ślōkaḥ
gōpījanāya kathitaṃ niyamāvasānē
mārōtsavaṃ tvamatha sādhayituṃ pravṛttaḥ ।
sāndrēṇa chāndramahasā śiśirīkṛtāśē
prāpūrayō muralikāṃ yamunāvanāntē ॥1॥
Meaning
gōpījanāya - for the Gopikaas; kathitaṃ - said (promised); niyama-avasānē - (when their) vows had ended; māra-utsavaṃ - the love-god festival; tvam-atha - Thou then; sādhayituṃ pravṛttaḥ - to carry out (fulfill) decided; sāndrēṇa chāndramahasā - with bright light of the full moon; śiśirī-kṛta-āśē - and cooled all the directions; prāpūrayaḥ muralikāṃ - (Thou) filled well (played) the flute; yamunā-vana-antē - in the forests on the banks of Yamunaa;
Translation
Thou then decided to carry out the festival of the love god, which Thou had promised to the Gopikaas when their vows had ended. One night, with the bright light of the full moon, when all the directions were cool, in the forest on the banks of the river Yamunaa, Thou resoundingly played the flute.

sammūrChanābhiruditasvaramaṇḍalābhiḥ
sammūrChayantamakhilaṃ bhuvanāntarālam ।
tvadvēṇunādamupakarṇya vibhō taruṇya-
stattādṛśaṃ kamapi chittavimōhamāpuḥ ॥2॥
Meaning
sammūrChanābhiḥ- - by the seven (ascending and descending) notes; udita- - emerging; svaramaṇḍalābhiḥ - in a musical strain; sammūrChayantam- - enchanting; akhilaṃ - everything; bhuvana-antarālam - in the world space; tvat-vēṇu-nādam- - Thy flute resounding; upakarṇya vibhō - hearing (which) O All pervading Lord!; taruṇyaḥ-tat-tādṛśaṃ - the damsels, that compared to that (incomparable); kam-api - some (sort of); chitta-vimōham-āpuḥ - mind captivation attained to;
Translation
O All pervading Lord! In the resounding sound of Thy flute the seven ascending and descending notes emerged in a musical strain and enchanted everything in the world space. Hearing which the damsels attained an unparalleled and incomparable captivating state of their mind.
ślōkaḥ
tā gēhakṛtyaniratāstanayaprasaktāḥ
kāntōpasēvanaparāścha sarōruhākṣyaḥ ।
sarvaṃ visṛjya muralīravamōhitāstē
kāntāradēśamayi kāntatanō samētāḥ ॥3॥
Meaning
tāḥ - they; gēha-kṛtya-niratāḥ- - who were in household duties engaged; tanaya-prasaktāḥ - (or) were their children tending; kānta-upasēvana-parāḥ-cha - and in the husband's service eager; sarōruha-ākṣyaḥ - (they) the lotus eyed damsels; sarvaṃ visṛjya - everything abandoning; muralī-rava- - (by) the flute sound; mōhitāḥ-tē - captivated they (the damsels); kāntāra-dēśam- - to the forest place; ayi kānta-tanō - O Resplendent One!; samētāḥ - came;
Translation
O Resplendent One! The lotus eyed damsels were captivated by the sound of Thy flute. They, who were engaged in the household duties, or were taking care of their children, or were engaged in serving their husbands, abandoned everything and came rushing to the forest place.

kāśchinnijāṅgaparibhūṣaṇamādadhānā
vēṇupraṇādamupakarṇya kṛtārdhabhūṣāḥ ।
tvāmāgatā nanu tathaiva vibhūṣitābhya-
stā ēva saṃruruchirē tava lōchanāya ॥4॥
Meaning
kāśchit- - some (damsels); nija-aṅga- - their own bodies; paribhūṣaṇam- - (with) dress and jewels; ādadhānā - adorning; vēṇu-praṇādam- - the resounding flute sound; upakarṇya - hearing; kṛta-ardha-bhūṣāḥ - having adorned half way only; tvām-āgatāḥ - to Thee came; nanu tathā-ēva - indeed thus only; vibhūṣitābhyaḥ - than those who were fully adorned; tā ēva - they only; saṃruruchirē - were more pleasing; tava lōchanāya - for Thy eyes;
Translation
Some of the damsels were dressing up and adorning their bodies with jewels. As they heard the resounding sound of the flute, they came to Thee having adorned themselves halfway. For Thy eyes they were far more pleasing indeed than those who were fully adorned.

hāraṃ nitambabhuvi kāchana dhārayantī
kāñchīṃ cha kaṇṭhabhuvi dēva samāgatā tvām ।
hāritvamātmajaghanasya mukunda tubhyaṃ
vyaktaṃ babhāṣa iva mugdhamukhī viśēṣāt ॥5॥
Meaning
hāraṃ nitamba-bhuvi - necklace on the hip area; kāchana dhārayantī - someone wearing; kāñchīṃ cha - and the waist band; kaṇṭha-bhuvi - in the neck area; dēva - O Lord!; samāgatā tvām - came to Thee; hāritvam- - the attractiveness; ātma-jaghanasya - of her own hips; mukunda tubhyaṃ - O Mukund for Thee; vyaktaṃ babhāṣa iva - clearly declared as if; mugdhamukhī - the charming faced one; viśēṣāt - in particular;
Translation
O Lord! One woman, in her haste, came to Thee wearing a necklace on the hips and the waist band in the neck area. O Mukund! It was as if the charming faced one clearly indicated to Thee in particular the attractiveness of her own hips.

