അയി സബല മുരാരേ പാണിജാനുപ്രചാരൈഃ
കിമപി ഭവനഭാഗാന് ഭൂഷയംതൌ ഭവംതൌ ।
ചലിതചരണകംജൌ മംജുമംജീരശിംജാ-
ശ്രവണകുതുകഭാജൌ ചേരതുശ്ചാരുവേഗാത് ॥1॥
Meaning
അയി സബല മുരാരേ - O Thou! Along with Balaraam, O Muraari!; പാണി-ജാനു-പ്രചാരൈഃ - on hands and knees moving; കിമ്-അപി - where not also; ഭവന-ഭാഗാന് - in the various parts of the house; ഭൂഷയംതൌ ഭവംതൌ - adorning, the two of Thou; ചലിത-ചരണ-കംജൌ - moving Thy two lotus feet; മംജു-മംജീര-ശിംജാ - the pleasing anklet tinkling (sound); ശ്രവണ-കുതുക-ഭാജൌ - eager to hear, the two of Thou; ചേരതുഃ-ചാരു-വേഗാത് - moved about charmingly fast;
Translation
O Lord Muraari! Thou and Thy brother Balaraam soon moved about on Thy hands and knees. When Thou moved about, Thou looked so beautiful that it was like your movements adorned the various parts of the house. With Thy movements, Thy ankle trinkets tinkled pleasingly, and so to increase the pleasing sound Thou charmingly moved about with more briskness.

മൃദു മൃദു വിഹസംതാവുന്മിഷദ്ദംതവംതൌ
വദനപതിതകേശൌ ദൃശ്യപാദാബ്ജദേശൌ ।
ഭുജഗലിതകരാംതവ്യാലഗത്കംകണാംകൌ
മതിമഹരതമുച്ചൈഃ പശ്യതാം വിശ്വനൃണാമ് ॥2॥
Meaning
മൃദു മൃദു വിഹസംതൌ- - very gently smiling; ഉന്മിഷത്-ദംതവംതൌ - (thereby) revealing the teeth; വദന-പതിത-കേശൌ - with hair falling on the face; ദൃശ്യ-പാദാബ്ജ-ദേശൌ - with the lovely sight of the lotus feet; ഭുജ-ഗലിത-കര-അംത- - from the arms, slipped down to the hands' end; വ്യാല-ഗത്-കംകണ-അംകൌ - and marked by the bracelets; മതിമ്-അഹരതമ്-ഉച്ചൈഃ - the minds intensely captivating; പശ്യതാം വിശ്വനൃണാമ് - of the onlookers (and) of all the people of the world;
Translation
Thy very gentle smile revealed the newly cut teeth. Thy lustrous locks of hair streamed around Thy face. It was a lovely sight to look at Thy lotus feet, and Thy arms, with armlets having slipped down to the wrists which were marked with bracelets. Thou and Thy brother intensely captivated the minds of all the onlookers and also of all the people of the world.

