ଗୋପୀଜନାୟ କଥିତଂ ନିୟମାଵସାନେ
ମାରୋତ୍ସଵଂ ତ୍ଵମଥ ସାଧୟିତୁଂ ପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତଃ ।
ସାଂଦ୍ରେଣ ଚାଂଦ୍ରମହସା ଶିଶିରୀକୃତାଶେ
ପ୍ରାପୂରୟୋ ମୁରଲିକାଂ ୟମୁନାଵନାଂତେ ॥1॥
Meaning
ଗୋପୀଜନାୟ - for the Gopikaas; କଥିତଂ - said (promised); ନିୟମ-ଅଵସାନେ - (when their) vows had ended; ମାର-ଉତ୍ସଵଂ - the love-god festival; ତ୍ଵମ୍-ଅଥ - Thou then; ସାଧୟିତୁଂ ପ୍ରଵୃତ୍ତଃ - to carry out (fulfill) decided; ସାଂଦ୍ରେଣ ଚାଂଦ୍ରମହସା - with bright light of the full moon; ଶିଶିରୀ-କୃତ-ଆଶେ - and cooled all the directions; ପ୍ରାପୂରୟଃ ମୁରଲିକାଂ - (Thou) filled well (played) the flute; ୟମୁନା-ଵନ-ଅଂତେ - in the forests on the banks of Yamunaa;
Translation
Thou then decided to carry out the festival of the love god, which Thou had promised to the Gopikaas when their vows had ended. One night, with the bright light of the full moon, when all the directions were cool, in the forest on the banks of the river Yamunaa, Thou resoundingly played the flute.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ସମ୍ମୂର୍ଛନାଭିରୁଦିତସ୍ଵରମଂଡଲାଭିଃ
ସମ୍ମୂର୍ଛୟଂତମଖିଲଂ ଭୁଵନାଂତରାଲମ୍ ।
ତ୍ଵଦ୍ଵେଣୁନାଦମୁପକର୍ଣ୍ୟ ଵିଭୋ ତରୁଣ୍ୟ-
ସ୍ତତ୍ତାଦୃଶଂ କମପି ଚିତ୍ତଵିମୋହମାପୁଃ ॥2॥
Meaning
ସମ୍ମୂର୍ଛନାଭିଃ- - by the seven (ascending and descending) notes; ଉଦିତ- - emerging; ସ୍ଵରମଂଡଲାଭିଃ - in a musical strain; ସମ୍ମୂର୍ଛୟଂତମ୍- - enchanting; ଅଖିଲଂ - everything; ଭୁଵନ-ଅଂତରାଲମ୍ - in the world space; ତ୍ଵତ୍-ଵେଣୁ-ନାଦମ୍- - Thy flute resounding; ଉପକର୍ଣ୍ୟ ଵିଭୋ - hearing (which) O All pervading Lord!; ତରୁଣ୍ୟଃ-ତତ୍-ତାଦୃଶଂ - the damsels, that compared to that (incomparable); କମ୍-ଅପି - some (sort of); ଚିତ୍ତ-ଵିମୋହମ୍-ଆପୁଃ - mind captivation attained to;
Translation
O All pervading Lord! In the resounding sound of Thy flute the seven ascending and descending notes emerged in a musical strain and enchanted everything in the world space. Hearing which the damsels attained an unparalleled and incomparable captivating state of their mind.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତା ଗେହକୃତ୍ୟନିରତାସ୍ତନୟପ୍ରସକ୍ତାଃ
କାଂତୋପସେଵନପରାଶ୍ଚ ସରୋରୁହାକ୍ଷ୍ୟଃ ।
ସର୍ଵଂ ଵିସୃଜ୍ୟ ମୁରଲୀରଵମୋହିତାସ୍ତେ
କାଂତାରଦେଶମୟି କାଂତତନୋ ସମେତାଃ ॥3॥
Meaning
ତାଃ - they; ଗେହ-କୃତ୍ୟ-ନିରତାଃ- - who were in household duties engaged; ତନୟ-ପ୍ରସକ୍ତାଃ - (or) were their children tending; କାଂତ-ଉପସେଵନ-ପରାଃ-ଚ - and in the husband's service eager; ସରୋରୁହ-ଆକ୍ଷ୍ୟଃ - (they) the lotus eyed damsels; ସର୍ଵଂ ଵିସୃଜ୍ୟ - everything abandoning; ମୁରଲୀ-ରଵ- - (by) the flute sound; ମୋହିତାଃ-ତେ - captivated they (the damsels); କାଂତାର-ଦେଶମ୍- - to the forest place; ଅୟି କାଂତ-ତନୋ - O Resplendent One!; ସମେତାଃ - came;
Translation
O Resplendent One! The lotus eyed damsels were captivated by the sound of Thy flute. They, who were engaged in the household duties, or were taking care of their children, or were engaged in serving their husbands, abandoned everything and came rushing to the forest place.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
