ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಬಲಸಮೇತಬಲಾನುಗತೋ ಭವಾನ್ ಪುರಮಗಾಹತ ಭೀಷ್ಮಕಮಾನಿತಃ ।
ದ್ವಿಜಸುತಂ ತ್ವದುಪಾಗಮವಾದಿನಂ ಧೃತರಸಾ ತರಸಾ ಪ್ರಣನಾಮ ಸಾ ॥1॥

Meaning
ಬಲ-ಸಮೇತ- - along with an army; ಬಲ-ಅನುಗತಃ - by Balaraam followed; ಭವಾನ್ - (were) Thou; ಪುರಮ್-ಅಗಾಹತ - the city of (Kundina) entered; ಭೀಷ್ಮಕ-ಮಾನಿತಃ - Bhishmaka honoured (Thee and Balaraam); ದ್ವಿಜ-ಸುತಂ - to the Braahmin boy; ತ್ವತ್-ಉಪಾಗಮ-ವಾದಿನಂ - who Thy coming had announced; ಧೃತರಸಾ ತರಸಾ - with joy at once; ಪ್ರಣನಾಮ ಸಾ - prostrated she (Rukmini);

Translation
Thou were respectfully received along with Balaraam who had followed Thee with an army, by king Bhishmaka, as Thou entered the city of Kundina. Rukmini at once honoured the Braahmin boy with salutations who gave her the news of Thy arrival in the city.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಭುವನಕಾನ್ತಮವೇಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಭವದ್ವಪುರ್ನೃಪಸುತಸ್ಯ ನಿಶಮ್ಯ ಚ ಚೇಷ್ಟಿತಮ್ ।
ವಿಪುಲಖೇದಜುಷಾಂ ಪುರವಾಸಿನಾಂ ಸರುದಿತೈರುದಿತೈರಗಮನ್ನಿಶಾ ॥2॥

Meaning
ಭುವನ-ಕಾನ್ತಮ್-ಅವೇಕ್ಷ್ಯ - in the world most beautiful (Thee) seeing; ಭವತ್-ವಪುಃ- - Thy form; ನೃಪ-ಸುತಸ್ಯ - the king's son's (Rukmi's); ನಿಶಮ್ಯ ಚ ಚೇಷ್ಟಿತಮ್ - hearing the effort; ವಿಪುಲ-ಖೇದ-ಜುಷಾಮ್ - great sorrow overcome with; ಪುರ-ವಾಸಿನಾಂ - the public (of Kundina); ಸರುದಿತೈಃ-ಉದಿತೈಃ- - with tears speaking about; ಅಗಮತ್-ನಿಶಾ - spent the night;

Translation
The public of Kundina saw Thy most beautiful form in the world, and heard about the ill effort of Rukmi, the king's son. They were smitten with great sorrow with the state of affairs in the city and spent a sleepless night sadly and tearfully talking about it all.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತದನು ವನ್ದಿತುಮಿನ್ದುಮುಖೀ ಶಿವಾಂ ವಿಹಿತಮಙ್ಗಲಭೂಷಣಭಾಸುರಾ ।
ನಿರಗಮತ್ ಭವದರ್ಪಿತಜೀವಿತಾ ಸ್ವಪುರತಃ ಪುರತಃ ಸುಭಟಾವೃತಾ ॥3॥

Meaning
ತದನು ವನ್ದಿತುಮ್- - then to worship; ಇನ್ದುಮುಖೀ ಶಿವಾಂ - the moon faced (Rukmini), Paarvati; ವಿಹಿತ-ಮಙ್ಗಲ- - adorning auspicious; ಭೂಷಣ-ಭಾಸುರಾ - ornaments (and attire) shining; ನಿರಗಮತ್ - came out; ಭವತ್-ಅರ್ಪಿತ-ಜೀವಿತಾ - to Thee having dedicated her life; ಸ್ವಪುರತಃ ಪುರತಃ - of her chambers, in front; ಸುಭಟ-ಆವೃತಾ - by guards surrounded;

