ନାରାୟଣୀୟଂ ଦଶକ 57

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ରାମସଖଃ କ୍ଵାପି ଦିନେ କାମଦ ଭଗଵନ୍ ଗତୋ ଭଵାନ୍ ଵିପିନମ୍ ।
ସୂନୁଭିରପି ଗୋପାନାଂ ଧେନୁଭିରଭିସଂଵୃତୋ ଲସଦ୍ଵେଷଃ ॥1॥

Meaning
ରାମସଖଃ - in Balaraama's company; କ୍ଵାପି ଦିନେ - one day; କାମଦ ଭଗଵନ୍ - Thou the fulfiller of wishes, O Lord!; ଗତଃ ଭଵାନ୍ - went Thee; ଵିପିନମ୍ - to the forest; ସୂନୁଭିଃ-ଅପି - with the sons,also; ଗୋପାନାମ୍ - of the Gopas; ଧେନୁଭିଃ-ଅଭିସଂଵୃତଃ - (and) by the cows surrounded; ଲସତ୍-ଵେଷଃ - in a bedecked attire;

Translation
O Lord! Thou the fulfiller of wishes, one day in a bedecked attire, with Balaraama, went to the forest. The sons of the Gopas and the cows also surrounded and followed Thee.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ସଂଦର୍ଶୟନ୍ ବଲାୟ ସ୍ଵୈରଂ ଵୃଂଦାଵନଶ୍ରିୟଂ ଵିମଲାମ୍ ।
କାଂଡୀରୈଃ ସହ ବାଲୈର୍ଭାଂଡୀରକମାଗମୋ ଵଟଂ କ୍ରୀଡନ୍ ॥2॥

Meaning
ସଂଦର୍ଶୟନ୍ - showing around; ବଲାୟ ସ୍ଵୈରଂ - to Balaraama joyfully; ଵୃଂଦାଵନ-ଶ୍ରିୟଂ - the beauty of Vrindaavana; ଵିମଲାମ୍ - (which was so) pure; କାଂଡୀରୈଃ ସହ - with sticks (carrying); ବାଲୈଃ- - (with) the children (Thou reached); ଭାଂଡୀରକମ୍- - (the tree named) Bhaandeeraka; ଆଗମଃ - reached; ଵଟଂ କ୍ରୀଡନ୍ - the tree, playing;

Translation
Joyfully showing around the unspoilt pure beauty of Vrindaavana to Balaraama, accompanied by the cowherd boys, carrying a staff in a playful mood, Thou reached the banyan tree called Bhaandeeraka.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତାଵତ୍ତାଵକନିଧନସ୍ପୃହୟାଲୁର୍ଗୋପମୂର୍ତିରଦୟାଲୁଃ ।
ଦୈତ୍ୟଃ ପ୍ରଲଂବନାମା ପ୍ରଲଂବବାହୁଂ ଭଵଂତମାପେଦେ ॥3॥

Meaning
ତାଵତ୍- - then; ତାଵକ-ନିଧନ- - Thy death; ସ୍ପୃହୟାଲୁଃ-ଗୋପମୂର୍ତିଃ - desiring, in the disguise of a Gopa; ଅଦୟାଲୁଃ ଦୈତ୍ୟଃ - a pitiless demon; ପ୍ରଲଂବ-ନାମା - Pralamba named; ପ୍ରଲଂବ-ବାହୁଂ ଭଵଂତମ୍- - the long armed Thee; ଆପେଦେ - approached;

Translation
Then, the pitiless demon, approached Thee in the disguise of a Gopa, desiring to kill Thee, who are with long arms.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଜାନନ୍ନପ୍ୟଵିଜାନନ୍ନିଵ ତେନ ସମଂ ନିବଦ୍ଧସୌହାର୍ଦଃ ।
ଵଟନିକଟେ ପଟୁପଶୁପଵ୍ୟାବଦ୍ଧଂ ଦ୍ଵଂଦ୍ଵୟୁଦ୍ଧମାରବ୍ଧାଃ ॥4॥

Meaning
ଜାନନ୍-ଅପି - knowing though; ଅଵିଜାନନ୍-ଇଵ - not knowing as though; ତେନ ସମଂ - with him; ନିବଦ୍ଧ-ସୌହାର୍ଦଃ - cultivating friendship; ଵଟ-ନିକଟେ - near the banyan tree; ପଟୁ-ପଶୁପ- - by skilled cowherd boys; ଵ୍ୟାବଦ୍ଧଂ - formed; ଦ୍ଵଂଦ୍ଵ-ୟୁଦ୍ଧମ୍- - wrestling; ଆରବ୍ଧାଃ - started (Thee);

