ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଭଵଂତମୟମୁଦ୍ଵହନ୍ ୟଦୁକୁଲୋଦ୍ଵହୋ ନିସ୍ସରନ୍
ଦଦର୍ଶ ଗଗନୋଚ୍ଚଲଜ୍ଜଲଭରାଂ କଲିଂଦାତ୍ମଜାମ୍ ।
ଅହୋ ସଲିଲସଂଚୟଃ ସ ପୁନରୈଂଦ୍ରଜାଲୋଦିତୋ
ଜଲୌଘ ଇଵ ତତ୍କ୍ଷଣାତ୍ ପ୍ରପଦମେୟତାମାୟୟୌ ॥1॥

Meaning
ଭଵଂତମ୍-ଅୟମ୍-ଉଦ୍ଵହନ୍ - Thee he carrying; ୟଦୁକୁଲ-ଉଦ୍ଵହଃ - this leader of the Yadu clan; ନିସ୍ସରନ୍ ଦଦର୍ଶ - and setting out saw; ଗଗନ-ଉଚ୍ଚଲତ୍-ଜଲ-ଭରାମ୍ - reaching to the skies the water overflowing; କଲିଂଦ-ଆତ୍ମଜାମ୍ - Kalinda's daughter, Yamuna; ଅହୋ ସଲିଲ-ସଂଚୟଃ ସଃ - Lo! water collection that; ପୁନଃ-ଐଂଦ୍ରଜାଲ-ଉଦିତଃ - as though caused by Indrajaala, magic; ଜଲୌଘଃ- ଇଵ - a flood like; ତତ୍-କ୍ଷଣାତ୍ - in that very moment; ପ୍ରପଦ-ମେୟତାମ୍-ଆୟୟୌ - to the ankles measuring became;

Translation
When the leader of the Yadu clan Vasudeva set out carrying Thee, he saw the waters of the Yamuna river flooded to the skies. Lo! As he crossed, the waters were reduced to the ankles of his feet as if the huge expanse of water was an illusory flood caused by magic.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ପ୍ରସୁପ୍ତପଶୁପାଲିକାଂ ନିଭୃତମାରୁଦଦ୍ବାଲିକା-
ମପାଵୃତକଵାଟିକାଂ ପଶୁପଵାଟିକାମାଵିଶନ୍ ।
ଭଵଂତମୟମର୍ପୟନ୍ ପ୍ରସଵତଲ୍ପକେ ତତ୍ପଦା-
ଦ୍ଵହନ୍ କପଟକନ୍ୟକାଂ ସ୍ଵପୁରମାଗତୋ ଵେଗତଃ ॥2॥

Meaning
ପ୍ରସୁପ୍ତ-ପଶୁପାଲିକାଂ - fast asleep, (in which) the cowherd women were; ନିଭୃତମ୍-ଆରୁଦଦ୍-ବାଲିକାମ୍- - gently (where) was crying a girl child; ଅପାଵୃତ-କଵାଟିକାମ୍ - open were whose doors; ପଶୁପ-ଵାଟିକାମ୍-ଆଵିଶନ୍ - (that) cowherd's house entering; ଭଵଂତମ୍-ଅୟମ୍-ଅର୍ପୟନ୍ - Thee, he (that Vasudeva) placing; ପ୍ରସଵ-ତଲ୍ପକେ - on the labour cot; ତତ୍-ପଦାତ୍-ଵହନ୍ - (and) from that place taking; କପଟ-କନ୍ୟକାମ୍ - the seeming female infant; ସ୍ଵପୁରମ୍-ଆଗତଃ ଵେଗତଃ - came back to his city quickly;

Translation
Vasudeva entered the cowherd chieftain's house, whose doors were open and the cowherd women were all fast asleep, and a baby girl was crying. He gently placed Thee on the labour cot and took the seeming female infant (Yoga Maayaa) in his hands and quickly proceeded to his house, in Mathura.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତତସ୍ତ୍ଵଦନୁଜାରଵକ୍ଷପିତନିଦ୍ରଵେଗଦ୍ରଵଦ୍-
ଭଟୋତ୍କରନିଵେଦିତପ୍ରସଵଵାର୍ତୟୈଵାର୍ତିମାନ୍ ।
ଵିମୁକ୍ତଚିକୁରୋତ୍କରସ୍ତ୍ଵରିତମାପତନ୍ ଭୋଜରା-
ଡତୁଷ୍ଟ ଇଵ ଦୃଷ୍ଟଵାନ୍ ଭଗିନିକାକରେ କନ୍ୟକାମ୍ ॥3॥

