ୟଜ୍ଜ୍ଞାତ୍ଵା ମୁନୟଃ ସର୍ଵେ ପରାଂ ସିଦ୍ଧିମିତୋ ଗତାଃ ॥ 1 ॥

Meaning
ଶ୍ରୀ-ଭଗଵାନ୍ ଉଵାଚ — the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; ପରମ୍ — transcendental; ଭୂୟଃ — again; ପ୍ରଵକ୍ଷ୍ୟାମି — I shall speak; ଜ୍ଞାନାନାମ୍ — of all knowledge; ଜ୍ଞାନମ୍ — knowledge; ଉତ୍ତମମ୍ — the supreme; ୟତ୍ — which; ଜ୍ଞାତ୍ଵା — knowing; ମୁନୟଃ — the sages; ସର୍ଵେ — all; ପରାମ୍ — transcendental; ସିଦ୍ଧିମ୍ — perfection; ଇତଃ — from this world; ଗତାଃ — attained.

Translation
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Again I shall declare to you this supreme wisdom, the best of all knowledge, knowing which all the sages have attained the supreme perfection.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଇଦଂ ଜ୍ଞାନମୁପାଶ୍ରିତ୍ୟ ମମ ସାଧର୍ମ୍ୟମାଗତାଃ ।
ସର୍ଗେଽପି ନୋପଜାୟଂତେ ପ୍ରଲୟେ ନ ଵ୍ୟଥଂତି ଚ ॥ 2 ॥

Meaning
ଇଦମ୍ — this; ଜ୍ଞାନମ୍ — knowledge; ଉପାଶ୍ରିତ୍ୟ — taking shelter of; ମମ — My; ସାଧର୍ମ୍ୟମ୍ — same nature; ଆଗତାଃ — having attained; ସର୍ଗେ ଅପି — even in the creation; ନ — never; ଉପଜାୟଂତେ — are born; ପ୍ରଲୟେ — in the annihilation; ନ — nor; ଵ୍ୟଥଂତି — are disturbed; ଚ — also.

Translation
By becoming fixed in this knowledge, one can attain to the transcendental nature like My own. Thus established, one is not born at the time of creation or disturbed at the time of dissolution.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ମମ ୟୋନିର୍ମହଦ୍‍ବ୍ରହ୍ମ ତସ୍ମିନ୍ଗର୍ଭଂ ଦଧାମ୍ୟହମ୍ ।
ସଂଭଵଃ ସର୍ଵଭୂତାନାଂ ତତୋ ଭଵତି ଭାରତ ॥ 3 ॥

Meaning
ମମ — My; ୟୋନିଃ — source of birth; ମହତ୍ — the total material existence; ବ୍ରହ୍ମ — supreme; ତସ୍ମିନ୍ — in that; ଗର୍ଭମ୍ — pregnancy; ଦଧାମି — create; ଅହମ୍ — I; ସଂଭଵଃ — the possibility; ସର୍ଵ-ଭୂତାନାମ୍ — of all living entities; ତତଃ — thereafter; ଭଵତି — becomes; ଭାରତ — O son of Bharata.

Translation
The total material substance, called Brahman, is the source of birth, and it is that Brahman that I impregnate, making possible the births of all living beings, O son of Bharata.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ସର୍ଵୟୋନିଷୁ କୌଂତେୟ ମୂର୍ତୟଃ ସଂଭଵଂତି ୟାଃ ।
ତାସାଂ ବ୍ରହ୍ମ ମହଦ୍ୟୋନିରହଂ ବୀଜପ୍ରଦଃ ପିତା ॥ 4 ॥

Meaning
ସର୍ଵ-ୟୋନିଷୁ — in all species of life; କୌଂତେୟ — O son of Kuntī; ମୂର୍ତୟଃ — forms; ସଂଭଵଂତି — they appear; ୟାଃ — which; ତାସାମ୍ — of all of them; ବ୍ରହ୍ମ — the supreme; ମହତ୍ ୟୋନିଃ — source of birth in the material substance; ଅହମ୍ — I; ବୀଜ-ପ୍ରଦଃ — the seed-giving; ପିତା — father.

