ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತತೋ ಮಗಧಭೂಭೃತಾ ಚಿರನಿರೋಧಸಂಕ್ಲೇಶಿತಂ
ಶತಾಷ್ಟಕಯುತಾಯುತದ್ವಿತಯಮೀಶ ಭೂಮೀಭೃತಾಮ್ ।
ಅನಾಥಶರಣಾಯ ತೇ ಕಮಪಿ ಪೂರುಷಂ ಪ್ರಾಹಿಣೋ-
ದಯಾಚತ ಸ ಮಾಗಧಕ್ಷಪಣಮೇವ ಕಿಂ ಭೂಯಸಾ ॥1॥

Meaning
ತತಃ ಮಗಧ-ಭೂಭೃತಾ - then by the Magadh king; ಚಿರ-ನಿರೋಧ-ಸಂಕ್ಲೇಶಿತಂ - for long detained (and so) tormented; ಶತ-ಅಷ್ಟಕ-ಯುತ-ಅಯುತ-ದ್ವಿತಯಂ- - hundred eights along with ten thousand twice (20800); ಈಶ - O Lord!; ಭೂಮೀಭೃತಾಂ - of kings; ಅನಾಥ-ಶರಣಾಯ ತೇ - for the helpless the only refuge, Thee; ಕಂ-ಅಪಿ ಪೂರುಷಂ - some person; ಪ್ರಾಹಿಣೋತ್-ಅಯಾಚತ ಸ - sent prayed he; ಮಾಗಧ-ಕ್ಷಪಣಂ-ಏವ - Maagadha's (king of Magadha's) killing only; ಕಿಂ ಭೂಯಸಾ - why say much;

Translation
O Lord! The Magadha king Jaraasandh had 20800 kings as captives in his prison. The tormented kings sent a person as a messenger to Thee, the only refuge of the helpless. He prayed to Thee to kill the king of Magadha. What more can be said.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಯಿಯಾಸುರಭಿಮಾಗಧಂ ತದನು ನಾರದೋದೀರಿತಾ-
ದ್ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರಮಖೋದ್ಯಮಾದುಭಯಕಾರ್ಯಪರ್ಯಾಕುಲಃ ।
ವಿರುದ್ಧಜಯಿನೋಽಧ್ವರಾದುಭಯಸಿದ್ಧಿರಿತ್ಯುದ್ಧವೇ
ಶಶಂಸುಷಿ ನಿಜೈಃ ಸಮಂ ಪುರಮಿಯೇಥ ಯೌಧಿಷ್ಠಿರೀಮ್ ॥2॥

Meaning
ಯಿಯಾಸುಃ- - desiring to attack; ಅಭಿಮಾಗಧಂ - against the king of Magadha; ತದನು ನಾರದ-ಉದೀರಿತಾತ್- - after that, by Naarada's saying; ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರ-ಮಖ-ಉದ್ಯಮಾತ್- - Yudhishthiraa's sacrifice preparations; ಉಭಯ-ಕಾರ್ಯ-ಪರ್ಯಾಕುಲಃ - both the jobs priority (thinking); ವಿರುದ್ಧ-ಜಯಿನಃ-ಅಧ್ವರಾತ್- - enemies conquering and the sacrifice; ಉಭಯ-ಸಿದ್ಧಿಃ-ಇತಿ- - both undertaken thus; ಉದ್ಧವೇ ಶಶಂಸುಷಿ - by Udhdhava being advised; ನಿಜೈಃ ಸಮಂ - with Thy people; ಪುರಂ-ಇಯೇಥ - to the city went; ಯೌಧಿಷ್ಠಿರೀಂ - of Yudhishthira;

Translation
Then eager to attack Jaraasandha, the king of Magadha, Thou were informed by Naarada that Yudhishthira was preparing to perform the Raajasooya Yagna. Thou were in a fix as to which of the two Thou should attend to. Udhdhava pointed that the sacrifice demanded that all the enemies be conquered, so by attending the sacrifice both the purposes will be fulfilled. With Thy followers Thou proceeded to attend the Raajsooya Yagna in Yudhishthiraa's city Indraprastha.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಅಶೇಷದಯಿತಾಯುತೇ ತ್ವಯಿ ಸಮಾಗತೇ ಧರ್ಮಜೋ
ವಿಜಿತ್ಯ ಸಹಜೈರ್ಮಹೀಂ ಭವದಪಾಂಗಸಂವರ್ಧಿತೈಃ ।
ಶ್ರಿಯಂ ನಿರುಪಮಾಂ ವಹನ್ನಹಹ ಭಕ್ತದಾಸಾಯಿತಂ
ಭವಂತಮಯಿ ಮಾಗಧೇ ಪ್ರಹಿತವಾನ್ ಸಭೀಮಾರ್ಜುನಮ್ ॥3॥