Translation
Then, the next morning, the moon faced beauty Rukmini, who had already dedicated her life to Thee, came out of her chambers to worship Paarvati. She was bedecked with auspicious ornaments and attire and was well surrounded by the guards.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಕುಲವಧೂಭಿರುಪೇತ್ಯ ಕುಮಾರಿಕಾ ಗಿರಿಸುತಾಂ ಪರಿಪೂಜ್ಯ ಚ ಸಾದರಮ್ ।
ಮುಹುರಯಾಚತ ತತ್ಪದಪಙ್ಕಜೇ ನಿಪತಿತಾ ಪತಿತಾಂ ತವ ಕೇವಲಮ್ ॥4॥

Meaning
ಕುಲ-ವಧುಭಿಃ-ಉಪೇತ್ಯ - with the noble women reaching; ಕುಮಾರಿಕಾ - the princess; ಗಿರಿಸುತಾಂ ಪರಿಪೂಜ್ಯ - Paarvati worshipped with fervour; ಚ ಸಾದರಮ್ - and with reverence; ಮುಹುಃ-ಅಯಾಚತ - again and again prayed; ತತ್-ಪದ-ಪಙ್ಕಜೇ - on her lotus feet; ನಿಪತಿತಾ - prostrating; ಪತಿತಾಂ ತವ ಕೇವಲಂ - as husband Thee only;

Translation
The princess reached the temple of goddess Paarvati in the company of noble women. With great reverence and fervour she worshipped the goddess and prostrated at her feet praying again and again that Thou alone be her husband.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಸಮವಲೋಕಕುತೂಹಲಸಙ್ಕುಲೇ ನೃಪಕುಲೇ ನಿಭೃತಂ ತ್ವಯಿ ಚ ಸ್ಥಿತೇ ।
ನೃಪಸುತಾ ನಿರಗಾದ್ಗಿರಿಜಾಲಯಾತ್ ಸುರುಚಿರಂ ರುಚಿರಞ್ಜಿತದಿಙ್ಮುಖಾ ॥5॥

Meaning
ಸಮವಲೋಕ- - the sight (of Rukmini); ಕುತೂಹಲ-ಸಙ್ಕುಲೇ - expecting (to see) joyfully gathered; ನೃಪ-ಕುಲೇ - the assembly of kings; ನಿಭೃತಂ ತ್ವಯಿ - silently aloof when Thou; ಚ ಸ್ಥಿತೇ - and were standing; ನೃಪ-ಸುತಾ ನಿರಗಾತ್- - the princess came out; ಗಿರಿಜಾ-ಆಲಯಾತ್ - from goddess Paarvati's temple; ಸುರುಚಿರಂ - in a charming manner; ರುಚಿರ-ರಞ್ಜಿತ- - brilliantly lighting; ದಿಕ್-ಮುಖಾ - the quarters;

Translation
The assembly of kings had gathered joyfully with the expectation to see Rukmini. Thou stood among them in a silently aloof manner. Just then the princess came out of the temple of goddess Paarvati, in a charming manner causing the quarters to light up with her brilliance.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಭುವನಮೋಹನರೂಪರುಚಾ ತದಾ ವಿವಶಿತಾಖಿಲರಾಜಕದಮ್ಬಯಾ ।
ತ್ವಮಪಿ ದೇವ ಕಟಾಕ್ಷವಿಮೋಕ್ಷಣೈಃ ಪ್ರಮದಯಾ ಮದಯಾಞ್ಚಕೃಷೇ ಮನಾಕ್ ॥6॥

Meaning
ಭುವನ-ಮೋಹನ- - the world enchanting; ರೂಪ-ರುಚಾ ತದಾ - beauty enthralling then; ವಿವಶಿತ-ಅಖಿಲ- - bewitched the entire; ರಾಜ-ಕದಮ್ಬಯಾ - king's assembly; ತ್ವಮ್-ಅಪಿ ದೇವ - Thou also O Lord!; ಕಟಾಕ್ಷ-ವಿಮೋಕ್ಷಣೈಃ - by sidelong glances casting; ಪ್ರಮದಯಾ - by the enchanting one (Rukmini); ಮದಯಾನ್-ಚಕೃಷೇ - were enchanted; ಮನಾಕ್ - somewhat;

