ශ්ලෝකඃ
ආලෝක්ය ශෛලෝද්ධරණාදිරූපං ප්රභාවමුච්චෛස්තව ගෝපලෝකාඃ ।
විශ්වේශ්වරං ත්වාමභිමත්ය විශ්වේ නංදං භවජ්ජාතකමන්වපෘච්ඡන් ॥1॥
Meaning
ආලෝක්ය - seeing; ශෛල-උද්ධරණ- - the lifting of the mountain; ආදි-රූපං - and other feats (of Thee); ප්රභාවම්-උච්චෛඃ- - the great powers; තව - of Thee; ගෝප-ලෝකාඃ - the cowherds,; විශ්වේශ්වරං - the Lord of the Universe; ත්වාම්-අභිමත්ය - Thee considering; විශ්වේ නංදං - all of them to Nanda; භවත්-ජාතකම්- - Thy horoscope; අන්වපෘච්ඡන් - asked again and again;
Translation
The Gopaalakas witnessed Thy tremendous feats such as the lifting of the mountain and Thy great powers. They considered Thee to be the Lord of the Universe. All of them asked Nanda again and again about Thy horoscope.
ශ්ලෝකඃ
ගර්ගෝදිතෝ නිර්ගදිතෝ නිජාය වර්ගාය තාතේන තව ප්රභාවඃ ।
පූර්වාධිකස්ත්වය්යනුරාග ඒෂාමෛධිෂ්ට තාවත් බහුමානභාරඃ ॥2॥
Meaning
ගර්ග-උදිතඃ - as Garg Muni had said; නිර්ගදිතඃ - was told; නිජාය වර්ගාය - for his own clansmen; තාතේන තව ප්රභාවඃ - by Thy father, Thy greatness; පූර්වාධිකඃ - more than before; ත්වයි-අනුරාග - in Thee love; ඒෂාම්-ඓධිෂ්ට - for these (people) increased; තාවත් බහුමානභාරඃ - thereafter, also great respect;
Translation
Thy father told his clansmen of what sage Garg had prophesied about Thy greatness. Thence forward their love and also great respect for Thee increased much more than before.
ශ්ලෝකඃ
තතෝऽවමානෝදිතතත්ත්වබෝධඃ සුරාධිරාජඃ සහ දිව්යගව්යා।
උපේත්ය තුෂ්ටාව ස නෂ්ටගර්වඃ ස්පෘෂ්ට්වා පදාබ්ජං මණිමෞලිනා තේ ॥3॥
Meaning
තතඃ-අවමාන-උදිත- - then by disgrace caused; තත්ත්ව-බෝධඃ - truth realising; සුරාධිරාජඃ - the lord of the gods, Indra; සහ දිව්ය-ගව්යා - with the celestial cow (Kaamadhenu); උපේත්ය තුෂ්ටාව - coming (to Thee) praised; ස නෂ්ටගර්වඃ - he whose pride was shattered; ස්පෘෂ්ට්වා පදාබ්ජං - touching Thy lotus feet; මණිමෞලිනා - (by his) bejewelled crown; තේ - Thy (feet);
Translation
Then as a result of being disgraced his pride was shattered and the lord of the gods, Indra realised the truth about Thee. He came to Thee with the divine cow Kaamadhenu, and sang Thy praises. He touched Thy lotus feet with his bejewelled crowned head.
ශ්ලෝකඃ
ස්නේහස්නුතෛස්ත්වාං සුරභිඃ පයෝභිර්ගෝවිංදනාමාංකිතමභ්යෂිංචත් ।
ඓරාවතෝපාහෘතදිව්යගංගාපාථෝභිරිංද්රෝऽපි ච ජාතහර්ෂඃ ॥4॥
Meaning
ස්නේහ-ස්නුතෛඃ- - with love overflowing (as milk); ත්වාං සුරභිඃ පයෝභිඃ- - Thee, Surabhi (Kaamadhenu) with milk; ගෝවිංද-නාම- - (Thee) with the name Govind; අංකිතම්-අභ්යෂිංචත් - marked and anointed; ඓරාවත-උපාහෘත- - (and) by Airaavata brought; දිව්ය-ගංගා- - with the celestial Ganges; පාථෝභිඃ-ඉංද්රඃ-අපි - waters Indra also; ච (අභිෂිංචත්) - and (anointed) (Thee); ජාත-හර්ෂඃ - delightfully;
Translation
The divine cow Kaamadhenu anointed Thee with her milk overflowing with love for Thee and so Thou were named 'Govinda', the Lord of cows. Airaavata the elephant of Indra brought the waters of the celestial Ganges and Indra also anointed Thee with it delightfully.
ශ්ලෝකඃ
ජගත්ත්රයේශේ ත්වයි ගෝකුලේශේ තථාऽභිෂික්තේ සති ගෝපවාටඃ ।
නාකේऽපි වෛකුංඨපදේऽප්යලභ්යාං ශ්රියං ප්රපේදේ භවතඃ ප්රභාවාත් ॥5॥
Meaning
ජගත්ත්රය-ඊශේ - O Lord of the three Worlds; ත්වයි ගෝකුලේශේ - (when) Thou as the Lord of Gokula; තථා-අභිෂික්තේ සති - thus were anointed; ගෝපවාටඃ - Gokula,; නාකේ-අපි - in heaven also; වෛකුංඨපදේ-අපි- - in Vaikuntha also; අලභ්යාං ශ්රියං - unattainable, (such) prosperity; ප්රපේදේ භවතඃ ප්රභාවාත් - attained by Thy grace;
Translation
O Lord of the three worlds! Thou were anointed as the Lord of Gokula. By Thy grace and glory, Gokula attained a prosperity unknown and unheard of in either the heavens or even in Vaikuntha.
