ତ୍ଵୟି ଵିହରଣଲୋଲେ ବାଲଜାଲୈଃ ପ୍ରଲଂବ-
ପ୍ରମଥନସଵିଲଂବେ ଧେନଵଃ ସ୍ଵୈରଚାରାଃ ।
ତୃଣକୁତୁକନିଵିଷ୍ଟା ଦୂରଦୂରଂ ଚରଂତ୍ୟଃ
କିମପି ଵିପିନମୈଷୀକାଖ୍ୟମୀଷାଂବଭୂଵୁଃ ॥1॥
Meaning
ତ୍ଵୟି ଵିହରଣ-ଲୋଲେ - (when) Thou (were) engaged in playing; ବାଲ-ଜାଲୈଃ - with the boys' group; ପ୍ରଲଂବ-ପ୍ରମଥନ- - in the Pralambaasura killing; ସଵିଲଂବେ - (and) were delayed; ଧେନଵଃ ସ୍ଵୈର-ଚାରାଃ - the cows of their own will; ତୃଣ-କୁତୁକ-ନିଵିଷ୍ଟା - eager to eat grass; ଦୂର-ଦୂରଂ ଚରଂତ୍ୟଃ - far and far moving; କିମପି ଵିପିନମ୍- - (to) some forest; ଐଷୀକ-ଆଖ୍ୟମ୍- - Aishika (also a grass) named; ଈଷାଂ ବଭୂଵୁଃ - came near;
Translation
As Thou were engaged in playing with the group of boys and were held up in the destruction of Pralambaasura, the cows moved far ahead in their eagerness to eat grass. They reached a nearby forest named Aishika.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଅନଧିଗତନିଦାଘକ୍ରୌର୍ୟଵୃଂଦାଵନାଂତାତ୍
ବହିରିଦମୁପୟାତାଃ କାନନଂ ଧେନଵସ୍ତାଃ ।
ତଵ ଵିରହଵିଷଣ୍ଣା ଊଷ୍ମଲଗ୍ରୀଷ୍ମତାପ-
ପ୍ରସରଵିସରଦଂଭସ୍ୟାକୁଲାଃ ସ୍ତଂଭମାପୁଃ ॥2॥
Meaning
ଅନଧିଗତ - (which was) not felt; ନିଦାଘ-କ୍ରୌର୍ୟଂ- - the summer heat cruel (intensity); ଵୃଂଦାଵନ-ଅଂତାତ୍ - at Vrindaavana's outer end; ବହିଃ-ଇଦମ୍-ଉପୟାତାଃ - outside this (who had) reached; କାନନଂ ଧେନଵଃ-ତାଃ - the forest, those cows; ତଵ ଵିରହ-ଵିଷଣ୍ଣା - (by) Thy separation tormented; ଊଷ୍ମଲ-ଗ୍ରୀଷ୍ମ-ତାପ- - (and) the intensely hot the summer heat; ପ୍ରସର-ଵିସରତ୍- - increasing and spreading; ଅଂଭସ୍ୟ-ଆକୁଲାଃ - for want of water suffering; ସ୍ତଂଭମ୍-ଆପୁଃ - motionless became;
Translation
The cruel summer heat was not felt in the Vrindaavana forest. But when the cows reached the outskirts of the forest, they were tormented by the intensely hot summer heat which was increasing and spreading. Exhausted by the heat and for the want of water and also out of grief at the separation from Thee, they stood stunned and motionless.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତଦନୁ ସହ ସହାୟୈର୍ଦୂରମନ୍ଵିଷ୍ୟ ଶୌରେ
ଗଲିତସରଣିମୁଂଜାରଣ୍ୟସଂଜାତଖେଦମ୍ ।
ପଶୁକୁଲମଭିଵୀକ୍ଷ୍ୟ କ୍ଷିପ୍ରମାନେତୁମାରା-
ତ୍ତ୍ଵୟି ଗତଵତି ହୀ ହୀ ସର୍ଵତୋଽଗ୍ନିର୍ଜଜୃଂଭେ ॥3॥
Meaning
ତଦନୁ ସହ ସହାୟୈଃ- - then with Thy helpers; ଦୂରମ୍-ଅନ୍ଵିଷ୍ୟ - till far searching; ଶୌରେ - O Krishna; ଗଲିତ-ସରଣି- - loosing the way; ମୁଂଜ-ଅରଣ୍ୟ- - (reaching) the Munja forest; ସଞାତ-ଖେଦମ୍ - overcome by exhaustion; ପଶୁକୁଲମ୍-ଅଭିଵୀକ୍ଷ୍ୟ - the cattle seeing; କ୍ଷିପ୍ରମ୍-ଆନେତୁମ୍- - quickly to bring; ଆରାତ୍-ତ୍ଵୟି ଗତଵତି - near (when) Thou went; ହୀ ହୀ ସର୍ଵତଃ- - alas, alas, all around; ଅଗ୍ନି;-ଜଜୃଂଭେ - a fire broke out;
