗತೇ ಹರಿವರ್ಷವರ್ಷೇ - towards the south (of Ilaavrata) in Harivarsha; ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದ-ಮುಖ್ಯ-ಪುರುಷೈಃ - by Prahlaad and other leading people; ಪರಿಷೇವ್ಯಮಾಣಂ - (being) worshipped; ಉತ್ತುಂಗ-ಧವಲ-ಆಕೃತಿಂ- - (as one) who is very tall, calm and white in color; ಏಕಶುದ್ಧ-ಜ್ಞಾನ-ಪ್ರದಂ - who bestows the highest pure knowledge; ನರಹರಿಂ - in the form of Narahari; ಭಗವನ್ - O Lord!; ಭವಂತಂ - Thee (I meditate on);
Translation
To the south of Ilaavrata is Harivarsha. There Thou are worshipped by Prahlaad and other leading devotees as Narahari, whose body is tall and white and who is calm and bestows the knowledge of Supreme Brahman. O Lord! I meditate on that form of Thee.

Meaning
ವರ್ಷೇ ಪ್ರತೀಚಿ - in the region to the west of Ilaavrata; ಲಲಿತ-ಆತ್ಮನಿ - in the very beautiful; ಕೇತುಮಾಲೇ - Ketumaala; ಲೀಲಾ-ವಿಶೇಷ-ಲಲಿತ-ಸ್ಮಿತ-ಶೋಭನ-ಅಂಗಂ - with a divine sporting and charming smile, having a resplendent form (Thou); ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮ್ಯಾ - by Lakshmi; ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿಸುತೈಃ ಚ - and by the sons of Prajaapati; ನಿಷೇವ್ಯಮಾಣಂ - worshipped; ತಸ್ಯಾಃ ಪ್ರಿಯಾಯ - for her pleasure; ಧೃತ-ಕಾಮ-ತನುಂ - taking the form of Kaamadeva; ಭಜೇ ತ್ವಾಂ - I worship Thee;
Translation
To the west of Ilaavrata, in the beautiful region of Ketumaalaa, Thou resides as Kaamadeva, for the pleasure of Lakshmi. Thy form is resplendent with a divine sportive and charming smile. Thou are worshipped by Lakshmi and the sons of Prajaapati. I worship Thee.

Meaning
ರಮ್ಯೇ ಹಿ ಉದೀಚಿ ಖಲು - In the beautiful (region) to the north of Ilaavrata; ರಮ್ಯಕ-ನಾಮ್ನಿ ವರ್ಷೇ - in the region called Ramyak; ತತ್-ವರ್ಷ-ನಾಥ-ಮನುವರ್ಯ- - by that region's ruler, Manu; ಸಪರ್ಯಮಾಣಂ - (Thou) being worshipped; ಭಕ್ತ-ಏಕ-ವತ್ಸಲಂ- - (Thou) who is benevolent to His devotees; ಅಮತ್ಸರ-ಹೃತ್ಸು ಭಂತಂ - in the hearts of all pure hearted people (thou) who shines,; ಮತ್ಸ್ಯ-ಆಕೃತಿಂ - in a fish form; ಭುವನನಾಥ - O Lord of the Universe!; ಭಜೇ ಭವಂತಂ - I worship Thee;
Translation
In the beautiful region of Ramyak to the north of Ilaavrata whose ruler Vaivaswata Manu worships Thee in Thy form of a fish. Thou who are very benevolent to Thy devotees and who shine in the hearts of those who are free from attachments, I worship Thee in the form of the fish.

Meaning
ವರ್ಷಂ - the region; ಹಿರಣ್ಮಯ-ಸಮಾಹ್ವಯಂ- - Hiranmaya', known as; ಔತ್ತರಾಹಂ- - to the north (of Ramyak); ಆಸೀನಂ- - residing there; ಅದ್ರಿ-ಧೃತಿ-ಕರ್ಮಠ-ಕಾಮಠ-ಅಂಗಂ - the mountain (Mandaar) bearing, capable of, in the form of the tortoise, on the back; ಸಂಸೇವತೇ - who is worshipped by; ಪಿತೃಗಣ-ಪ್ರವರಃ-ಅರ್ಯಮಾ - the chief of the Pitriganas, Aryamaa,; ಯಂ ತಂ ತ್ವಾಂ - Which,That Thee; ಭಜಾಮಿ ಭಗವನ್ - I worship O Lord!; ಪರಚಿನ್ಮಯ-ಆತ್ಮನ್ - O Supreme Light of Consciousness!;
Translation
The region called Hiranmaya which is to the north of Ramyak, Thou reside there in the form of the huge tortoise that could bear the Mandara mountain on its back. There Thou are worshipped by Aryamaa the famous chief of the Pitris. O Lord! O Supreme Pure Consciousness! I worship Thy that form.

