ਤਵ ਵਿਲੋਕਨਾਦ੍ਗੋਪਿਕਾਜਨਾਃ ਪ੍ਰਮਦਸਂਕੁਲਾਃ ਪਂਕਜੇਕ੍ਸ਼ਣ ।
ਅਮ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਧਾਰਯਾ ਸਂਪ੍ਲੁਤਾ ਇਵ ਸ੍ਤਿਮਿਤਤਾਂ ਦਧੁਸ੍ਤ੍ਵਤ੍ਪੁਰੋਗਤਾਃ ॥1॥
Meaning
ਤਵ ਵਿਲੋਕਨਾਤ੍- - ( with) Thy vision (by seeing); ਗੋਪਿਕਾ-ਜਨਾਃ - the Gopikaas; ਪ੍ਰਮਦ-ਸਂਕੁਲਾਃ - with joy overcome; ਪਂਕਜੇਕ੍ਸ਼ਣ - O Lotus eyed One!; ਅਮ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤ-ਧਾਰਯਾ - by the immortal bliss downpour; ਸਂਪ੍ਲੁਤਾ ਇਵ - drenched as if; ਸ੍ਤਿਮਿਤਤਾਂ - motionless; ਦਧੁਃ- - attained; ਤ੍ਵਤ੍-ਪੁਰੋ-ਗਤਾਃ - by Thy in front coming;
Translation
O Lotus eyed One! As the Gopikaas saw Thee and approached Thee, they were overcome with joy. They stood stupefied and motionless as if drenched in a downpour of Immortal Bliss, seeing Thee in front of them.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਤਦਨੁ ਕਾਚਨ ਤ੍ਵਤ੍ਕਰਾਂਬੁਜਂ ਸਪਦਿ ਗ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਹ੍ਣਤੀ ਨਿਰ੍ਵਿਸ਼ਂਕਿਤਮ੍ ।
ਘਨਪਯੋਧਰੇ ਸਨ੍ਨਿਧਾਯ ਸਾ ਪੁਲਕਸਂਵ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਾ ਤਸ੍ਥੁਸ਼ੀ ਚਿਰਮ੍ ॥2॥
Meaning
ਤਦਨੁ ਕਾਚਨ - after that, one woman; ਤ੍ਵਤ੍-ਕਰਾਂਬੁਜਮ੍ - Thy lotus hand; ਸਪਦਿ ਗ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਹ੍ਣਤੀ - suddenly holding; ਨਿਰ੍ਵਿਸ਼ਂਕਿਤਮ੍ - without hesitation; ਘਨ-ਪਯੋਧਰੇ - on (her) heavy breasts; ਸਨ੍ਨਿਧਾਯ ਸਾ - placing she; ਪੁਲਕ-ਸਂਵ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਾ - with horripilation all around; ਤਸ੍ਥੁਸ਼ੀ ਚਿਰਮ੍ - stood for long;
Translation
After that, one woman, suddenly took hold of Thy lotus hand and without hesitation placed it on her heavy breasts. She stood like that for a long time with all her hair standing on end.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਤਵ ਵਿਭੋਪਰਾ ਕੋਮਲਂ ਭੁਜਂ ਨਿਜਗਲਾਂਤਰੇ ਪਰ੍ਯਵੇਸ਼੍ਟਯਤ੍ ।
ਗਲਸਮੁਦ੍ਗਤਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਮਾਰੁਤਂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਨਿਰੁਂਧਤੀਵਾਤਿਹਰ੍ਸ਼ੁਲਾ ॥3॥
Meaning
ਤਵ ਵਿਭੋ- - Thy O Lord!; ਅਪਰਾ - another woman; ਕੋਮਲਂ ਭੁਜਂ - Thy tender arms; ਨਿਜ-ਗਲ-ਅਂਤਰੇ - her own neck around; ਪਰ੍ਯਵੇਸ਼੍ਟਯਤ੍ - wound; ਗਲ-ਸਮੁਦ੍ਗਤਂ - coming out of the throat; ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਮਾਰੁਤਂ - the vital breath; ਪ੍ਰਤਿਨਿਰੁਂਧਤਿ- - stopping; ਇਵ-ਅਤਿ-ਹਰ੍ਸ਼ੁਲਾ - as if, extremely overjoyed;
Translation
Another woman extremely overjoyed, O Lord! Wound Thy tender arms around her own neck, as if stopping the vital breath coming out of her throat.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਅਪਗਤਤ੍ਰਪਾ ਕਾਪਿ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਤਵ ਮੁਖਾਂਬੁਜਾਤ੍ ਪੂਗਚਰ੍ਵਿਤਮ੍ ।
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਗ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਹਯ੍ਯ ਤਦ੍ਵਕ੍ਤ੍ਰਪਂਕਜੇ ਨਿਦਧਤੀ ਗਤਾ ਪੂਰ੍ਣਕਾਮਤਾਮ੍ ॥4॥
Meaning
ਅਪਗਤ-ਤ੍ਰਪਾ - devoid of shame; ਕਾਪਿ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ - some one woman; ਤਵ - Thy; ਮੁਖ-ਅਂਬੁਜਾਤ੍ - from the lotus like mouth; ਪੂਗ-ਚਰ੍ਵਿਤਮ੍ - betel chewed; ਪ੍ਰਤਿਗ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਹਯ੍ਯ - taking; ਤਤ੍-ਵਕ੍ਤ੍ਰ-ਪਂਕਜੇ - (in) her lotus like mouth; ਨਿਦਧਤੀ ਗਤਾ - putting, attained; ਪੂਰ੍ਣ-ਕਾਮਤਾਮ੍ - fulfillment of all desires;
Translation
