ශ්ලෝකඃ
රාමේऽථ ගෝකුලගතේ ප්රමදාප්රසක්තේ
හූතානුපේතයමුනාදමනේ මදාංධේ ।
ස්වෛරං සමාරමති සේවකවාදමූඪෝ
දූතං න්යයුංක්ත තව පෞංඩ්රකවාසුදේවඃ ॥1॥

Meaning
රාමේ-අථ - Thou (when) Balaraam; ගෝකුල-ගතේ - had gone to Gokul; ප්රමදා-ප්රසක්තේ - with the damsels sporting; හූත-අනුපේත- - when called , not coming; යමුනා-දමනේ - Yamunaa to subdue; මදාංධේ - intoxicated (Balaraam); ස්වෛරං සමාරමති - at will sporting around; සේවක-වාද්-මූඪඃ - subordinate's advice misled by; දූතං න්යයුංක්ත - messenger sent; තව - to Thee; පෞංඩ්රක-වාසුදේව - Paundraka Vaasudeva;

Translation
Then when intoxicated Balaraam was sporting happily and at will with the damsels, he called over Yamuna to him. When Yamuna did not comply to his wishes he subdued her by turning her course. At that time Paundraka Vaasudeva misled by the ill advice of his subordinates, sent a messenger to Thee.

ශ්ලෝකඃ
නාරායණෝऽහමවතීර්ණ ඉහාස්මි භූමෞ
ධත්සේ කිල ත්වමපි මාමකලක්ෂණානි ।
උත්සෘජ්ය තානි ශරණං ව්රජ මාමිති ත්වාං
දූතෝ ජගාද සකලෛර්හසිතඃ සභායාම් ॥2॥

Meaning
නාරායණඃ-අහම්- - Naaraayana am I; අවතීර්ණ ඉහ-අස්මි භූමෞ - descended here have I on earth; ධත්සේ කිල ත්වම්-අපි - bear indeed you also; මාමක-ලක්ෂණානි - my emblems; උත්සෘජ්ය තානි - abandon them; ශරණං ව්රජ මාම්-ඉති - surrender take unto me, thus; ත්වාං දූතඃ ජගාද - to Thee the messenger said; සකලෛඃ-හසිතඃ - while every one laughed; සභායාම් - in the assembly;

Translation
I am Naaraayana and have descended here on this earth. It seems you too bear my emblems. Abandon them and surrender unto me.' Thus the messenger said to Thee to the amusement of all in the assembly.

ශ්ලෝකඃ
දූතේऽථ යාතවති යාදවසෛනිකෛස්ත්වං
යාතෝ දදර්ශිථ වපුඃ කිල පෞංඩ්රකීයම් ।
තාපේන වක්ෂසි කෘතාංකමනල්පමූල්ය-
ශ්රීකෞස්තුභං මකරකුංඩලපීතචේලම් ॥3॥

Meaning
දූතේ-අථ යාතවති - the messenger, when had departed; යාවද-සෛනිකෛඃ-ත්වං - with the Yaadava army Thou; යාතඃ දදර්ශිථ - went and saw; වපුඃ කිල පෞංඩ්රකීයම් - the body indeed of Poundraka; තාපේන වක්ෂසි - by heat on the chest; කෘත-අංකම්- - was made a mark; අනල්ප-මූල්ය- - not of little cost; ශ්රී කෞස්තුභං - Shri Kaustubha; මකර-කුංඩල - fish shaped ear ornaments; පීත-චේලම් - (and) yellow silk garment;

Translation
After the messenger had departed, Thou went with the Yaadava army to the capital of Paundraka. There Thou saw the ridiculous form of Paundraka's body marked by a burnt sign (representing Srivatsa) an invaluable gem round his neck (representing the Kaustubha) and wearing also fish shaped ear ornaments and a yellow silk garment.

ශ්ලෝකඃ
කාලායසං නිජසුදර්ශනමස්යතෝऽස්ය
කාලානලෝත්කරකිරේණ සුදර්ශනේන ।
ශීර්ෂං චකර්තිථ මමර්දිථ චාස්ය සේනාං
තන්මිත්රකාශිපශිරෝऽපි චකර්ථ කාශ්යාම් ॥4॥

Meaning
කාල-ආයාසං - of black iron; නිජ-සුදර්ශනම්- - his own Sudarshana; අස්යතඃ-අස්ය - throwing, his; කාල-අනල-උත්කර- - cosmic fire sparks; කිරේණ සුදර්ශනේන් - emitted by the Sudarshana; ශීර්ෂං චකර්තිථ - (his) head cut off; මමර්දිථ ච අස්ය සේනාං - and crushed his army; තත්-මිත්ර-කාශිප- - his friend Kaashi's; ශිරඃ-අපි චකර්ථ - head also cut off; කාශ්යාම් - (and sent) into Kaashi;

Translation
Paundraka threw his own Sudershana made of black iron at Thee. Thou then cut off his head by Thy Sudarshana which was emitting sparks of cosmic fire, and crushed his army. Thou also cur off the head of his friend Kaashi and hurled it into Kaashi itself.