Meaning
ಕಿಂ-ಚ - further; ಉತ್ತರೇಷು - to the north (of Hiranmaya); ಕುರುಷು - (in the region known as) in Kuru; ಪ್ರಿಯಯಾ ಧರಣ್ಯಾ - by Thy consort the Earth; ಸಂಸೇವಿತಃ - well worshipped; ಮಹಿತ-ಮಂತ್ರ-ನುತಿ-ಪ್ರಭೇದೈಃ - by various great mantras and hymns; ದಂಷ್ಟ್ರ-ಅಗ್ರ-ಘೃಷ್ಟ-ಘನ-ಪೃಷ್ಠ-ಗರಿಷ್ಷ್ಠ-ವರ್ಷ್ಮಾ - (Thou whose) tusks' ends touched the clouds with such a huge body; ತ್ವಂ ಪಾಹಿ - Thou protect me; ವಿಜ್ಞ-ನುತ ಯಜ್ಞ-ವರಾಹ-ಮೂರ್ತೇ - by the enlightened ones adored, (O Thou) in the form of the Yanjya Varaaha;
Translation
To the north of Hiranmaya, Thou are worshipped by Thy dear consort the Earth, with the utterances of holy Mantras and hymns of praise. Thou are adored by the wise in the form of Yanjya Varaaha (the divine boar) whose gigantic body rose so high that the tusks' edges rubbed against the clouds. Do protect Thy devotees.

Meaning
ಯಾಮ್ಯಾಂ ದಿಶಂ ಭಜತಿ - situated to the south (of Ilaavrata); ಕಿಂಪುರುಷ-ಆಖ್ಯ-ವರ್ಷೇ - 'Kimpurusha', known as, in that region; ಸಂಸೇವಿತಃ - worshipped; ಹನುಮತಾ - by Hanumaan; ದೃಢ-ಭಕ್ತಿಭಾಜಾ - who has firm devotion to Thee; ಸೀತಾ-ಅಭಿರಾಮ-ಪರಮ-ಅದ್ಭುತ-ರೂಪ-ಶಾಲೀ - (and) Sita is captivated by (Thy) form which is most wonderful and resplendent; ರಮಾತ್ಮಕಃ ಪರಿಲಸನ್ - as Raama shining; ಪರಿಪಾಹಿ - do protect; ವಿಷ್ಣೋ - O Lord! Vishnu!;
Translation
Towards the south of Ilaavrata, residing in the region known as Kimpurusha, Thou are worshipped by Hanumaan with firm and unwavering devotion. O Lord Vishnu! Thou as Raama do shine with a wonderful and resplendent form form that captivates Sita and is made more charming by her presence. Do protect us, O Vishnu!

ಶ್ರೀನಾರದೇನ ಸಹ ಭಾರತಖಂಡಮುಖ್ಯೈ-
ಸ್ತ್ವಂ ಸಾಂಖ್ಯಯೋಗನುತಿಭಿಃ ಸಮುಪಾಸ್ಯಮಾನಃ ।
ಆಕಲ್ಪಕಾಲಮಿಹ ಸಾಧುಜನಾಭಿರಕ್ಷೀ
ನಾರಾಯಣೋ ನರಸಖಃ ಪರಿಪಾಹಿ ಭೂಮನ್ ॥9॥
Meaning
ಶ್ರೀ-ನಾರದೇನ ಸಹ - along with Shree Naarada; ಭಾರತ-ಖಂಡ-ಮುಖ್ಯೈಃ- - by the foremost (devotees) of Bhaaratavarsha; ತ್ವಂ - Thou; ಸಾಂಖ್ಯ-ಯೋಗ-ನುತಿಭಿಃ - with the hymns based on Saankhya and Yoga systems; ಸಮುಪಾಸ್ಯಮಾನಃ - well meditated upon; ಆಕಲ್ಪ-ಕಾಲಂ-ಇಹ - till Pralaya time, here (in Bhaaratavarsha); ಸಾಧುಜನ-ಅಭಿರಕ್ಷೀ - the virtuous protecting,; ನಾರಾಯಣಃ ನರಸಖಃ - (Thou) Naaraayana (who has) and Nara as companion; ಪರಿಪಾಹಿ - do protect; ಭೂಮನ್ - O Lord of the Universe!;
Translation
Along with Naarada, by the leading devotees of Bhaarata region Thou are meditated upon and praised with hymns based on Saankhya and Yoga. In Bhaaratavarsha as Naaraayana with Nara as companion, Thou do reside till Pralaya (deluge) time,for the protection of the virtuous. Deign to protect all devotees.

