આલોક્ય શૈલોદ્ધરણાદિરૂપં પ્રભાવમુચ્ચૈસ્તવ ગોપલોકાઃ ।
વિશ્વેશ્વરં ત્વામભિમત્ય વિશ્વે નંદં ભવજ્જાતકમન્વપૃચ્છન્ ॥1॥
Meaning
આલોક્ય - seeing; શૈલ-ઉદ્ધરણ- - the lifting of the mountain; આદિ-રૂપં - and other feats (of Thee); પ્રભાવમ્-ઉચ્ચૈઃ- - the great powers; તવ - of Thee; ગોપ-લોકાઃ - the cowherds,; વિશ્વેશ્વરં - the Lord of the Universe; ત્વામ્-અભિમત્ય - Thee considering; વિશ્વે નંદં - all of them to Nanda; ભવત્-જાતકમ્- - Thy horoscope; અન્વપૃચ્છન્ - asked again and again;
Translation
The Gopaalakas witnessed Thy tremendous feats such as the lifting of the mountain and Thy great powers. They considered Thee to be the Lord of the Universe. All of them asked Nanda again and again about Thy horoscope.
શ્લોકઃ
ગર્ગોદિતો નિર્ગદિતો નિજાય વર્ગાય તાતેન તવ પ્રભાવઃ ।
પૂર્વાધિકસ્ત્વય્યનુરાગ એષામૈધિષ્ટ તાવત્ બહુમાનભારઃ ॥2॥
Meaning
ગર્ગ-ઉદિતઃ - as Garg Muni had said; નિર્ગદિતઃ - was told; નિજાય વર્ગાય - for his own clansmen; તાતેન તવ પ્રભાવઃ - by Thy father, Thy greatness; પૂર્વાધિકઃ - more than before; ત્વયિ-અનુરાગ - in Thee love; એષામ્-ઐધિષ્ટ - for these (people) increased; તાવત્ બહુમાનભારઃ - thereafter, also great respect;
Translation
Thy father told his clansmen of what sage Garg had prophesied about Thy greatness. Thence forward their love and also great respect for Thee increased much more than before.
શ્લોકઃ
તતોઽવમાનોદિતતત્ત્વબોધઃ સુરાધિરાજઃ સહ દિવ્યગવ્યા।
ઉપેત્ય તુષ્ટાવ સ નષ્ટગર્વઃ સ્પૃષ્ટ્વા પદાબ્જં મણિમૌલિના તે ॥3॥
Meaning
તતઃ-અવમાન-ઉદિત- - then by disgrace caused; તત્ત્વ-બોધઃ - truth realising; સુરાધિરાજઃ - the lord of the gods, Indra; સહ દિવ્ય-ગવ્યા - with the celestial cow (Kaamadhenu); ઉપેત્ય તુષ્ટાવ - coming (to Thee) praised; સ નષ્ટગર્વઃ - he whose pride was shattered; સ્પૃષ્ટ્વા પદાબ્જં - touching Thy lotus feet; મણિમૌલિના - (by his) bejewelled crown; તે - Thy (feet);
Translation
Then as a result of being disgraced his pride was shattered and the lord of the gods, Indra realised the truth about Thee. He came to Thee with the divine cow Kaamadhenu, and sang Thy praises. He touched Thy lotus feet with his bejewelled crowned head.
શ્લોકઃ
સ્નેહસ્નુતૈસ્ત્વાં સુરભિઃ પયોભિર્ગોવિંદનામાંકિતમભ્યષિંચત્ ।
ઐરાવતોપાહૃતદિવ્યગંગાપાથોભિરિંદ્રોઽપિ ચ જાતહર્ષઃ ॥4॥
Meaning
સ્નેહ-સ્નુતૈઃ- - with love overflowing (as milk); ત્વાં સુરભિઃ પયોભિઃ- - Thee, Surabhi (Kaamadhenu) with milk; ગોવિંદ-નામ- - (Thee) with the name Govind; અંકિતમ્-અભ્યષિંચત્ - marked and anointed; ઐરાવત-ઉપાહૃત- - (and) by Airaavata brought; દિવ્ય-ગંગા- - with the celestial Ganges; પાથોભિઃ-ઇંદ્રઃ-અપિ - waters Indra also; ચ (અભિષિંચત્) - and (anointed) (Thee); જાત-હર્ષઃ - delightfully;
Translation
The divine cow Kaamadhenu anointed Thee with her milk overflowing with love for Thee and so Thou were named 'Govinda', the Lord of cows. Airaavata the elephant of Indra brought the waters of the celestial Ganges and Indra also anointed Thee with it delightfully.
શ્લોકઃ
જગત્ત્રયેશે ત્વયિ ગોકુલેશે તથાઽભિષિક્તે સતિ ગોપવાટઃ ।
નાકેઽપિ વૈકુંઠપદેઽપ્યલભ્યાં શ્રિયં પ્રપેદે ભવતઃ પ્રભાવાત્ ॥5॥
Meaning
જગત્ત્રય-ઈશે - O Lord of the three Worlds; ત્વયિ ગોકુલેશે - (when) Thou as the Lord of Gokula; તથા-અભિષિક્તે સતિ - thus were anointed; ગોપવાટઃ - Gokula,; નાકે-અપિ - in heaven also; વૈકુંઠપદે-અપિ- - in Vaikuntha also; અલભ્યાં શ્રિયં - unattainable, (such) prosperity; પ્રપેદે ભવતઃ પ્રભાવાત્ - attained by Thy grace;
Translation
O Lord of the three worlds! Thou were anointed as the Lord of Gokula. By Thy grace and glory, Gokula attained a prosperity unknown and unheard of in either the heavens or even in Vaikuntha.
