ક્વચિદથ તપનોપરાગકાલે પુરિ નિદધત્ કૃતવર્મકામસૂનૂ ।
યદુકુલમહિલાવૃતઃ સુતીર્થં સમુપગતોઽસિ સમંતપંચકાખ્યમ્ ॥1॥
Meaning
ક્વચિત્-અથ - once then; તપન-ઉપરાગ-કાલે - in the solar eclipse time; પુરિ નિદધત્ - in the city leaving; કૃતવર્મ-કામસૂનૂ - Kritavarma and Aniruddha; યદુકુલ્-મહિલા-આવૃતઃ - the Yadus and their women folk along with; સુતીર્થં સમુપગતઃ-અસિ - to the holy spot (Thou) went; સમંતપંચક-આખ્યમ્ - Samantapanchaka known as;
Translation
Once then during the time of Solar eclipse, leaving behind Kritvarma and Anirudhdha in charge of Dwaarika, Thou went to the holy spot known as Samantapanchaka, along with the Yaadava clan and their womenfolk.
શ્લોકઃ
બહુતરજનતાહિતાય તત્ર ત્વમપિ પુનન્ વિનિમજ્ય તીર્થતોયમ્ ।
દ્વિજગણપરિમુક્તવિત્તરાશિઃ સમમિલથાઃ કુરુપાંડવાદિમિત્રૈઃ ॥2॥
Meaning
બહુતર-જનતા-હિતાય - for the large number of peoples benefit; તત્ર ત્વમ્-અપિ - there Thou also; પુનન્ - sanctifying; વિનિમજ્ય તીર્થ-તોયમ્ - dipping into the holy waters; દ્વિજ-ગણ-પરિમુક્ત- - for the Braahmin groups giving away; વિત્ત-રાશિઃ - money in large quantity; સમમિલથાઃ - (Thou) interacted; કુરુ-પાંડવ-આદિ-મિત્રૈઃ - with the Kauravas and Pandavas and other friends;
Translation
Thou also took a dip in the holy waters and thereby sanctified the waters for the benefit of the large number of people. Thou also gave away money in good amount to the group of the Braahmins. Then Thou interacted with Thy friends the Kauravas and the Paandavas and others.
શ્લોકઃ
તવ ખલુ દયિતાજનૈઃ સમેતા દ્રુપદસુતા ત્વયિ ગાઢભક્તિભારા ।
તદુદિતભવદાહૃતિપ્રકારૈઃ અતિમુમુદે સમમન્યભામિનીભિઃ ॥3॥
Meaning
તવ ખલુ દયિતા-જનૈઃ - Thy indeed with the wives; સમેતા - mixing; દ્રુપદસુતા ત્વયિ - Draupadi in Thee; ગાઢ-ભક્તિ-ભારા - deep devotion carrying; તત્-ઉદિત- - by them said; ભવત્-આહૃતિ-પ્રકારૈઃ - Thy carrying (them) away methods; અતિ-મુમુદે - was very delighted; સમમ્-અન્ય-ભામિનીભિઃ - with other women;
Translation
Draupadi who was deeply devoted to Thee, freely mixed with Thy wives. She was very much delighted when they narrated the various methods by which they were abducted and married by Thee. The other women also enjoyed the narrations.
શ્લોકઃ
તદનુ ચ ભગવન્ નિરીક્ષ્ય ગોપાનતિકુતુકાદુપગમ્ય માનયિત્વા।
ચિરતરવિરહાતુરાંગરેખાઃ પશુપવધૂઃ સરસં ત્વમન્વયાસીઃ ॥4॥
Meaning
તદનુ ચ ભગવન્ - and after that O Lord!; નિરીક્ષ્ય ગોપાન્- - seeing the gopas; અતિ-કુતુકાત્- - with great joy; ઉપગમ્ય માનયિત્વા - approaching and honoring them; ચિરતર-વિરહ-આતુર- - for very long separation (from Thee) suffering; અંગ-રેખાઃ - body frailed; પશુપ-વધૂઃ - the gopikas; સરસં ત્વમ્-અન્વયાસીઃ - joyfully Thee approached;
Translation
After that O Lord! Seeing the gopas Thou approached and honoured them with great joy. The gopikas had become frail in body due to the sorrow of separation from Thee for a very long time. Thou joyfully went to them also.
