અયિ સબલ મુરારે પાણિજાનુપ્રચારૈઃ

Meaning
અયિ સબલ મુરારે - O Thou! Along with Balaraam, O Muraari!; પાણિ-જાનુ-પ્રચારૈઃ - on hands and knees moving; કિમ્-અપિ - where not also; ભવન-ભાગાન્ - in the various parts of the house; ભૂષયંતૌ ભવંતૌ - adorning, the two of Thou; ચલિત-ચરણ-કંજૌ - moving Thy two lotus feet; મંજુ-મંજીર-શિંજા - the pleasing anklet tinkling (sound); શ્રવણ-કુતુક-ભાજૌ - eager to hear, the two of Thou; ચેરતુઃ-ચારુ-વેગાત્ - moved about charmingly fast;
Translation
O Lord Muraari! Thou and Thy brother Balaraam soon moved about on Thy hands and knees. When Thou moved about, Thou looked so beautiful that it was like your movements adorned the various parts of the house. With Thy movements, Thy ankle trinkets tinkled pleasingly, and so to increase the pleasing sound Thou charmingly moved about with more briskness.

મૃદુ મૃદુ વિહસંતાવુન્મિષદ્દંતવંતૌ
વદનપતિતકેશૌ દૃશ્યપાદાબ્જદેશૌ ।
ભુજગલિતકરાંતવ્યાલગત્કંકણાંકૌ
મતિમહરતમુચ્ચૈઃ પશ્યતાં વિશ્વનૃણામ્ ॥2॥
Meaning
મૃદુ મૃદુ વિહસંતૌ- - very gently smiling; ઉન્મિષત્-દંતવંતૌ - (thereby) revealing the teeth; વદન-પતિત-કેશૌ - with hair falling on the face; દૃશ્ય-પાદાબ્જ-દેશૌ - with the lovely sight of the lotus feet; ભુજ-ગલિત-કર-અંત- - from the arms, slipped down to the hands' end; વ્યાલ-ગત્-કંકણ-અંકૌ - and marked by the bracelets; મતિમ્-અહરતમ્-ઉચ્ચૈઃ - the minds intensely captivating; પશ્યતાં વિશ્વનૃણામ્ - of the onlookers (and) of all the people of the world;
Translation
Thy very gentle smile revealed the newly cut teeth. Thy lustrous locks of hair streamed around Thy face. It was a lovely sight to look at Thy lotus feet, and Thy arms, with armlets having slipped down to the wrists which were marked with bracelets. Thou and Thy brother intensely captivated the minds of all the onlookers and also of all the people of the world.

અનુસરતિ જનૌઘે કૌતુકવ્યાકુલાક્ષે
કિમપિ કૃતનિનાદં વ્યાહસંતૌ દ્રવંતૌ ।
વલિતવદનપદ્મં પૃષ્ઠતો દત્તદૃષ્ટી
કિમિવ ન વિદધાથે કૌતુકં વાસુદેવ ॥3॥
Meaning
અનુસરતિ જનૌઘે - being followed by all the people; કૌતુક-વ્યાકુલ-આક્ષે - with extremely eager eyes (set on Thee); કિમ્-અપિ - some sort of; કૃત-નિનાદમ્ - sound (the two of Thou) made; વ્યાહસંતૌ દ્રવંતૌ - (then) laughed (then) started running; વલિત-વદન-પદ્મમ્ - (then) turning (Thy) lotus face; પૃષ્ઠતઃ દ્ત્ત-દૃષ્ટી - casting a look behind; કિમ્-ઇવ ન - what also did not; વિદધાથે કૌતુકમ્ - (Thou) cause joyful excitements; વાસુદેવ - O Vaasudeva!;
Translation
O Vaasudeva! All the people followed Thee with their eager affectionate eyes set on Thee. As the two of Thou ran, Thou made some screaming sounds, then laughed and ran as Thou turned Thy lotus like faces casting a look at the people behind. What incredible joyful excitement Thou caused when Thou did so!