Meaning
ତତଃ-ତ୍ଵତ୍-ଅନୁଜା-ରଵ- - then by Thy younger sister's the sound (of crying); କ୍ଷପିତ-ନିଦ୍ର-ଵେଗ-ଦ୍ରଵତ୍- - awakened and running fast; ଭଟ-ଉତ୍କର-ନିଵେଦିତ- - the host of attendants informed; ପ୍ରସଵ-ଵାର୍ତୟା- - (about) the delivery news; ଏଵ-ଆର୍ତିମାନ୍ - (by which) only agitated; ଵିମୁକ୍ତ-ଚିକୁର-ଉତ୍କରଃ- - (and with) dishevelled locks of hair; ତ୍ଵରିତମ୍-ଆପତନ୍ - hastily reaching; ଭୋଜ-ରାଜ-ଅତୁଷ୍ଟ - Bhojaraaja (Kansa) dissatisfied; ଇଵ ଦୃଷ୍ଟଵାନ୍ - as if saw; ଭଗିନିକା-କରେ କନ୍ୟକାମ୍ - in his sister's hands the baby girl;

Translation
Then awakened by the sound of crying of Thy younger sister, the host of attendants ran fast to inform Kansa of the child's birth. Stricken with fear, Kansa, with dishevelled hair, hastily reached the spot and was surprised and confused to see a baby girl in his sister's arms.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଧ୍ରୁଵଂ କପଟଶାଲିନୋ ମଧୁହରସ୍ୟ ମାୟା ଭଵେ-
ଦସାଵିତି କିଶୋରିକାଂ ଭଗିନିକାକରାଲିଂଗିତାମ୍ ।
ଦ୍ଵିପୋ ନଲିନିକାଂତରାଦିଵ ମୃଣାଲିକାମାକ୍ଷିପ-
ନ୍ନୟଂ ତ୍ଵଦନୁଜାମଜାମୁପଲପଟ୍ଟକେ ପିଷ୍ଟଵାନ୍ ॥4॥

Meaning
ଧ୍ରୁଵଂ କପଟଶାଲିନଃ - certainly of the deceitful; ମଧୁହରସ୍ୟ ମାୟା ଭଵେତ୍- - Vishnu's trick this must be; ଅସୌ-ଇତି କିଶୋରିକାମ୍ - this (girl) thus (deciding), the girl; ଭଗିନିକା-କର-ଆଲିଂଗିତାମ୍ - in his sister in her arms held close; ଦ୍ଵିପଃ ନଲିନି-କାଂତରାତ୍-ଇଵ - (like) an elephant from the lotus pond; ମୃଣାଲିକାମ୍-ଆକ୍ଷିପନ୍- - a tender lotus stalk plucking out; ଅୟଂ ତ୍ଵତ୍-ଅନୁଜାମ୍-ଅଜାମ୍- - this (Kansa), Thy younger sister , the birth less one; ଉପଲ-ପଟ୍ଟକେ ପିଷ୍ଟଵାନ୍ - on a block of stone dashed;

Translation
Kansa decided that certainly this was a trick of the deceitful Vishnu that this girl was born. He pulled the infant away from his sister who had held her close in her arms, just as an elephant would pluck out a tender lotus stalk from a pond of lotus, and dashed her, Thy younger sister, the birth less one, on a block of stone.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତତଃ ଭଵଦୁପାସକୋ ଝଟିତି ମୃତ୍ୟୁପାଶାଦିଵ
ପ୍ରମୁଚ୍ୟ ତରସୈଵ ସା ସମଧିରୂଢରୂପାଂତରା ।
ଅଧସ୍ତଲମଜଗ୍ମୁଷୀ ଵିକସଦଷ୍ଟବାହୁସ୍ଫୁର-
ନ୍ମହାୟୁଧମହୋ ଗତା କିଲ ଵିହାୟସା ଦିଦ୍ୟୁତେ ॥5॥

Meaning
ତତଃ ଭଵତ୍-ଉପାସକଃ - then (as) Thy devotee; ଝଟିତି ମୃତ୍ୟୁପାଶାତ୍-ଇଵ - quickly from the clutches of death, like that; ପ୍ରମୁଚ୍ୟ ତରସା-ଏଵ - slipping out (of Kansa's clutches) immediately; ସା ସମଧିରୂଢ-ରୂପାଂତରା - she (Yoga Maayaa) assumed another form; ଅଧଃ-ତଲମ୍-ଅଜଗ୍ମୁଷୀ - below the earth not going (rising above the earth); ଵିକସତ୍-ଅଷ୍ଟ-ବାହୁଃ- - (the form in which) she developed eight arms; ସ୍ଫୁରନ୍-ମହା-ଆୟୁଧମ୍- - shining with divine weapons; ଅହୋ ଗତା କିଲ - what a wonder went away indeed; ଵିହାୟସା ଦିଦ୍ୟୁତେ - in the sky shining;