Meaning
ಅಶೇಷ-ದಯಿತಾ-ಯುತೇ - all the wives along with; ತ್ವಯಿ ಸಮಾಗತೇ - Thou having reached; ಧರ್ಮಜಃ ವಿಜಿತ್ಯ - Dharmaputra having conquered; ಸಹಜೈಃ-ಮಹೀಂ - with the brothers the earth; ಭವತ್-ಅಪಾಂಗ-ಸಂವರ್ಧಿತೈಃ - by Thy gracious glances (who had) grown in strength; ಶ್ರಿಯಂ ನಿರುಪಮಾಂ - wealth incomparable; ವಹನ್-ಅಹಹ - bearing, oh; ಭಕ್ತ-ದಾಸಾಯಿತಂ - of the devotees, services meeting; ಭವಂತಂ-ಅಯಿ - Thee Oh Thou; ಮಾಗಧೇ ಪ್ರಹಿತವಾನ್ - to Jaraasandh sent; ಸಭೀಮ-ಅರ್ಜುನಂ - along with Bheem and Arjuna;

Translation
Thou reached Indraprastha along with all Thy wives. Enhanced in strength by Thy gracious glances, Dharmaputra with his brothers conquered all the opponents and amassed incomparable wealth. Oh Thou who are the servant of Thy devotees was then sent by Yudhishthira to Jaraasandha along with Bheem and Arjuna.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಗಿರಿವ್ರಜಪುರಂ ಗತಾಸ್ತದನು ದೇವ ಯೂಯಂ ತ್ರಯೋ
ಯಯಾಚ ಸಮರೋತ್ಸವಂ ದ್ವಿಜಮಿಷೇಣ ತಂ ಮಾಗಧಮ್ ।
ಅಪೂರ್ಣಸುಕೃತಂ ತ್ವಮುಂ ಪವನಜೇನ ಸಂಗ್ರಾಮಯನ್
ನಿರೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಸಹ ಜಿಷ್ಣುನಾ ತ್ವಮಪಿ ರಾಜಯುದ್ಧ್ವಾ ಸ್ಥಿತಃ ॥4॥

Meaning
ಗಿರಿವ್ರಜಪುರಂ - to the city of Girivraja; ಗತಾಃ-ತದನು - went then; ದೇವ ಯೂಯಂ ತ್ರಯಃ - O Lord Thou three; ಯಯಾಚ ಸಮರ-ಉತ್ಸವಂ - asked for a duel festival; ದ್ವಿಜ-ಮಿಷೇಣ - in a Braahmina's guise; ತಂ ಮಾಗಧಂ - to that king of Magadha; ಅಪೂರ್ಣ-ಸುಕೃತಂ - short of good deeds; ತು-ಅಮುಂ - indeed him; ಪವನಜೇನ ಸಂಗ್ರಾಮಯನ್ - with Bheem making him fight; ನಿರೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಸಹ ಜಿಷ್ಣುನಾ - seeing with Arjuna; ತ್ವಂ-ಅಪಿ - Thou also; ರಾಜ-ಯುದ್ಧ್ವಾ ಸ್ಥಿತಃ - as making two kings fight remained;

Translation
O Lord! Thou three then went to Girivraja the capital of Jaraasandha. In the guise of Braahmins Thou asked for a festival of dual. Thou made the king of Magadha, Jaraasandha, who was lacking in good deeds, fight with Bheem. Meanwhile, Thou and Arjuna remained as onlookers and 'Raajayudhva' i.e. who make kings fight.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಅಶಾಂತಸಮರೋದ್ಧತಂ ಬಿಟಪಪಾಟನಾಸಂಜ್ಞಯಾ
ನಿಪಾತ್ಯ ಜರರಸ್ಸುತಂ ಪವನಜೇನ ನಿಷ್ಪಾಟಿತಮ್ ।
ವಿಮುಚ್ಯ ನೃಪತೀನ್ ಮುದಾ ಸಮನುಗೃಹ್ಯ ಭಕ್ತಿಂ ಪರಾಂ
ದಿದೇಶಿಥ ಗತಸ್ಪೃಹಾನಪಿ ಚ ಧರ್ಮಗುಪ್ತ್ಯೈ ಭುವಃ ॥5॥