kāchit kuchē punarasajjitakañchulīkā
vyāmōhataḥ paravadhūbhiralakṣyamāṇā ।
tvāmāyayau nirupamapraṇayātibhāra-
rājyābhiṣēkavidhayē kalaśīdharēva ॥6॥
Meaning
kāchit kuchē - some one ,on her breasts; punaḥ-asajjita- - again not wearing; kañchulīkā - the upper garment; vyāmōhataḥ - because of excitement; paravadhūbhiḥ- - by other women; alakṣyamāṇā - also not noticed; tvām-āyayau - to Thee came; nirupama-praṇaya- - (as if) unparalleled (intense) love; atibhāra- - intense (weighed down by); rājya-abhiṣēka-vidhayē - kingdom coronation celebration; kalaśīdhara-iva - water pitchers as if;
Translation
Some another woman, in her excitement came to Thee not wearing any upper garment on her breasts. She was not noticed in such a state by the other women, who were as excited. It was as if she was weighed down by the unparalleled intense love she carried as water pitchers as breasts for the celebration of Thy coronation in the kingdom of love.

kāśchit gṛhāt kila nirētumapārayantya-
stvāmēva dēva hṛdayē sudṛḍhaṃ vibhāvya ।
dēhaṃ vidhūya parachitsukharūpamēkaṃ
tvāmāviśan paramimā nanu dhanyadhanyāḥ ॥7॥
Meaning
kāśchit gṛhāt - some one from home; kila nirētum- - indeed to come out; apārayantyaḥ - being unable; tvām-ēva dēva - Thee alone O Lord!; hṛdayē sudṛḍhaṃ vibhāvya - in heart firmly meditating; dēhaṃ vidhūya - body giving up; para-chit-sukha- - the Supreme conscious bliss; rūpam-ēkaṃ tvām- - form of non-dual, in Thee; āviśan - merging; param-imāḥ-nanu - very much these (women) indeed; dhanya-dhanyāḥ - (were) most fortunate;
Translation
Some of them were indeed unable to come out from home. O Lord! They meditated on Thee firmly in their hearts. With the result, they gave up their bodies and merged with Thy non dual form and attained the Supreme consciousness bliss. These indeed were the most fortunate ones.

jārātmanā na paramātmatayā smarantyō
nāryō gatāḥ paramahaṃsagatiṃ kṣaṇēna ।
taṃ tvāṃ prakāśaparamātmatanuṃ kathañchi-
chchittē vahannamṛtamaśramamaśnuvīya ॥8॥
Meaning
jārātmanā - by the feeling of paramour; na paramātmatayā - not by the feeling of godliness; smarantyaḥ - thinking of Thee; nāryaḥ gatāḥ - the women attained; paramahaṃsagatiṃ - to the state of liberation; kṣaṇēna taṃ tvāṃ - in a moment, that Thou; prakāśa-paramātma-tanuṃ - resplendent supreme form; kathañchit- - in any manner; chittē vahan- - in the mind holding (meditating); amṛtam- - the state of immortality; aśramam-aśnuvīya - effortlessly may I attain;
Translation
These women thought of Thee and remembered Thee not with the feeling of godliness, Paramaatmaa, but with the feeling of paramour. In a moment, they attained the state of liberation with Thee. O Supreme Resplendent form! Meditating in the mind in some or the other manner may I attain the state of immortality effortlessly.

abhyāgatābhirabhitō vrajasundarībhi-
rmugdhasmitārdravadanaḥ karuṇāvalōkī ।
nissīmakāntijaladhistvamavēkṣyamāṇō
viśvaikahṛdya hara mē pavanēśa rōgān ॥9॥
Meaning
abhyāgatābhiḥ- - by those who had come; abhitaḥ - all around; vrajasundarībhiḥ- - (by) the beautiful women fo Vraja; mugdha-smita-ārdra-vadanaḥ - (with) a captivating smile lit on the face; karuṇā-avalōkī - (Thou) glancing with compassion; nissīma-kānti- - unbound splendorous; jaladhiḥ-tvam- - ocean Thou; avēkṣyamāṇaḥ - were looked at (by the women); viśvaikahṛdya - O Stealer of the world's heart!; hara mē - rid me of my; pavanēśa - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; rōgān - ailments;
Translation
The beautiful women of Vraja, who had come and gathered all around Thee, were looking at Thee. Thou had a captivating smile lighting Thy face, glancing with compassion, and Thou who are like an unbound ocean of splendour, O Hari! The stealer of the world's heart! rid me, O Lord of Guruvaayur! of my ailments.