દ્રુતગતિષુ પતંતાવુત્થિતૌ લિપ્તપંકૌ
દિવિ મુનિભિરપંકૈઃ સસ્મિતં વંદ્યમાનૌ ।
દ્રુતમથ જનનીભ્યાં સાનુકંપં ગૃહીતૌ
મુહુરપિ પરિરબ્ધૌ દ્રાગ્યુવાં ચુંબિતૌ ચ ॥4॥
Meaning
દ્રુતગતિષુ - in moving fast; પતંતૌ-ઉત્થિતૌ - falling down, then getting up; લિપ્ત-પંકૌ - smeared (stained) with dust (mud); દિવિ - in the heavens; મુનિભિઃ-અપંકૈઃ - by the taintless sages; સસ્મિતં વંદ્યમાનૌ - with a smile (watching the two of Thou) being saluted; દ્રુતમ્-અથ - quickly then; જનનીભ્યાં સાનુકંપં - by the two mothers with great care; ગૃહીતૌ - being picked up; મુહુઃઅપિ પરિરબ્ધૌ - and again and again were embraced; દ્રાક્-યુવાં ચુંબિતૌ ચ - soon Thou two were kissed also;
Translation
As Thou two moved fast, Thou fell and got up and were smeared and tainted by mud. The taintless sages in heaven, saw these pranks and smiled at Thee and saluted Thee worshipfully. Then Thou two would be with great care quickly picked up by the two mothers and would be embraced and kissed again and again.

સ્નુતકુચભરમંકે ધારયંતી ભવંતં
તરલમતિ યશોદા સ્તન્યદા ધન્યધન્યા ।
કપટપશુપ મધ્યે મુગ્ધહાસાંકુરં તે
દશનમુકુલહૃદ્યં વીક્ષ્ય વક્ત્રં જહર્ષ ॥5॥
Meaning
સ્નુત-સ્નુત-કુચભરમ્- - with overflowing and full breasts; અંકે ધારયંતી ભવંતં - in the lap holding Thee; તરલમતિ યશોદા - tender hearted Yashodaa; સ્તન્યદા ધન્યધન્યા - breast feeding (Thee) was extremely fortunate; કપટ-પશુપ મધ્યે - O Thou! The seeming cowherd boy! In the middle; મુગ્ધ-હાસ-અંકુરં - the bewitching smile sprouting; તે દશન-મુકુલ-હૃદ્યં - Thy teeth buds-like charming; વીક્ષ્ય વક્ત્રં જહર્ષ - seeing (Thy) face was filled with delight;
Translation
The tender hearted Yashodaa with overflowing and full breasts, held Thee in her lap and fed Thee. How extremely fortunate and blessed she was as she did so. O Thou! The seeming cowherd boy! In between the feeding Thou smiled bewitchingly, revealing the charming jasmine buds like teeth, and seeing Thy face she was filled with delight.

તદનુચરણચારી દારકૈસ્સાકમારા-
ન્નિલયતતિષુ ખેલન્ બાલચાપલ્યશાલી ।
ભવનશુકવિડાલાન્ વત્સકાંશ્ચાનુધાવન્
કથમપિ કૃતહાસૈર્ગોપકૈર્વારિતોઽભૂઃ ॥6॥
Meaning
તદનુ-ચરણ-ચારી - next (when Thou started) on feet walking about; દારકૈઃ-સાકમ્- - with the other boys; આરાત્-નિલયતતિષુ - in the nearby houses and compounds; ખેલન્ - playing; બાલ-ચાપલ્ય-શાલી - (with) the natural childish restlessness; ભવન-શુક-વિડાલાન્ - the domestic parrots and cats; વત્સકાન્-ચ- - and the calves; અનુધાવન્ કથમ્-અપિ - chasing somehow; કૃત-હાસૈઃ-ગોપકૈઃ- - by the gopaas who were laughing; વારિતઃ-અભૂઃ - (Thou) were restrained;
Translation
Next, as Thou started to walk about, Thou played with the other boys in the neighbouring houses and compounds with the natural childlike restlessness. The Gopaas witnessed with joyful laughter as Thou also chased the pet parrots, cats and calves of the household and they somehow restrained Thee from doing so.