Meaning
ಅಶಾಂತ್-ಸಮರ-ಉದ್ಧತಂ - in the fierce fight (who had become) arrogant; ವಿಟಪ-ಪಾಟನಾ-ಸಂಜ್ಞಯಾ - twig splitting hinting at; ನಿಪಾತ್ಯ ಜರಸಃ-ಸುತಂ - felling down Jaraa's son (Jaraasandh); ಪವನಜೇನ ನಿಷ್ಪಾಟಿತಂ - by Bheem was split up; ವಿಮುಚ್ಯ ನೃಪತೀನ್ - releasing the kings; ಮುದಾ ಸಮನುಗೃಹ್ಯ - happily blessing them; ಪರಾಂ ಭಕ್ತಿಂ ದಿದೇಶಿಥ - supreme devotion gave; ಗತಃ ಸ್ಪೃಹಾನ್-ಅಪಿ - (who had) overcome all desires even; ಚ ಧರ್ಮ-ಗುಪ್ತೈ ಭುವಃ - and for ethically ruling the earth;

Translation
Arrogant Jaraasandha was fighting ferociously in the battle. Thou gave a hint to Bheema (that Jaraa's son could be killed by splitting) by splitting a twig. Bheema then tore Jaraasandha apart and killed him. The captive kings were then released and Thou happily blessed them with supreme devotion. They were all devoid of all desire, yet Thou engaged them to rule the earth ethically and as per Dharma.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಪ್ರಚಕ್ರುಷಿ ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರೇ ತದನು ರಾಜಸೂಯಾಧ್ವರಂ
ಪ್ರಸನ್ನಭೃತಕೀಭವತ್ಸಕಲರಾಜಕವ್ಯಾಕುಲಮ್ ।
ತ್ವಮಪ್ಯಯಿ ಜಗತ್ಪತೇ ದ್ವಿಜಪದಾವನೇಜಾದಿಕಂ
ಚಕರ್ಥ ಕಿಮು ಕಥ್ಯತೇ ನೃಪವರಸ್ಯ ಭಾಗ್ಯೋನ್ನತಿಃ ॥6॥

Meaning
ಪ್ರಚಕ್ರುಷಿ - when performing; ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರೇ - Yudhishthira; ತದನು - then; ರಾಜಸೂಯ-ಅಧ್ವರಂ - the Raajasooya Yagna; ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ-ಭೃತಕೀ-ಭವತ್- - happily as servants becoming all the kings; ಸಕಲ-ರಾಜಕ-ವ್ಯಾಕುಲಂ - all the kings; ವ್ಯಕುಲಂ-ತ್ವಂ-ಅಪಿ- - eagerly Thou also; ಅಯಿ ಜಗತ್ಪತೇ - O Thou Lord of the world!; ದ್ವಿಜ-ಪದ-ಅವನೇಜ- - Braahmina's feet washing; ಆದಿಕಂ ಚಕರ್ಥ - etc performed; ಕಿಮು ಕಥ್ಯತೇ - what can be said; ನೃಪ-ವರಸ್ಯ - of the great king's; ಭಾಗ್ಯ-ಉನ್ನತಿಃ - fortune upliftment;

Translation
Yudhishthira was then performing the Raajsooya Yagna during which all the kings were joyfully performing the work allotted to them as servants. Thou O Lord of the Universe! Also were engaged in washing the feet of the holy men and the Braahmins etc. What can be said about the upliftment of the good fortune of the great king Yudhishthira?

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತತಃ ಸವನಕರ್ಮಣಿ ಪ್ರವರಮಗ್ರ್ಯಪೂಜಾವಿಧಿಂ
ವಿಚಾರ್ಯ ಸಹದೇವವಾಗನುಗತಃ ಸ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಜಃ ।
ವ್ಯಧತ್ತ ಭವತೇ ಮುದಾ ಸದಸಿ ವಿಶ್ವಭೂತಾತ್ಮನೇ
ತದಾ ಸಸುರಮಾನುಷಂ ಭುವನಮೇವ ತೃಪ್ತಿಂ ದಧೌ ॥7॥

