శ్లోకః
రామసఖః క్వాపి దినే కామద భగవన్ గతో భవాన్ విపినమ్ ।
సూనుభిరపి గోపానాం ధేనుభిరభిసంవృతో లసద్వేషః ॥1॥
Meaning
రామసఖః - in Balaraama's company; క్వాపి దినే - one day; కామద భగవన్ - Thou the fulfiller of wishes, O Lord!; గతః భవాన్ - went Thee; విపినమ్ - to the forest; సూనుభిః-అపి - with the sons,also; గోపానామ్ - of the Gopas; ధేనుభిః-అభిసంవృతః - (and) by the cows surrounded; లసత్-వేషః - in a bedecked attire;
Translation
O Lord! Thou the fulfiller of wishes, one day in a bedecked attire, with Balaraama, went to the forest. The sons of the Gopas and the cows also surrounded and followed Thee.
శ్లోకః
సన్దర్శయన్ బలాయ స్వైరం వృన్దావనశ్రియం విమలామ్ ।
కాణ్డీరైః సహ బాలైర్భాణ్డీరకమాగమో వటం క్రీడన్ ॥2॥
Meaning
సన్దర్శయన్ - showing around; బలాయ స్వైరం - to Balaraama joyfully; వృన్దావన-శ్రియం - the beauty of Vrindaavana; విమలామ్ - (which was so) pure; కాణ్డీరైః సహ - with sticks (carrying); బాలైః- - (with) the children (Thou reached); భాణ్డీరకమ్- - (the tree named) Bhaandeeraka; ఆగమః - reached; వటం క్రీడన్ - the tree, playing;
Translation
Joyfully showing around the unspoilt pure beauty of Vrindaavana to Balaraama, accompanied by the cowherd boys, carrying a staff in a playful mood, Thou reached the banyan tree called Bhaandeeraka.
శ్లోకః
తావత్తావకనిధనస్పృహయాలుర్గోపమూర్తిరదయాలుః ।
దైత్యః ప్రలమ్బనామా ప్రలమ్బబాహుం భవన్తమాపేదే ॥3॥
Meaning
తావత్- - then; తావక-నిధన- - Thy death; స్పృహయాలుః-గోపమూర్తిః - desiring, in the disguise of a Gopa; అదయాలుః దైత్యః - a pitiless demon; ప్రలమ్బ-నామా - Pralamba named; ప్రలమ్బ-బాహుం భవన్తమ్- - the long armed Thee; ఆపేదే - approached;
Translation
Then, the pitiless demon, approached Thee in the disguise of a Gopa, desiring to kill Thee, who are with long arms.
శ్లోకః
జానన్నప్యవిజానన్నివ తేన సమం నిబద్ధసౌహార్దః ।
వటనికటే పటుపశుపవ్యాబద్ధం ద్వన్ద్వయుద్ధమారబ్ధాః ॥4॥
Meaning
జానన్-అపి - knowing though; అవిజానన్-ఇవ - not knowing as though; తేన సమం - with him; నిబద్ధ-సౌహార్దః - cultivating friendship; వట-నికటే - near the banyan tree; పటు-పశుప- - by skilled cowherd boys; వ్యాబద్ధం - formed; ద్వన్ద్వ-యుద్ధమ్- - wrestling; ఆరబ్ధాః - started (Thee);
Translation
In spite of knowing fully well of his intention, seemingly unaware of his designs, Thou cultivated friendship with him. Then near the banyan tree, arranging the game of wrestling with the cowherd boys who were skilled in that art, Thou started a duel.
శ్లోకః
గోపాన్ విభజ్య తన్వన్ సఙ్ఘం బలభద్రకం భవత్కమపి ।
త్వద్బలభీరుం దైత్యం త్వద్బలగతమన్వమన్యథా భగవన్ ॥5॥
Meaning
గోపాన్ విభజ్య - the cowherd boys dividing; తన్వన్ సఙ్ఘం - into two teams; బలభద్రకం - of Balaraama; భవత్కమ్-అపి - and of Thee also; త్వత్-బల-భీరుం - Thy strength afraid of; దైత్యం - the demon; త్వద్-బల-గతమ్- - in Thy team joining; అన్వమన్యథా - (Thou) agreed; భగవన్ - O Lord!;
Translation
O Lord! Thou divided the cowherd boys into two teams led by Balaraama and Thyself. The Asura was aware of Thy strength and being afraid wanted to join Thy team, to which Thou agreed.
