ઉદ્ગચ્છતસ્તવ કરાદમૃતં હરત્સુ
દૈત્યેષુ તાનશરણાનનુનીય દેવાન્ ।
સદ્યસ્તિરોદધિથ દેવ ભવત્પ્રભાવા-
દુદ્યત્સ્વયૂથ્યકલહા દિતિજા બભૂવુઃ ॥1॥
Meaning
ઉદ્ગચ્છતઃ-તવ - from Thy (hands) when emerging from the ocean; કરાત્-અમૃતં હરત્સુ - from the hands, snatching the nectar; દૈત્યેષુ - the Asuras,; તાન્-અશરણાન્-અનુનીય દેવાન્ - to those helpless Devas giving solace; સદ્યઃ-તિરોદધિથ દેવ - immediately Thou disappeared O Lord!; ભવત્-પ્રભાવાત્- - (and) by Thy prompting; ઉદ્યત્-સ્વ-યૂથ્ય-કલહા - (there) arose among their own group of (the Asuras) a quarrel; દિતિજા બભૂવુઃ - the Asuras became thus;
Translation
Thou emerged from the ocean as Dhanvantari holding the pot of nectar which the Asuras snatched from Thy hands. The devas became helpless. After consoling them, Thou immediately disappeared. O Lord! Then prompted by Thy Maayaa the Asuras started to quarrel amongst themselves.

શ્યામાં રુચાઽપિ વયસાઽપિ તનું તદાનીં
પ્રાપ્તોઽસિ તુંગકુચમંડલભંગુરાં ત્વમ્ ।
પીયૂષકુંભકલહં પરિમુચ્ય સર્વે
તૃષ્ણાકુલાઃ પ્રતિયયુસ્ત્વદુરોજકુંભે ॥2॥
Meaning
શ્યામાં - beautiful and youthful; રુચા-અપિ વયસા-અપિ - by complexion and by age; તનું તદાનીં પ્રાપ્તઃ-અસિ - (Thou) took the form then; તુંગ-કુચ-મંડલ-ભંગુરાં - due to the weight of the high breasts which was bent; ત્વમ્ - Thee; પીયૂષ-કુંભ-કલહમ્ - for the nectar pot the fight; પરિમુચ્ય સર્વે - abandoning everyone; તૃષ્ણા-આકુલાઃ - thirsting (infatuated); પ્રતિયયુઃ- - approached; ત્વત્-ઉરોજ-કુંભે - Thy pot-like breasts;
Translation
Thou then took the form of a beautiful young maiden - beautiful by complexion, young by age, whose frame was bent due to the weight of her high heavy breasts. All the Asuras abandoned their quarrel about the pot of nectar, and thirstily approached Thee infatuated by the sight of Thy pot-like breasts.

કા ત્વં મૃગાક્ષિ વિભજસ્વ સુધામિમામિ-
ત્યારૂઢરાગવિવશાનભિયાચતોઽમૂન્ ।
વિશ્વસ્યતે મયિ કથં કુલટાઽસ્મિ દૈત્યા
ઇત્યાલપન્નપિ સુવિશ્વસિતાનતાનીઃ ॥3॥
Meaning
કા ત્વં મૃગાક્ષિ - Who are you, O doe-eyed one?; વિભજસ્વ સુધામ્-ઇમામ્- - distribute this nectar'; ઇતિ-આરૂઢ-રાગ-વિવશાન્- - thus, helpless and overcome with passion; અભિયાચિતઃ-અમૂન્ - they begged thus to her; વિશ્વસ્યતે મયિ કથં - trust me, how can you?; કુલટા-અસ્મિ દૈત્યા - I am a whore, O Asuras!'; ઇતિ-આલપન્-અપિ - even when saying thus,; સુવિશ્વસિતાન્-અતાનીઃ - Thou made them trust Thee;
Translation
O doe-eyed lady, who are you? Distribute this nectar', entreated the Asuras, helplessly being overcome by passion. 'How do you trust me? O Asuras, as I am a whore.' Even though Thou said so, Thou commanded their trust.