હલધરસહિતસ્ત્વં યત્ર યત્રોપયાતો
વિવશપતિતનેત્રાસ્તત્ર તત્રૈવ ગોપ્યઃ ।

Meaning
હલધર-સહિતઃ-ત્વં - along with Haladhara (Balaraam), Thou; યત્ર યત્ર-ઉપયાતઃ - where-ever went; વિવશ-પતિત-નેત્રાઃ- - with helpless (spell bound) watching; તત્ર તત્ર-એવ ગોપ્યઃ - there there the Gopis; વિગલિત-ગૃહ-કૃત્યા - neglecting their household duties; વિસ્મૃત-અપત્ય-ભૃત્યા - forgetting their children and servants; મુરહર - O Slayer of Mura!; મુહુઃ-અત્યંત- - again and again, very much; આકુલા નિત્યમ્-આસન્ - excited always were;
Translation
Where so ever that Thou went with Thy elder brother Haldhar, the Gopis helplessly and spell bound kept watching Thee. They even neglected their household chores and forgot all about their children and servants. O Slayer of Mura! They were always so very much excited as this happened again and again.

પ્રતિનવનવનીતં ગોપિકાદત્તમિચ્છન્
કલપદમુપગાયન્ કોમલં ક્વાપિ નૃત્યન્ ।
સદયયુવતિલોકૈરર્પિતં સર્પિરશ્નન્
ક્વચન નવવિપક્વં દુગ્ધમપ્યાપિબસ્ત્વમ્ ॥8॥
Meaning
પ્રતિનવ-નવનીતં - fresh butter; ગોપિકા-દત્તમ્- - by the Gopikas given; ઇચ્છન્ કલપદમ્- - desiring sweet songs; ઉપગાયન્ - singing; કોમલં ક્વ-અપિ - charmingly sometimes; નૃત્યન્ - dancing; સદય-યુવતિ-લોકૈઃ - by the affectionate young women folk; અર્પિતં સર્પિઃ-અશ્નન્ - offered butter, eating; ક્વચન નવ- વિપક્વં - sometimes freshly boiled; દુગ્ધમ્-અપિ- - milk also; અપિબઃ-ત્વમ્ - drank Thou;
Translation
Thou would sweetly sing and sometimes charmingly dance about with the desire of getting fresh butter. The young women full of affection gave Thee butter which Thou ate and also gave freshly boiled milk which Thou drank with delight.

મમ ખલુ બલિગેહે યાચનં જાતમાસ્તા-
મિહ પુનરબલાનામગ્રતો નૈવ કુર્વે ।
ઇતિ વિહિતમતિઃ કિં દેવ સંત્યજ્ય યાચ્ઞાં
દધિઘૃતમહરસ્ત્વં ચારુણા ચોરણેન ॥9॥
Meaning
મમ ખલુ બલિ-ગેહે - indeed my, in the house of Mahaabali; યાચનં જાતમ્-આસ્તામ્ - begging was done, let that be; ઇહ પુનઃ- - here, again; અબલાનામ્-અગ્રતઃ - in front of the ladies; ન-એવ કુર્વે - I will not do so; ઇતિ વિહિત-મતિઃ - thus deciding; કિં દેવ - did Thou O Lord!; સંત્યજ્ય યચ્ઞાં - giving up begging; દધિ-ઘૃતમ્- - curd ghee etc; અહરઃ-ત્વં - took Thou; ચારુણા ચોરણેન - by pleasant stealing;
Translation
In the house of Mahaabali I had to go begging. Let that be. Here now in front of these ladies I am not going to do so again.' O Lord! Thus deciding Thou gave up begging for curd and ghee etc and resorted to pleasantly stealing in clever delightful ways.