Meaning
ತತಃ ಸವನ-ಕರ್ಮಣಿ - then in the sacrificial rite; ಪ್ರವರರಂ-ಅಗ್ರ್ಯ-ಪೂಜಾ-ವಿಧಿಂ - the important person's worship system; ವಿಚಾರ್ಯ - foremost considering; ಸಹದೇವ-ವಾಕ್-ಅನುಗತಃ - Sahadeva's advice following; ಸ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಜಃ - that Dharmaputra Yudhishthira; ವ್ಯಧತ್ತ ಭವತೇ - performed to Thee; ಮುದಾ ಸದಸಿ - in the delighted assembly; ವಿಶ್ವಭೂತಾತ್ಮನೇ - to Thee, the Soul of the whole Universe; ತದಾ ಸ-ಸುರ-ಮಾನುಷಂ - then along with the gods and humans; ಭುವನಂ-ಏವ - the entire universe; ತೃಪ್ತಿಂ ದಧೌ - satisfaction gave;

Translation
According to the system of the sacrificial rite the most noteworthy of the guests assembled was honoured and worshipped foremost. While Yudhishthira was considering, he followed Sahadeva's advice and performed this worship to Thee, the Soul of the whole Universe. This gave great satisfaction to everyone, gods and humans alike.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತತಃ ಸಪದಿ ಚೇದಿಪೋ ಮುನಿನೃಪೇಷು ತಿಷ್ಠತ್ಸ್ವಹೋ
ಸಭಾಜಯತಿ ಕೋ ಜಡಃ ಪಶುಪದುರ್ದುರೂಟಂ ವಟುಮ್ ।
ಇತಿ ತ್ವಯಿ ಸ ದುರ್ವಚೋವಿತತಿಮುದ್ವಮನ್ನಾಸನಾ-
ದುದಾಪತದುದಾಯುಧಃ ಸಮಪತನ್ನಮುಂ ಪಾಂಡವಾಃ ॥8॥

Meaning
ತತಃ ಸಪದಿ ಚೇದಿಪಃ - then at once, the king of Chedi; ಮುನಿ-ನೃಪೇಷು - the sages and kings; ತಿಷ್ಠತ್ಸು-ಅಹೋ - being present, strangely; ಸಭಾ-ಜಯತಿ - the assembly is honouring; ಕಃ ಜಡಃ - which fool; ಪಶುಪ-ದುರ್ದುರೂಟಂ ವಟುಂ - a cowherd corrupt boy; ಇತಿ ತ್ವಯಿ ಸ - thus to Thee he; ದುರ್ವಚಃ-ವಿತತಂ- - abusive words' string; ಉದ್ವಮನ್- - spitting out; ಆಸನಾತ್-ಉದಾಪತತ್- - from his seat sprang up; ಉದಾಯುಧಃ - flourishing weapons; ಸಮಪತನ್-ಅಮುಂ - confronted him; ಪಾಂಡವಾಃ - the Pandavas;

Translation
Just then, at once, the king of Chedi, sprang up from his seat hurling a string of abusive words to Thee, 'In this assembly, in the presence of great sages and kings, which fool is honouring this corrupt cowherd boy?' he exclaimed. Saying so he flourished his weapons and was soon confronted by the Paandavas.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ನಿವಾರ್ಯ ನಿಜಪಕ್ಷಗಾನಭಿಮುಖಸ್ಯವಿದ್ವೇಷಿಣ-
ಸ್ತ್ವಮೇವ ಜಹೃಷೇ ಶಿರೋ ದನುಜದಾರಿಣಾ ಸ್ವಾರಿಣಾ ।
ಜನುಸ್ತ್ರಿತಯಲಬ್ಧಯಾ ಸತತಚಿಂತಯಾ ಶುದ್ಧಧೀ-
ಸ್ತ್ವಯಾ ಸ ಪರಮೇಕತಾಮಧೃತ ಯೋಗಿನಾಂ ದುರ್ಲಭಾಮ್ ॥9॥

Meaning
ನಿವಾರ್ಯ ನಿಜ-ಪಕ್ಷಗಾನ್ - deterring Thy allies; ಅಭಿಮುಖಸ್ಯ ವಿದ್ವೇಷಿಣಃ- - confronting the adversary; ತ್ವಂ-ಏವ ಜಹೃಷೇ ಶಿರಃ - Thou alone cut off head; ದನುಜ-ದಾರಿಣಾ ಸ್ವ-ಅರಿಣಾ - the Asura's cutting Thy discus; ಜನುಃ-ತ್ರಿತಯ-ಲಬ್ಧಯಾ - in births three gaining; ಸತತ-ಚಿಂತಯಾ - constantly thinking (of Thee); ಶುದ್ಧ-ಧೀಃ-ತ್ವಯಾ ಸ - purified minded with Thee he; ಪರ-ಏಕತಾಂ-ಅಧೃತ - supreme union attained; ಯೋಗಿನಾಂ ದುರ್ಲಭಾಂ - to Yogis difficult to attain;

