ਕ੍ਵਚਿਦਥ ਤਪਨੋਪਰਾਗਕਾਲੇ ਪੁਰਿ ਨਿਦਧਤ੍ ਕ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਵਰ੍ਮਕਾਮਸੂਨੂ ।
ਯਦੁਕੁਲਮਹਿਲਾਵ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਃ ਸੁਤੀਰ੍ਥਂ ਸਮੁਪਗਤੋਸਿ ਸਮਂਤਪਂਚਕਾਖ੍ਯਮ੍ ॥1॥
Meaning
ਕ੍ਵਚਿਤ੍-ਅਥ - once then; ਤਪਨ-ਉਪਰਾਗ-ਕਾਲੇ - in the solar eclipse time; ਪੁਰਿ ਨਿਦਧਤ੍ - in the city leaving; ਕ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਵਰ੍ਮ-ਕਾਮਸੂਨੂ - Kritavarma and Aniruddha; ਯਦੁਕੁਲ੍-ਮਹਿਲਾ-ਆਵ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਃ - the Yadus and their women folk along with; ਸੁਤੀਰ੍ਥਂ ਸਮੁਪਗਤਃ-ਅਸਿ - to the holy spot (Thou) went; ਸਮਂਤਪਂਚਕ-ਆਖ੍ਯਮ੍ - Samantapanchaka known as;
Translation
Once then during the time of Solar eclipse, leaving behind Kritvarma and Anirudhdha in charge of Dwaarika, Thou went to the holy spot known as Samantapanchaka, along with the Yaadava clan and their womenfolk.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਬਹੁਤਰਜਨਤਾਹਿਤਾਯ ਤਤ੍ਰ ਤ੍ਵਮਪਿ ਪੁਨਨ੍ ਵਿਨਿਮਜ੍ਯ ਤੀਰ੍ਥਤੋਯਮ੍ ।
ਦ੍ਵਿਜਗਣਪਰਿਮੁਕ੍ਤਵਿਤ੍ਤਰਾਸ਼ਿਃ ਸਮਮਿਲਥਾਃ ਕੁਰੁਪਾਂਡਵਾਦਿਮਿਤ੍ਰੈਃ ॥2॥
Meaning
ਬਹੁਤਰ-ਜਨਤਾ-ਹਿਤਾਯ - for the large number of peoples benefit; ਤਤ੍ਰ ਤ੍ਵਮ੍-ਅਪਿ - there Thou also; ਪੁਨਨ੍ - sanctifying; ਵਿਨਿਮਜ੍ਯ ਤੀਰ੍ਥ-ਤੋਯਮ੍ - dipping into the holy waters; ਦ੍ਵਿਜ-ਗਣ-ਪਰਿਮੁਕ੍ਤ- - for the Braahmin groups giving away; ਵਿਤ੍ਤ-ਰਾਸ਼ਿਃ - money in large quantity; ਸਮਮਿਲਥਾਃ - (Thou) interacted; ਕੁਰੁ-ਪਾਂਡਵ-ਆਦਿ-ਮਿਤ੍ਰੈਃ - with the Kauravas and Pandavas and other friends;
Translation
Thou also took a dip in the holy waters and thereby sanctified the waters for the benefit of the large number of people. Thou also gave away money in good amount to the group of the Braahmins. Then Thou interacted with Thy friends the Kauravas and the Paandavas and others.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਤਵ ਖਲੁ ਦਯਿਤਾਜਨੈਃ ਸਮੇਤਾ ਦ੍ਰੁਪਦਸੁਤਾ ਤ੍ਵਯਿ ਗਾਢਭਕ੍ਤਿਭਾਰਾ ।
ਤਦੁਦਿਤਭਵਦਾਹ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਿਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੈਃ ਅਤਿਮੁਮੁਦੇ ਸਮਮਨ੍ਯਭਾਮਿਨੀਭਿਃ ॥3॥
Meaning
ਤਵ ਖਲੁ ਦਯਿਤਾ-ਜਨੈਃ - Thy indeed with the wives; ਸਮੇਤਾ - mixing; ਦ੍ਰੁਪਦਸੁਤਾ ਤ੍ਵਯਿ - Draupadi in Thee; ਗਾਢ-ਭਕ੍ਤਿ-ਭਾਰਾ - deep devotion carrying; ਤਤ੍-ਉਦਿਤ- - by them said; ਭਵਤ੍-ਆਹ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਿ-ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੈਃ - Thy carrying (them) away methods; ਅਤਿ-ਮੁਮੁਦੇ - was very delighted; ਸਮਮ੍-ਅਨ੍ਯ-ਭਾਮਿਨੀਭਿਃ - with other women;
Translation
