Meaning
মদন-আতুর-চেতসঃ- - with minds overcome by the god of love; অন্বহং - everyday; ভবত্-অংঘ্রি-দ্বয়- - Thy two feet; দাস্য়-কাম্যয়া - to serve desiring; যমুনা-তট-সীম্নি - on the Yamunaa banks nearby; সৈকতীং - made of sand (an image); তরল-আক্ষ্য়ঃ - the beautiful eyed ones (girls); গিরিজাং - the goddess Kaatyaayini; সমার্চিচন্ - worshipped;
Translation
The beautiful eyed girls of Vraja, overcome by Cupid and love for Thee were desirous of serving Thy two lotus feet. To achieve this, everyday, on the banks of Yamunaa, they made an image of sand of goddess Girijaa and worshipped it.
শ্লোকঃ
তব নামকথারতাঃ সমং সুদৃশঃ প্রাতরুপাগতা নদীম্ ।
উপহারশতৈরপূজযন্ দয়িতো নংদসুতো ভবেদিতি ॥2॥
Meaning
তব - Thy; নাম-কথা-রতাঃ - name and deeds always immersed in; সমং সুদৃশঃ - (they) all beautiful eyed (girls); প্রাতঃ-উপাগতা - in the morning reaching; নদীম্ - the river; উপহার্-শতৈঃ- - with hundreds of offerings; অপূজযন্ - worshipping (prayed); দয়িতঃ নংদসুতঃ - (that) husband, the son of Nanda; ভবেত্-ইতি - may become, thus;
Translation
All the beautiful girls were always immersed in chanting Thy name and narrating Thy deeds. In the morning they would go to the river and worship goddess Girijaa with hundreds of offerings and pray to her that Nanda's son, Krishna, may become their husband.
শ্লোকঃ
ইতি মাসমুপাহিতব্রতাস্তরলাক্ষীরভিবীক্ষ্য় তা ভবান্ ।
করুণামৃদুলো নদীতটং সময়াসীত্তদনুগ্রহেচ্ছয়া ॥3॥
Meaning
ইতি মাসম্- - thus for one month; উপাহিত-ব্রতাঃ- - having performed the vows; তরলাক্ষীঃ- - the beautiful eyed (girls); অভিবীক্ষ্য় তাঃ - seeing them; ভবান্ - Thou; করুণা-মৃদুলঃ - by compassion moved; নদীতটং সময়াসীত্- - to the river bank went; তত্-অনুগ্রহ- - to bless them; ইচ্ছয়া - desiring;
Translation
Thou were moved by compassion when Thou saw that the beautiful eyed girls had performed the vows for a month. With a desire to bless them Thou went to the river bank.

নিযমাবসিতৌ নিজাংবরং তটসীমন্যবমুচ্য় তাস্তদা ।
যমুনাজলখেলনাকুলাঃ পুরতস্ত্বামবলোক্য় লজ্জিতাঃ ॥4॥
Meaning
নিযম-অবসিতৌ - vows/observances being completed; নিজ-অংবরং - their clothes; তট-সীমনি- - on the river bank; অবমুচ্য় তাঃ- - leaving they; তদা যমুনা-জল- - then in the Yamunaa waters; খেলন-আকুলাঃ - to sport eager; পুরতঃ-ত্বাম্- - in front Thee; অবলোক্য় - seeing; লজ্জিতাঃ - felt ashamed;
Translation
The observances of the vows being completed, they eagerly went to sport in the Yamunaa waters, leaving their robes behind, on the bank. Seeing Thee in front, they felt very ashamed.
শ্লোকঃ
ত্রপয়া নমিতাননাস্বথো বনিতাস্বংবরজালমংতিকে ।
নিহিতং পরিগৃহ্য় ভূরুহো বিটপং ত্বং তরসাঽধিরূঢবান্ ॥5॥
Meaning
ত্রপয়া - out of shame; নমিত-আননাসু- - with hung heads; অথঃ বনিতাসু- - then (when) the girls; অংবর-জালম্- - the heap of clothes; অংতিকে নিহিতং - near by kept; পরিগৃহ্য় - taking away; ভূরুহঃ বিটপম্ - a tree's branch; ত্বং তরসা- - Thou quickly; অধিরূঢবান্ - climbed up;
Translation
The girls stood with their heads hung in shame. Thou took away the heap of their clothes lying near by and quickly climbed up the branch of a tree.
শ্লোকঃ
ইহ তাবদুপেত্য় নীযতাং বসনং বঃ সুদৃশো যথাযথম্ ।
ইতি নর্মমৃদুস্মিতে ত্বয়ি ব্রুবতি ব্য়ামুমুহে বধূজনৈঃ ॥6॥
Meaning
ইহ তাবত্- - here then; উপেত্য় নীযতাং - coming take; বসনং বঃ - clothes you people; সুদৃশঃ - O beautiful eyed ones; যথাযথং ইতি - each her own, thus; নর্ম-মৃদু-স্মিতে - (with) a soft sweet smile; ত্বয়ি ব্রুবতি - (when) Thou said; ব্যমুমুহে - they were confused; বধূজনৈঃ - the girls;
Translation
Come here, O beautiful eyed ones! Take each one of you your clothes,' Thou said with a soft sweet smile. The girls were confused when they were asked to do so.