Translation
It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kuntī, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving father.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ସତ୍ତ୍ଵଂ ରଜସ୍ତମ ଇତି ଗୁଣାଃ ପ୍ରକୃତିସଂଭଵାଃ ।
ନିବଧ୍‍ନଂତି ମହାବାହୋ ଦେହେ ଦେହିନମଵ୍ୟୟମ୍ ॥ 5 ॥

Meaning
ସତ୍ତ୍ଵମ୍ — the mode of goodness; ରଜଃ — the mode of passion; ତମଃ — the mode of ignorance; ଇତି — thus; ଗୁଣାଃ — the qualities; ପ୍ରକୃତି — material nature; ସଂଭଵାଃ — produced of; ନିବଧ୍ନଂତି — do condition; ମହା-ବାହୋ — O mighty-armed one; ଦେହେ — in this body; ଦେହିନମ୍ — the living entity; ଅଵ୍ୟୟମ୍ — eternal.

Translation
Material nature consists of three modes – goodness, passion and ignorance. When the eternal living entity comes in contact with nature, O mighty-armed Arjuna, he becomes conditioned by these modes.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତତ୍ର ସତ୍ତ୍ଵଂ ନିର୍ମଲତ୍ଵାତ୍ପ୍ରକାଶକମନାମୟମ୍ ।
ସୁଖସଂଗେନ ବଧ୍‍ନାତି ଜ୍ଞାନସଂଗେନ ଚାନଘ ॥ 6 ॥

Meaning
ତତ୍ର — there; ସତ୍ତ୍ଵମ୍ — the mode of goodness; ନିର୍ମଲତ୍ଵାତ୍ — being purest in the material world; ପ୍ରକାଶକମ୍ — illuminating; ଅନାମୟମ୍ — without any sinful reaction; ସୁଖ — with happiness; ସଂଗେନ — by association; ବଧ୍ନାତି — conditions; ଜ୍ଞାନ — with knowledge; ସଂଗେନ — by association; ଚ — also; ଅନଘ — O sinless one.

Translation
O sinless one, the mode of goodness, being purer than the others, is illuminating, and it frees one from all sinful reactions. Those situated in that mode become conditioned by a sense of happiness and knowledge.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ରଜୋ ରାଗାତ୍ମକଂ ଵିଦ୍ଧି ତୃଷ୍ଣାସଂଗସମୁଦ୍ଭ‍ଵମ୍ ।
ତନ୍ନିବଧ୍‍ନାତି କୌଂତେୟ କର୍ମସଂଗେନ ଦେହିନମ୍ ॥ 7 ॥

Meaning
ରଜଃ — the mode of passion; ରାଗ-ଆତ୍ମକମ୍ — born of desire or lust; ଵିଦ୍ଧି — know; ତୃଷ୍ଣା — with hankering; ସଂଗ — association; ସମୁଦ୍ଭଵମ୍ — produced of; ତତ୍ — that; ନିବଧ୍ନାତି — binds; କୌଂତେୟ — O son of Kuntī; କର୍ମ-ସଂଗେନ — by association with fruitive activity; ଦେହିନମ୍ — the embodied.

Translation
The mode of passion is born of unlimited desires and longings, O son of Kuntī, and because of this the embodied living entity is bound to material fruitive actions.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତମସ୍ତ୍ଵଜ୍ଞାନଜଂ ଵିଦ୍ଧି ମୋହନଂ ସର୍ଵଦେହିନାମ୍ ।
ପ୍ରମାଦାଲସ୍ୟନିଦ୍ରାଭିସ୍ତନ୍ନିବଧ୍‍ନାତି ଭାରତ ॥ 8 ॥

Meaning
ତମଃ — the mode of ignorance; ତୁ — but; ଅଜ୍ଞାନ-ଜମ୍ — produced of ignorance; ଵିଦ୍ଧି — know; ମୋହନମ୍ — the delusion; ସର୍ଵ-ଦେହିନାମ୍ — of all embodied beings; ପ୍ରମାଦ — with madness; ଆଲସ୍ୟ — indolence; ନିଦ୍ରାଭିଃ — and sleep; ତତ୍ — that; ନିବଧ୍ନାତି — binds; ଭାରତ — O son of Bharata.

