శ్లోకః
అయి దేవ పురా కిల త్వయి స్వయముత్తానశయే స్తనంధయే ।
పరిజృంభణతో వ్యపావృతే వదనే విశ్వమచష్ట వల్లవీ ॥1॥
Meaning
అయి దేవ - O Lord!; పురా కిల - long ago indeed; త్వయి స్వయం- - (when) Thou by Thyself; ఉత్తానశయే - while lying on the back; స్తనంధయే - and sucking at the breast (of Yashodaa); పరిజృంభణతః - by yawning; వ్యపావృతే వదనే - in Thy open mouth; విశ్వం-అచష్ట - the universe, was seen; వల్లవీ - by the cowherdess (Yashodaa);
Translation
O Lord! Once long ago, as Thou were lying flat on the back, in the lap of Yashodaa and sucking at her breast, Thou yawned. As Thou did so, in Thy open mouth, Thou revealed to her the whole universe.
శ్లోకః
పునరప్యథ బాలకైః సమం త్వయి లీలానిరతే జగత్పతే ।
ఫలసంచయవంచనక్రుధా తవ మృద్భోజనమూచురర్భకాః ॥2॥
Meaning
పునః-అపి-అథ - again also; బాలకైః సమం - with the children; త్వయి లీలా-నిరతే - (when) Thou were engrossed in play; జగత్పతే - O Lord of the Universe!; ఫల-సంచయ- - in collecting the fruits; వంచన-క్రుధా - being cheated and angered (the children); తవ మృద్-భోజనం- - Thy eating of sand; ఊచుః-అర్భకాః - reported the children;
Translation
O Lord of the Universe! Again once, as Thou were playing with other children, Thou cheated them in collecting fruits. Angered at this, they reported to Thy mother that Thou had eaten mud.
శ్లోకః
అయి తే ప్రలయావధౌ విభో క్షితితోయాదిసమస్తభక్షిణః ।
మృదుపాశనతో రుజా భవేదితి భీతా జననీ చుకోప సా ॥3॥
Meaning
అయి - O (Thou); తే ప్రలయ-అవధౌ - Thee at the time of deluge; విభో - O Lord!; క్షితి-తోయ-ఆది- - earth water etc; సమస్త-భక్షిణః - everything consuming; మృద్-ఉపాశనతః - by eating mud,; రుజా భవేత్-ఇతి - sickness may be, thus; భీతా జననీ - (Thy) frightened mother; చుకోప సా - she became angry;
Translation
O Lord! At the time of the deluge Thou do consume everything earth water etc. Yet Thy mother was frightened that Thou may fall sick by eating mud and so she became angry.
శ్లోకః
అయి దుర్వినయాత్మక త్వయా కిము మృత్సా బత వత్స భక్షితా ।
ఇతి మాతృగిరం చిరం విభో వితథాం త్వం ప్రతిజజ్ఞిషే హసన్ ॥4॥
Meaning
అయి దుర్వినయాత్మక - O naughty (one); త్వయా కిము - by you was it; మృత్సా బత - that mud indeed; వత్స భక్షితా - O son, was eaten; ఇతి మాతృగిరం - such the words of Thy mother; చిరం విభో - for a long time O Lord; వితథాం త్వం - as false, Thee; ప్రతిజజ్ఞిషే హసన్ - asserted laughingly;
Translation
O you naughty one! Is it that you have eaten mud O son!' O Lord! These words of Thy mother, for a long time, Thou kept on denying and laughingly asserted that Thou had not done so.
శ్లోకః
అయి తే సకలైర్వినిశ్చితే విమతిశ్చేద్వదనం విదార్యతామ్ ।
ఇతి మాతృవిభర్త్సితో ముఖం వికసత్పద్మనిభం వ్యదారయః ॥5॥
Meaning
అయి తే - O Boy! Of you; సకలైః-వినిశ్చితే - by every one asserted; విమతిః-చేత్- - is, if disagreed; వదనం విదార్యతాం - mouth (please) open; ఇతి మాతృ-విభర్త్సితః - thus by mother reprimanded; ముఖం వికసత్-పద్మ-నిభం - the mouth opening, lotus like; వ్యదారయః - (Thou) opened;
Translation
O Boy! If you deny what all the others are saying, please open your mouth.' Thus reprimanded by Thy mother, Thou opened Thy mouth as a lotus in full bloom.
