ಶ್ರೀಭಗವಾನುವಾಚ
ಭೂಯ ಏವ ಮಹಾಬಾಹೋ ಶ‍ಋಣು ಮೇ ಪರಮಂ ವಚಃ ।
ಯತ್ತೇಽಹಂ ಪ್ರೀಯಮಾಣಾಯ ವಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಹಿತಕಾಮ್ಯಯಾ ॥ 1 ॥
Meaning
ಶ್ರೀ-ಭಗವಾನ್ ಉವಾಚ — the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; ಭೂಯಃ — again; ಏವ — certainly; ಮಹಾ-ಬಾಹೋ — O mighty-armed; ಶೃಣು — just hear; ಮೇ — My; ಪರಮಮ್ — supreme; ವಚಃ — instruction; ಯತ್ — that which; ತೇ — to you; ಅಹಮ್ — I; ಪ್ರೀಯಮಾಣಾಯ — thinking you dear to Me; ವಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಮಿ — say; ಹಿತ-ಕಾಮ್ಯಯಾ — for your benefit.
Translation
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Listen again, O mighty-armed Arjuna. Because you are My dear friend, for your benefit I shall speak to you further, giving knowledge that is better than what I have already explained.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ನ ಮೇ ವಿದುಃ ಸುರಗಣಾಃ ಪ್ರಭವಂ ನ ಮಹರ್ಷಯಃ ।
ಅಹಮಾದಿರ್ಹಿ ದೇವಾನಾಂ ಮಹರ್ಷೀಣಾಂ ಚ ಸರ್ವಶಃ ॥ 2 ॥
Meaning
ನ — never; ಮೇ — My; ವಿದುಃ — know; ಸುರ-ಗಣಾಃ — the demigods; ಪ್ರಭವಮ್ — origin, opulences; ನ — never; ಮಹಾ-ಋಷಯಃ — great sages; ಅಹಮ್ — I am; ಆದಿಃ — the origin; ಹಿ — certainly; ದೇವಾನಾಮ್ — of the demigods; ಮಹಾ-ಋಷೀಣಾಮ್ — of the great sages; ಚ — also; ಸರ್ವಶಃ — in all respects.
Translation
Neither the hosts of demigods nor the great sages know My origin or opulences, for, in every respect, I am the source of the demigods and sages.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಯೋ ಮಾಮಜಮನಾದಿಂ ಚ ವೇತ್ತಿ ಲೋಕಮಹೇಶ್ವರಮ್ ।
ಅಸಮ್ಮೂಢಃ ಸ ಮರ್ತ್ಯೇಷು ಸರ್ವಪಾಪೈಃ ಪ್ರಮುಚ್ಯತೇ ॥ 3 ॥
Meaning
ಯಃ — anyone who; ಮಾಮ್ — Me; ಅಜಮ್ — unborn; ಅನಾದಿಮ್ — without beginning; ಚ — also; ವೇತ್ತಿ — knows; ಲೋಕ — of the planets; ಮಹಾ-ಈಶ್ವರಮ್ — the supreme master; ಅಸಮ್ಮೂಢಃ — undeluded; ಸಃ — he; ಮರ್ತ್ಯೇಷು — among those subject to death; ಸರ್ವ-ಪಾಪೈಃ — from all sinful reactions; ಪ್ರಮುಚ್ಯತೇ — is delivered.
Translation
He who knows Me as the unborn, as the beginningless, as the Supreme Lord of all the worlds – he only, undeluded among men, is freed from all sins.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಬುದ್ಧಿರ್ಜ್ಞಾನಮಸಮ್ಮೋಹಃ ಕ್ಷಮಾ ಸತ್ಯಂ ದಮಃ ಶಮಃ ।
ಸುಖಂ ದುಃಖಂ ಭವೋಽಭಾವೋ ಭಯಂ ಚಾಭಯಮೇವ ಚ ॥ 4 ॥
ಅಹಿಂಸಾ ಸಮತಾ ತುಷ್ಟಿಸ್ತಪೋ ದಾನಂ ಯಶೋಽಯಶಃ ।
ಭವನ್ತಿ ಭಾವಾ ಭೂತಾನಾಂ ಮತ್ತ ಏವ ಪೃಥಗ್ವಿಧಾಃ ॥ 5 ॥

