তদনু নংদমমংদশুভাস্পদং নৃপপুরীং করদানকৃতে গতম্।
সমবলোক্য জগাদ ভবত্পিতা বিদিতকংসসহাযজনোদ্যমঃ ॥1॥
Meaning
তদনু নংদম্- - after that to Nanda; অমংদ-শুভ-আস্পদম্ - (who is) of non dimmed virtues the abode; নৃপ-পুরীম্ - to the king's city; কর-দান-কৃতে গতম্ - to pay his tributes (taxes), who had gone; সমবলোক্য - seeing (meeting); জগাদ ভবত্-পিতা - said (to Nanda), Thy father (Vasudeva); বিদিত-কংস- - who knew of Kansa's; সহাযজন-উদ্যমঃ - and Kansa's supporters' activities;
Translation
Thereafter, Nanda (who is the abode of undiminished virtues), went to the king's city to pay his tributes (taxes). On meeting him, Thy father Vasudeva who knew of the activities of Kansa and his supporters, told him that.
শ্লোকঃ
অযি সখে তব বালকজন্ম মাং সুখযতেঽদ্য নিজাত্মজজন্মবত্ ।
ইতি ভবত্পিতৃতাং ব্রজনাযকে সমধিরোপ্য শশংস তমাদরাত্ ॥2॥
Meaning
অযি সখে - O friend!; তব বালক জন্ম - to you a son's birth; মাং-সুখযতে-অদ্য - gives me pleasure now; নিজ-আত্মজ-জন্মবত্ - my own son's birth like; ইতি ভবত্-পিতৃতাং - thus Thy fatherhood; ব্রজনাযকে সমধিরোপ্য - to the cowherd chief, (he cleverly) attributed; শশংস তম্-আদরাত্ - and praised him with affection;
Translation
"O Friend! The birth of a son to you gives me pleasure as if a son were born to myself." Thus he cleverly attributed Thy fatherhood on Nanda, and praised him with affection.
শ্লোকঃ
ইহ চ সংত্যনিমিত্তশতানি তে কটকসীম্নি ততো লঘু গম্যতাম্ ।
ইতি চ তদ্বচসা ব্রজনাযকো ভবদপাযভিযা দ্রুতমাযযৌ ॥3॥
Meaning
ইহ চ সংতি- - and here there are; অনিমিত্ত-শতানি - bad omens in hundreds; তে কটক-সীম্নি - at your residence; ততঃ লঘু গম্যতাম্ - therefore soon (you) should go; ইতি চ তত্-বচসা - and thus, by his (Vaudeva's) words; ব্রজনাযকঃ - the cowherd chieftain (Nandagopa); ভবত্-অপায-ভিযা - to Thee danger apprehending; দ্রুতম্-আযযৌ - quickly returned;
Translation
"Here there are bad omens in hundreds and soon at your residence also it will not be safe, so you should return soon". Thus by Vasudeva's words, apprehending danger to Thee, Nanda quickly returned.

অবসরে খলু তত্র চ কাচন ব্রজপদে মধুরাকৃতিরংগনা ।
তরলষট্পদলালিতকুংতলা কপটপোতক তে নিকটং গতা ॥4॥
Meaning
অবসরে খলু তত্র চ - at that time, indeed, and there; কাচন ব্রজপদে - some (female) in Gokula; মধুর-আকৃতিঃ-অংগনা - beautiful looking woman; তরল-ষট্পদ- - (with) hovering bees; লালিত-কুংতলা - around (her) locks of hair (due to the sweet smell); কপট-পোতক - (O Thou) in the guise of a child!; তে নিকটং গতা - went near Thee;
Translation
Just then there in Gokula, some beautiful looking woman with honey bees hovering around the sweet smelling flowers in her hair locks, entered. O Thou! In the guise of a child, she approached Thee.
শ্লোকঃ
সপদি সা হৃতবালকচেতনা নিশিচরান্বযজা কিল পূতনা ।
ব্রজবধূষ্বিহ কেযমিতি ক্ষণং বিমৃশতীষু ভবংতমুপাদদে ॥5॥
Meaning
সপদি সা - quickly she; হৃত-বালক-চেতনা - who had taken the children' lives; নিশিচর-অন্বয-জা - of demon clan born; কিল পূতনা - indeed Pootanaa; ব্রজ-বধূষু-ইহ - among the Vraja women here; কা-ইযম্-ইতি - who is this, thus; ক্ষণং বিমৃশতীষু - for a moment wondering; ভবংতম্-উপাদদে - Thee lifted up (in her arms);
Translation
Quickly she, Pootanaa, born in the clan of demons, who had taken the lives of many children, lifted Thee up, even as the Vraja women were for a second wondering as to who she was.