Draupadi who was deeply devoted to Thee, freely mixed with Thy wives. She was very much delighted when they narrated the various methods by which they were abducted and married by Thee. The other women also enjoyed the narrations.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਤਦਨੁ ਚ ਭਗਵਨ੍ ਨਿਰੀਕ੍ਸ਼੍ਯ ਗੋਪਾਨਤਿਕੁਤੁਕਾਦੁਪਗਮ੍ਯ ਮਾਨਯਿਤ੍ਵਾ।
ਚਿਰਤਰਵਿਰਹਾਤੁਰਾਂਗਰੇਖਾਃ ਪਸ਼ੁਪਵਧੂਃ ਸਰਸਂ ਤ੍ਵਮਨ੍ਵਯਾਸੀਃ ॥4॥
Meaning
ਤਦਨੁ ਚ ਭਗਵਨ੍ - and after that O Lord!; ਨਿਰੀਕ੍ਸ਼੍ਯ ਗੋਪਾਨ੍- - seeing the gopas; ਅਤਿ-ਕੁਤੁਕਾਤ੍- - with great joy; ਉਪਗਮ੍ਯ ਮਾਨਯਿਤ੍ਵਾ - approaching and honoring them; ਚਿਰਤਰ-ਵਿਰਹ-ਆਤੁਰ- - for very long separation (from Thee) suffering; ਅਂਗ-ਰੇਖਾਃ - body frailed; ਪਸ਼ੁਪ-ਵਧੂਃ - the gopikas; ਸਰਸਂ ਤ੍ਵਮ੍-ਅਨ੍ਵਯਾਸੀਃ - joyfully Thee approached;
Translation
After that O Lord! Seeing the gopas Thou approached and honoured them with great joy. The gopikas had become frail in body due to the sorrow of separation from Thee for a very long time. Thou joyfully went to them also.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਸਪਦਿ ਚ ਭਵਦੀਕ੍ਸ਼ਣੋਤ੍ਸਵੇਨ ਪ੍ਰਮੁਸ਼ਿਤਮਾਨਹ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਦਾਂ ਨਿਤਂਬਿਨੀਨਾਮ੍ ।
ਅਤਿਰਸਪਰਿਮੁਕ੍ਤਕਂਚੁਲੀਕੇ ਪਰਿਚਯਹ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਦ੍ਯਤਰੇ ਕੁਚੇ ਨ੍ਯਲੈਸ਼ੀਃ ॥5॥
Meaning
ਸਪਦਿ ਚ - and soon; ਭਵਤ੍-ਈਕ੍ਸ਼ਣ-ਉਤ੍ਸਵੇਨ - Thee seeing celebration; ਪ੍ਰਮੁਸ਼ਿਤ-ਮਾਨ-ਹ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਦਾਮ੍ - wiped away the complaints from their hearts; ਨਿਤਂਬਿਨੀਨਾਮ੍ - of the beautiful women; ਅਤਿ-ਰਸ-ਪਰਿਮੁਕ੍ਤ- - intense love giving away; ਕਂਚੁਲੀਕੇ - their bodices; ਪਰਿਚਯ-ਹ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਦ੍ਯਤਰੇ - in the familiar and very dear; ਕੁਚੇ ਨ੍ਯਲੈਸ਼ੀਃ - breasts (Thou) got absorbed;
Translation
Instantly then, celebrating the joy of Thy sight all complaints from the hearts of the beautiful women were wiped away. With the intense love welled up, their bodices burst open revealing their very dear familiar breasts where Thou got absorbed.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਰਿਪੁਜਨਕਲਹੈਃ ਪੁਨਃ ਪੁਨਰ੍ਮੇ ਸਮੁਪਗਤੈਰਿਯਤੀ ਵਿਲਂਬਨਾਭੂਤ੍ ।
ਇਤਿ ਕ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਪਰਿਰਂਭਣੇਤ੍ਵਯਿ ਦ੍ਰਾਕ੍ ਅਤਿਵਿਵਸ਼ਾ ਖਲੁ ਰਾਧਿਕਾ ਨਿਲਿਲ੍ਯੇ ॥6॥
Meaning
ਰਿਪੁ-ਜਨ-ਕਲਹੈਃ - enemies in conflict; ਪੁਨਃ ਪੁਨਃ- - again and again; ਮੇ ਸਮੁਪਗਤੈਃ- - my, by happening; ਇਯਤੀ ਵਿਲਂਬਨਾ- - so much delay; ਅਭੂਤ੍ - became; ਇਤਿ ਕ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤ-ਪਰਿਰਂਭਣੇ- - thus making embrace; ਤ੍ਵਯਿ ਦ੍ਰਾਕ੍ - by Thee immediately; ਅਤਿਵਿਵਸ਼ਾ - very overwhelmed; ਖਲੁ ਰਾਧਿਕਾ - indeed Raadhika; ਨਿਲਿਲ੍ਯੇ - became absorbed;