Translation
Then the enthralling beauty Rukmini bewitched the entire assembly of kings gathered there. Thou also, O Lord! Were somewhat enchanted by her as she cast her sidelong glances.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಕ್ವನು ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಸಿ ಚನ್ದ್ರಮುಖೀತಿ ತಾಂ ಸರಸಮೇತ್ಯ ಕರೇಣ ಹರನ್ ಕ್ಷಣಾತ್ ।
ಸಮಧಿರೋಪ್ಯ ರಥಂ ತ್ವಮಪಾಹೃಥಾ ಭುವಿ ತತೋ ವಿತತೋ ನಿನದೋ ದ್ವಿಷಾಮ್ ॥7॥

Meaning
ಕ್ವನು ಗಮಿಷ್ಯಸಿ - where indeed are you going; ಚನ್ದ್ರಮುಖೀ-ಇತಿ - O Moon faced one! Thus; ತಾಂ ಸರಸಮ್-ಏತ್ಯ - her quickly reaching; ಕರೇಣ ಹರನ್ ಕ್ಷಣಾತ್ - by hand leading away instantly; ಸಮಧಿರೋಪ್ಯ ರಥಂ - helping her in the chariot; ತ್ವಮ್-ಅಪಾಹೃಥಾ - Thou carried away; ಭುವಿ ತತಃ ವಿತತಃ - all over the earth then spreading; ನಿನದಃ ದ್ವಿಷಾಮ್ - loud protest among the enemies;

Translation
Addressing her admiringly, Thou asked her, 'O moon-faced one! where indeed are you going?' Thou hastily reached her and holding her by her arm Thou led her to the chariot and helping her in it, Thou carried her away. Whereupon there spread a loud protest among Thy rivals.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಕ್ವ ನು ಗತಃ ಪಶುಪಾಲ ಇತಿ ಕ್ರುಧಾ ಕೃತರಣಾ ಯದುಭಿಶ್ಚ ಜಿತಾ ನೃಪಾಃ ।
ನ ತು ಭವಾನುದಚಾಲ್ಯತ ತೈರಹೋ ಪಿಶುನಕೈಃ ಶುನಕೈರಿವ ಕೇಸರೀ ॥8॥

Meaning
ಕ್ವ ನು ಗತಃ - where indeed has he gone; ಪಶುಪಾಲ ಇತಿ - the cowherd, thus; ಕ್ರುಧಾ ಕೃತರಣಾ - enraged (and) fighting; ಯದುಭಿಃ-ಚ - by the Yadus, and; ಜಿತಾಃ-ನೃಪಾಃ - won over, the kings; ನ ತು ಭವಾನ್- - not indeed Thou; ಉದಚಾಲ್ಯತ - were to be swayed; ತೈಃ-ಅಹೋ - by them, O what a wonder!; ಪಿಶುನಕೈಃ - the wicked ones; ಶುನಕೈಃ-ಇವ ಕೇಸರೀ - by dogs, just as, the lion;

Translation
Where indeed has he gone, the cowherd?' Thus the enraged kings shouted and put up a fight. They were defeated by the Yaadavas. O what a wonder! Thou were not swayed in the least by the wicked ones, just as the lion is not swayed by the barking of the dogs.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತದನು ರುಕ್ಮಿಣಮಾಗತಮಾಹವೇ ವಧಮುಪೇಕ್ಷ್ಯ ನಿಬಧ್ಯ ವಿರೂಪಯನ್ ।
ಹೃತಮದಂ ಪರಿಮುಚ್ಯ ಬಲೋಕ್ತಿಭಿಃ ಪುರಮಯಾ ರಮಯಾ ಸಹ ಕಾನ್ತಯಾ ॥9॥

Meaning
ತದನು ರುಕ್ಮಿಣಮ್- - thereafter Rukmi; ಆಗತಮ್-ಆಹವೇ - (who had) come for battle; ವಧಮ್-ಉಪೇಕ್ಷ್ಯ - to kill refraining; ನಿಬಧ್ಯ ವಿರೂಪಯನ್ - binding and disfiguring (him); ಹೃತ-ಮದಮ್ - humbling (his) pride; ಪರಿಮುಚ್ಯ - (then) releasing (him); ಬಲ-ಉಕ್ತಿಭಿಃ - by Balaraam's direction; ಪುರಮ್-ಅಯಾಃ - came to town; ರಮಯಾ ಸಹ ಕಾನ್ತಯಾ - with Ramaa (Thy) wife (Rukmini);