Translation
Then, just as Thy devotee would quickly free himself from the clutches of death, she, Yoga Maayaa freed herself from the clutches of Kamsa immediately. Not hitting the earth, she rose above the earth in the sky and assumed another form with eight arms shining with divine weapons.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ନୃଶଂସତର କଂସ ତେ କିମୁ ମୟା ଵିନିଷ୍ପିଷ୍ଟୟା
ବଭୂଵ ଭଵଦଂତକଃ କ୍ଵଚନ ଚିଂତ୍ୟତାଂ ତେ ହିତମ୍ ।
ଇତି ତ୍ଵଦନୁଜା ଵିଭୋ ଖଲମୁଦୀର୍ୟ ତଂ ଜଗ୍ମୁଷୀ
ମରୁଦ୍ଗଣପଣାୟିତା ଭୁଵି ଚ ମଂଦିରାଣ୍ୟେୟୁଷୀ ॥6॥

Meaning
ନୃଶଂସତର କଂସ - O cruel Kansa!; ତେ କିମୁ - what is your (gain); ମୟା ଵିନିଷ୍ପିଷ୍ଟୟା - by my killing; ବଭୂଵ ଭଵତ୍-ଅଂତକଃ - has been (born) your destroyer; କ୍ଵଚନ - elsewhere; ଚିଂତ୍ୟତାଂ ତେ ହିତମ୍ - think of your welfare; ଇତି ତ୍ଵତ୍-ଅନୁଜା - thus Thy sister; ଵିଭୋ ଖଲମ୍-ଉଦୀର୍ୟ ତଂ - O Lord! to the wicked one saying; ଜଗ୍ମୁଷୀ ମରୁଦ୍ଗଣ-ପଣାୟିତା - went away (disappeared), being praised by the Devas; ଭୁଵି ଚ ମଂଦିରାଣି-ଏୟୁଷୀ - and on the earth, in the temples, entered;

Translation
"O cruel most Kansa! What is your gain by smashing me? Your destroyer has been born elsewhere. Think of your welfare." Thus saying to the wicked one, Thy sister disappeared. The Devas praised her also as she entered the temples on the earth and was worshipped.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ପ୍ରଗେ ପୁନରଗାତ୍ମଜାଵଚନମୀରିତା ଭୂଭୁଜା
ପ୍ରଲଂବବକପୂତନାପ୍ରମୁଖଦାନଵା ମାନିନଃ ।
ଭଵନ୍ନିଧନକାମ୍ୟୟା ଜଗତି ବଭ୍ରମୁର୍ନିର୍ଭୟାଃ
କୁମାରକଵିମାରକାଃ କିମିଵ ଦୁଷ୍କରଂ ନିଷ୍କୃପୈଃ ॥7॥

Meaning
ପ୍ରଗେ ପୁନଃ- - the next morning, again; ଅଗାତ୍ମଜା- - by the daughter of the mountain (Paarvati-Yoga Maayaa); ଵଚନମ୍-ଈରିତା - the words spoken (which were); ଭୂଭୁଜା - by the king (being told to); ପ୍ରଲଂବ-ବକ-ପୂତନା- - Pralamba, Baka, Pootanaa,; ପ୍ରମୁଖ-ଦାନଵାଃ - the main demons; ମାନିନଃ - haughty; ଭଵତ୍-ନିଧନ-କାମ୍ୟୟା - with the desire to kill Thee; ଜଗତି ବଭ୍ରମୁଃ-ନିର୍ଭୟାଃ - all over the land, roamed about fearlessly; କୁମାରକ-ଵିମାରକାଃ - killing children; କିମିଵ ଦୁଷ୍କରଂ ନିଷ୍କୃପୈଃ - what is not possible by the merciless people;

Translation
Thereafter, the next morning, the king told the main haughty demons, Pralamba, Baka and Pootana, what the daughter of the mountain, Paarvati-Yoga Maayaa had said. They then roamed all over the land fearlessly killing the children. Merciless people are capable of doing merciless deeds.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତତଃ ପଶୁପମଂଦିରେ ତ୍ଵୟି ମୁକୁଂଦ ନଂଦପ୍ରିୟା-
ପ୍ରସୂତିଶୟନେଶୟେ ରୁଦତି କିଂଚିଦଂଚତ୍ପଦେ ।
ଵିବୁଧ୍ୟ ଵନିତାଜନୈସ୍ତନୟସଂଭଵେ ଘୋଷିତେ
ମୁଦା କିମୁ ଵଦାମ୍ୟହୋ ସକଲମାକୁଲଂ ଗୋକୁଲମ୍ ॥8॥