Translation
Raadhikaa was totally absorbed in Thee when Thou embraced her and told her that so much delay was caused in meeting her and the gopikas because of frequent clashes with the enemies.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਅਪਗਤਵਿਰਹਵ੍ਯਥਾਸ੍ਤਦਾ ਤਾ ਰਹਸਿ ਵਿਧਾਯ ਦਦਾਥ ਤਤ੍ਤ੍ਵਬੋਧਮ੍ ।
ਪਰਮਸੁਖਚਿਦਾਤ੍ਮਕੋਹਮਾਤ੍ਮੇਤ੍ਯੁਦਯਤੁ ਵਃ ਸ੍ਫੁਟਮੇਵ ਚੇਤਸੀਤਿ ॥7॥
Meaning
ਅਪਗਤ-ਵਿਰਹ-ਵ੍ਯਥਾਃ- - (who were) free of the separation pangs; ਤਦਾ ਤਾਃ - then they (the gopikas); ਰਹਸਿ ਵਿਧਾਯ - privately making; ਦਦਾਥ ਤਤ੍ਤ੍ਵ-ਬੋਧਮ੍ - gave the knowledge of Reality; ਪਰਮ-ਸੁਖ-ਚਿਤ੍- - Supreme Bliss Consciousness; ਆਤ੍ਮਕਃ-ਅਹਮ੍-ਆਤ੍ਮਾ- - Brahamana am I, the self; ਇਤਿ-ਉਦਯਤੁ ਵਃ - thus may dawn in you; ਸ੍ਫੁਟਮ੍-ਏਵ - very clearly only; ਚੇਤਸਿ-ਇਤਿ - in your hearts, thus;
Translation
Then the gopikas were rendered free from the pangs of separation as Thou gave them the knowledge of Supreme self privately. Thou instilled into their hearts that Thou were the Supreme Bliss Consciousness and the Supreme Brahaman, their inner most self.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਸੁਖਰਸਪਰਿਮਿਸ਼੍ਰਿਤੋ ਵਿਯੋਗਃ ਕਿਮਪਿ ਪੁਰਾਭਵਦੁਦ੍ਧਵੋਪਦੇਸ਼ੈਃ ।
ਸਮਭਵਦਮੁਤਃ ਪਰਂ ਤੁ ਤਾਸਾਂ ਪਰਮਸੁਖੈਕ੍ਯਮਯੀ ਭਵਦ੍ਵਿਚਿਂਤਾ ॥8॥
Meaning
ਸੁਖ-ਰਸ-ਪਰਿਮਿਸ਼੍ਰਿਤਃ - with joy mixed; ਵਿਯੋਗਃ ਕਿਮ੍-ਅਪਿ - separation somehow; ਪੁਰਾ-ਅਭਵਤ੍- - formerly happened; ਉਦ੍ਧਵ-ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ੈਃ - by Uddhava's preachings; ਸਮਭਵਤ੍-ਅਮੁਤਃ - (but) happened by this; ਪਰਂ ਤੁ ਤਾਸਾਮ੍ - after (this) indeed to them; ਪਰਮ੍-ਸੁਖ-ਐਕ੍ਯਮਯੀ - Supreme Blissful Union; ਭਵਤ੍-ਵਿਚਿਂਤਾ - (with Thee by) Thy (mere) thought;
Translation
There remained a feeling of joy mixed with the sorrow of separation when long back the gopikas were advised by Uddhava. But after this instruction by Thee, they indeed were experiencing Supreme Blissful Union with Thee by a mere thought of Thee.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਮੁਨਿਵਰਨਿਵਹੈਸ੍ਤਵਾਥ ਪਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਦੁਰਿਤਸ਼ਮਾਯ ਸ਼ੁਭਾਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਚ੍ਛ੍ਯਮਾਨੈਃ ।
ਤ੍ਵਯਿ ਸਤਿ ਕਿਮਿਦਂ ਸ਼ੁਭਾਂਤਰੈਃ ਰਿਤ੍ਯੁਰੁਹਸਿਤੈਰਪਿ ਯਾਜਿਤਸ੍ਤਦਾਸੌ ॥9॥
Meaning
ਮੁਨਿ-ਵਰ-ਨਿਵਹੈਃ- - by the great sages groups; ਤਵ-ਅਥ ਪਿਤ੍ਰਾ - Thy then father; ਦੁਰਿਤ-ਸ਼ਮਾਯ - for son's atonement; ਸ਼ੁਭਾਨਿ - auspicious rites; ਪ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਚ੍ਛ੍ਯਮਾਨੈਃ - were being asked; ਤ੍ਵਯਿ ਸਤਿ - Thou being there; ਕਿਮ੍-ਇਦਮ੍-ਸ਼ੁਭ-ਅਂਤਰੈਃ- - what this auspicious rite others; ਇਤਿ-ਉਰੁ-ਹਸਿਤੈਃ-ਅਪਿ - thus loudly laughing also; ਯਾਜਿਤਃ-ਤਦਾ-ਅਸੌ - made to perform sacrifices then he (Vasudeva);