അനുസരതി ജനൌഘേ കൌതുകവ്യാകുലാക്ഷേ
കിമപി കൃതനിനാദം വ്യാഹസംതൌ ദ്രവംതൌ ।
വലിതവദനപദ്മം പൃഷ്ഠതോ ദത്തദൃഷ്ടീ
കിമിവ ന വിദധാഥേ കൌതുകം വാസുദേവ ॥3॥
Meaning
അനുസരതി ജനൌഘേ - being followed by all the people; കൌതുക-വ്യാകുല-ആക്ഷേ - with extremely eager eyes (set on Thee); കിമ്-അപി - some sort of; കൃത-നിനാദമ് - sound (the two of Thou) made; വ്യാഹസംതൌ ദ്രവംതൌ - (then) laughed (then) started running; വലിത-വദന-പദ്മമ് - (then) turning (Thy) lotus face; പൃഷ്ഠതഃ ദ്ത്ത-ദൃഷ്ടീ - casting a look behind; കിമ്-ഇവ ന - what also did not; വിദധാഥേ കൌതുകമ് - (Thou) cause joyful excitements; വാസുദേവ - O Vaasudeva!;
Translation
O Vaasudeva! All the people followed Thee with their eager affectionate eyes set on Thee. As the two of Thou ran, Thou made some screaming sounds, then laughed and ran as Thou turned Thy lotus like faces casting a look at the people behind. What incredible joyful excitement Thou caused when Thou did so!
ശ്ലോകഃ
ദ്രുതഗതിഷു പതംതാവുത്ഥിതൌ ലിപ്തപംകൌ
ദിവി മുനിഭിരപംകൈഃ സസ്മിതം വംദ്യമാനൌ ।
ദ്രുതമഥ ജനനീഭ്യാം സാനുകംപം ഗൃഹീതൌ
മുഹുരപി പരിരബ്ധൌ ദ്രാഗ്യുവാം ചുംബിതൌ ച ॥4॥
Meaning
ദ്രുതഗതിഷു - in moving fast; പതംതൌ-ഉത്ഥിതൌ - falling down, then getting up; ലിപ്ത-പംകൌ - smeared (stained) with dust (mud); ദിവി - in the heavens; മുനിഭിഃ-അപംകൈഃ - by the taintless sages; സസ്മിതം വംദ്യമാനൌ - with a smile (watching the two of Thou) being saluted; ദ്രുതമ്-അഥ - quickly then; ജനനീഭ്യാം സാനുകംപം - by the two mothers with great care; ഗൃഹീതൌ - being picked up; മുഹുഃഅപി പരിരബ്ധൌ - and again and again were embraced; ദ്രാക്-യുവാം ചുംബിതൌ ച - soon Thou two were kissed also;
Translation
As Thou two moved fast, Thou fell and got up and were smeared and tainted by mud. The taintless sages in heaven, saw these pranks and smiled at Thee and saluted Thee worshipfully. Then Thou two would be with great care quickly picked up by the two mothers and would be embraced and kissed again and again.

സ്നുതകുചഭരമംകേ ധാരയംതീ ഭവംതം
തരലമതി യശോദാ സ്തന്യദാ ധന്യധന്യാ ।
കപടപശുപ മധ്യേ മുഗ്ധഹാസാംകുരം തേ
ദശനമുകുലഹൃദ്യം വീക്ഷ്യ വക്ത്രം ജഹര്ഷ ॥5॥
Meaning
സ്നുത-സ്നുത-കുചഭരമ്- - with overflowing and full breasts; അംകേ ധാരയംതീ ഭവംതം - in the lap holding Thee; തരലമതി യശോദാ - tender hearted Yashodaa; സ്തന്യദാ ധന്യധന്യാ - breast feeding (Thee) was extremely fortunate; കപട-പശുപ മധ്യേ - O Thou! The seeming cowherd boy! In the middle; മുഗ്ധ-ഹാസ-അംകുരം - the bewitching smile sprouting; തേ ദശന-മുകുല-ഹൃദ്യം - Thy teeth buds-like charming; വീക്ഷ്യ വക്ത്രം ജഹര്ഷ - seeing (Thy) face was filled with delight;
Translation
The tender hearted Yashodaa with overflowing and full breasts, held Thee in her lap and fed Thee. How extremely fortunate and blessed she was as she did so. O Thou! The seeming cowherd boy! In between the feeding Thou smiled bewitchingly, revealing the charming jasmine buds like teeth, and seeing Thy face she was filled with delight.

തദനുചരണചാരീ ദാരകൈസ്സാകമാരാ-
ന്നിലയതതിഷു ഖേലന് ബാലചാപല്യശാലീ ।
ഭവനശുകവിഡാലാന് വത്സകാംശ്ചാനുധാവന്
കഥമപി കൃതഹാസൈര്ഗോപകൈർവാരിതോഽഭൂഃ ॥6॥
Meaning
തദനു-ചരണ-ചാരീ - next (when Thou started) on feet walking about; ദാരകൈഃ-സാകമ്- - with the other boys; ആരാത്-നിലയതതിഷു - in the nearby houses and compounds; ഖേലന് - playing; ബാല-ചാപല്യ-ശാലീ - (with) the natural childish restlessness; ഭവന-ശുക-വിഡാലാന് - the domestic parrots and cats; വത്സകാന്-ച- - and the calves; അനുധാവന് കഥമ്-അപി - chasing somehow; കൃത-ഹാസൈഃ-ഗോപകൈഃ- - by the gopaas who were laughing; വാരിതഃ-അഭൂഃ - (Thou) were restrained;
Translation
Next, as Thou started to walk about, Thou played with the other boys in the neighbouring houses and compounds with the natural childlike restlessness. The Gopaas witnessed with joyful laughter as Thou also chased the pet parrots, cats and calves of the household and they somehow restrained Thee from doing so.