Translation
O son of Bharata, know that the mode of darkness, born of ignorance, is the delusion of all embodied living entities. The results of this mode are madness, indolence and sleep, which bind the conditioned soul.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ସତ୍ତ୍ଵଂ ସୁଖେ ସଂଜୟତି ରଜଃ କର୍ମଣି ଭାରତ ।
ଜ୍ଞାନମାଵୃତ୍ୟ ତୁ ତମଃ ପ୍ରମାଦେ ସଂଜୟତ୍ୟୁତ ॥ 9 ॥

Meaning
ସତ୍ତ୍ଵମ୍ — the mode of goodness; ସୁଖେ — in happiness; ସଂଜୟତି — binds; ରଜଃ — the mode of passion; କର୍ମଣି — in fruitive activity; ଭାରତ — O son of Bharata; ଜ୍ଞାନମ୍ — knowledge; ଆଵୃତ୍ୟ — covering; ତୁ — but; ତମଃ — the mode of ignorance; ପ୍ରମାଦେ — in madness; ସଂଜୟତି — binds; ଉତ — it is said.

Translation
O son of Bharata, the mode of goodness conditions one to happiness; passion conditions one to fruitive action; and ignorance, covering one’s knowledge, binds one to madness.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ରଜସ୍ତମଶ୍ଚାଭିଭୂୟ ସତ୍ତ୍ଵଂ ଭଵତି ଭାରତ ।
ରଜଃ ସତ୍ତ୍ଵଂ ତମଶ୍ଚୈଵ ତମଃ ସତ୍ତ୍ଵଂ ରଜସ୍ତଥା ॥ 10 ॥

Meaning
ରଜଃ — the mode of passion; ତମଃ — the mode of ignorance; ଚ — also; ଅଭିଭୂୟ — surpassing; ସତ୍ତ୍ଵମ୍ — the mode of goodness; ଭଵତି — becomes prominent; ଭାରତ — O son of Bharata; ରଜଃ — the mode of passion; ସତ୍ତ୍ଵମ୍ — the mode of goodness; ତମଃ — the mode of ignorance; ଚ — also; ଏଵ — like that; ତମଃ — the mode of ignorance; ସତ୍ତ୍ଵମ୍ — the mode of goodness; ରଜଃ — the mode of passion; ତଥା — thus.

Translation
Sometimes the mode of goodness becomes prominent, defeating the modes of passion and ignorance, O son of Bharata. Sometimes the mode of passion defeats goodness and ignorance, and at other times ignorance defeats goodness and passion. In this way there is always competition for supremacy.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ସର୍ଵଦ୍ଵାରେଷୁ ଦେହେଽସ୍ମିନ୍ପ୍ରକାଶ ଉପଜାୟତେ ।
ଜ୍ଞାନଂ ୟଦା ତଦା ଵିଦ୍ୟାଦ୍ଵିଵୃଦ୍ଧଂ ସତ୍ତ୍ଵମିତ୍ୟୁତ ॥ 11 ॥

Meaning
ସର୍ଵ-ଦ୍ଵାରେଷୁ — in all the gates; ଦେହେ ଅସ୍ମିନ୍ — in this body; ପ୍ରକାଶଃ — the quality of illumination; ଉପଜାୟତେ — develops; ଜ୍ଞାନମ୍ — knowledge; ୟଦା — when; ତଦା — at that time; ଵିଦ୍ୟାତ୍ — know; ଵିଵୃଦ୍ଧମ୍ — increased; ସତ୍ତ୍ଵମ୍ — the mode of goodness; ଇତି ଉତ — thus it is said.

Translation
The manifestation of the mode of goodness can be experienced when all the gates of the body are illuminated by knowledge.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଲୋଭଃ ପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତିରାରଂଭଃ କର୍ମଣାମଶମଃ ସ୍ପୃହା ।
ରଜସ୍ୟେତାନି ଜାୟଂତେ ଵିଵୃଦ୍ଧେ ଭରତର୍ଷଭ ॥ 12 ॥

Meaning
ଲୋଭଃ — greed; ପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତିଃ — activity; ଆରଂଭଃ — endeavor; କର୍ମଣାମ୍ — in activities; ଅଶମଃ — uncontrollable; ସ୍ପୃହା — desire; ରଜସି — of the mode of passion; ଏତାନି — all these; ଜାୟଂତେ — develop; ଵିଵୃଦ୍ଧେ — when there is an excess; ଭରତ-ଋଷଭ — O chief of the descendants of Bharata.