କାଶ୍ଚିନ୍ନିଜାଂଗପରିଭୂଷଣମାଦଧାନା
ଵେଣୁପ୍ରଣାଦମୁପକର୍ଣ୍ୟ କୃତାର୍ଧଭୂଷାଃ ।
ତ୍ଵାମାଗତା ନନୁ ତଥୈଵ ଵିଭୂଷିତାଭ୍ୟ-
ସ୍ତା ଏଵ ସଂରୁରୁଚିରେ ତଵ ଲୋଚନାୟ ॥4॥
Meaning
କାଶ୍ଚିତ୍- - some (damsels); ନିଜ-ଅଂଗ- - their own bodies; ପରିଭୂଷଣମ୍- - (with) dress and jewels; ଆଦଧାନା - adorning; ଵେଣୁ-ପ୍ରଣାଦମ୍- - the resounding flute sound; ଉପକର୍ଣ୍ୟ - hearing; କୃତ-ଅର୍ଧ-ଭୂଷାଃ - having adorned half way only; ତ୍ଵାମ୍-ଆଗତାଃ - to Thee came; ନନୁ ତଥା-ଏଵ - indeed thus only; ଵିଭୂଷିତାଭ୍ୟଃ - than those who were fully adorned; ତା ଏଵ - they only; ସଂରୁରୁଚିରେ - were more pleasing; ତଵ ଲୋଚନାୟ - for Thy eyes;
Translation
Some of the damsels were dressing up and adorning their bodies with jewels. As they heard the resounding sound of the flute, they came to Thee having adorned themselves halfway. For Thy eyes they were far more pleasing indeed than those who were fully adorned.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ହାରଂ ନିତଂବଭୁଵି କାଚନ ଧାରୟଂତୀ
କାଂଚୀଂ ଚ କଂଠଭୁଵି ଦେଵ ସମାଗତା ତ୍ଵାମ୍ ।
ହାରିତ୍ଵମାତ୍ମଜଘନସ୍ୟ ମୁକୁଂଦ ତୁଭ୍ୟଂ
ଵ୍ୟକ୍ତଂ ବଭାଷ ଇଵ ମୁଗ୍ଧମୁଖୀ ଵିଶେଷାତ୍ ॥5॥
Meaning
ହାରଂ ନିତଂବ-ଭୁଵି - necklace on the hip area; କାଚନ ଧାରୟଂତୀ - someone wearing; କାଂଚୀଂ ଚ - and the waist band; କଂଠ-ଭୁଵି - in the neck area; ଦେଵ - O Lord!; ସମାଗତା ତ୍ଵାମ୍ - came to Thee; ହାରିତ୍ଵମ୍- - the attractiveness; ଆତ୍ମ-ଜଘନସ୍ୟ - of her own hips; ମୁକୁଂଦ ତୁଭ୍ୟଂ - O Mukund for Thee; ଵ୍ୟକ୍ତଂ ବଭାଷ ଇଵ - clearly declared as if; ମୁଗ୍ଧମୁଖୀ - the charming faced one; ଵିଶେଷାତ୍ - in particular;
Translation
O Lord! One woman, in her haste, came to Thee wearing a necklace on the hips and the waist band in the neck area. O Mukund! It was as if the charming faced one clearly indicated to Thee in particular the attractiveness of her own hips.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
କାଚିତ୍ କୁଚେ ପୁନରସଜ୍ଜିତକଂଚୁଲୀକା
ଵ୍ୟାମୋହତଃ ପରଵଧୂଭିରଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟମାଣା ।
ତ୍ଵାମାୟୟୌ ନିରୁପମପ୍ରଣୟାତିଭାର-
ରାଜ୍ୟାଭିଷେକଵିଧୟେ କଲଶୀଧରେଵ ॥6॥
Meaning
କାଚିତ୍ କୁଚେ - some one ,on her breasts; ପୁନଃ-ଅସଜ୍ଜିତ- - again not wearing; କଂଚୁଲୀକା - the upper garment; ଵ୍ୟାମୋହତଃ - because of excitement; ପରଵଧୂଭିଃ- - by other women; ଅଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟମାଣା - also not noticed; ତ୍ଵାମ୍-ଆୟୟୌ - to Thee came; ନିରୁପମ-ପ୍ରଣୟ- - (as if) unparalleled (intense) love; ଅତିଭାର- - intense (weighed down by); ରାଜ୍ୟ-ଅଭିଷେକ-ଵିଧୟେ - kingdom coronation celebration; କଲଶୀଧର-ଇଵ - water pitchers as if;
Translation
Some another woman, in her excitement came to Thee not wearing any upper garment on her breasts. She was not noticed in such a state by the other women, who were as excited. It was as if she was weighed down by the unparalleled intense love she carried as water pitchers as breasts for the celebration of Thy coronation in the kingdom of love.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
କାଶ୍ଚିତ୍ ଗୃହାତ୍ କିଲ ନିରେତୁମପାରୟଂତ୍ୟ-