મોદાત્ સુધાકલશમેષુ દદત્સુ સા ત્વં
દુશ્ચેષ્ટિતં મમ સહધ્વમિતિ બ્રુવાણા ।
પંક્તિપ્રભેદવિનિવેશિતદેવદૈત્યા
લીલાવિલાસગતિભિઃ સમદાઃ સુધાં તામ્ ॥4॥
Meaning
મોદાત્ સુધા-કલશમ્- - with joy when the nectar pot; એષુ દદત્સુ - was given by them; સા ત્વં - Thee (in the form of) her (Mohini); દુશ્ચેષ્ટિતં મમ સહધ્વમ્- - (please) bear with my wrong deeds; ઇતિ બ્રુવાણા - saying so; પંક્તિ-પ્રભેદ- - in separated rows; વિનિવેશિત-દેવ-દૈત્યા - were made to sit the Devas and The Asuras; લીલા-વિલાસ-ગતિભિઃ - with sportive and charming gait; સમદાઃ સુધા તામ્ - distributed that nectar;
Translation
Readily and joyfully the pot of nectar was handed over to Thee, as Mohini. Asking them to bear with Thee, Thy wrong deed, Thou made the Devas and Asuras sit in separate rows. Holding the Asuras infatuated and spellbound by the charming and sportive gait, Thou served the nectar.

અસ્માસ્વિયં પ્રણયિણીત્યસુરેષુ તેષુ
જોષં સ્થિતેષ્વથ સમાપ્ય સુધાં સુરેષુ ।
ત્વં ભક્તલોકવશગો નિજરૂપમેત્ય
સ્વર્ભાનુમર્ધપરિપીતસુધં વ્યલાવીઃ ॥5॥
Meaning
અસ્માસુ-ઇયં પ્રણયિની- - us she is fond of; ઇતિ-અસુરેષુ તેષુ - when the Asuras were (wrongfully contemplating); જોષં સ્થિતેષુ-અથ - and so were waiting silently, then; સમાપ્ય સુધાં સુરેષુ - Thou finished the nectar among the Devas; ત્વં ભક્તલોક-વશગઃ - Thee, who are ever favourable to Thy devotees; નિજ-રૂપમ્-એત્ય - assuming Thy own form (then); સ્વર્ભાનુમ્-અર્ધપીત-સુધં - the Asura Raahu, who had drunk half of the nectar; વ્યલાવીઃ - beheaded;
Translation
When the Asuras were wrongfully contemplating that Thou as Mohini were fond of them, and so were waiting silently, Thou finished the nectar among the Devas, as Thou always favour Thy devotees. Then Thou took Thy own form, and beheaded the Asura Raahu who had drunk half of the nectar served to him which he cunningly got by sitting in the row of the Devas.

ત્વત્તઃ સુધાહરણયોગ્યફલં પરેષુ
દત્વા ગતે ત્વયિ સુરૈઃ ખલુ તે વ્યગૃહ્ણન્ ।
ઘોરેઽથ મૂર્છતિ રણે બલિદૈત્યમાયા-
વ્યામોહિતે સુરગણે ત્વમિહાવિરાસીઃ ॥6॥
Meaning
ત્વત્તઃ સુધા-હરણ- - from Thee for snatching the nectar; યોગ્ય-ફલં પરેષુ દત્વા - and giving them the appropriate result; ગતે ત્વયિ - when Thou had departed; સુરૈઃ ખલુ તે વ્યગૃહ્ણન્ - indeed with the Devas they started a fight; ઘોરે-અથ મૂર્છતિ રણે - in the thick of the battle, when they ( the Devas) fainted; બલિ-દૈત્ય-માયા-વ્યામોહિતે - by the magical arts of the Asura Bali,; સુરગણે - the Devas; ત્વમ્-ઇહ-આવિરાસીઃ - Thee in the midst reappeared;
Translation
Having meted out to the Asuras the punishment for snatching away the pot of nectar from thy hands, Thou departed.The Asuras again started a fight with the devas. In the thick of the fierce battle, the Devas were reduced to a state of swoon by the Asura Bali's magical arts.Thou then reappeared in the battle field.

ત્વં કાલનેમિમથ માલિમુખાંજઘંથ
શક્રો જઘાન બલિજંભવલાન્ સપાકાન્ ।
શુષ્કાર્દ્રદુષ્કરવધે નમુચૌ ચ લૂને
ફેનેન નારદગિરા ન્યરુણો રણં ત્વમ્ ॥7॥
Meaning
ત્વં કાલનેમિમ્- - Thou (killed) Kaalanemi,; અથ માલિમુખાન્-જઘંથ - then (Thou) Maali and others killed; શક્રો જઘાન - Indra killed; બલિ-જંભ-વલાન્ સપાકાન્ - Bali, Jaambvaan, Vaali, Paaka, along with others; શુષ્ક-આર્દ્ર-દુષ્કર-વધે - by dry (solid) or wet (liquid) (weapons) could not be killed; નમુચૌ ચ - and (such a) Naamuchi; લૂને ફેનેન - was destroyed by a (weapon made of ) foam; નારદ-ગિરા - then by the advice of Naarada; ન્યરુણઃ રણં ત્વમ્ - Thou stopped the battle;
Translation
In the battle Thou killed Kaalnemi, Maali and other Asuras. Indra killed Bali, Jaambvaan, Vaali, along with Paakaasura. Naamuchi who could not be killed by either dry or wet weapons was cut off by a weapon made of foam. Thou then stopped the battle on the advice of Naarada.