Translation
Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from doubt and delusion, forgiveness, truthfulness, control of the senses, control of the mind, happiness and distress, birth, death, fear, fearlessness, nonviolence, equanimity, satisfaction, austerity, charity, fame and infamy – all these various qualities of living beings are created by Me alone.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಮಹರ್ಷಯಃ ಸಪ್ತ ಪೂರ್ವೇ ಚತ್ವಾರೋ ಮನವಸ್ತಥಾ ।
ಮದ್ಭ‍ಆವಾ ಮಾನಸಾ ಜಾತಾ ಯೇಷಾಂ ಲೋಕ ಇಮಾಃ ಪ್ರಜಾಃ ॥ 6 ॥
Meaning
ಮಹಾ-ಋಷಯಃ — the great sages; ಸಪ್ತ — seven; ಪೂರ್ವೇ — before; ಚತ್ವಾರಃ — four; ಮನವಃ — Manus; ತಥಾ — also; ಮತ್-ಭಾವಾಃ — born of Me; ಮಾನಸಾಃ — from the mind; ಜಾತಾಃ — born; ಯೇಷಾಮ್ — of them; ಲೋಕೇ — in the world; ಇಮಾಃ — all this; ಪ್ರಜಾಃ — population.
Translation
The seven great sages and before them the four other great sages and the Manus [progenitors of mankind] come from Me, born from My mind, and all the living beings populating the various planets descend from them.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಏತಾಂ ವಿಭೂತಿಂ ಯೋಗಂ ಚ ಮಮ ಯೋ ವೇತ್ತಿ ತತ್ತ್ವತಃ ।
ಸೋಽವಿಕಲ್ಪೇನ ಯೋಗೇನ ಯುಜ್ಯತೇ ನಾತ್ರ ಸಂಶಯಃ ॥ 7 ॥
Meaning
ಏತಾಮ್ — all this; ವಿಭೂತಿಮ್ — opulence; ಯೋಗಮ್ — mystic power; ಚ — also; ಮಮ — of Mine; ಯಃ — anyone who; ವೇತ್ತಿ — knows; ತತ್ತ್ವತಃ — factually; ಸಃ — he; ಅವಿಕಲ್ಪೇನ — without division; ಯೋಗೇನ — in devotional service; ಯುಜ್ಯತೇ — is engaged; ನ — never; ಅತ್ರ — here; ಸಂಶಯಃ — doubt.
Translation
One who is factually convinced of this opulence and mystic power of Mine engages in unalloyed devotional service; of this there is no doubt.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಅಹಂ ಸರ್ವಸ್ಯ ಪ್ರಭವೋ ಮತ್ತಃ ಸರ್ವಂ ಪ್ರವರ್ತತೇ ।
ಇತಿ ಮತ್ವಾ ಭಜನ್ತೇ ಮಾಂ ಬುಧಾ ಭಾವಸಮನ್ವಿತಾಃ ॥ 8 ॥
Meaning