ශ්ලෝකඃ
ජාල්යේන බාලකගිරාऽපි කිලාහමේව
ශ්රීවාසුදේව ඉති රූඪමතිශ්චිරං සඃ ।
සායුජ්යමේව භවදෛක්යධියා ගතෝऽභූත්
කෝ නාම කස්ය සුකෘතං කථමිත්යවේයාත් ॥5॥

Meaning
ජාල්යේන් - due to stupidity; බාලක-ගිරා-අපි - by immature words even; කිල-අහම්-ඒව - indeed I only (am); ශ්රී-වාසුදේව ඉති - Shree Vaasudeva, thus; රූඪමතිඃ-චිරං සඃ - firmly believing for long he; සායුජ්යම්-ඒව - union (with Thee) only; භවත්-ඓක්ය-ධියා - with Thee oneness by thinking; ගතඃ-අභෝත් - attained; කඃ නාම - who indeed (knows); කස්ය සුකෘතං - whose good deeds; කථම්-ඉති-අවේයාත් - in which way (come about), knows;

Translation
It may be due to stupidity or due to believing the immature words of young people that Paundraka for long firmly believed in his mind that he himself was indeed Vaasudeva. This thought made him constantly be in oneness with Thee and so he attained Saayujya (union with Thee). Who knows whose good deeds lead him where and to what credit?

ශ්ලෝකඃ
කාශීශ්වරස්ය තනයෝऽථ සුදක්ෂිණාඛ්යඃ
ශර්වං ප්රපූජ්ය භවතේ විහිතාභිචාරඃ ।
කෘත්යානලං කමපි බාණ්රරණාතිභීතෛ-
ර්භූතෛඃ කථංචන වෘතෛඃ සමමභ්යමුංචත් ॥6॥

Meaning
කාශී-ඊශ්වරස්ය - Kaashi king's; තනයඃ-අථ - son then; සුදක්ෂිණ-ආඛ්යඃ - Sudakshina by name; ශර්වං ප්රපූජ්ය - Shankara worshipping well; භවතේ විහිත- - in The performed; අභිචාරඃ - black magic; කෘත්යා-අනලං - Krityaa fire; කම්-අපි - some (fierce and evil); බාණ-රණ-අති-භීතෛඃ- - in Baana's battle very frightened; භූතෛඃ කථංචන වෘතෛඃ - by those Bhootas somehow followed by; සමම්-අභ්යමුංචත් - with them released;

Translation
Then the son of the king of Kaashi, called Sudakshina fervently worshipped Shankara. He performed black magic on Thee and released an evil fierce fire named Krityaa. He also somehow mobilised the Bhootas who were frightened during the battle Thou fought with Baana.

ශ්ලෝකඃ
තාලප්රමාණචරණාමඛිලං දහංතීං
කෘත්යාං විලෝක්ය චකිතෛඃ කථිතෝऽපි පෞරෛඃ ।
ද්යූතෝත්සවේ කිමපි නෝ චලිතෝ විභෝ ත්වං
පාර්ශ්වස්ථමාශු විසසර්ජිථ කාලචක්රම් ॥7॥

Meaning
තාල-ප්රමාණ-චරණාම්- - palm trees like long legged; අඛිලං දහංතීං - everything burning; කෘත්යාං විලෝක්ය - Krityaa seeing; චකිතෛඃ - by the frightened; කථිතඃ-අපි පෞරෛඃ - Thou being informed even by citizens; ද්යූත-උත්සවේ - in the dice game; කිම්-අපි නෝ චලිතඃ - in the least not moving; විභෝ ත්වං - O Lord Thou!; පාර්ශ්වස්ථම්-ආශු - placed near by immediately; විසසර්ජිථ - deployed; කාල-චක්රම් - Sudarshana discus;

Translation
The frightened citizens saw the Krityaa fire with long legs like palm trees burning everything and they informed Thee of this. Thou without stirring from Thy seat at the game of dice in which Thou were engrossed, deployed O Lord! Thy Sudarshana discus which was ready at hand.