ഹലധരസഹിതസ്ത്വം യത്ര യത്രോപയാതോ
വിവശപതിതനേത്രാസ്തത്ര തത്രൈവ ഗോപ്യഃ ।
വിഗലിതഗൃഹകൃത്യാ വിസ്മൃതാപത്യഭൃത്യാ
മുരഹര മുഹുരത്യംതാകുലാ നിത്യമാസന് ॥7॥
Meaning
ഹലധര-സഹിതഃ-ത്വം - along with Haladhara (Balaraam), Thou; യത്ര യത്ര-ഉപയാതഃ - where-ever went; വിവശ-പതിത-നേത്രാഃ- - with helpless (spell bound) watching; തത്ര തത്ര-ഏവ ഗോപ്യഃ - there there the Gopis; വിഗലിത-ഗൃഹ-കൃത്യാ - neglecting their household duties; വിസ്മൃത-അപത്യ-ഭൃത്യാ - forgetting their children and servants; മുരഹര - O Slayer of Mura!; മുഹുഃ-അത്യംത- - again and again, very much; ആകുലാ നിത്യമ്-ആസന് - excited always were;
Translation
Where so ever that Thou went with Thy elder brother Haldhar, the Gopis helplessly and spell bound kept watching Thee. They even neglected their household chores and forgot all about their children and servants. O Slayer of Mura! They were always so very much excited as this happened again and again.
ശ്ലോകഃ
പ്രതിനവനവനീതം ഗോപികാദത്തമിച്ഛന്
കലപദമുപഗായന് കോമലം ക്വാപി നൃത്യന് ।
സദയയുവതിലോകൈരര്പിതം സര്പിരശ്നന്
ക്വചന നവവിപക്വം ദുഗ്ധമപ്യാപിബസ്ത്വമ് ॥8॥
Meaning
പ്രതിനവ-നവനീതം - fresh butter; ഗോപികാ-ദത്തമ്- - by the Gopikas given; ഇച്ഛന് കലപദമ്- - desiring sweet songs; ഉപഗായന് - singing; കോമലം ക്വ-അപി - charmingly sometimes; നൃത്യന് - dancing; സദയ-യുവതി-ലോകൈഃ - by the affectionate young women folk; അര്പിതം സര്പിഃ-അശ്നന് - offered butter, eating; ക്വചന നവ- വിപക്വം - sometimes freshly boiled; ദുഗ്ധമ്-അപി- - milk also; അപിബഃ-ത്വമ് - drank Thou;
Translation
Thou would sweetly sing and sometimes charmingly dance about with the desire of getting fresh butter. The young women full of affection gave Thee butter which Thou ate and also gave freshly boiled milk which Thou drank with delight.
ശ്ലോകഃ
മമ ഖലു ബലിഗേഹേ യാചനം ജാതമാസ്താ-
മിഹ പുനരബലാനാമഗ്രതോ നൈവ കുർവേ ।
ഇതി വിഹിതമതിഃ കിം ദേവ സംത്യജ്യ യാച്ഞാം
ദധിഘൃതമഹരസ്ത്വം ചാരുണാ ചോരണേന ॥9॥
Meaning
മമ ഖലു ബലി-ഗേഹേ - indeed my, in the house of Mahaabali; യാചനം ജാതമ്-ആസ്താമ് - begging was done, let that be; ഇഹ പുനഃ- - here, again; അബലാനാമ്-അഗ്രതഃ - in front of the ladies; ന-ഏവ കുർവേ - I will not do so; ഇതി വിഹിത-മതിഃ - thus deciding; കിം ദേവ - did Thou O Lord!; സംത്യജ്യ യച്ഞാം - giving up begging; ദധി-ഘൃതമ്- - curd ghee etc; അഹരഃ-ത്വം - took Thou; ചാരുണാ ചോരണേന - by pleasant stealing;
Translation
In the house of Mahaabali I had to go begging. Let that be. Here now in front of these ladies I am not going to do so again.' O Lord! Thus deciding Thou gave up begging for curd and ghee etc and resorted to pleasantly stealing in clever delightful ways.