Translation
O Krishna! Along with Thy mates, Thou ventured far in search of the cattle and having lost the way, Thou reached the Munja forest. There Thou discovered the cows standing in distress and as Thou were nearing them to bring them back, alas a wild fire broke out and spread.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ସକଲହରିତି ଦୀପ୍ତେ ଘୋରଭାଂକାରଭୀମେ
ଶିଖିନି ଵିହତମାର୍ଗା ଅର୍ଧଦଗ୍ଧା ଇଵାର୍ତାଃ ।
ଅହହ ଭୁଵନବଂଧୋ ପାହି ପାହୀତି ସର୍ଵେ
ଶରଣମୁପଗତାସ୍ତ୍ଵାଂ ତାପହର୍ତାରମେକମ୍ ॥4॥
Meaning
ସକଲ-ହରିତି ଦୀପ୍ତେ - (when) all the directions were blazing; ଘୋର-ଭାଂକାର-ଭୀମେ - (with) terrific roars frightening; ଶିଖିନି - the fire; ଵିହତ-ମାର୍ଗା - obstructed the ways; ଅର୍ଧ-ଦଗ୍ଧାଃ - half burnt; ଇଵ-ଆର୍ତାଃ - like tormented; ଅହହ ଭୁଵନବଂଧୋ - O Friend of all!; ପାହି ପାହି-ଇତି - save, save us, thus; ସର୍ଵେ ଶରଣମ୍-ଉପଗତାଃ- - all of them took refuge; ତ୍ଵାଂ ତାପ-ହର୍ତାରମ୍-ଏକମ୍ - in Thee, from all sorrows the saviour, the Only One;
Translation
All the directions were blazing with the outrageous fire and its terrific frightening roars. All the escape routes were obstructed and all the boys and cows were so tormented as if they were half burnt. They all took refuge in Thee who are a friend of all and called Thee saying, ' O The Only One saviour from all sorrows , save us, save us.'
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଅଲମଲମତିଭୀତ୍ୟା ସର୍ଵତୋ ମୀଲୟଧ୍ଵଂ
ଦୃଶମିତି ତଵ ଵାଚା ମୀଲିତାକ୍ଷେଷୁ ତେଷୁ ।
କ୍ଵ ନୁ ଦଵଦହନୋଽସୌ କୁତ୍ର ମୁଂଜାଟଵୀ ସା
ସପଦି ଵଵୃତିରେ ତେ ହଂତ ଭାଂଡୀରଦେଶେ ॥5॥
Meaning
ଅଲମ୍-ଅଲମ୍- - enough enough; ଅତି-ଭୀତ୍ୟା - of so much fright; ସର୍ଵତଃ ମୀଲୟଧ୍ଵଂ - all of you close; ଦୃଶମ୍-ଇତି - the eyes, thus; ତଵ ଵାଚା - by Thy words; ମୀଲିତ-ଅକ୍ଷେଷୁ - (when they) had closed the eyes; ତେଷୁ କ୍ଵ ନୁ - when they, where indeed (was); ଦଵ-ଦହନଃ-ଅସୌ - forest fire that; କୁତ୍ର ମୁଂଜା-ଅଟଵୀ ସା - where (was) Munja forest that; ସପଦି ଵଵୃତିରେ ତେ - at once found themselves they; ହଂତ ଭାଂଡୀର-ଦେଶେ - how wonderful, in Bhaandeera land;
Translation
Enough, enough of so much fright. Let all completely close their eyes.' Thus on Thy instruction when they had all closed their eyes, where indeed was the forest fire and where was the Munja forest? They instantly found themselves in the Bhaandeera area inside Vrindaavana. How wonderful!