Translation
Vasudeva asked the assembly of the great sages about the auspicious rites to be performed for the atonement for the sins. Even though the sages were very amused and laughed at such an enquiry, because having Thee as a son there was no need for any atonements. But they made him perform the required rites all the same.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਸੁਮਹਤਿ ਯਜਨੇ ਵਿਤਾਯਮਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁਦਿਤਮਿਤ੍ਰਜਨੇ ਸਹੈਵ ਗੋਪਾਃ ।
ਯਦੁਜਨਮਹਿਤਾਸ੍ਤ੍ਰਿਮਾਸਮਾਤ੍ਰਂ ਭਵਦਨੁਸ਼ਂਗਰਸਂ ਪੁਰੇਵ ਭੇਜੁ ਃ ॥10॥
Meaning
ਸੁਮਹਤਿ ਯਜਨੇ - during the very big sacrifice; ਵਿਤਾਯਮਾਨੇ - which was being performed; ਪ੍ਰਮੁਦਿਤ-ਮਿਤ੍ਰ-ਜਨੇ - with the delighted friends; ਸਹ-ਏਵ ਗੋਪਾਃ - also along with the gopas; ਯਦੁ-ਜਨ-ਮਹਿਤਾਃ - by the Yaadavas honoured; ਤ੍ਰਿ-ਮਾਸ-ਮਾਤ੍ਰਂ - for three months; ਭਵਤ੍-ਅਨੁਸ਼ਂਗ-ਰਸਂ - Thy company's pleasure; ਪੁਰਾ-ਏਵ ਭੇਜੁਃ - like the olden times enjoyed;
Translation
The very big sacrifice was performed which lasted for three months. During that time Thy friends and the gopas were honoured by the Yaadavas and they enjoyed Thy company's pleasure like in the olden days.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਵ੍ਯਪਗਮਸਮਯੇ ਸਮੇਤ੍ਯ ਰਾਧਾਂ ਦ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਢਮੁਪਗੂਹ੍ਯ ਨਿਰੀਕ੍ਸ਼੍ਯ ਵੀਤਖੇਦਾਮ੍ ।
ਪ੍ਰਮੁਦਿਤਹ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਦਯਃ ਪੁਰਂ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤਃ ਪਵਨਪੁਰੇਸ਼੍ਵਰ ਪਾਹਿ ਮਾਂ ਗਦੇਭ੍ਯਃ ॥11॥
Meaning
ਵ੍ਯਪਗਮ-ਸਮਯੇ - at the departing time; ਸਮੇਤ੍ਯ ਰਾਧਾਮ੍ - approaching Raadhaa; ਦ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਢਮ੍-ਉਪਗੂਹ੍ਯ - tightly embracing; ਨਿਰੀਕ੍ਸ਼੍ਯ ਵੀਤ-ਖੇਦਾਮ੍ - seeing (her) free from sorrow; ਪ੍ਰਮੁਦਿਤ-ਹ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਦਯਃ - with a happy heart; ਪੁਰਮ੍-ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤਃ - Thou went back (to Dwaarika); ਪਵਨਪੁਰੇਸ਼੍ਵਰ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; ਪਾਹਿ ਮਾਂ ਗਦੇਭ੍ਯਃ - save me from ailments;
Translation
At the time of departing Thou approached Raadhaa. As Thou held her in a tight embrace Thou were happy to see her free from all sorrow of separation or otherwise. Thou returned to Dwaarikaa with a happy heart. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Save me from all ailments.