Translation
O chief of the Bhāratas, when there is an increase in the mode of passion the symptoms of great attachment, fruitive activity, intense endeavor, and uncontrollable desire and hankering develop.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଅପ୍ରକାଶୋଽପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତିଶ୍ଚ ପ୍ରମାଦୋ ମୋହ ଏଵ ଚ ।
ତମସ୍ୟେତାନି ଜାୟଂତେ ଵିଵୃଦ୍ଧେ କୁରୁନଂଦନ ॥ 13 ॥

Meaning
ଅପ୍ରକାଶଃ — darkness; ଅପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତିଃ — inactivity; ଚ — and; ପ୍ରମାଦଃ — madness; ମୋହଃ — illusion; ଏଵ — certainly; ଚ — also; ତମସି — the mode of ignorance; ଏତାନି — these; ଜାୟଂତେ — are manifested; ଵିଵୃଦ୍ଧେ — when developed; କୁରୁ-ନଂଦନ — O son of Kuru.

Translation
When there is an increase in the mode of ignorance, O son of Kuru, darkness, inertia, madness and illusion are manifested.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ୟଦା ସତ୍ତ୍ଵେ ପ୍ରଵୃଦ୍ଧେ ତୁ ପ୍ରଲୟଂ ୟାତି ଦେହଭୃତ୍ ।
ତଦୋତ୍ତମଵିଦାଂ ଲୋକାନମଲାନ୍ପ୍ରତିପଦ୍ୟତେ ॥ 14 ॥

Meaning
ୟଦା — when; ସତ୍ତ୍ଵେ — the mode of goodness; ପ୍ରଵୃଦ୍ଧେ — developed; ତୁ — but; ପ୍ରଲୟମ୍ — dissolution; ୟାତି — goes; ଦେହ-ଭୃତ୍ — the embodied; ତଦା — at that time; ଉତ୍ତମ-ଵିଦାମ୍ — of the great sages; ଲୋକାନ୍ — the planets; ଅମଲାନ୍ — pure; ପ୍ରତିପଦ୍ୟତେ — attains.

Translation
When one dies in the mode of goodness, he attains to the pure higher planets of the great sages.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ରଜସି ପ୍ରଲୟଂ ଗତ୍ଵା କର୍ମସଂଗିଷୁ ଜାୟତେ ।
ତଥା ପ୍ରଲୀନସ୍ତମସି ମୂଢୟୋନିଷୁ ଜାୟତେ ॥ 15 ॥

Meaning
ରଜସି — in passion; ପ୍ରଲୟମ୍ — dissolution; ଗତ୍ଵା — attaining; କର୍ମ-ସଂଗିଷୁ — in the association of those engaged in fruitive activities; ଜାୟତେ — takes birth; ତଥା — similarly; ପ୍ରଲୀନଃ — being dissolved; ତମସି — in ignorance; ମୂଢ-ୟୋନିଷୁ — in animal species; ଜାୟତେ — takes birth.

Translation
When one dies in the mode of passion, he takes birth among those engaged in fruitive activities; and when one dies in the mode of ignorance, he takes birth in the animal kingdom.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
କର୍ମଣଃ ସୁକୃତସ୍ୟାହୁଃ ସାତ୍ତ୍ଵିକଂ ନିର୍ମଲଂ ଫଲମ୍ ।
ରଜସସ୍ତୁ ଫଲଂ ଦୁଃଖମଜ୍ଞାନଂ ତମସଃ ଫଲମ୍ ॥ 16 ॥

Meaning
କର୍ମଣଃ — of work; ସୁ-କୃତସ୍ୟ — pious; ଆହୁଃ — is said; ସାତ୍ତ୍ଵିକମ୍ — in the mode of goodness; ନିର୍ମଲମ୍ — purified; ଫଲମ୍ — the result; ରଜସଃ — of the mode of passion; ତୁ — but; ଫଲମ୍ — the result; ଦୁଃଖମ୍ — misery; ଅଜ୍ଞାନମ୍ — nonsense; ତମସଃ — of the mode of ignorance; ଫଲମ୍ — the result.