ಅಹಮ್ — I; ಸರ್ವಸ್ಯ — of all; ಪ್ರಭವಃ — the source of generation; ಮತ್ತಃ — from Me; ಸರ್ವಮ್ — everything; ಪ್ರವರ್ತತೇ — emanates; ಇತಿ — thus; ಮತ್ವಾ — knowing; ಭಜನ್ತೇ — become devoted; ಮಾಮ್ — unto Me; ಬುಧಾಃ — the learned; ಭಾವ-ಸಮನ್ವಿತಾಃ — with great attention.
Translation
I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಮಚ್ಚಿತ್ತಾ ಮದ್ಗ‍ತಪ್ರಾಣಾ ಬೋಧಯನ್ತಃ ಪರಸ್ಪರಮ್ ।
ಕಥಯನ್ತಶ್ಚ ಮಾಂ ನಿತ್ಯಂ ತುಷ್ಯನ್ತಿ ಚ ರಮನ್ತಿ ಚ ॥ 9 ॥
Meaning
ಮತ್-ಚಿತ್ತಾಃ — their minds fully engaged in Me; ಮತ್-ಗತ-ಪ್ರಾಣಾಃ — their lives devoted to Me; ಬೋಧಯನ್ತಃ — preaching; ಪರಸ್ಪರಮ್ — among themselves; ಕಥಯನ್ತಃ — talking; ಚ — also; ಮಾಮ್ — about Me; ನಿತ್ಯಮ್ — perpetually; ತುಷ್ಯನ್ತಿ — become pleased; ಚ — also; ರಮನ್ತಿ — enjoy transcendental bliss; ಚ — also.
Translation
The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing about Me.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತೇಷಾಂ ಸತತಯುಕ್ತಾನಾಂ ಭಜತಾಂ ಪ್ರೀತಿಪೂರ್ವಕಮ್ ।
ದದಾಮಿ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯೋಗಂ ತಂ ಯೇನ ಮಾಮುಪಯಾನ್ತಿ ತೇ ॥ 10 ॥
Meaning
ತೇಷಾಮ್ — unto them; ಸತತ-ಯುಕ್ತಾನಾಮ್ — always engaged; ಭಜತಾಮ್ — in rendering devotional service; ಪ್ರೀತಿ-ಪೂರ್ವಕಮ್ — in loving ecstasy; ದದಾಮಿ — I give; ಬುದ್ಧಿ-ಯೋಗಮ್ — real intelligence; ತಮ್ — that; ಯೇನ — by which; ಮಾಮ್ — unto Me; ಉಪಯಾನ್ತಿ — come; ತೇ — they.
Translation
To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ತೇಷಾಮೇವಾನುಕಮ್ಪಾರ್ಥಮಹಮಜ್ಞಾನಜಂ ತಮಃ ।
ನಾಶಯಾಮ್ಯಾತ್ಮಭಾವಸ್ಥೋ ಜ್ಞಾನದೀಪೇನ ಭಾಸ್ವತಾ ॥ 11 ॥
Meaning
ತೇಷಾಮ್ — for them; ಏವ — certainly; ಅನುಕಮ್ಪಾ-ಅರ್ಥಮ್ — to show special mercy; ಅಹಮ್ — I; ಅಜ್ಞಾನ-ಜಮ್ — due to ignorance; ತಮಃ — darkness; ನಾಶಯಾಮಿ — dispel; ಆತ್ಮ-ಭಾವ — within their hearts; ಸ್ಥಃ — situated; ಜ್ಞಾನ — of knowledge; ದೀಪೇನ — with the lamp; ಭಾಸ್ವತಾ — glowing.
Translation
To show them special mercy, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.

ಪರಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಪರಂ ಧಾಮ ಪವಿತ್ರಂ ಪರಮಂ ಭವಾನ್ ।
ಪುರುಷಂ ಶಾಶ್ವತಂ ದಿವ್ಯಮಾದಿದೇವಮಜಂ ವಿಭುಮ್ ॥ 12 ॥
ಆಹುಸ್ತ್ವಾಮೃಷಯಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ದೇವರ್ಷಿರ್ನಾರದಸ್ತಥಾ ।
ಅಸಿತೋ ದೇವಲೋ ವ್ಯಾಸಃ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಚೈವ ಬ್ರವೀಷಿ ಮೇ ॥ 13 ॥

Translation
Arjuna said: You are the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the ultimate abode, the purest, the Absolute Truth. You are the eternal, transcendental, original person, the unborn, the greatest. All the great sages such as Nārada, Asita, Devala and Vyāsa confirm this truth about You, and now You Yourself are declaring it to me.
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ಸರ್ವಮೇತದೃತಂ ಮನ್ಯೇ ಯನ್ಮಾಂ ವದಸಿ ಕೇಶವ ।
ನ ಹಿ ತೇ ಭಗವನ್ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಂ ವಿದುರ್ದೇವಾ ನ ದಾನವಾಃ ॥ 14 ॥
Meaning
ಸರ್ವಮ್ — all; ಏತತ್ — this; ಋತಮ್ — truth; ಮನ್ಯೇ — I accept; ಯತ್ — which; ಮಾಮ್ — unto me; ವದಸಿ — You tell; ಕೇಶವ — O Kriṣṇa; ನ — never; ಹಿ — certainly; ತೇ — Your; ಭಗವನ್ — O Personality of Godhead; ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಮ್ — revelation; ವಿದುಃ — can know; ದೇವಾಃ — the demigods; ನ — nor; ದಾನವಾಃ — the demons.
Translation
O Kriṣṇa, I totally accept as truth all that You have told me. Neither the demigods nor the demons, O Lord, can understand Your personality.

ಸ್ವಯಮೇವಾತ್ಮನಾತ್ಮಾನಂ ವೇತ್ಥ ತ್ವಂ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ ।
ಭೂತಭಾವನ ಭೂತೇಶ ದೇವದೇವ ಜಗತ್ಪತೇ ॥ 15 ॥
Meaning
ಸ್ವಯಮ್ — personally; ಏವ — certainly; ಆತ್ಮನಾ — by Yourself; ಆತ್ಮಾನಮ್ — Yourself; ವೇತ್ಥ — know; ತ್ವಮ್ — You; ಪುರುಷ-ಉತ್ತಮ — O greatest of all persons; ಭೂತ-ಭಾವನ — O origin of everything; ಭೂತ-ಈಶ — O Lord of everything; ದೇವ-ದೇವ — O Lord of all demigods; ಜಗತ್-ಪತೇ — O Lord of the entire universe.
Translation
Indeed, You alone know Yourself by Your own internal potency, O Supreme Person, origin of all, Lord of all beings, God of gods, Lord of the universe!
ಶ್ಲೋಕಃ
ವಕ್ತುಮರ್ಹಸ್ಯಶೇಷೇಣ ದಿವ್ಯಾ ಹ್ಯಾತ್ಮವಿಭೂತಯಃ ।
ಯಾಭಿರ್ವಿಭೂತಿಭಿರ್ಲೋಕಾನಿಮಾಂಸ್ತ್ವಂ ವ್ಯಾಪ್ಯ ತಿಷ್ಠಸಿ ॥ 16 ॥
Meaning
ವಕ್ತುಮ್ — to say; ಅರ್ಹಸಿ — You deserve; ಅಶೇಷೇಣ — in detail; ದಿವ್ಯಾಃ — divine; ಹಿ — certainly; ಆತ್ಮ — Your own; ವಿಭೂತಯಃ — opulences; ಯಾಭಿಃ — by which; ವಿಭೂತಿಭಿಃ — opulences; ಲೋಕಾನ್ — all the planets; ಇಮಾನ್ — these; ತ್ವಮ್ — You; ವ್ಯಾಪ್ಯ — pervading; ತಿಷ್ಠಸಿ — remain.
Translation
Please tell me in detail of Your divine opulences by which You pervade all these worlds.

ಕಥಂ ವಿದ್ಯಾಮಹಂ ಯೋಗಿಂಸ್ತ್ವಾಂ ಸದಾ ಪರಿಚಿನ್ತಯನ್ ।
ಕೇಷು ಕೇಷು ಚ ಭಾವೇಷು ಚಿನ್ತ್ಯೋಽಸಿ ಭಗವನ್ಮಯಾ ॥ 17 ॥
Meaning
ಕಥಮ್ — how; ವಿದ್ಯಾಂ ಅಹಮ್ — shall I know; ಯೋಗಿನ್ — O supreme mystic; ತ್ವಾಮ್ — You; ಸದಾ — always; ಪರಿಚಿನ್ತಯನ್ — thinking of; ಕೇಷು — in which; ಕೇಷು — in which; ಚ — also; ಭಾವೇಷು — natures; ಚಿನ್ತ್ಯಃ ಅಸಿ — You are to be remembered; ಭಗವನ್ — O Supreme; ಮಯಾ — by me.
Translation
O Kriṣṇa, O supreme mystic, how shall I constantly think of You, and how shall I know You? In what various forms are You to be remembered, O Supreme Personality of Godhead?