One woman, devoid of all shame, from Thy lotus like mouth, taking the chewed betel, put it into her lotus like mouth. Doing so she attained the summit of fulfillment of all desires.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਵਿਕਰੁਣੋ ਵਨੇ ਸਂਵਿਹਾਯ ਮਾਮਪਗਤੋਸਿ ਕਾ ਤ੍ਵਾਮਿਹ ਸ੍ਪ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਸ਼ੇਤ੍ ।
ਇਤਿ ਸਰੋਸ਼ਯਾ ਤਾਵਦੇਕਯਾ ਸਜਲਲੋਚਨਂ ਵੀਕ੍ਸ਼ਿਤੋ ਭਵਾਨ੍ ॥5॥
Meaning
ਵਿਕਰੁਣਃ - without any pity; ਵਨੇ ਸਂਵਿਹਾਯ ਮਾਮ੍- - in the forest leaving me; ਅਪਗਤਃ-ਅਸਿ - having gone away; ਕਾ ਤ੍ਵਾਮ੍-ਇਹ - which one (of us), Thee here; ਸ੍ਪ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਸ਼ੇਤ੍ ਇਤਿ - will touch, thus (saying); ਸਰੋਸ਼ਯਾ ਤਾਵਤ੍- - resentfully then; ਏਕਯਾ - by one (woman); ਸਜਲ-ਲੋਚਨਮ੍ - with tearful eyes; ਵੀਕ੍ਸ਼ਿਤਃ ਭਵਾਨ੍ - were seen Thou;
Translation
Who ever of us, here, will ever touch Thee who mercilessly abandoned me in the forest.' One of them resentfully said as she looked at Thee with tearful eyes.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਇਤਿ ਮੁਦਾਕੁਲੈਰ੍ਵਲ੍ਲਵੀਜਨੈਃ ਸਮਮੁਪਾਗਤੋ ਯਾਮੁਨੇ ਤਟੇ ।
ਮ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਦੁਕੁਚਾਂਬਰੈਃ ਕਲ੍ਪਿਤਾਸਨੇ ਘੁਸ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਣਭਾਸੁਰੇ ਪਰ੍ਯਸ਼ੋਭਥਾਃ ॥6॥
Meaning
ਇਤਿ ਮੁਦਾਕੁਲੈਃ- - thus with them who were overwhelmed with joy; ਵਲ੍ਲਵੀਜਨੈਃ - the Gopikaas; ਸਮਮ੍-ਉਪਾਗਤਃ - with them went to; ਯਾਮੁਨੇ ਤਟੇ - the Yamunaa banks; ਮ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਦੁ-ਕੁਚ-ਅਂਬਰੈਃ - with the soft upper garments (scarfs); ਕਲ੍ਪਿਤ-ਆਸਨੇ - prepared seat (on that); ਘੁਸ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਣ-ਭਾਸੁਰੇ - (which was) with saffron tainted; ਪਰ੍ਯਸ਼ੋਭਥਾਃ - Thou shone;
Translation
In this manner, Thou went to the banks of the river Yamunaa with the Gopikaas who were overwhelmed with joy. The Gopikaas prepared a seat with their saffron tainted upper clothes, on which Thou sat with all splendour and shining with glory.
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਕਤਿਵਿਧਾ ਕ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਪਾ ਕੇਪਿ ਸਰ੍ਵਤੋ ਧ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਦਯੋਦਯਾਃ ਕੇਚਿਦਾਸ਼੍ਰਿਤੇ ।
ਕਤਿਚਿਦੀਦ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਸ਼ਾ ਮਾਦ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਸ਼ੇਸ਼੍ਵਪੀਤ੍ਯਭਿਹਿਤੋ ਭਵਾਨ੍ ਵਲ੍ਲਵੀਜਨੈਃ ॥7॥
Meaning
ਕਤਿਵਿਧਾ ਕ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਪਾ - of how many varieties is kindness; ਕੇ-ਅਪਿ ਸਰ੍ਵਤਃ - some (people have) for all; ਧ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤ-ਦਯੋਦਯਾਃ - having compassion; ਕੇਚਿਤ੍-ਆਸ਼੍ਰਿਤੇ - some people for (their) dependents; ਕਤਿਚਿਤ੍-ਈਦ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਸ਼ਾ - some (people) are such (like Thee who); ਮਾ-ਦ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਸ਼ੇਸ਼ੁ-ਅਪਿ- - on people like me even (do not have pity); ਇਤਿ-ਅਭਿਹਿਤਃ - thus were told; ਭਵਾਨ੍ - Thou; ਵਲ੍ਲਵੀਜਨੈਃ - by the Gopikaas;
Translation
The Gopikaas told Thee 'There are so many varieties of compassion. Some people have compassion for everyone. Some have compassion for their dependents. Yet, some are such that they do not have compassion even towards those who have given up everything and fully surrendered, like me.'