Translation
The result of pious action is pure and is said to be in the mode of goodness. But action done in the mode of passion results in misery, and action performed in the mode of ignorance results in foolishness.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ସତ୍ତ୍ଵାତ୍ସଂଜାୟତେ ଜ୍ଞାନଂ ରଜସୋ ଲୋଭ ଏଵ ଚ ।
ପ୍ରମାଦମୋହୌ ତମସୋ ଭଵତୋଽଜ୍ଞାନମେଵ ଚ ॥ 17 ॥

Meaning
ସତ୍ତ୍ଵାତ୍ — from the mode of goodness; ସଂଜାୟତେ — develops; ଜ୍ଞାନମ୍ — knowledge; ରଜସଃ — from the mode of passion; ଲୋଭଃ — greed; ଏଵ — certainly; ଚ — also; ପ୍ରମାଦ — madness; ମୋହୌ — and illusion; ତମସଃ — from the mode of ignorance; ଭଵତଃ — develop; ଅଜ୍ଞାନମ୍ — nonsense; ଏଵ — certainly; ଚ — also.

Translation
From the mode of goodness, real knowledge develops; from the mode of passion, greed develops; and from the mode of ignorance develop foolishness, madness and illusion.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଊର୍ଧ୍ଵଂ ଗଚ୍ଛଂତି ସତ୍ତ୍ଵସ୍ଥା ମଧ୍ୟେ ତିଷ୍ଠଂତି ରାଜସାଃ ।
ଜଘନ୍ୟଗୁଣଵୃତ୍ତିସ୍ଥା ଅଧୋ ଗଚ୍ଛଂତି ତାମସାଃ ॥ 18 ॥

Meaning
ଊର୍ଧ୍ଵମ୍ — upwards; ଗଚ୍ଚଂତି — go; ସତ୍ତ୍ଵ-ସ୍ଥାଃ — those situated in the mode of goodness; ମଧ୍ୟେ — in the middle; ତିଷ୍ଠଂତି — dwell; ରାଜସାଃ — those situated in the mode of passion; ଜଘନ୍ୟ — of abominable; ଗୁଣ — quality; ଵୃତ୍ତି-ସ୍ଥାଃ — whose occupation; ଅଧଃ — down; ଗଚ୍ଚଂତି — go; ତାମସାଃ — persons in the mode of ignorance.

Translation
Those situated in the mode of goodness gradually go upward to the higher planets; those in the mode of passion live on the earthly planets; and those in the abominable mode of ignorance go down to the hellish worlds.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ନାନ୍ୟଂ ଗୁଣେଭ୍ୟଃ କର୍ତାରଂ ୟଦା ଦ୍ରଷ୍ଟାନୁପଶ୍ୟତି ।
ଗୁଣେଭ୍ୟଶ୍ଚ ପରଂ ଵେତ୍ତି ମଦ୍ଭ‍ଆଵଂ ସୋଽଧିଗଚ୍ଛତି ॥ 19 ॥

Meaning
ନ — no; ଅନ୍ୟମ୍ — other; ଗୁଣେଭ୍ୟଃ — than the qualities; କର୍ତାରମ୍ — performer; ୟଦା — when; ଦ୍ରଷ୍ଟା — a seer; ଅନୁପଶ୍ୟତି — sees properly; ଗୁଣେଭ୍ୟଃ — to the modes of nature; ଚ — and; ପରମ୍ — transcendental; ଵେତ୍ତି — knows; ମତ୍-ଭାଵମ୍ — to My spiritual nature; ସଃ — he; ଅଧିଗଚ୍ଚତି — is promoted.

Translation
When one properly sees that in all activities no other performer is at work than these modes of nature and he knows the Supreme Lord, who is transcendental to all these modes, he attains My spiritual nature.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଗୁଣାନେତାନତୀତ୍ୟ ତ୍ରୀଂଦେହୀ ଦେହସମୁଦ୍ଭ‍ଵାନ୍ ।
ଜନ୍ମମୃତ୍ୟୁଜରାଦୁଃଖୈର୍ଵିମୁକ୍ତୋଽମୃତମଶ୍ନ‍ଉତେ ॥ 20 ॥

Meaning
ଗୁଣାନ୍ — qualities; ଏତାନ୍ — all these; ଅତୀତ୍ୟ — transcending; ତ୍ରୀନ୍ — three; ଦେହୀ — the embodied; ଦେହ — the body; ସମୁଦ୍ଭଵାନ୍ — produced of; ଜନ୍ମ — of birth; ମୃତ୍ୟୁ — death; ଜରା — and old age; ଦୁଃଖୈଃ — the distresses; ଵିମୁକ୍ତଃ — being freed from; ଅମୃତମ୍ — nectar; ଅଶ୍ନୁତେ — he enjoys.