Translation
Thou deterred Thy allies, the Pandavas and Thyself cut off the head of the advancing adversary with Thy discus which cuts the Asuras. Chedi had gained a purified mind through his three births (as Hiranyakashipu, Raavana and Shishupa),where he was constantly thinking of Thee. Thus he attained the supreme union with Thee which is not easily attained by the Yogis.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತತಃ ಸುಮಹಿತೇ ತ್ವಯಾ ಕ್ರತುವರೇ ನಿರೂಢೇ ಜನೋ
ಯಯೌ ಜಯತಿ ಧರ್ಮಜೋ ಜಯತಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಇತ್ಯಾಲಪನ್।
ಖಲಃ ಸ ತು ಸುಯೋಧನೋ ಧುತಮನಾಸ್ಸಪತ್ನಶ್ರಿಯಾ
ಮಯಾರ್ಪಿತಸಭಾಮುಖೇ ಸ್ಥಲಜಲಭ್ರಮಾದಭ್ರಮೀತ್ ॥10॥

Meaning
ತತಃ ಸುಮಹಿತೇ - then the great; ತ್ವಯಾ ಕ್ರತುವರೇ - by Thee the highest sacrifice; ನಿರೂಢೇ ಜನಃ-ಯಯೌ - being completed, people went away; ಜಯತಿ ಧರ್ಮಜಃ - victory to Dharmaputra; ಜಯತಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣ - victory to Krishna; ಇತಿ-ಆಲಪನ್ - thus proclaiming; ಖಲಃ ಸ ತು - wicked he indeed; ಸುಯೋಧನ ಧುತಮನಾಃ- - Duryodhana, jealous minded; ಸಪತ್ನ-ಶ್ರಿಯಾ - by the enemy's prosperity; ಮಯ-ಅರ್ಪಿತ-ಸಭಾ-ಮುಖೇ - by Maya built the assembly hall in front (of that); ಸ್ಥಲ-ಜಲ-ಭ್ರಮಾತ್- - floor and water mistaking (for each other); ಅಭ್ರಮೀತ್ - was confused;

Translation
Then the most holy and elaborate sacrifice, the Raajasooya Yagna being completed by Thee, the people returned loudly acclaiming Thee and Yudhishthira. The wicked Duryodhana's mind was full of jealousy at the sight of the enemy's prosperity. He was all the more confused when he mistook the floor for water and water for floor in front of the assembly hall which was built by the Asura's architect Maya, for the Pandavas.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತದಾ ಹಸಿತಮುತ್ಥಿತಂ ದ್ರುಪದನಂದನಾಭೀಮಯೋ-
ರಪಾಂಗಕಲಯಾ ವಿಭೋ ಕಿಮಪಿ ತಾವದುಜ್ಜೃಂಭಯನ್ ।
ಧರಾಭರನಿರಾಕೃತೌ ಸಪದಿ ನಾಮ ಬೀಜಂ ವಪನ್
ಜನಾರ್ದನ ಮರುತ್ಪುರೀನಿಲಯ ಪಾಹಿ ಮಾಮಾಮಯಾತ್ ॥11॥

Meaning
ತದಾ ಹಸಿತಂ-ಉತ್ಥಿತಂ - then the laughter which arose; ದ್ರುಪದನಂದನಾ-ಭೀಮಯೋಃ- - of Draupadi and Bheema; ಅಪಾಂಗ-ಕಲಯಾ - by the corner of the eyes glancing; ವಿಭೋ ಕಿಮಪಿ ತಾವತ- - O Lord! A little then; ಉಜ್ಜೃಂಭಯನ್ - encouraging; ದಧರಾ-ಭರ-ನಿರಾಕೃತೌ - the earth's burden to remove; ಸಪದಿ ನಾಮ - immediately indeed; ಬೀಜಂ ವಪನ್ - seed sowing; ಜನಾರ್ದನ - O All pervading Lord!; ಮರುತ್ಪುರೀನಿಲಯ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; ಪಾಹಿ ಮಾಂ-ಆಮಯಾತ್ - save me from ailments;

Translation
O Lord! Then a loud laughter arose from Draupadi and Bheema instigated somewhat by Thy side long glances. O All pervading Lord! Immediately indeed the seed was sown by Thee to rid the earth of its burden. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Save me from my ailments.