శ్లోకః
అపి మృల్లవదర్శనోత్సుకాం జననీం తాం బహు తర్పయన్నివ ।
పృథివీం నిఖిలాం న కేవలం భువనాన్యప్యఖిలాన్యదీదృశః ॥6॥
Meaning
అపి మృల్-లవ - even a mud trace; దర్శన-ఉత్సుకాం - eager to see; జననీం తాం - to mother that; బహు తర్పయన్-ఇవ - very much trying to please as though,; పృథివీం నిఖిలాం - the earth whole; న కేవలం - not only; భువనాన్-అపి- - the other worlds also; అఖిలాన్-అదీదృశః - entirely showed;
Translation
Thy mother was eager to see just a trace of mud in Thy mouth. As though to please her, and to give her abundant satisfaction Thou showed her in Thy mouth not only this whole earth but the entire universe.
శ్లోకః
కుహచిద్వనమంబుధిః క్వచిత్ క్వచిదభ్రం కుహచిద్రసాతలమ్ ।
మనుజా దనుజాః క్వచిత్ సురా దదృశే కిం న తదా త్వదాననే ॥7॥
Meaning
కుహచిత్-వనం- - somewhere the forests; అంబుధిః క్వచిత్ - the oceans somewhere; క్వచిత్-అభ్రం - somewhere the sky; కుహచిత్-రసాతలం - somewhere the Rasaatala; మనుజాః దనుజాః - human beings, demons; క్వచిత్ సురాః - somewhere the devas; దదృశే కిం న - seen what not was; తదా త్వత్-ఆననే - at that time in Thy mouth;
Translation
At that time, in Thy mouth what not was seen by Yashodaa? Somewhere the forests and oceans, somewhere the skies and Rasaatala, human beings and demons, gods and devas!
శ్లోకః
కలశాంబుధిశాయినం పునః పరవైకుంఠపదాధివాసినమ్ ।
స్వపురశ్చ నిజార్భకాత్మకం కతిధా త్వాం న దదర్శ సా ముఖే ॥8॥
Meaning
కలశ-అంబుధి-శాయినం - in the milk ocean, the recliner; పునః పర-వైకుంఠపద- - as the Paramaatamaa, in the Vaikuntha abode; అధివాసినం - the resident; స్వ-పురః-చ - in front of herself; నిజ-అర్భక-ఆత్మకం - as her own son; కతిధా - in how many ways; త్వాం న దదర్శ - Thee did not see; సా ముఖే - she in (Thy) mouth;
Translation
Yashodaa saw in Thy mouth the recliner in the milk ocean. Again she saw Paramaatamaa, the resident of the Vaikunth abode. Then she saw Thee as her son in front of her. In how many different ways did she not see Thee.
శ్లోకః
వికసద్భువనే ముఖోదరే నను భూయోఽపి తథావిధాననః ।
అనయా స్ఫుటమీక్షితో భవాననవస్థాం జగతాం బతాతనోత్ ॥9॥
Meaning
వికసత్-భువనే - revealing the worlds; ముఖ-ఉదరే - in the inside of the mouth; నను భూయః-అపి - indeed then again also; తథా-విధ-ఆననః - that same type of face; అనయా స్ఫుటం-ఈక్షితః - by her was clearly seen; భవాన్-అనవస్థాం - Thou as the infinitude; జగతాం - of the universe; బత్-ఆతనోత్ - definitely expounded;
Translation
In the cavity of Thy mouth she saw all the worlds, where even Thou were present with Thy mouth open, once again, in which again all the worlds were seen; and so on endlessly. This definitely expounded Thou as the infinitude of the universe.
శ్లోకః
ధృతతత్త్వధియం తదా క్షణం జననీం తాం ప్రణయేన మోహయన్ ।
స్తనమంబ దిశేత్యుపాసజన్ భగవన్నద్భుతబాల పాహి మామ్ ॥10॥
Meaning
ధృత-తత్త్వ-ధియం - holding the reality in the mind; తదా క్షణం - at that time for a moment; జననీం తాం - to the mother; ప్రణయేన మోహయన్ - by affection enchanting (deluding); స్తనం-అంబ దిశ- - breast milk O Mother give'; ఇతి-ఉపాసజన్ - thus embracing; భగవన్- - O Lord!; అద్భుత-బాల - O Wonderful Child!; పాహి మాం - protect me;
Translation
At that time for a moment, Yashodaa had a flash of illumination. Thou with affection deluded her and clung to her, calling her 'Mother' and demanded to be suckled. O Lord! Thou the Wondrous Child! Deign to protect me.