Translation
When the embodied being is able to transcend these three modes associated with the material body, he can become free from birth, death, old age and their distresses and can enjoy nectar even in this life.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଅର୍ଜୁନ ଉଵାଚ
କୈର୍ଲିଂଗୈସ୍ତ୍ରୀନ୍ଗୁଣାନେତାନତୀତୋ ଭଵତି ପ୍ରଭୋ ।
କିମାଚାରଃ କଥଂ ଚୈତାଂସ୍ତ୍ରୀନ୍ଗୁଣାନତିଵର୍ତତେ ॥ 21 ॥

Meaning
ଅର୍ଜୁନଃ ଉଵାଚ — Arjuna said; କୈଃ — by which; ଲିଂଗୈଃ — symptoms; ତ୍ରୀନ୍ — three; ଗୁଣାନ୍ — qualities; ଏତାନ୍ — all these; ଅତୀତଃ — having transcended; ଭଵତି — is; ପ୍ରଭୋ — O my Lord; କିମ୍ — what; ଆଚାରଃ — behavior; କଥମ୍ — how; ଚ — also; ଏତାନ୍ — these; ତ୍ରୀନ୍ — three; ଗୁଣାନ୍ — qualities; ଅତିଵର୍ତତେ — transcends.

Translation
Arjuna inquired: O my dear Lord, by which symptoms is one known who is transcendental to these three modes? What is his behavior? And how does he transcend the modes of nature?

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଶ୍ରୀଭଗଵାନୁଵାଚ
ପ୍ରକାଶଂ ଚ ପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତିଂ ଚ ମୋହମେଵ ଚ ପାଂଡଵ ।
ନ ଦ୍ଵେଷ୍ଟି ସଂପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତାନି ନ ନିଵୃତ୍ତାନି କାଙ୍‍କ୍ଷତି ॥ 22 ॥
ଉଦାସୀନଵଦାସୀନୋ ଗୁଣୈର୍ୟୋ ନ ଵିଚାଲ୍ୟତେ ।
ଗୁଣା ଵର୍ତଂତ ଇତ୍ୟେଵଂ ୟୋଽଵତିଷ୍ଠତି ନେଂଗତେ ॥ 23 ॥
ସମଦୁଃଖସୁଖଃ ସ୍ଵସ୍ଥଃ ସମଲୋଷ୍ଟାଶ୍ମକାଂଚନଃ ।
ତୁଲ୍ୟପ୍ରିୟାପ୍ରିୟୋ ଧୀରସ୍ତୁଲ୍ୟନିଂଦାତ୍ମସଂସ୍ତୁତିଃ ॥ 24 ॥
ମାନାପମାନୟୋସ୍ତୁଲ୍ୟସ୍ତୁଲ୍ୟୋ ମିତ୍ରାରିପକ୍ଷୟୋଃ ।
ସର୍ଵାରଂଭପରିତ୍ୟାଗୀ ଗୁଣାତୀତଃ ସ ଉଚ୍ୟତେ ॥ 25 ॥