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଜୟ ଜୟ ତଵ ମାୟା କେୟମୀଶେତି ତେଷାଂ
ନୁତିଭିରୁଦିତହାସୋ ବଦ୍ଧନାନାଵିଲାସଃ ।
ପୁନରପି ଵିପିନାଂତେ ପ୍ରାଚରଃ ପାଟଲାଦି-
ପ୍ରସଵନିକରମାତ୍ରଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟଘର୍ମାନୁଭାଵେ ॥6॥
Meaning
ଜୟ ଜୟ - hail hail; ତଵ ମାୟା - Thy mysterious ways; କା-ଇୟମ୍ - what is it; ଈଶ- - O Lord; ଇତି ତେଷାଂ - thus by them (the cowherds); ନୁତିଭିଃ-ଉଦିତହାସଃ - being praised, smilingly; ବଦ୍ଧ-ନାନା-ଵିଲାସଃ - in various ways sporting; ପୁନଃ-ଅପି - again also; ଵିପିନ-ଅଂତେ - in the forest's end; ପ୍ରାଚରଃ ପାଟଲାଦି- - Thou roamed about, (where) the Paatala etc; ପ୍ରସଵ-ନିକର- - (flowers) blooming in bunches; ମାତ୍ର-ଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ- - (were the) only indication; ଘର୍ମ-ଅନୁଭାଵେ - summer season's presence;
Translation
Hail, hail, Thy mysterious ways, unfathomable, O Lord!' Thus Thou were smilingly praised by them. Thou continued to roam about and sport in various ways, where the Paatala flowers blooming in bunches, were the only indication of the presence of the summer season.
ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତ୍ଵୟି ଵିମୁଖମିଵୋଚ୍ଚୈସ୍ତାପଭାରଂ ଵହଂତଂ
ତଵ ଭଜନଵଦଂତଃ ପଂକମୁଚ୍ଛୋଷୟଂତମ୍ ।
ତଵ ଭୁଜଵଦୁଦଂଚଦ୍ଭୂରିତେଜଃପ୍ରଵାହଂ
ତପସମୟମନୈଷୀର୍ୟାମୁନେଷୁ ସ୍ଥଲେଷୁ ॥7॥
Meaning
ତ୍ଵୟି ଵିମୁଖମ୍- - (when) unto Thee, (one is) indifferent; ଇଵ-ଉଚ୍ଚୈଃ- - like that, very intense; ତାପଭାରଂ ଵହଂତମ୍ - the weight of heat, carrying; ତଵ ଭଜନ-ଵଦଂତଃ - Thy praises speaking (worshipping); ପଂକମ୍- - the mud/slush; ଉଚ୍ଛୋଷୟଂତମ୍ - drying up; ତଵ ଭୁଜ-ଵତ୍- - Thy two arms like; ଉଦଂଚତ୍- - emitting; ଭୂରି-ତେଜ-ପ୍ରଵାହଂ - a great brilliance flow; ତପ-ସମୟମ୍- - the summer time; ଅନୈଷୀଃ - Thou spend; ୟାମୁନେଷୁ ସ୍ଥଲେଷୁ - on the Yamunaa banks;
Translation
The intense heat of the summer time was like the weight of the heat of passion that people carry in their minds who are indifferent to Thee. It was like the heat which is created by worshipping Thee, which dries up all the mud and slush of Thy devotees. It was like the brilliance flowing from Thy two arms. Such a summer time Thou spent on the banks of the river Yamunaa.