Translation
Rukmi then came to battle with Thee. Refraining to kill him, Thou bound him and disfigured him and thus humbled his pride. At the instance of Balaraama Thou released him of his bondage and returned to Thy city Dwaarkaa with Thy wife Rukmini who was Ramaa (Laxmi) herself.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ನವಸಮಾಗಮಲಜ್ಜಿತಮಾನಸಾಂ ಪ್ರಣಯಕೌತುಕಜೃಮ್ಭಿತಮನ್ಮಥಾಮ್ ।
ಅರಮಯಃ ಖಲು ನಾಥ ಯಥಾಸುಖಂ ರಹಸಿ ತಾಂ ಹಸಿತಾಂಶುಲಸನ್ಮುಖೀಮ್ ॥10॥

Meaning
ನವ-ಸಮಾಗಮ - newness of being with her husband; ಲಜ್ಜಿತ-ಮಾನಸಾಮ್ - with a shy mind; ಪ್ರಣಯ-ಕೌತುಕ- - love and joy; ಜೃಮ್ಭಿತ-ಮನ್ಮಥಾಮ್ - increasing the passion; ಅರಮಯಃ ಖಲು - sported (Thou) indeed; ನಾಥ - O Lord!; ಯಥಾ-ಸುಖಂ - so as to (make her) happy; ರಹಸಿ ತಾಂ - in private, her; ಹಸಿತ-ಅಂಶುಲ-ಸನ್ಮುಖೀಮ್ - smile rays brightening her face;

Translation
Rukmini was shyly caught between the new experience of being with her husband and the increased passion caused by the joy of experiencing love. O Lord! Thou sported with her in privacy so as to delight her whose face was beaming with the rays of her smile.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ವಿವಿಧನರ್ಮಭಿರೇವಮಹರ್ನಿಶಂ ಪ್ರಮದಮಾಕಲಯನ್ ಪುನರೇಕದಾ ।
ಋಜುಮತೇಃ ಕಿಲ ವಕ್ರಗಿರಾ ಭವಾನ್ ವರತನೋರತನೋದತಿಲೋಲತಾಮ್ ॥11॥

Meaning
ವಿವಿಧ-ನರ್ಮಭಿಃ- - by various jokes; ಏವಮ್-ಅಹಃ-ನಿಶಮ್ - thus day and night; ಪ್ರಮದಮ್-ಆಕಲಯನ್ - delight creating; ಪುನಃ-ಏಕದಾ - again one day; ಋಜು-ಮತೇಃ - simple minded (her); ಕಿಲ ವಕ್ರ-ಗಿರಾ - certainly with doubtful words; ಭವಾನ್ - Thou; ವರ-ತನೋಃ-ಅತನೋತ್- - for the beautiful one created; ಅತಿ-ಲೋಲತಾಮ್ - severe agitation;

Translation
Day and night Thou delighted the beautiful Rukmini by various jokes and pleasant talks. Then one day, by Thy doubtful words the simple minded one was very much agitated.

ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತದಧಿಕೈರಥ ಲಾಲನಕೌಶಲೈಃ ಪ್ರಣಯಿನೀಮಧಿಕಂ ಸುಖಯನ್ನಿಮಾಮ್ ।
ಅಯಿ ಮುಕುನ್ದ ಭವಚ್ಚರಿತಾನಿ ನಃ ಪ್ರಗದತಾಂ ಗದತಾನ್ತಿಮಪಾಕುರು ॥12॥

Meaning
ತತ್-ಅಧಿಕೈಃ-ಅಥ - then more than before; ಲಾಲನ-ಕೌಶಲೈಃ - by affection expertises; ಪ್ರಣಯಿನೀಮ್-ಅಧಿಕಂ - the beloved, evermore; ಸುಖಯನ್-ಇಮಾಮ್ - delighting her; ಅಯಿ ಮುಕುನ್ದ - O Bestower of liberation!; ಭವತ್-ಚರಿತಾನಿ - Thy excellences; ನಃ ಪ್ರಗದತಾಂ - we narrating; ಗದ-ತಾನ್ತಿಮ್-ಅಪಾಕುರು - (our) disease causing sufferings do remove;

Translation
More than ever before by Thy affectionate expertises Thou delighted this Thy beloved even more. O Bestower of Liberation! Liberate me from the sufferings caused by the disease, who is always narrating Thy excellences.
