Translation
Arjuna inquired: Which are considered to be more perfect, those who are always properly engaged in Your devotional service or those who worship the impersonal Brahman, the unmanifested?

ময্যাবেশ্য মনো যে মাং নিত্যযুক্তা উপাসতে ।
শ্রদ্ধযা পরযোপেতাস্তে মে যুক্ততমা মতাঃ ॥ 2 ॥
Meaning
শ্রী-ভগবান্ উবাচ — Bhagavan Sri Krishna said; মযি — upon Me; আবেশ্য — fixing; মনঃ — the mind; যে — those who; মাম্ — Me; নিত্য — always; যুক্তাঃ — engaged; উপাসতে — worship; শ্রদ্ধযা — with faith; পরযা — transcendental; উপেতাঃ — endowed; তে — they; মে — by Me; যুক্ত-তমাঃ — most perfect in yoga; মতাঃ — are considered.
Translation
Bhagavan Sri Krishna said: Those who fix their minds on My personal form and are always engaged in worshiping Me with great and transcendental faith are considered by Me to be most perfect.
শ্লোকঃ
যে ত্বক্ষরমনির্দেশ্যমব্যক্তং পর্যুপাসতে ।
সর্বত্রগমচিংত্যং চ কূটস্থমচলং ধ্রুবম্ ॥ 3 ॥
সন্নিযম্যেংদ্রিযগ্রামং সর্বত্র সমবুদ্ধযঃ ।
তে প্রাপ্নুবংতি মামেব সর্বভূতহিতে রতাঃ ॥ 4 ॥

Translation
But those who fully worship the unmanifested, that which lies beyond the perception of the senses, the all-pervading, inconceivable, unchanging, fixed and immovable – the impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth – by controlling the various senses and being equally disposed to everyone, such persons, engaged in the welfare of all, at last achieve Me.

ক্লএশোঽধিকতরস্তেষামব্যক্তাসক্তচেতসাম্ ।
অব্যক্তা হি গতির্দুঃখং দেহবদ্ভইরবাপ্যতে ॥ 5 ॥
Meaning
ক্লেশঃ — trouble; অধিক-তরঃ — very much; তেষাম্ — of them; অব্যক্ত — to the unmanifested; আসক্ত — attached; চেতসাম্ — of those whose minds; অব্যক্তা — toward the unmanifested; হি — certainly; গতিঃ — progress; দুঃখম্ — with trouble; দেহ-বদ্ভিঃ — by the embodied; অবাপ্যতে — is achieved.
Translation
For those whose minds are attached to the unmanifested, impersonal feature of the Supreme, advancement is very troublesome. To make progress in that discipline is always difficult for those who are embodied.
শ্লোকঃ
যে তু সর্বাণি কর্মাণি মযি সন্ন্যস্য মত্পরাঃ ।
অনন্যেনৈব যোগেন মাং ধ্যাযংত উপাসতে ॥ 6 ॥
তেষামহং সমুদ্ধর্তা মৃত্যুসংসারসাগরাত্ ।
ভবামি ন চিরাত্পার্থ ময্যাবেশিতচেতসাম্ ॥ 7 ॥
Meaning