തവ ദധിഘൃതമോഷേ ഘോഷയോഷാജനാനാ-
മഭജത ഹൃദി രോഷോ നാവകാശം ന ശോകഃ ।
ഹൃദയമപി മുഷിത്വാ ഹര്ഷസിംധൌ ന്യധാസ്ത്വം
സ മമ ശമയ രോഗാന് വാതഗേഹാധിനാഥ ॥10॥
Meaning
തവ ദധി-ഘൃതമ്-ഓഷേ - Thy, in the curd and ghee stealing; ഘോഷ-യോഷാ-ജനാനാമ്- - in the cowherds' colony's women folk; അഭജത ഹൃദി രോഷഃ - did not entertain in their hearts, anger; ന-അവകാശം ന ശോകഃ - neither dearth nor sorrow; ഹൃദയമ്-അപി മുഷിത്വാ - (their) hearts also stealing; ഹര്ഷ-സിംധൌ - in the ocean of bliss; ന്യധാഃ-ത്വം - put them in, Thou; സ - That Thou; മമ ശമയ രോഗാന് - my eradicate ailments; വാതഗേഹാധിനാഥ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!;
Translation
In the cowherds' colony the Gopikas did not have place in their hearts for either anger or sorrow by Thy stealing of butter and ghee etc. They did not even feel any dearth for its being stolen. It was because Thou also stole their hearts and immersed them in the ocean of Bliss. Such Thou O Lord of Guruvaayur! May Thou eradicate my ailments.

ശാഖാഗ്രേ വിധും വിലോക്യ ഫലമിത്യംബാം ച താതം മുഹുഃ

Meaning
ശാഖാ-അഗ്രേ-അഥ - (at) the branches's front (end) then; വിധും വിലോക്യ - the moon seeing; ഫലമ്-ഇതി-അംബാമ് - fruit it is, (to) mother; ച താതം മുഹുഃ - and to father again and again; സംപ്രാര്ഥ്യ-അഥ - requesting, then; തദാ തദീയ-വചസാ - at that time, by his (father's)saying; പ്രോക്ഷിപ്ത-ബാഹൌ ത്വയി - were flung up the two arms by Thee; ചിത്രമ് - amazing; ദേവ ശശീ സ - deity moon that; തേ കരമ്-അഗാത് - in Thy hands came; കിം ബ്രൂമഹേ സംപതഃ - what do we say of (Thy) lordliness; ജ്യോതിഃ-മംഡല- - the luminous aura; പൂരിത-അഖില-വപുഃ - covering the whole body; പ്രാഗാ വിരാട-രൂപമ് - attained cosmic form;
Translation
On the front end of the branch of a tree, watching the moon, Thou asked Thy mother and father again and again for it, saying that it was a fruit. At that time, then, going by Thy father's words, when Thou flung Thy two arms,amazingly, the deity moon came into Thy hands! What can we say of Thy splendorous lordliness? Thy whole body was covered by luminous light and Thou attained Thy cosmic form!

കിം കിം ബതേദമിതി സംഭ്രമ ഭാജമേനം
ബ്രഹ്മാര്ണവേ ക്ഷണമമും പരിമജ്ജ്യ താതമ് ।
മായാം പുനസ്തനയ-മോഹമയീം വിതന്വന്
ആനംദചിന്മയ ജഗന്മയ പാഹി രോഗാത് ॥12॥
Meaning
കിം കിം ബത- - what what, indeed; ഇദമ്-ഇതി സംഭ്രമ് - this (is) thus confusion; ഭാജമ്-ഏനമ് - contained him (father); ബ്രഹ്മ-അര്ണവേ - in the cosmic ocean; ക്ഷണമ്-അമുമ് - for a moment him; പരിമജ്ജ്യ താതമ് - immersing father; മായാം പുനഃ-തനയ- - the Maayaa again, of son's; മോഹമയീം വിതന്വന് - enchanting, drawing; ആനംദ-ചിന്മയ - bliss, supreme consciousness; ജഗന്മയ - O Universal form!; പാഹി രോഗാത് - save from disease;
Translation
'What is all this! indeed!' thus Thy father was a vessel of amazement. Thou immersed him in the cosmic ocean for a moment, then again extended Thy Maayaa, and Thou brought about Thy enchanting form of a son. That, Bliss incarnate,Supreme Consciousness, Cosmic form, O Krishna! save me from disease!