ଶ୍ରୀ-ଭଗଵାନ୍ ଉଵାଚ — the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; ପ୍ରକାଶମ୍ — illumination; ଚ — and; ପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତିମ୍ — attachment; ଚ — and; ମୋହମ୍ — illusion; ଏଵ ଚ — also; ପାଂଡଵ — O son of Pāṇḍu; ନ ଦ୍ଵେଷ୍ଟି — does not hate; ସଂପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତାନି — although developed; ନ ନିଵୃତ୍ତାନି — nor stopping development; କାଂକ୍ଷତି — desires; ଉଦାସୀନ-ଵତ୍ — as if neutral; ଆସୀନଃ — situated; ଗୁଣୈଃ — by the qualities; ୟଃ — one who; ନ — never; ଵିଚାଲ୍ୟତେ — is agitated; ଗୁଣାଃ — the qualities; ଵର୍ତଂତେ — are acting; ଇତି ଏଵମ୍ — knowing thus; ୟଃ — one who; ଅଵତିଷ୍ଠତି — remains; ନ — never; ଇଂଗତେ — flickers; ସମ — equal; ଦୁଃଖ — in distress; ସୁଖଃ — and happiness; ସ୍ଵ-ସ୍ଥଃ — being situated in himself; ସମ — equally; ଲୋଷ୍ଟ — a lump of earth; ଅଶ୍ମ — stone; କାଂଚନଃ — gold; ତୁଲ୍ୟ — equally disposed; ପ୍ରିୟ — to the dear; ଅପ୍ରିୟଃ — and the undesirable; ଧୀରଃ — steady; ତୁଲ୍ୟ — equal; ନିଂଦା — in defamation; ଆତ୍ମ-ସଂସ୍ତୁତିଃ — and praise of himself; ମାନ — in honor; ଅପମାନୟୋଃ — and dishonor; ତୁଲ୍ୟଃ — equal; ତୁଲ୍ୟଃ — equal; ମିତ୍ର — of friends; ଅରି — and enemies; ପକ୍ଷୟୋଃ — to the parties; ସର୍ଵ — of all; ଆରଂଭ — endeavors; ପରିତ୍ୟାଗୀ — renouncer; ଗୁଣ-ଅତୀତଃ — transcendental to the material modes of nature; ସଃ — he; ଉଚ୍ୟତେ — is said to be.

Translation
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: O son of Pāṇḍu, he who does not hate illumination, attachment and delusion when they are present or long for them when they disappear; who is unwavering and undisturbed through all these reactions of the material qualities, remaining neutral and transcendental, knowing that the modes alone are active; who is situated in the self and regards alike happiness and distress; who looks upon a lump of earth, a stone and a piece of gold with an equal eye; who is equal toward the desirable and the undesirable; who is steady, situated equally well in praise and blame, honor and dishonor; who treats alike both friend and enemy; and who has renounced all material activities – such a person is said to have transcended the modes of nature.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ମାଂ ଚ ୟୋଽଵ୍ୟଭିଚାରେଣ ଭକ୍ତିୟୋଗେନ ସେଵତେ ।
ସ ଗୁଣାନ୍ସମତୀତ୍ୟୈତାନ୍ବ୍ରହ୍ମଭୂୟାୟ କଲ୍ପତେ ॥ 26 ॥

Meaning
ମାମ୍ — unto Me; ଚ — also; ୟଃ — a person who; ଅଵ୍ୟଭିଚାରେଣ — without fail; ଭକ୍ତି-ୟୋଗେନ — by devotional service; ସେଵତେ — renders service; ସଃ — he; ଗୁଣାନ୍ — the modes of material nature; ସମତୀତ୍ୟ — transcending; ଏତାନ୍ — all these; ବ୍ରହ୍ମ-ଭୂୟାୟ — elevated to the Brahman platform; କଲ୍ପତେ — becomes.

Translation
One who engages in full devotional service, unfailing in all circumstances, at once transcends the modes of material nature and thus comes to the level of Brahman.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ବ୍ରହ୍ମଣୋ ହି ପ୍ରତିଷ୍ଠାହମମୃତସ୍ୟାଵ୍ୟୟସ୍ୟ ଚ ।
ଶାଶ୍ଵତସ୍ୟ ଚ ଧର୍ମସ୍ୟ ସୁଖସ୍ୟୈକାଂତିକସ୍ୟ ଚ ॥ 27 ॥

Meaning
ବ୍ରହ୍ମଣଃ — of the impersonal brahma-jyotir; ହି — certainly; ପ୍ରତିଷ୍ଠା — the rest; ଅହମ୍ — I am; ଅମୃତସ୍ୟ — of the immortal; ଅଵ୍ୟୟସ୍ୟ — of the imperishable; ଚ — also; ଶାଶ୍ଵତସ୍ୟ — of the eternal; ଚ — and; ଧର୍ମସ୍ୟ — of the constitutional position; ସୁଖସ୍ୟ — of happiness; ଐକାଂତିକସ୍ୟ — ultimate; ଚ — also.

Translation
And I am the basis of the impersonal Brahman, which is immortal, imperishable and eternal and is the constitutional position of ultimate happiness.