Meaning
ಪ್ಲಾಕ್ಷೇ-ಅರ್ಕ-ರೂಪಂ- - in Plaaksha, in the form of the Sun; ಅಯಿ - O Thou!; ಶಾಲ್ಮಲೇ ಇಂದುರೂಪಂ - in Shaalmala, in the form of the moon; ದ್ವೀಪೇ ಭಜಂತಿ ಕುಶ-ನಾಮನಿ - in the island named Kusha, people worship,; ವಹ್ನಿ-ರೂಪಂ - (Thee) in the form of Fire; ಕ್ರೌಂಚೇ-ಅಂಬು-ರೂಪಂ- - in Kraunch as water; ಅಥ ವಾಯು-ಮಯಂ ಚ ಶಾಕೇ - and then as wind in Shaaka; ತ್ವಾಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ-ರೂಪಂ-ಅಪಿ - Thee also in the form of Brahmaa; ಪುಷ್ಕರ-ನಾಮ್ನಿ ಲೋಕಾಃ - in (the place) called Pushkara by people (are worshipped);
Translation
O Lord! Thou are worshipped by the people in the form of the sun in Plaaksha, as the Moon in Shaalmala, as fire in Kushadveep, as water in Kraunch, as wind in Shaaka and as Brahmaa in the place named Pushkara.

ಸರ್ವೈರ್ಧ್ರುವಾದಿಭಿರುಡುಪ್ರಕರೈರ್ಗ್ರಹೈಶ್ಚ
ಪುಚ್ಛಾದಿಕೇಷ್ವವಯವೇಷ್ವಭಿಕಲ್ಪ್ಯಮಾನೈಃ ।
ತ್ವಂ ಶಿಂಶುಮಾರವಪುಷಾ ಮಹತಾಮುಪಾಸ್ಯಃ
ಸಂಧ್ಯಾಸು ರುಂಧಿ ನರಕಂ ಮಮ ಸಿಂಧುಶಾಯಿನ್ ॥11॥
Meaning
ಸರ್ಬೈಃ-ಧ್ರುವ-ಆದಿಭಿಃ-ಉಡುಪ್ರಕರೈಃ- - by all, Dhruva etc., the groups of stars; ಗ್ರಹೈಃ-ಚ - and by the planets; ಪುಚ್ಛ-ಆದಿಕೇಷು ಅವಯವೇಷು- - as tail etc., in the limbs; ಅಭಿಕಲ್ಪ್ಯಮಾನೈಃ - imagined; ತ್ವಂ ಶಿಂಶುಮಾರ-ವಪುಷಾ - Thou, the great Fish Sinshumaar bodied; ಮಹತಾಂ-ಉಪಾಸ್ಯಃ - by the enlightened meditated upon; ಸಂಧ್ಯಾಸು - at the (three) Sandhyaas; ರುಂಧಿ ನರಕಂ ಮಮ - eradicate hell (sufferings) of mine; ಸಿಂಧುಶಾಯಿನ್ - O Resident of the Milk Ocean;
Translation
Dhruva - the Pole star, and all the groups of stars and planets who are imagined as forming the limbs and tail of the great Fish Shinshumaar, in that form , Thou are meditated upon by the enlightened ones, at the three Sandhyaas. O Lord! Reposing on the Milk Ocean! deign to eradicate my suffering and my sins.

ಪಾತಾಲಮೂಲಭುವಿ ಶೇಷತನುಂ ಭವಂತಂ

ನೀಲಾಂಬರಂ ಧೃತಹಲಂ ಭುಜಗಾಂಗನಾಭಿ-
ರ್ಜುಷ್ಟಂ ಭಜೇ ಹರ ಗದಾನ್ ಗುರುಗೇಹನಾಥ ॥12॥
Meaning
ಪಾತಾಲ-ಮೂಲ-ಭುವಿ - of Paataala's bottom surface; ಶೇಷ-ತನುಂ ಭವಂತಂ - in Aadishesha's form, Thee; ಲೋಲ-ಐಕ-ಕುಂಡಲ-ವಿರಾಜಿ-ಸಹಸ್ರ-ಶೀರ್ಷಂ - (weith)dangling one earring and shining in the thousand heads; ನೀಲಾಂಬರಂ - wearring a blue garment; ಧೃತ-ಹಲಂ - armed with a plough; ಭುಜಗ-ಅಂಗನಾಭಿಃ-ಜುಷ್ಟಂ - by serpent women worshipped; ಭಜೇ - I adore; ಶೇಷತನುಂ ಭವಂತಂ - the Aadishesha bodied Thee; ಹರ ಗದಾನ್ - eradicate my ailments; ಗುರುಗೇಹನಾಥ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!;
Translation
I worship Thee as Aadishesha the great serpent. Thou residing at the bottom of Paataal, having a thousand heads, which shine with a single ever quivering earing, wearing a blue garment, and having a plough as weapon, are worshipped by Naaga (serpent) damsels. May Thou O Lord of Guruvaayur be pleased to relieve me of my ailments.