Translation
But those who worship Me, giving up all their activities unto Me and being devoted to Me without deviation, engaged in devotional service and always meditating upon Me, having fixed their minds upon Me, O son of Prithā – for them I am the swift deliverer from the ocean of birth and death.
শ্লোকঃ
ময্যেব মন আধত্স্ব মযি বুদ্ধিং নিবেশয ।
নিবসিষ্যসি ময্যেব অত ঊর্ধ্বং ন সংশযঃ ॥ 8 ॥
Meaning
মযি — upon Me; এব — certainly; মনঃ — mind; আধত্স্ব — fix; মযি — upon Me; বুদ্ধিম্ — intelligence; নিবেশয — apply; নিবসিষ্যসি — you will live; মযি — in Me; এব — certainly; অতঃ ঊর্ধ্বম্ — thereafter; ন — never; সংশযঃ — doubt.
Translation
Just fix your mind upon Me, the Supreme Truth, and engage all your intelligence in Me. Thus you will live in Me always, without a doubt.
শ্লোকঃ
অথ চিত্তং সমাধাতুং ন শক্নোষি মযি স্থিরম্ ।
অভ্যাসযোগেন ততো মামিচ্ছাপ্তুং ধনংজয ॥ 9 ॥
Meaning
অথ — if, therefore; চিত্তম্ — mind; সমাধাতুম্ — to fix; ন — not; শক্নোষি — you are able; মযি — upon Me; স্থিরম্ — steadily; অভ্যাস-যোগেন — by the practice of devotional service; ততঃ — then; মাম্ — Me; ইচ্চা — desire; আপ্তুম্ — to get; ধনম্-জয — O winner of wealth, Arjuna.
Translation
My dear Arjuna, O winner of wealth, if you cannot fix your mind upon Me without deviation, then follow the regulative principles of bhakti-yoga. In this way develop a desire to attain Me.
শ্লোকঃ
অভ্যাসেঽপ্যসমর্থোঽসি মত্কর্মপরমো ভব ।
মদর্থমপি কর্মাণি কুর্বন্সিদ্ধিমবাপ্স্যসি ॥ 10 ॥
Meaning
অভ্যাসে — in practice; অপি — even if; অসমর্থঃ — unable; অসি — you are; মত্-কর্ম — My work; পরমঃ — dedicated to; ভব — become; মত্-অর্থম্ — for My sake; অপি — even; কর্মাণি — work; কুর্বন্ — performing; সিদ্ধিম্ — perfection; অবাপ্স্যসি — you will achieve.
Translation
If you cannot practice the regulations of bhakti-yoga, then just try to work for Me, because by working for Me you will come to the perfect stage.
শ্লোকঃ
অথৈতদপ্যশক্তোঽসি কর্তুং মদ্যোগমাশ্রিতঃ ।
সর্বকর্মফলত্যাগং ততঃ কুরু যতাত্মবান্ ॥ 11 ॥
Meaning
অথ — even though; এতত্ — this; অপি — also; অশক্তঃ — unable; অসি — you are; কর্তুম্ — to perform; মত্ — unto Me; যোগম্ — in devotional service; আশ্রিতঃ — taking refuge; সর্ব-কর্ম — of all activities; ফল — of the results; ত্যাগম্ — renunciation; ততঃ — then; কুরু — do; যত-আত্ম-বান্ — self-situated.
Translation
If, however, you are unable to work in this consciousness of Me, then try to act giving up all results of your work and try to be self-situated.
শ্লোকঃ
শ্রেযো হি জ্ঞানমভ্যাসাজ্জ্ঞানাদ্ধ্যানং বিশিষ্যতে ।
ধ্যানাত্কর্মফলত্যাগস্ত্যাগাচ্ছাংতিরনংতরম্ ॥ 12 ॥
Meaning
শ্রেযঃ — better; হি — certainly; জ্ঞানম্ — knowledge; অভ্যাসাত্ — than practice; জ্ঞানাত্ — than knowledge; ধ্যানম্ — meditation; বিশিষ্যতে — is considered better; ধ্যানাত্ — than meditation; কর্ম-ফল-ত্যাগঃ — renunciation of the results of fruitive action; ত্যাগাত্ — by such renunciation; শাংতিঃ — peace; অনংতরম্ — thereafter.
Translation
If you cannot take to this practice, then engage yourself in the cultivation of knowledge. Better than knowledge, however, is meditation, and better than meditation is renunciation of the fruits of action, for by such renunciation one can attain peace of mind.

অদ্বেষ্টা সর্বভূতানাং মৈত্রঃ করুণ এব চ ।
নির্মমো নিরহংকারঃ সমদুঃখসুখঃ ক্ষমী ॥ 13 ॥

Translation
One who is not envious but is a kind friend to all living entities, who does not think himself a proprietor and is free from false ego, who is equal in both happiness and distress, who is tolerant, always satisfied, self-controlled, and engaged in devotional service with determination, his mind and intelligence fixed on Me – such a devotee of Mine is very dear to Me.

হর্ষামর্ষভযোদ্বেগৈর্মুক্তো যঃ স চ মে প্রিযঃ ॥ 15 ॥

Translation
He by whom no one is put into difficulty and who is not disturbed by anyone, who is equipoised in happiness and distress, fear and anxiety, is very dear to Me.

অনপেক্ষঃ শউচির্দক্ষ উদাসীনো গতব্যথঃ ।
সর্বারংভপরিত্যাগী যো মদ্ভক্তঃ স মে প্রিযঃ ॥ 16 ॥
Meaning
অনপেক্ষঃ — neutral; শুচিঃ — pure; দক্ষঃ — expert; উদাসীনঃ — free from care; গত-ব্যথঃ — freed from all distress; সর্ব-আরংভ — of all endeavors; পরিত্যাগী — renouncer; যঃ — anyone who; মত্-ভক্তঃ — My devotee; সঃ — he; মে — to Me; প্রিযঃ — very dear.
Translation
My devotee who is not dependent on the ordinary course of activities, who is pure, expert, without cares, free from all pains, and not striving for some result, is very dear to Me.

One who is equal to friends and enemies, who is equipoised in honor and dishonor, heat and cold, happiness and distress, fame and infamy, who is always free from contaminating association, always silent and satisfied with anything, who doesn’t care for any residence, who is fixed in knowledge and who is engaged in devotional service – such a person is very dear to Me.

Those who follow this imperishable path of devotional service and who completely engage themselves with faith, making Me the supreme goal, are very, very dear to Me.