శ్లోకః
కల్పితవిజేతృవహనే సమరే పరయూథగం స్వదయితతరమ్ ।
శ్రీదామానమధత్థాః పరాజితో భక్తదాసతాం ప్రథయన్ ॥6॥
Meaning
కల్పిత- - as per rules (arranged); విజేతృ-వహనే - the victorious be carried; సమరే పరయూథగం - in the fight, by one of the other team; స్వదయితతరమ్ - very dear to Thee; శ్రీదామానమ్- - Shridaamaa; అధత్థాః పరాజితః - Thou carried, (Thou) being defeated; భక్త-దాసతాం - (Thou) as a servant of Thy devotees; ప్రథయన్ - establishing /demonstrating;
Translation
As per the rules of the game, as was arranged, the victor is to be carried by the vanquished. Thou being defeated, Thou carried the very dear friend Shreedaamaa, there by demonstrating to the world that Thou are at the service of Thy devotees.
శ్లోకః
ఏవం బహుషు విభూమన్ బాలేషు వహత్సు వాహ్యమానేషు ।
రామవిజితః ప్రలమ్బో జహార తం దూరతో భవద్భీత్యా ॥7॥
Meaning
ఏవం బహుషు - thus in many; విభూమన్ - O Infinite One!; బాలేషు వహత్సు - when the children were carrying; వాహ్యమానేషు - and were being carried; రామ-విజితః - by Balaraama defeated; ప్రలమ్బః జహార తం - Pralamba (the demon), took him; దూరతః భవత్-భీత్యా - far away for Thy fear;
Translation
Thus the many cowherd boys were carrying and were being carried. In the course, Pralamba was defeated by Balaraama and so he carried Balaraama far away from Thy sight out of fear of Thee.
శ్లోకః
త్వద్దూరం గమయన్తం తం దృష్ట్వా హలిని విహితగరిమభరే ।
దైత్యః స్వరూపమాగాద్యద్రూపాత్ స హి బలోఽపి చకితోఽభూత్ ॥8॥
Meaning
త్వత్-దూరం గమయన్తమ్ - from Thee far going; తం దృష్ట్వా హలిని - seeing him when Balaraama; విహిత-గరిమ-భరే - took on increased weight; దైత్యః స్వరూపమ్- - the demon to his own form; ఆగాత్-యత్-రూపాత్ - went to by which form; స హి బలః-అపి - he indeed Balaraama also; చకితః-అభూత్ - wonderstruck became;
Translation
Balaraama saw that he was being carried far away, so he increased his weight by his divine power. The demon then took to his own real form, seeing which even Balaraam was wonderstruck.
శ్లోకః
ఉచ్చతయా దైత్యతనోస్త్వన్ముఖమాలోక్య దూరతో రామః ।
విగతభయో దృఢముష్ట్యా భృశదుష్టం సపది పిష్టవానేనమ్ ॥9॥
Meaning
ఉచ్చతయా దైత్య-తనోః- - because of the height of the Asura's body; త్వత్-ముఖమ్- - Thy face; ఆలోక్య - seeing; దూరతః రామః - from a distance, Balaraam; విగత-భయః - overcoming the fear; దృఢ-ముష్ట్యా - by a fierce fist; భృశ-దుష్టం సపది - the extremely wicked (him), quickly; పిష్ట్వాన్ ఏనమ్ - crushed him;
Translation
The Asura's height was great and so being carried on his shoulder, Balaraam could see Thee from a distance. At Thy sight Balaraam shunned all fear and with a firm fist struck the demon and quickly crushed him to a pulp.
శ్లోకః
హత్వా దానవవీరం ప్రాప్తం బలమాలిలిఙ్గిథ ప్రేమ్ణా ।
తావన్మిలతోర్యువయోః శిరసి కృతా పుష్పవృష్టిరమరగణైః ॥10॥
Meaning
హత్వా దానవ-వీరం - killing the clever Asura; ప్రాప్తం బలమ్- - returned Balaraam; ఆలిలిఙ్గిథ - (Thou) embraced; ప్రేమ్ణా తావత- - lovingly, at that time; మిలతోః-యువయోః - when Thou two were meeting; శిరసి కృతా - on Thy heads was done; పుష్పవృష్టిః- - flower showering; అమర-గణైః - by the gods/ devas;
Translation
Balaraama returned after killing the clever Asura and Thou embraced him lovingly. As Thou two were meeting the gods and devas showered flowers on Thy heads.
శ్లోకః
ఆలమ్బో భువనానాం ప్రాలమ్బం నిధనమేవమారచయన్ ।
కాలం విహాయ సద్యో లోలమ్బరుచే హరే హరేః క్లేశాన్ ॥11॥
Meaning
ఆలమ్బః భువనానాం - the support of the worlds; ప్రాలమ్బం నిధనమ్- - Pralambaasura's killing; ఏవమ్-ఆరచయన్ - carrying out; కాలం విహాయ - without delay; సద్యః - quickly; లోలమ్బరుచే - a black bee like splendorous; హరే - O Hari; హరేః - eradicate; క్లేశాన్ - my sufferings;
Translation
O Hari! Thou who has the splendour of a black bee, who are the support of the worlds, Thou who carried out the destruction of Pralambaasura, without delay, quickly eradicate my sufferings.