શ્લોકઃ
સપદિ ચ ભવદીક્ષણોત્સવેન પ્રમુષિતમાનહૃદાં નિતંબિનીનામ્ ।
અતિરસપરિમુક્તકંચુલીકે પરિચયહૃદ્યતરે કુચે ન્યલૈષીઃ ॥5॥
Meaning
સપદિ ચ - and soon; ભવત્-ઈક્ષણ-ઉત્સવેન - Thee seeing celebration; પ્રમુષિત-માન-હૃદામ્ - wiped away the complaints from their hearts; નિતંબિનીનામ્ - of the beautiful women; અતિ-રસ-પરિમુક્ત- - intense love giving away; કંચુલીકે - their bodices; પરિચય-હૃદ્યતરે - in the familiar and very dear; કુચે ન્યલૈષીઃ - breasts (Thou) got absorbed;
Translation
Instantly then, celebrating the joy of Thy sight all complaints from the hearts of the beautiful women were wiped away. With the intense love welled up, their bodices burst open revealing their very dear familiar breasts where Thou got absorbed.
શ્લોકઃ
રિપુજનકલહૈઃ પુનઃ પુનર્મે સમુપગતૈરિયતી વિલંબનાઽભૂત્ ।
ઇતિ કૃતપરિરંભણેત્વયિ દ્રાક્ અતિવિવશા ખલુ રાધિકા નિલિલ્યે ॥6॥
Meaning
રિપુ-જન-કલહૈઃ - enemies in conflict; પુનઃ પુનઃ- - again and again; મે સમુપગતૈઃ- - my, by happening; ઇયતી વિલંબના- - so much delay; અભૂત્ - became; ઇતિ કૃત-પરિરંભણે- - thus making embrace; ત્વયિ દ્રાક્ - by Thee immediately; અતિવિવશા - very overwhelmed; ખલુ રાધિકા - indeed Raadhika; નિલિલ્યે - became absorbed;
Translation
Raadhikaa was totally absorbed in Thee when Thou embraced her and told her that so much delay was caused in meeting her and the gopikas because of frequent clashes with the enemies.
શ્લોકઃ
અપગતવિરહવ્યથાસ્તદા તા રહસિ વિધાય દદાથ તત્ત્વબોધમ્ ।
પરમસુખચિદાત્મકોઽહમાત્મેત્યુદયતુ વઃ સ્ફુટમેવ ચેતસીતિ ॥7॥
Meaning
અપગત-વિરહ-વ્યથાઃ- - (who were) free of the separation pangs; તદા તાઃ - then they (the gopikas); રહસિ વિધાય - privately making; દદાથ તત્ત્વ-બોધમ્ - gave the knowledge of Reality; પરમ-સુખ-ચિત્- - Supreme Bliss Consciousness; આત્મકઃ-અહમ્-આત્મા- - Brahamana am I, the self; ઇતિ-ઉદયતુ વઃ - thus may dawn in you; સ્ફુટમ્-એવ - very clearly only; ચેતસિ-ઇતિ - in your hearts, thus;
Translation
Then the gopikas were rendered free from the pangs of separation as Thou gave them the knowledge of Supreme self privately. Thou instilled into their hearts that Thou were the Supreme Bliss Consciousness and the Supreme Brahaman, their inner most self.