Translation
In spite of knowing fully well of his intention, seemingly unaware of his designs, Thou cultivated friendship with him. Then near the banyan tree, arranging the game of wrestling with the cowherd boys who were skilled in that art, Thou started a duel.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଗୋପାନ୍ ଵିଭଜ୍ୟ ତନ୍ଵନ୍ ସଂଘଂ ବଲଭଦ୍ରକଂ ଭଵତ୍କମପି ।
ତ୍ଵଦ୍ବଲଭୀରୁଂ ଦୈତ୍ୟଂ ତ୍ଵଦ୍ବଲଗତମନ୍ଵମନ୍ୟଥା ଭଗଵନ୍ ॥5॥

Meaning
ଗୋପାନ୍ ଵିଭଜ୍ୟ - the cowherd boys dividing; ତନ୍ଵନ୍ ସଂଘଂ - into two teams; ବଲଭଦ୍ରକଂ - of Balaraama; ଭଵତ୍କମ୍-ଅପି - and of Thee also; ତ୍ଵତ୍-ବଲ-ଭୀରୁଂ - Thy strength afraid of; ଦୈତ୍ୟଂ - the demon; ତ୍ଵଦ୍-ବଲ-ଗତମ୍- - in Thy team joining; ଅନ୍ଵମନ୍ୟଥା - (Thou) agreed; ଭଗଵନ୍ - O Lord!;

Translation
O Lord! Thou divided the cowherd boys into two teams led by Balaraama and Thyself. The Asura was aware of Thy strength and being afraid wanted to join Thy team, to which Thou agreed.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
କଲ୍ପିତଵିଜେତୃଵହନେ ସମରେ ପରୟୂଥଗଂ ସ୍ଵଦୟିତତରମ୍ ।
ଶ୍ରୀଦାମାନମଧତ୍ଥାଃ ପରାଜିତୋ ଭକ୍ତଦାସତାଂ ପ୍ରଥୟନ୍ ॥6॥

Meaning
କଲ୍ପିତ- - as per rules (arranged); ଵିଜେତୃ-ଵହନେ - the victorious be carried; ସମରେ ପରୟୂଥଗଂ - in the fight, by one of the other team; ସ୍ଵଦୟିତତରମ୍ - very dear to Thee; ଶ୍ରୀଦାମାନମ୍- - Shridaamaa; ଅଧତ୍ଥାଃ ପରାଜିତଃ - Thou carried, (Thou) being defeated; ଭକ୍ତ-ଦାସତାଂ - (Thou) as a servant of Thy devotees; ପ୍ରଥୟନ୍ - establishing /demonstrating;

Translation
As per the rules of the game, as was arranged, the victor is to be carried by the vanquished. Thou being defeated, Thou carried the very dear friend Shreedaamaa, there by demonstrating to the world that Thou are at the service of Thy devotees.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଏଵଂ ବହୁଷୁ ଵିଭୂମନ୍ ବାଲେଷୁ ଵହତ୍ସୁ ଵାହ୍ୟମାନେଷୁ ।
ରାମଵିଜିତଃ ପ୍ରଲଂବୋ ଜହାର ତଂ ଦୂରତୋ ଭଵଦ୍ଭୀତ୍ୟା ॥7॥

Meaning
ଏଵଂ ବହୁଷୁ - thus in many; ଵିଭୂମନ୍ - O Infinite One!; ବାଲେଷୁ ଵହତ୍ସୁ - when the children were carrying; ଵାହ୍ୟମାନେଷୁ - and were being carried; ରାମ-ଵିଜିତଃ - by Balaraama defeated; ପ୍ରଲଂବଃ ଜହାର ତଂ - Pralamba (the demon), took him; ଦୂରତଃ ଭଵତ୍-ଭୀତ୍ୟା - far away for Thy fear;

Translation
Thus the many cowherd boys were carrying and were being carried. In the course, Pralamba was defeated by Balaraama and so he carried Balaraama far away from Thy sight out of fear of Thee.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ତ୍ଵଦ୍ଦୂରଂ ଗମୟଂତଂ ତଂ ଦୃଷ୍ଟ୍ଵା ହଲିନି ଵିହିତଗରିମଭରେ ।
ଦୈତ୍ୟଃ ସ୍ଵରୂପମାଗାଦ୍ୟଦ୍ରୂପାତ୍ ସ ହି ବଲୋଽପି ଚକିତୋଽଭୂତ୍ ॥8॥