Meaning
ତତଃ ପଶୁପ-ମଂଦିରେ - then in the cowherd's (Nanda's) house; ତ୍ଵୟି ମୁକୁଂଦ - (when) Thou were O Lord! (Bestower of Liberation); ନଂଦ ପ୍ରିୟା-ପ୍ରସୂତି-ଶୟନେ- - on wife of Nanda (Yashoda's) labour-bed; ଶୟେ ରୁଦତି - lying and crying; କିଂଚିତ୍-ଅଂଚତ୍-ପଦେ - and slightly kicking the legs; ଵିବୁଧ୍ୟ ଵନିତା-ଜନୈଃ- - waking up, by the women folk; ତନୟ-ସଂଭଵେ ଘୋଷିତେ - the birth of a boy was announced; ମୁଦା କିମୁ ଵଦାମି-ଅହୋ - overjoyed, O What can I say; ସକଲମ୍-ଆକୁଲଂ ଗୋକୁଲଂ - all brimming (with joy), Gokula was;

Translation
Then, Bestower of Liberation! O Lord! Lying on the labour bed of Yashoda, the cowherd chieftain's wife, Thou raised infant cries as Thou slightly kicked Thy legs. All the women folk were aroused from sleep, and they announced the birth of a boy. O! How can I describe the joy with which the whole of Gokula was brimming.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଅହୋ ଖଲୁ ୟଶୋଦୟା ନଵକଲାୟଚେତୋହରଂ
ଭଵଂତମଲମଂତିକେ ପ୍ରଥମମାପିବଂତ୍ୟା ଦୃଶା ।
ପୁନଃ ସ୍ତନଭରଂ ନିଜଂ ସପଦି ପାୟୟଂତ୍ୟା ମୁଦା
ମନୋହରତନୁସ୍ପୃଶା ଜଗତି ପୁଣ୍ୟଵଂତୋ ଜିତାଃ ॥9॥

Meaning
ଅହୋ ଖଲୁ ୟଶୋଦୟା - what a wonder indeed, by Yashoda; ନଵ-କଲାୟ-ଚେତୋହରଂ - like a fresh Kalaya flower enchanting the mind; ଭଵଂତମ୍-ଅଲମ୍-ଅଂତିକେ - Thee, very near to herself; ପ୍ରଥମମ୍-ଆପିବଂତ୍ୟା - at first drinking thoroughly; ଦୃଶା ପୁନଃ - with the eyes, then; ସ୍ତନଭରଂ ନିଜଂ ସପଦି - her own breasts immediately; ପାୟୟଂତ୍ୟା ମୁଦା - feeding joyfully; ମନୋହର-ତନୁ-ସ୍ପୃଶା - (Thy) charming body caressing; ଜଗତି ପୁଣ୍ୟଵଂତଃ - in the world, the most meritorious ones; ଜିତାଃ - were surpassed;

Translation
What a wonder indeed that the most meritorious and holy persons were surpassed by Yashoda by her good fortune as she imbibed with her eyes Thy beautiful form fresh as a Kalaya flower lying by her side. Then she joyfully applied Thee to her breasts feeding Thee, as she also caressed Thy charming body again and again.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଭଵତ୍କୁଶଲକାମ୍ୟୟା ସ ଖଲୁ ନଂଦଗୋପସ୍ତଦା
ପ୍ରମୋଦଭରସଂକୁଲୋ ଦ୍ଵିଜକୁଲାୟ କିନ୍ନାଦଦାତ୍ ।
ତଥୈଵ ପଶୁପାଲକାଃ କିମୁ ନ ମଂଗଲଂ ତେନିରେ
ଜଗତ୍ତ୍ରିତୟମଂଗଲ ତ୍ଵମିହ ପାହି ମାମାମୟାତ୍ ॥10॥

Meaning
ଭଵତ୍-କୁଶଲ-କାମ୍ୟୟା - Thy wellbeing desiring; ସ ଖଲୁ ନଂଦଗୋପଃ-ତଦା - that, Nanadagopa indeed, then; ପ୍ରମୋଦ-ଭର-ସଂକୁଲଃ - with extreme joy overwhelmed; ଦ୍ଵିଜ-କୁଲାୟ - to the Braahmin clan (holy men); କିମ୍-ନ-ଅଦଦାତ୍ - what did not give; ତଥା-ଏଵ ପଶୁ-ପାଲକାଃ - in the same way the cowherds; କିମୁ ନ ମଂଗଲଂ ତେନିରେ - what auspicious act did not perform; ଜଗତ୍-ତ୍ରିତୟ-ମଂଗଲ ତ୍ଵମ୍- - O Lord! The beneficiary of the world! Thou; ଇହ ପାହି ମାମ୍-ଆମୟାତ୍ - here save me from ailments;

Translation
Nandagopa, overwhelmed with joy,and out of the desire for Thy wellbeing gave away limitless gifts to holy men of the Braahmin clan. In the same manner innumerable auspicious rites and observances were performed by the gopas for Thy sake. Thou the harbinger of auspiciousness of the three worlds, deign to save me from my ailments.