યોષાવપુર્દનુજમોહનમાહિતં તે
શ્રુત્વા વિલોકનકુતૂહલવાન્ મહેશઃ ।
ભૂતૈસ્સમં ગિરિજયા ચ ગતઃ પદં તે
સ્તુત્વાઽબ્રવીદભિમતં ત્વમથો તિરોધાઃ ॥8॥
Meaning
યોષા-વપુઃ- - the female form; દનુજ-મોહનમ્- - to delude the Asuras; આહિતં તે - assumed by Thee; શ્રુત્વા - hearing about it; વિલોકન-કુતૂહલવાન્ મહેશઃ - to see it, Shiva became eager; ભૂતૈઃ-સમં - with his attendants; ગિરિજયા ચ - and with Umaa; ગતઃ પદં તે - (Shiva) went to Thy abode; સ્તુત્વા-અબ્રવીત્ - praying Thee, he said; અભિમતં - his desire; ત્વમ્-અથ તિરોધાઃ - Thou then disappeared;
Translation
Shiva heard of Thy female form which Thou had taken to delude the Asuras and was eager to see it. He therefore went to Thy abode along with Umaa and the Bhootas. He beseeched Thee with hymns and praises and stated his purpose of visit. Thou then immediately disappeared.

આરામસીમનિ ચ કંદુકઘાતલીલા-
લોલાયમાનનયનાં કમનીં મનોજ્ઞામ્ ।
ત્વામેષ વીક્ષ્ય વિગલદ્વસનાં મનોભૂ-
વેગાદનંગરિપુરંગ સમાલિલિંગ ॥9॥
Meaning
આરામ-સીમનિ - in a portion of the garden; ચ કંદુક-ઘાત-લીલા- - and playing by hitting the ball; લોલાયમાન-નયનાં - with eyes moving about; કમનીં મનોજ્ઞામ્ - a female form which was very captivating; ત્વામ્-એષ વીક્ષ્ય - He (Shiva) seeing Thee; વિગલત્-વસનામ્ - whose clothes were slipping away; મનોભૂ-વેગાત્- - by the force of infatuation; અનંગરિપુઃ- - the conqueror of Kaamdeva (Shiva); અંગ - O Lord!; સમાલિલિંગ - embraced (Thee);
Translation
In the far portion of the garden, Shiva saw Thee in the form of a most beautiful damsel, whose eyes roamed about as she played with a ball. Her robes were slipping down in the course of the movements. The conqueror of Kaamdeva, Shiva, was so overcome by desire that he embraced Thee.

ભૂયોઽપિ વિદ્રુતવતીમુપધાવ્ય દેવો
વીર્યપ્રમોક્ષવિકસત્પરમાર્થબોધઃ ।
ત્વન્માનિતસ્તવ મહત્ત્વમુવાચ દેવ્યૈ
તત્તાદૃશસ્ત્વમવ વાતનિકેતનાથ ॥10॥
Meaning
ભૂયઃ-અપિ - even again; વિદ્રુતવતીમ્-ઉપધાવ્ય - following her who was running away; દેવઃ - Shiva; વીર્ય-પ્રમોક્ષ- - having released his seed; વિકસત્-પરમ્-અર્થ-બોધઃ - gained the knowledge of truth; ત્વત્-માનિતઃ- - honoured by Thee; તવ મહત્ત્વમ્- - Thy greatness; ઉવાચ દેવ્યૈ - he told to Devi (Umaa); તત્-તાદૃશઃ-ત્વમ્- - Thou who are like that; અવ - protect me; વાતનિકેતનાથ - O Lord Of Guruvaayur!;
Translation
Shiva pursued Mohini who was running away. He obtained knowledge of the pure self, only as his seed escaped. After being honoured by Thee, he narrated Thy greatness to Umaa. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Of such greatness, protect me.