Meaning
ତ୍ଵତ୍-ଦୂରଂ ଗମୟଂତମ୍ - from Thee far going; ତଂ ଦୃଷ୍ଟ୍ଵା ହଲିନି - seeing him when Balaraama; ଵିହିତ-ଗରିମ-ଭରେ - took on increased weight; ଦୈତ୍ୟଃ ସ୍ଵରୂପମ୍- - the demon to his own form; ଆଗାତ୍-ୟତ୍-ରୂପାତ୍ - went to by which form; ସ ହି ବଲଃ-ଅପି - he indeed Balaraama also; ଚକିତଃ-ଅଭୂତ୍ - wonderstruck became;

Translation
Balaraama saw that he was being carried far away, so he increased his weight by his divine power. The demon then took to his own real form, seeing which even Balaraam was wonderstruck.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଉଚ୍ଚତୟା ଦୈତ୍ୟତନୋସ୍ତ୍ଵନ୍ମୁଖମାଲୋକ୍ୟ ଦୂରତୋ ରାମଃ ।
ଵିଗତଭୟୋ ଦୃଢମୁଷ୍ଟ୍ୟା ଭୃଶଦୁଷ୍ଟଂ ସପଦି ପିଷ୍ଟଵାନେନମ୍ ॥9॥

Meaning
ଉଚ୍ଚତୟା ଦୈତ୍ୟ-ତନୋଃ- - because of the height of the Asura's body; ତ୍ଵତ୍-ମୁଖମ୍- - Thy face; ଆଲୋକ୍ୟ - seeing; ଦୂରତଃ ରାମଃ - from a distance, Balaraam; ଵିଗତ-ଭୟଃ - overcoming the fear; ଦୃଢ-ମୁଷ୍ଟ୍ୟା - by a fierce fist; ଭୃଶ-ଦୁଷ୍ଟଂ ସପଦି - the extremely wicked (him), quickly; ପିଷ୍ଟ୍ଵାନ୍ ଏନମ୍ - crushed him;

Translation
The Asura's height was great and so being carried on his shoulder, Balaraam could see Thee from a distance. At Thy sight Balaraam shunned all fear and with a firm fist struck the demon and quickly crushed him to a pulp.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ହତ୍ଵା ଦାନଵଵୀରଂ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତଂ ବଲମାଲିଲିଂଗିଥ ପ୍ରେମ୍ଣା ।
ତାଵନ୍ମିଲତୋର୍ୟୁଵୟୋଃ ଶିରସି କୃତା ପୁଷ୍ପଵୃଷ୍ଟିରମରଗଣୈଃ ॥10॥

Meaning
ହତ୍ଵା ଦାନଵ-ଵୀରଂ - killing the clever Asura; ପ୍ରାପ୍ତଂ ବଲମ୍- - returned Balaraam; ଆଲିଲିଂଗିଥ - (Thou) embraced; ପ୍ରେମ୍ଣା ତାଵତ- - lovingly, at that time; ମିଲତୋଃ-ୟୁଵୟୋଃ - when Thou two were meeting; ଶିରସି କୃତା - on Thy heads was done; ପୁଷ୍ପଵୃଷ୍ଟିଃ- - flower showering; ଅମର-ଗଣୈଃ - by the gods/ devas;

Translation
Balaraama returned after killing the clever Asura and Thou embraced him lovingly. As Thou two were meeting the gods and devas showered flowers on Thy heads.

ଶ୍ଲୋକଃ
ଆଲଂବୋ ଭୁଵନାନାଂ ପ୍ରାଲଂବଂ ନିଧନମେଵମାରଚୟନ୍ ।
କାଲଂ ଵିହାୟ ସଦ୍ୟୋ ଲୋଲଂବରୁଚେ ହରେ ହରେଃ କ୍ଲେଶାନ୍ ॥11॥

Meaning
ଆଲଂବଃ ଭୁଵନାନାଂ - the support of the worlds; ପ୍ରାଲଂବଂ ନିଧନମ୍- - Pralambaasura's killing; ଏଵମ୍-ଆରଚୟନ୍ - carrying out; କାଲଂ ଵିହାୟ - without delay; ସଦ୍ୟଃ - quickly; ଲୋଲଂବରୁଚେ - a black bee like splendorous; ହରେ - O Hari; ହରେଃ - eradicate; କ୍ଲେଶାନ୍ - my sufferings;

Translation
O Hari! Thou who has the splendour of a black bee, who are the support of the worlds, Thou who carried out the destruction of Pralambaasura, without delay, quickly eradicate my sufferings.