ශ්ලෝකඃ
අභ්යාපතත්යමිතධාම්නි භවන්මහාස්ත්රේ
හා හේති විද්රුතවතී ඛලු ඝෝරකෘත්යා।
රෝෂාත් සුදක්ෂිණමදක්ෂිණචේෂ්ටිතං තං
පුප්ලෝෂ චක්රමපි කාශිපුරීමධාක්ෂීත් ॥8॥

Meaning
අභ්යාපතති- - dashing; අමිත-ධාම්නි - the ever brilliant; භවත්-මහා-අස්ත්රේ - Thy great weapon; හා හා-ඉති - oh oh thus shouting; විද්රුතවතී - running away; ඛලු ඝෝර-කෘත්යා - indeed the terrible Krityaa; රෝෂාත් සුදක්ෂිණම්- - in anger Sudakshina; අදක්ෂිණ-චේෂ්ටිතං තං - the impious actioned, him; පුප්ලෝෂ චක්රම්-අපි - burnt down discus also; කාශි-පුරීම්-අධාක්ෂීත් - the Kaashi city burnt down;

Translation
Thy ever brilliant great weapon dashed towards Krityaa. The terrible Krityaa ran away shouting in distress and in anger burnt down the impious actioned Sudakshina himself. Thy Sudarshana discus in turn burnt down the city of Kaashi.

ශ්ලෝකඃ
ස ඛලු විවිදෝ රක්ෂෝඝාතේ කෘතෝපකෘතිඃ පුරා
තව තු කලයා මෘත්යුං ප්රාප්තුං තදා ඛලතාං ගතඃ ।
නරකසචිවෝ දේශක්ලේශං සෘජන් නගරාංතිකේ
ඣටිති හලිනා යුධ්යන්නද්ධා පපාත තලාහතඃ ॥9॥

Meaning
ස ඛලු විවිදඃ - he indeed Vividha; රක්ෂෝඝාතේ - in the Raakshasa's killing; කෘත-උපකෘතිඃ පුරා - had given help long ago; තව තු කලයා - by Thy part incarnation; මෘත්යුං ප්රාප්තුං - death to get; තදා ඛලතාං ගතඃ - then to wickedness took; නරක-සචිවඃ - Narakaasura's minister; දේශ-ක්ලේශං සෘජන් - to public suffering causing; නගර-අංතිකේ - near the town of Dwaarika; ඣටිති හලිනා - immediately with Balaraama; යුධ්යන්-අද්ධා - fighting with ease; පපාත-තල-ආහතඃ - fell down hit by the palm;

Translation
Long ago Vividha, the monkey who had helped Thee in killing the Raakshasas (during Thy incarnation as Raama) nursed the desire to be killed by Thy part incarnation. As a minister of Narakaasura, he took to evil ways and started creating sufferings for the people in the vicinity of Dwaarika. In a fight with Balaraama, he was killed with ease by a blow of Balaraam's hand in no time.

ශ්ලෝකඃ
සාංබං කෞරව්යපුත්රීහරණනියමිතං සාංත්වනාර්ථී කුරූණාං
යාතස්තද්වාක්යරෝෂෝද්ධෘතකරිනගරෝ මෝචයාමාස රාමඃ ।
තේ ඝාත්යාඃ පාංඩවේයෛරිති යදුපෘතනාං නාමුචස්ත්වං තදානීං
තං ත්වාං දුර්බෝධලීලං පවනපුරපතේ තාපශාංත්යෛ නිෂේවේ ॥10॥

Meaning
සාංබං - Saamba (who was); කෞරව්ය-පුත්රී-හරණ- - (due to) Kuru's daughter's abducting; නියමිතං - in captivity; සාංත්වනා-අර්ථී - to pacify; කුරූණාං යාතඃ- - the Kurus went; තත්-වාක්ය-රෝෂ- - by their talks enraged; උද්ධෘත-කරිනගරඃ - lifted up Hastinaapur; මෝචයාමාස රාමඃ - (and) released (Saamba) Balaraam; තේ ඝාත්යාඃ - they, the Kurus should be killed; පාංඩවේයෛඃ-ඉති - by the Paandavas, thus; යදු-පෘතනාං - the Yadu army; න-අමුචඃ-ත්වං තදානීං - did not send Thee, then; තං ත්වාං දුර්බෝධලීලං - that Thou of unfathomable sportings; පවනපුරපතේ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; තාප-ශාංත්යෛ නිෂේවේ - for the sufferings to be removed (I) worship;

Translation
Saamba was a captive of the Kurus because he had abducted their daughter. Balaraam went to the Kurus to pacify them but was enraged by their talks and lifted up Hastinaapur and released Saamba. Thou did not send the Yaadava army to confront them, because Thou wanted that the Kurus be killed by the Paandavas. Thou whose sporting ways are unfathomable, O Lord of Guruvaayur! I worship Thee so as to remove my sufferings.