શ્લોકઃ
સુખરસપરિમિશ્રિતો વિયોગઃ કિમપિ પુરાઽભવદુદ્ધવોપદેશૈઃ ।
સમભવદમુતઃ પરં તુ તાસાં પરમસુખૈક્યમયી ભવદ્વિચિંતા ॥8॥
Meaning
સુખ-રસ-પરિમિશ્રિતઃ - with joy mixed; વિયોગઃ કિમ્-અપિ - separation somehow; પુરા-અભવત્- - formerly happened; ઉદ્ધવ-ઉપદેશૈઃ - by Uddhava's preachings; સમભવત્-અમુતઃ - (but) happened by this; પરં તુ તાસામ્ - after (this) indeed to them; પરમ્-સુખ-ઐક્યમયી - Supreme Blissful Union; ભવત્-વિચિંતા - (with Thee by) Thy (mere) thought;
Translation
There remained a feeling of joy mixed with the sorrow of separation when long back the gopikas were advised by Uddhava. But after this instruction by Thee, they indeed were experiencing Supreme Blissful Union with Thee by a mere thought of Thee.
શ્લોકઃ
મુનિવરનિવહૈસ્તવાથ પિત્રા દુરિતશમાય શુભાનિ પૃચ્છ્યમાનૈઃ ।
ત્વયિ સતિ કિમિદં શુભાંતરૈઃ રિત્યુરુહસિતૈરપિ યાજિતસ્તદાઽસૌ ॥9॥
Meaning
મુનિ-વર-નિવહૈઃ- - by the great sages groups; તવ-અથ પિત્રા - Thy then father; દુરિત-શમાય - for son's atonement; શુભાનિ - auspicious rites; પૃચ્છ્યમાનૈઃ - were being asked; ત્વયિ સતિ - Thou being there; કિમ્-ઇદમ્-શુભ-અંતરૈઃ- - what this auspicious rite others; ઇતિ-ઉરુ-હસિતૈઃ-અપિ - thus loudly laughing also; યાજિતઃ-તદા-અસૌ - made to perform sacrifices then he (Vasudeva);
Translation
Vasudeva asked the assembly of the great sages about the auspicious rites to be performed for the atonement for the sins. Even though the sages were very amused and laughed at such an enquiry, because having Thee as a son there was no need for any atonements. But they made him perform the required rites all the same.
શ્લોકઃ
સુમહતિ યજને વિતાયમાને પ્રમુદિતમિત્રજને સહૈવ ગોપાઃ ।
યદુજનમહિતાસ્ત્રિમાસમાત્રં ભવદનુષંગરસં પુરેવ ભેજુ ઃ ॥10॥
Meaning
સુમહતિ યજને - during the very big sacrifice; વિતાયમાને - which was being performed; પ્રમુદિત-મિત્ર-જને - with the delighted friends; સહ-એવ ગોપાઃ - also along with the gopas; યદુ-જન-મહિતાઃ - by the Yaadavas honoured; ત્રિ-માસ-માત્રં - for three months; ભવત્-અનુષંગ-રસં - Thy company's pleasure; પુરા-એવ ભેજુઃ - like the olden times enjoyed;
Translation
The very big sacrifice was performed which lasted for three months. During that time Thy friends and the gopas were honoured by the Yaadavas and they enjoyed Thy company's pleasure like in the olden days.
શ્લોકઃ
વ્યપગમસમયે સમેત્ય રાધાં દૃઢમુપગૂહ્ય નિરીક્ષ્ય વીતખેદામ્ ।
પ્રમુદિતહૃદયઃ પુરં પ્રયાતઃ પવનપુરેશ્વર પાહિ માં ગદેભ્યઃ ॥11॥
Meaning
વ્યપગમ-સમયે - at the departing time; સમેત્ય રાધામ્ - approaching Raadhaa; દૃઢમ્-ઉપગૂહ્ય - tightly embracing; નિરીક્ષ્ય વીત-ખેદામ્ - seeing (her) free from sorrow; પ્રમુદિત-હૃદયઃ - with a happy heart; પુરમ્-પ્રયાતઃ - Thou went back (to Dwaarika); પવનપુરેશ્વર - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; પાહિ માં ગદેભ્યઃ - save me from ailments;
Translation
At the time of departing Thou approached Raadhaa. As Thou held her in a tight embrace Thou were happy to see her free from all sorrow of separation or otherwise. Thou returned to Dwaarikaa with a happy heart. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Save me from all ailments.