તવ દધિઘૃતમોષે ઘોષયોષાજનાના-
મભજત હૃદિ રોષો નાવકાશં ન શોકઃ ।
હૃદયમપિ મુષિત્વા હર્ષસિંધૌ ન્યધાસ્ત્વં
સ મમ શમય રોગાન્ વાતગેહાધિનાથ ॥10॥
Meaning
તવ દધિ-ઘૃતમ્-ઓષે - Thy, in the curd and ghee stealing; ઘોષ-યોષા-જનાનામ્- - in the cowherds' colony's women folk; અભજત હૃદિ રોષઃ - did not entertain in their hearts, anger; ન-અવકાશં ન શોકઃ - neither dearth nor sorrow; હૃદયમ્-અપિ મુષિત્વા - (their) hearts also stealing; હર્ષ-સિંધૌ - in the ocean of bliss; ન્યધાઃ-ત્વં - put them in, Thou; સ - That Thou; મમ શમય રોગાન્ - my eradicate ailments; વાતગેહાધિનાથ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!;
Translation
In the cowherds' colony the Gopikas did not have place in their hearts for either anger or sorrow by Thy stealing of butter and ghee etc. They did not even feel any dearth for its being stolen. It was because Thou also stole their hearts and immersed them in the ocean of Bliss. Such Thou O Lord of Guruvaayur! May Thou eradicate my ailments.

શાખા-અગ્રે-અથ - (at) the branches's front (end) then; વિધું વિલોક્ય - the moon seeing; ફલમ્-ઇતિ-અંબામ્ - fruit it is, (to) mother; ચ તાતં મુહુઃ - and to father again and again; સંપ્રાર્થ્ય-અથ - requesting, then; તદા તદીય-વચસા - at that time, by his (father's)saying; પ્રોક્ષિપ્ત-બાહૌ ત્વયિ - were flung up the two arms by Thee; ચિત્રમ્ - amazing; દેવ શશી સ - deity moon that; તે કરમ્-અગાત્ - in Thy hands came; કિં બ્રૂમહે સંપતઃ - what do we say of (Thy) lordliness; જ્યોતિઃ-મંડલ- - the luminous aura; પૂરિત-અખિલ-વપુઃ - covering the whole body; પ્રાગા વિરાટ-રૂપમ્ - attained cosmic form;
Translation
On the front end of the branch of a tree, watching the moon, Thou asked Thy mother and father again and again for it, saying that it was a fruit. At that time, then, going by Thy father's words, when Thou flung Thy two arms,amazingly, the deity moon came into Thy hands! What can we say of Thy splendorous lordliness? Thy whole body was covered by luminous light and Thou attained Thy cosmic form!

કિં કિં બતેદમિતિ સંભ્રમ ભાજમેનં
બ્રહ્માર્ણવે ક્ષણમમું પરિમજ્જ્ય તાતમ્ ।

કિં કિં બત- - what what, indeed; ઇદમ્-ઇતિ સંભ્રમ્ - this (is) thus confusion; ભાજમ્-એનમ્ - contained him (father); બ્રહ્મ-અર્ણવે - in the cosmic ocean; ક્ષણમ્-અમુમ્ - for a moment him; પરિમજ્જ્ય તાતમ્ - immersing father; માયાં પુનઃ-તનય- - the Maayaa again, of son's; મોહમયીં વિતન્વન્ - enchanting, drawing; આનંદ-ચિન્મય - bliss, supreme consciousness; જગન્મય - O Universal form!; પાહિ રોગાત્ - save from disease;
Translation
'What is all this! indeed!' thus Thy father was a vessel of amazement. Thou immersed him in the cosmic ocean for a moment, then again extended Thy Maayaa, and Thou brought about Thy enchanting form of a son. That, Bliss incarnate,Supreme Consciousness, Cosmic form, O Krishna! save me from disease!