ର୍ଵିକସଦମଲଵିଦ୍ୟୁତ୍ପୀତଵାସୋଵିଲାସୈଃ ।

Meaning
ତଦନୁ ଜଲଦ-ଜାଲୈଃ- - then with the cloud clusters; ତ୍ଵତ୍-ଵପୁଃ- - Thy body; ତୁଲ୍ୟ-ଭାଭିଃ- - like splendorous; ଵିକସତ୍-ଅମଲ- - shining pure; ଵିଦ୍ୟୁତ୍-ପୀତଵାସଃ- - lightening (like Thy) yellow garment; ଵିଲାସୈଃ - beautifully; ସକଲ-ଭୁଵନ-ଭାଜାଂ - (to) all the world's inhabitants; ହର୍ଷଦାଂ ଵର୍ଷଵେଲାଂ - joy giving, the rainy season; କ୍ଷିତିଧର-କୁହରେଷୁ - (in) the mountain caves; ସ୍ଵୈରଵାସୀ ଵ୍ୟନୈଷୀଃ - at will residing Thou spend;
Translation
Then, the clusters of clouds in the rainy season were like the hue of Thy splendorous body, the lightening shining was like the luster of Thy beautiful yellow garment. It gave joy to all the inhabitants of the world. Such a rainy season Thou spent, sporting at will, in the caves of the mountain (Govardhana).

କୁହରତଲନିଵିଷ୍ଟଂ ତ୍ଵାଂ ଗରିଷ୍ଠଂ ଗିରୀଂଦ୍ରଃ
ଶିଖିକୁଲନଵକେକାକାକୁଭିଃ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରକାରୀ ।
ସ୍ଫୁଟକୁଟଜକଦଂବସ୍ତୋମପୁଷ୍ପାଂଜଲିଂ ଚ
ପ୍ରଵିଦଧଦନୁଭେଜେ ଦେଵ ଗୋଵର୍ଧନୋଽସୌ ॥9॥
Meaning
କୁହରତଲ-ନିଵିଷ୍ଟଂ - in the caves residing; ତ୍ଵାଂ ଗରିଷ୍ଠଂ - to Thee, the highly honoured; ଗିରୀଂଦ୍ରଃ - the mountain; ଶିଖି-କୁଲ- - the peacocks'; ନଵ-କେକା- - pleasant cooings; କାକୁଭିଃ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରକାରୀ - as hymns praising; ସ୍ଫୁଟ-କୁଟଜ-କଦଂବ- - blooming Kutaja and Kadamba; ସ୍ତୋମ-ପୁଷ୍ପାଂଜଲିଂ ଚ - heaps and as flower offerings; ପ୍ରଵିଦଧତ୍-ଅନୁଭେଜେ - performing worship; ଦେଵ - O Lord! (To Thee); ଗୋଵର୍ଧନଃ-ଅସୌ - Govardhana this, (the mountain);
Translation
O Lord! To Thee, the highly honoured One, living in its caves, the mountain king (Govardhana) extended its hospitality. It sang hymns of Thy praise in the form of the pleasant cooings of the peacocks. It worshipped Thee in the form of offering heaps of fully bloomed Kutaja and Kadamba flowers falling from the branches at Thy feet.

ଅଥ ଶରଦମୁପେତାଂ ତାଂ ଭଵଦ୍ଭକ୍ତଚେତୋ-
ଵିମଲସଲିଲପୂରାଂ ମାନୟନ୍ କାନନେଷୁ ।
ତୃଣମମଲଵନାଂତେ ଚାରୁ ସଂଚାରୟନ୍ ଗାଃ
ପଵନପୁରପତେ ତ୍ଵଂ ଦେହି ମେ ଦେହସୌଖ୍ୟମ୍ ॥10॥
Meaning
ଅଥ ଶରଦମ୍-ଉପେତାଂ - then spring season approaching; ତାଂ ଭଵତ୍-ଭକ୍ତ-ଚେତଃ- - that (season) (like) Thy devotees' mind; ଵିମଲ-ସଲିଲ-ପୂରାଂ - with pure water full; ମାନୟନ୍ କାନନେଷୁ - enjoying in the forests; ତୃଣମ୍-ଅମଲ-ଵନାଂତେ - grass in the pleasant forest; ଚାରୁ ସଂଚାରୟନ୍ ଗାଃ - happily grazing the cows; ପଵନପୁରପତେ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; ତ୍ଵଂ ଦେହି - Thou bestow; ମେ ଦେହ-ସୌଖ୍ୟମ୍ - unto me good health;
Translation
Then the spring season approached. In that season the streams were full of pure water, like the pure minds of Thy devotees. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Thou spent such a season enjoying in the forests and happily grazing grass to the cattle in the pleasant forests. O Thou! bestow unto me good health.