ললিতভাববিলাসহৃতাত্মভির্যুবতিভিঃ প্রতিরোদ্ধুমপারিতা ।
স্তনমসৌ ভবনাংতনিষেদুষী প্রদদুষী ভবতে কপটাত্মনে ॥5॥
Meaning
ললিত-ভাব-বিলাস- - by her charming appearance and graceful movements; হৃত-আত্মভিঃ-যুবতিভিঃ - with captivated minds, the young women; প্রতিরোদ্ধুম্-অপারিতা - to deter (stop) not being able; স্তনম্-অসৌ - her breasts this (Pootanaa); ভবন-অংত-নিষেদুষী - inside the house sitting; প্রদদুষী ভবতে - gave (her breasts) to Thee; কপট-আত্মনে - the illusive child;
Translation
Her charming appearance and graceful movements captivated the minds of the Gopis who were unable to stop her from making advances. So this Pootanaa took her seat inside the house as she applied Thee, the illusive child, to her breasts.
শ্লোকঃ
সমধিরুহ্য তদংকমশংকিতস্ত্বমথ বালকলোপনরোষিতঃ ।
মহদিবাম্রফলং কুচমংডলং প্রতিচুচূষিথ দুর্বিষদূষিতম্ ॥7॥
Meaning
সমধিরুহ্য তত্-অংকম্- - climbing in her lap; অশংকিতঃ-ত্বম্-অথ - unhesitatingly Thou then; বালক-লোপন-রোষিতঃ - by the children' killing angered; মহত্-ইব-আম্র-ফলম্ - huge, as if it were a mango fruit; কুচ-মংডলং প্রতি-চুচূষিথ - the breast, sucked well; দুর্বিষ-দূষিতম্ - with strong poison smeared;
Translation
Thou who were angered by her killing of the children, unhesitatingly climbed in her lap and sucked well her poison smeared breasts as if it were a huge mango fruit.

অসুভিরেব সমং ধযতি ত্বযি স্তনমসৌ স্তনিতোপমনিস্বনা ।
নিরপতদ্ভযদাযি নিজং বপুঃ প্রতিগতা প্রবিসার্য ভুজাবুভৌ ॥8॥

অসুভিঃ-এব সমম্ - her life breath along with; ধযতি ত্বযি স্তনম্- - sucking (when) Thou were the breast; অসৌ স্তনিত-উপম-নিস্বনা - this Pootanaa, with thunder like noise; নিরপতত্- - fell down; ভযদাযি নিজং বপুঃ - ferocious her own body; প্রতিগতা - reverting to; প্রবিসার্য ভুজৌ-উভৌ - out stretching both the hands;
Translation
Thou sucked the breast along with her life force. This Pootanaa fell down with a thunder like noise reverting to her natural ferocious body with both hands stretching out.

ভযদঘোষণভীষণবিগ্রহশ্রবণদর্শনমোহিতবল্লবে ।
ব্রজপদে তদুরঃস্থলখেলনং ননু ভবংতমগৃহ্ণত গোপিকাঃ ॥9॥
Meaning
ভযদ-ঘোষণ- - the terrifying sound; ভীষণ-বিগ্রহ- - and the frightful form; শ্রবণ-দর্শন- - hearing and seeing; মোহিত-বল্লবে - (which) stunned the gopas; ব্রজপদে - and (the whole of) Gokul; তত্-উদরঃ-স্থল- - on her chest; খেলনং ননু - playing indeed; ভবংতম্-অগৃহ্ণত - Thee picked up; গোপিকাঃ - the Gopis;
Translation
The whole of Gokul stood stunned hearing the terrifying sound and seeing the frightful form. The Gopis picked Thee up even as Thou were playing on the chest of the dead demoness.

ভুবনমংগলনামভিরেব তে যুবতিভির্বহুধা কৃতরক্ষণঃ ।
ত্বমযি বাতনিকেতননাথ মামগদযন্ কুরু তাবকসেবকম্ ॥10॥
Meaning
ভুবন-মংগল- - O Thou who confers auspiciousness on the world!; নামভিঃ-এব তে - by Thy name alone; যুবতিভিঃ-বহুধা - by the young women, in various ways; কৃতরক্ষণঃ ত্বম্-অযি - Thou were protected, O Thou!; বাতনিকেতননাথ - Lord of Guruvaayur!; মাম্-অগদযন্ - making me devoid of ailments; কুরু তাবক-সেবকম্ - make me Thy devotee;

O Thou! Who confers auspiciousness on to the world, the young women protected Thee in various ways with chanting Thy names alone. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Making me devoid of my ailments, make me Thy devotee.