ವಿಸ್ತರೇಣಾತ್ಮನೋ ಯೋಗಂ ವಿಭೂತಿಂ ಚ ಜನಾರ್ದನ ।
ಭೂಯಃ ಕಥಯ ತೃಪ್‍ತಿರ್ಹಿ ಶ‍ಋಣ್ವತೋ ನಾಸ್ತಿ ಮೇಽಮೃತಮ್ ॥ 18 ॥

ವಿಸ್ತರೇಣ — in detail; ಆತ್ಮನಃ — Your; ಯೋಗಮ್ — mystic power; ವಿಭೂತಿಮ್ — opulences; ಚ — also; ಜನ-ಅರ್ದನ — O killer of the atheists; ಭೂಯಃ — again; ಕಥಯ — describe; ತೃಪ್ತಿಃ — satisfaction; ಹಿ — certainly; ಶೃಣ್ವತಃ — hearing; ನ ಅಸ್ತಿ — there is not; ಮೇ — my; ಅಮೃತಮ್ — nectar.
Translation
O Janārdana, again please describe in detail the mystic power of Your opulences. I am never satiated in hearing about You, for the more I hear the more I want to taste the nectar of Your words.

Translation
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Yes, I will tell you of My splendorous manifestations, but only of those which are prominent, O Arjuna, for My opulence is limitless.

I am the Supersoul, O Arjuna, seated in the hearts of all living entities. I am the beginning, the middle and the end of all beings.

ಆದಿತ್ಯಾನಾಮಹಂ ವಿಷ್ಣುರ್ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷಾಂ ರವಿರಂಶ‍ಉಮಾನ್ ।
ಮರೀಚಿರ್ಮರುತಾಮಸ್ಮಿ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಾಣಾಮಹಂ ಶಶೀ ॥ 21 ॥
Meaning
ಆದಿತ್ಯಾನಾಮ್ — of the Ādityas; ಅಹಮ್ — I am; ವಿಷ್ಣುಃ — the Supreme Lord; ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷಾಮ್ — of all luminaries; ರವಿಃ — the sun; ಅಂಶು-ಮಾನ್ — radiant; ಮರೀಚಿಃ — Marīci; ಮರುತಾಮ್ — of the Maruts; ಅಸ್ಮಿ — I am; ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಾಣಾಮ್ — of the stars; ಅಹಮ್ — I am; ಶಶೀ — the moon.
Translation
Of the Ādityas I am Viṣṇu, of lights I am the radiant sun, of the Maruts I am Marīci, and among the stars I am the moon.

ವೇದಾನಾಂ ಸಾಮವೇದೋಽಸ್ಮಿ ದೇವಾನಾಮಸ್ಮಿ ವಾಸವಃ ।

ವಿಷ್ಟಭ್ಯಾಹಮಿದಂ ಕೃತ್ಸ್ನಮೇಕಾಂಶೇನ ಸ್ಥಿತೋ ಜಗತ್ ॥ 42 ॥

ಅಥ ವಾ — or; ಬಹುನಾ — many; ಏತೇನ — by this kind; ಕಿಮ್ — what; ಜ್ಞಾತೇನ — by knowing; ತವ — your; ಅರ್ಜುನ — O Arjuna; ವಿಷ್ಟಭ್ಯ — pervading; ಅಹಮ್ — I; ಇದಮ್ — this; ಕೃತ್ಸ್ನಮ್ — entire; ಏಕ — by one; ಅಂಶೇನ — part; ಸ್ಥಿತಃ — am situated; ಜಗತ್ — universe.
Translation
But what need is there, Arjuna, for all this detailed knowledge? With a single fragment of Myself I pervade and support this entire universe.