অয়ি জীব চিরং কিশোর নস্তব দাসীরবশীকরোষি কিম্ ।
প্রদিশাংবরমংবুজেক্ষণেত্য়ুদিতস্ত্বং স্মিতমেব দত্তবান্ ॥7॥
Meaning
অয়ি জীব চিরং - O may you live long; কিশোর - dear boy; নঃ-তব দাসীঃ- - we (are) Thy servants; অবশী-করোষি কিম্ - teasing us why; প্রদিশ-অংবরম্- - give the clothes; অংবুজেক্ষণ- - O Lotus eyed one!; ইতি-উদিতঃ- - thus being told; ত্বং স্মিতম্-এব - Thou smile only; দত্তবান্ - gave;
Translation
O dear boy! May you live long. We are your hand maids. Why do you tease us thus? O Lotus eyed one! Give us our clothes.' Thus being told, Thou merely gave a smile.

অধিরুহ্য় তটং কৃতাংজলীঃ পরিশুদ্ধাঃ স্বগতীর্নিরীক্ষ্য় তাঃ ।
বসনান্যখিলান্যনুগ্রহং পুনরেবং গিরমপ্যদা মুদা ॥8॥
Meaning
অধিরুহ্য় তটং - climbing up the bank; কৃতাংজলীঃ - with joined palms; পরিশুদ্ধাঃ - purified (at heart); স্বগতীঃ- - (in Thee) as the sole resort; নিরীক্ষ্য় তাঃ - seeing, them (as such); বসনানি- - clothes; অখিলানি- - all; অনুগ্রহং - blessings; পুনঃ-এবং - again also; গিরম্-অপি- - words (promise) also; অদা মুদা - gave (to them) with joy;
Translation
Thou saw that the girls had come up the bank with joined palms, that they were purified at heart and that they had surrendered to Thee as their sole resort.Thou with joy gave them back all their clothes and also words of promise as blessings.

বিদিতং ননু বো মনীষিতং বদিতারস্ত্বিহ যোগ্যমুত্তরম্ ।
যমুনাপুলিনে সচংদ্রিকাঃ ক্ষণদা ইত্যবলাস্ত্বমূচিবান্ ॥9॥
Meaning
বিদিতং ননু - known indeed; বঃ মনীষিতং - (is) your desire; বদিতারঃ- - (I) will respond; তু-ইহ - surely here; যোগ্যম্-উত্তরম্ - proper (befitting) answer; যমুনা-পুলিনে - on the Yamunaa banks; সচংদ্রিকাঃ - (in) moon lit; ক্ষণদাঃ ইতি- - nights, thus; অবলাঃ- - to the girls; ত্বম্-ঊচিবান্ - Thou said;
Translation
Known indeed is your desire to me. I will surely give a proper response, in the moon lit nights on the sand banks of Yamunaa.' Thus Thou said to the girls.

উপকর্ণ্য় ভবন্মুখচ্য়ুতং মধুনিষ্য়ংদি বচো মৃগীদৃশঃ ।
প্রণয়াদয়ি বীক্ষ্য় বীক্ষ্য় তে বদনাব্জং শনকৈর্গৃহং গতাঃ ॥10॥
Meaning
উপকর্ণ্য় - hearing; ভবত্-মুখ-চ্য়ুতং - from Thy mouth flowing; মধু-নিষ্য়ংদি বচঃ - honey dripping words; মৃগীদৃশঃ - the doe-eyed (girls); প্রণয়াত্-অয়ি - with love, O Lord!; বীক্ষ্য় বীক্ষ্য় - seeing again and again; তে বদন্-আব্জং - Thy lotus face; শনকৈঃ-গৃহং গতাঃ - slowly home went;
Translation
O Lord! The doe eyed girls heard Thy honey dripping words flowing from Thy mouth. Looking with love at Thy lotus face again and again they slowly went home.
শ্লোকঃ
ইতি নন্বনুগৃহ্য় বল্লবীর্বিপিনাংতেষু পুরেব সংচরন্ ।
করুণাশিশিরো হরে হর ত্বরয়া মে সকলাময়াবলিম্ ॥11॥

ইতি ননু- - thus indeed; অনুগৃহ্য় - blessing; বল্লবীঃ- - the Gopikaas; বিপিন-অংতেষু - in the forests; পুরা-ইব সংচরন্ - before like moving about; করুণাশিশিরঃ - O Compassionate and cool; হরে - O Hari!; হর ত্বরয়া - put an end to, soon; মে সকল- - my all; আময়াবলিম্ - host of ailments;
Translation
Thus Thou blessed the Gopikaas and continued to roam the woods as before. O Hari! With Thy such cooling compassion, quickly put an end to all my hosts of ailments.