ශ්ලෝකඃ
කදාචිදංතර්යමුනං ප්රභාතේ ස්නායන් පිතා වාරුණපූරුෂේණ ।
නීතස්තමානේතුමගාඃ පුරීං ත්වං තාං වාරුණීං කාරණමර්ත්යරූපඃ ॥6॥
Meaning
කදාචිත්- - once; අංතර්-යමුනං - in the river Yamunaa; ප්රභාතේ ස්නායන් පිතා - very early in the morning bathing, (Thy) father; වාරුණ-පූරුෂේණ - by Varuna's emissary; නීතඃ-තම්-ආනේතුම්- - was taken away, him to bring back; අගාඃ පුරීං - (Thou) went to the city; ත්වං තාං වාරුණීං - Thou ,of Varuna; කාරණ-මර්ත්ය-රූපඃ - (to fulfill the) purpose of human form;
Translation
Once very early in the morning, Thy father was bathing in the river Yamunaa. He was taken away by the emissary of Varuna. To bring him back and also to fulfill the purpose of Thy taking human form, Thou went to the city of Varuna .
ශ්ලෝකඃ
සසංභ්රමං තේන ජලාධිපේන ප්රපූජිතස්ත්වං ප්රතිගෘහ්ය තාතම් ।
උපාගතස්තත්ක්ෂණමාත්මගේහං පිතාऽවදත්තච්චරිතං නිජේභ්යඃ ॥7॥
Meaning
සසංභ්රමං - with great surprise; තේන ජලාධිපේන - by him, the Lord of the waters; ප්රපූජිතඃ-ත්වං - was well worshipped Thou; ප්රතිගෘහ්ය තාතම් - taking (Thy) father; උපාගතඃ- - returned; තත්-ක්ෂණම්- - at once; ආත්ම-ගේහං - to Thy own house; පිතා-අවදත්- - father said; තත්-චරිතං - that incident; නිජේභ්යඃ - to his clansmen;
Translation
The Lord of the waters, Varuna, was taken by surprise at Thy unexpected appearance. Thou were well worshipped by him. Thou immediately returned home with Thy father. Thy father, Nanda, later narrated this incident to his clansmen.
ශ්ලෝකඃ
හරිං විනිශ්චිත්ය භවංතමේතාන් භවත්පදාලෝකනබද්ධතෘෂ්ණාන් ॥
නිරීක්ෂ්ය විෂ්ණෝ පරමං පදං තද්දුරාපමන්යෛස්ත්වමදීදෘශස්තාන් ॥8॥
Meaning
හරිං විනිශ්චිත්ය - as Hari knowing with certainty; භවංතම්-ඒතාන් - Thee, to them; භවත්-පද-ආලෝකන- - Thy state (of bliss) to see; බද්ධ-තෘෂ්ණාන් - tied by (such a) thirst; නිරීක්ෂ්ය විෂ්ණෝ - seeing, O All pervading Lord!; පරමං පදං තත්- - supreme state that; දුරාපම්-අන්යෛඃ- - not easily attainable by others; ත්වම්-අදීදෘශඃ-තාන් - Thou showed to them;
Translation
The Gopas were convinced that Thou were definitely Hari Himself. O All pervading Lord! They were tied with the intense thirst of having a direct experience of Thy Supreme State. Thou showed them that state which is not attainable to men without devotion.
ශ්ලෝකඃ
ස්ඵුරත්පරානංදරසප්රවාහප්රපූර්ණකෛවල්යමහාපයෝධෞ ।
චිරං නිමග්නාඃ ඛලු ගෝපසංඝාස්ත්වයෛව භූමන් පුනරුද්ධෘතාස්තේ ॥9॥
Meaning
ස්ඵුරත්- - shining; පරානංදරස- - (with) supreme bliss nectar; ප්රවාහ-ප්රපූර්ණ- - flow, full of it; කෛවල්ය-මහාපයෝධෞ - (in the) liberation's great ocean; චිරං නිමග්නාඃ - for long immersed; ඛලු ගෝපසංඝාඃ- - indeed the Gopas; ත්වයා-ඒව භූමන් - by Thee only, O Infinite One!; පුනඃ-උද්ධෘතාඃ-තේ - again were taken out, they;
Translation
The great ocean of liberation was full and overflowing and lustrous with the supreme blissful nectar. The groups of Gopas were indeed immersed in it for long. O Infinite One! By Thee alone they were drawn back to their worldly state of consciousness.
ශ්ලෝකඃ
කරබදරවදේවං දේව කුත්රාවතාරේ
නිජපදමනවාප්යං දර්ශිතං භක්තිභාජාම් ।
තදිහ පශුපරූපී ත්වං හි සාක්ෂාත් පරාත්මා
පවනපුරනිවාසින් පාහි මාමාමයේභ්යඃ ॥10॥
Meaning
කර-බදර-වත්-ඒවං - in hand a berry like thus; දේව කුත්ර-අවතාරේ - O Lord! In which incarnation; නිජ-පදම්-අනවාප්යම් - Thy own abode (which is) unattainable; දර්ශිතං භක්තිභාජාම් - is shown to the devotees; තත්-ඉහ පශුපරූපී - so here, in the cowherd form; ත්වං හි සාක්ෂාත් - Thou indeed, in reality are; පරාත්මා - Supreme Lord!; පවනපුරනිවාසින් - O Dweller of Guruvaayura!; පාහි මාම්- - save me; ආමයේභ්යඃ - from ailments;
Translation
O Lord! Thy unattainable abode was revealed to the devotees with such ease and clearly as a berry in one's palm. In which other incarnation of Thee has such a thing happened? So, it is certain that here in the form of a cowherd, Thou are the Supreme Self. O Dweller of Guruvaayur! save me from ailments.