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਅਯਿ ਕੁਮਾਰਿਕਾ ਨੈਵ ਸ਼ਂਕ੍ਯਤਾਂ ਕਠਿਨਤਾ ਮਯਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਕਾਤਰੇ ।
ਮਯਿ ਤੁ ਚੇਤਸੋ ਵੋਨੁਵ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤ੍ਤਯੇ ਕ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਮਿਦਂ ਮਯੇਤ੍ਯੂਚਿਵਾਨ੍ ਭਵਾਨ੍ ॥8॥
Meaning
ਅਯਿ ਕੁਮਾਰਿਕਾ - O dear girls!; ਨ-ਏਵ ਸ਼ਂਕ੍ਯਤਾਂ - do not certainly doubt; ਕਠਿਨਤਾ ਮਯਿ - hard heartedness in me; ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਕਾਤਰੇ - (who is) afraid of losing your love; ਮਯਿ ਤੁ - in me indeed; ਚੇਤਸਃ ਵਃ- - your minds; ਅਨੁਵ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤ੍ਤਯੇ - may continuously be fixed; ਕ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਤਮ੍-ਇਦਮ੍ - this was done; ਮਯਾ-ਇਤਿ- - by me thus; ਉਚਿਵਾਨ੍ - said; ਭਵਾਨ੍ - Thou;
Translation
Thou told them, 'O dear girls! Do not at all suspect me to be hard hearted. I am afraid of losing your love. I did this (the disappearing) so that your minds may be continuously fixed in me.'
ਸ਼੍ਲੋਕਃ
ਅਯਿ ਨਿਸ਼ਮ੍ਯਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਵਲ੍ਲਭਾਃ ਪ੍ਰਿਯਤਮੋ ਜਨੋ ਨੇਦ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਸ਼ੋ ਮਮ ।
ਤਦਿਹ ਰਮ੍ਯਤਾਂ ਰਮ੍ਯਯਾਮਿਨੀਸ਼੍ਵਨੁਪਰੋਧਮਿਤ੍ਯਾਲਪੋ ਵਿਭੋ ॥9॥
Meaning
ਅਯਿ ਨਿਸ਼ਮ੍ਯਤਾਂ - Oh please listen; ਜੀਵਵਲ੍ਲਭਾਃ - most dear ones; ਪ੍ਰਿਯਤਮਃ ਜਨਃ - more dear person; ਨ-ਈਦ੍ਰੁਰੁਇਸ਼ਃ ਮਮ - is not than this (you) mine (for me); ਤਤ੍-ਇਹ ਰਮ੍ਯਤਾਂ - therefore here sport; ਰਮ੍ਯ-ਯਾਮਿਨੀਸ਼ੁ- - in the beautiful nights; ਅਨੁਪਰੋਧਮ੍- - without hindrance; ਇਤਿ-ਆਲਪਃ - thus said Thou; ਵਿਭੋ - O Lord!;
Translation
O most dear Ones! Please listen to me. Take it from me that there is none as dear to me as you. Therefore here on the banks of Yamunaa in the beautiful nights sport with me without any hindrance.' Thus, O Lord! Thou told them.

ਇਤਿ ਗਿਰਾਧਿਕਂ ਮੋਦਮੇਦੁਰੈਰ੍ਵ੍ਰਜਵਧੂਜਨੈਃ ਸਾਕਮਾਰਮਨ੍ ।
ਕਲਿਤਕੌਤੁਕੋ ਰਾਸਖੇਲਨੇ ਗੁਰੁਪੁਰੀਪਤੇ ਪਾਹਿ ਮਾਂ ਗਦਾਤ੍ ॥10॥
Meaning
ਇਤਿ ਗਿਰਾ- - thus by such declaration; ਅਧਿਕਂ - even more; ਮੋਦ-ਮੇਦੁਰੈਃ- - filled with intense joy; ਵ੍ਰਜ-ਵਧੂਜਨੈਃ - the Gopikaas of Vraja; ਸਾਕਮ੍-ਆਰਮਨ੍ - with them sporting; ਕਲਿਤ-ਕੌਤੁਕਃ - full of enthusiasm; ਰਾਸ-ਖੇਲਨੇ - engaged in Raasa-leelaa; ਗੁਰੁਪੁਰੀਪਤੇ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; ਪਾਹਿ ਮਾਂ ਗਦਾਤ੍ - save me from ailments;
Translation
Thus with such declaration the Gopikaas were even more full of intense joy. Thou then, sporting with them, full of enthusiasm engaged in Raasaleelaa. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Save me from ailments.