શ્લોકઃ
કદાચિદંતર્યમુનં પ્રભાતે સ્નાયન્ પિતા વારુણપૂરુષેણ ।
નીતસ્તમાનેતુમગાઃ પુરીં ત્વં તાં વારુણીં કારણમર્ત્યરૂપઃ ॥6॥
Meaning
કદાચિત્- - once; અંતર્-યમુનં - in the river Yamunaa; પ્રભાતે સ્નાયન્ પિતા - very early in the morning bathing, (Thy) father; વારુણ-પૂરુષેણ - by Varuna's emissary; નીતઃ-તમ્-આનેતુમ્- - was taken away, him to bring back; અગાઃ પુરીં - (Thou) went to the city; ત્વં તાં વારુણીં - Thou ,of Varuna; કારણ-મર્ત્ય-રૂપઃ - (to fulfill the) purpose of human form;
Translation
Once very early in the morning, Thy father was bathing in the river Yamunaa. He was taken away by the emissary of Varuna. To bring him back and also to fulfill the purpose of Thy taking human form, Thou went to the city of Varuna .
શ્લોકઃ
સસંભ્રમં તેન જલાધિપેન પ્રપૂજિતસ્ત્વં પ્રતિગૃહ્ય તાતમ્ ।
ઉપાગતસ્તત્ક્ષણમાત્મગેહં પિતાઽવદત્તચ્ચરિતં નિજેભ્યઃ ॥7॥
Meaning
સસંભ્રમં - with great surprise; તેન જલાધિપેન - by him, the Lord of the waters; પ્રપૂજિતઃ-ત્વં - was well worshipped Thou; પ્રતિગૃહ્ય તાતમ્ - taking (Thy) father; ઉપાગતઃ- - returned; તત્-ક્ષણમ્- - at once; આત્મ-ગેહં - to Thy own house; પિતા-અવદત્- - father said; તત્-ચરિતં - that incident; નિજેભ્યઃ - to his clansmen;
Translation
The Lord of the waters, Varuna, was taken by surprise at Thy unexpected appearance. Thou were well worshipped by him. Thou immediately returned home with Thy father. Thy father, Nanda, later narrated this incident to his clansmen.
શ્લોકઃ
હરિં વિનિશ્ચિત્ય ભવંતમેતાન્ ભવત્પદાલોકનબદ્ધતૃષ્ણાન્ ॥
નિરીક્ષ્ય વિષ્ણો પરમં પદં તદ્દુરાપમન્યૈસ્ત્વમદીદૃશસ્તાન્ ॥8॥
Meaning
હરિં વિનિશ્ચિત્ય - as Hari knowing with certainty; ભવંતમ્-એતાન્ - Thee, to them; ભવત્-પદ-આલોકન- - Thy state (of bliss) to see; બદ્ધ-તૃષ્ણાન્ - tied by (such a) thirst; નિરીક્ષ્ય વિષ્ણો - seeing, O All pervading Lord!; પરમં પદં તત્- - supreme state that; દુરાપમ્-અન્યૈઃ- - not easily attainable by others; ત્વમ્-અદીદૃશઃ-તાન્ - Thou showed to them;
Translation
The Gopas were convinced that Thou were definitely Hari Himself. O All pervading Lord! They were tied with the intense thirst of having a direct experience of Thy Supreme State. Thou showed them that state which is not attainable to men without devotion.
શ્લોકઃ
સ્ફુરત્પરાનંદરસપ્રવાહપ્રપૂર્ણકૈવલ્યમહાપયોધૌ ।
ચિરં નિમગ્નાઃ ખલુ ગોપસંઘાસ્ત્વયૈવ ભૂમન્ પુનરુદ્ધૃતાસ્તે ॥9॥
Meaning
સ્ફુરત્- - shining; પરાનંદરસ- - (with) supreme bliss nectar; પ્રવાહ-પ્રપૂર્ણ- - flow, full of it; કૈવલ્ય-મહાપયોધૌ - (in the) liberation's great ocean; ચિરં નિમગ્નાઃ - for long immersed; ખલુ ગોપસંઘાઃ- - indeed the Gopas; ત્વયા-એવ ભૂમન્ - by Thee only, O Infinite One!; પુનઃ-ઉદ્ધૃતાઃ-તે - again were taken out, they;
Translation
The great ocean of liberation was full and overflowing and lustrous with the supreme blissful nectar. The groups of Gopas were indeed immersed in it for long. O Infinite One! By Thee alone they were drawn back to their worldly state of consciousness.
શ્લોકઃ
કરબદરવદેવં દેવ કુત્રાવતારે
નિજપદમનવાપ્યં દર્શિતં ભક્તિભાજામ્ ।
તદિહ પશુપરૂપી ત્વં હિ સાક્ષાત્ પરાત્મા
પવનપુરનિવાસિન્ પાહિ મામામયેભ્યઃ ॥10॥
Meaning
કર-બદર-વત્-એવં - in hand a berry like thus; દેવ કુત્ર-અવતારે - O Lord! In which incarnation; નિજ-પદમ્-અનવાપ્યમ્ - Thy own abode (which is) unattainable; દર્શિતં ભક્તિભાજામ્ - is shown to the devotees; તત્-ઇહ પશુપરૂપી - so here, in the cowherd form; ત્વં હિ સાક્ષાત્ - Thou indeed, in reality are; પરાત્મા - Supreme Lord!; પવનપુરનિવાસિન્ - O Dweller of Guruvaayura!; પાહિ મામ્- - save me; આમયેભ્યઃ - from ailments;
Translation
O Lord! Thy unattainable abode was revealed to the devotees with such ease and clearly as a berry in one's palm. In which other incarnation of Thee has such a thing happened? So, it is certain that here in the form of a cowherd, Thou are the Supreme Self. O Dweller of Guruvaayur! save me from ailments.