ସ୍ତ୍ଵାମେଵ ଦେଵ ହୃଦୟେ ସୁଦୃଢଂ ଵିଭାଵ୍ୟ ।
ଦେହଂ ଵିଧୂୟ ପରଚିତ୍ସୁଖରୂପମେକଂ
ତ୍ଵାମାଵିଶନ୍ ପରମିମା ନନୁ ଧନ୍ୟଧନ୍ୟାଃ ॥7॥
Meaning
କାଶ୍ଚିତ୍ ଗୃହାତ୍ - some one from home; କିଲ ନିରେତୁମ୍- - indeed to come out; ଅପାରୟଂତ୍ୟଃ - being unable; ତ୍ଵାମ୍-ଏଵ ଦେଵ - Thee alone O Lord!; ହୃଦୟେ ସୁଦୃଢଂ ଵିଭାଵ୍ୟ - in heart firmly meditating; ଦେହଂ ଵିଧୂୟ - body giving up; ପର-ଚିତ୍-ସୁଖ- - the Supreme conscious bliss; ରୂପମ୍-ଏକଂ ତ୍ଵାମ୍- - form of non-dual, in Thee; ଆଵିଶନ୍ - merging; ପରମ୍-ଇମାଃ-ନନୁ - very much these (women) indeed; ଧନ୍ୟ-ଧନ୍ୟାଃ - (were) most fortunate;
Translation
Some of them were indeed unable to come out from home. O Lord! They meditated on Thee firmly in their hearts. With the result, they gave up their bodies and merged with Thy non dual form and attained the Supreme consciousness bliss. These indeed were the most fortunate ones.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଜାରାତ୍ମନା ନ ପରମାତ୍ମତୟା ସ୍ମରଂତ୍ୟୋ
ନାର୍ୟୋ ଗତାଃ ପରମହଂସଗତିଂ କ୍ଷଣେନ ।
ତଂ ତ୍ଵାଂ ପ୍ରକାଶପରମାତ୍ମତନୁଂ କଥଂଚି-
ଚ୍ଚିତ୍ତେ ଵହନ୍ନମୃତମଶ୍ରମମଶ୍ନୁଵୀୟ ॥8॥
Meaning
ଜାରାତ୍ମନା - by the feeling of paramour; ନ ପରମାତ୍ମତୟା - not by the feeling of godliness; ସ୍ମରଂତ୍ୟଃ - thinking of Thee; ନାର୍ୟଃ ଗତାଃ - the women attained; ପରମହଂସଗତିଂ - to the state of liberation; କ୍ଷଣେନ ତଂ ତ୍ଵାଂ - in a moment, that Thou; ପ୍ରକାଶ-ପରମାତ୍ମ-ତନୁଂ - resplendent supreme form; କଥଂଚିତ୍- - in any manner; ଚିତ୍ତେ ଵହନ୍- - in the mind holding (meditating); ଅମୃତମ୍- - the state of immortality; ଅଶ୍ରମମ୍-ଅଶ୍ନୁଵୀୟ - effortlessly may I attain;
Translation
These women thought of Thee and remembered Thee not with the feeling of godliness, Paramaatmaa, but with the feeling of paramour. In a moment, they attained the state of liberation with Thee. O Supreme Resplendent form! Meditating in the mind in some or the other manner may I attain the state of immortality effortlessly.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଅଭ୍ୟାଗତାଭିରଭିତୋ ଵ୍ରଜସୁଂଦରୀଭି-
ର୍ମୁଗ୍ଧସ୍ମିତାର୍ଦ୍ରଵଦନଃ କରୁଣାଵଲୋକୀ ।
ନିସ୍ସୀମକାଂତିଜଲଧିସ୍ତ୍ଵମଵେକ୍ଷ୍ୟମାଣୋ
ଵିଶ୍ଵୈକହୃଦ୍ୟ ହର ମେ ପଵନେଶ ରୋଗାନ୍ ॥9॥
Meaning
ଅଭ୍ୟାଗତାଭିଃ- - by those who had come; ଅଭିତଃ - all around; ଵ୍ରଜସୁଂଦରୀଭିଃ- - (by) the beautiful women fo Vraja; ମୁଗ୍ଧ-ସ୍ମିତ-ଆର୍ଦ୍ର-ଵଦନଃ - (with) a captivating smile lit on the face; କରୁଣା-ଅଵଲୋକୀ - (Thou) glancing with compassion; ନିସ୍ସୀମ-କାଂତି- - unbound splendorous; ଜଲଧିଃ-ତ୍ଵମ୍- - ocean Thou; ଅଵେକ୍ଷ୍ୟମାଣଃ - were looked at (by the women); ଵିଶ୍ଵୈକହୃଦ୍ୟ - O Stealer of the world's heart!; ହର ମେ - rid me of my; ପଵନେଶ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; ରୋଗାନ୍ - ailments;
Translation
The beautiful women of Vraja, who had come and gathered all around Thee, were looking at Thee. Thou had a captivating smile lighting Thy face, glancing with compassion, and Thou who are like an unbound ocean of splendour, O Hari! The stealer of the world's heart! rid me, O Lord of Guruvaayur! of my ailments.
