Meaning
நீத:-ஸுக்³ரீவ-மைத்ரீம் - having taken alliance with Sugreeva; தத்-அனு ஹனுமதா - after that by Hanumaan; து³ந்து³பே⁴: காயம்- - the corpse of Asura Dundubhi; உச்சை: க்ஷிப்த்வா-அங்கு³ஷ்டே²ன - having flung far away with Thy toe; பூ⁴ய: லுலுவித² யுக³பத் - then (Thou) cut asunder; பத்ரிணா ஸப்த ஸாலான் - by a single arrow seven Saala trees; ஹத்வா ஸுக்³ரீவ-கா⁴த-உத்³யதம்- - killed (the) eager to kill Sugreeva; அதுல-ப³லம் பா³லினம் - Baali who had incomparable strength; வ்யாஜவ்ருத்யா - by using a strategy; வர்ஷா-வேலாம்-அனைஷீ:- - (Thou) spent the rainy season; விரஹ-தரலித:-த்வம் - tormented by the pangs of separation (from Seeta); மதங்க-³ஆஶ்ரம-அந்தே - near the Aashram of sage Matanga;
Translation
Having taken alliance with Sugreeva which was brought about by Hanumaan, Thou flung far away the corpse of the Asura Dundubhi with Thy toe and also cut through seven Saala trees by a single arrow simultaneously, to demonstrate Thy strength to Sugreeva. Baali who was incomparable in strength and was eager to kill Sugreeva was killed by Thee by using a strategy. Thou then spent the rainy season tormented by the pangs of separation from Seetaa, near the hermitage of sage Matanga.

Meaning
ஸுக்³ரீவேண-அனுஜ-உக்த்யா - by Sugreeva, on Thy younger brother Lakshmanaa's admonitions; ஸப⁴யம்-அபி⁴யதா - in fear Thou were approached; வ்யூஹிதாம் வாஹினீம் தாம்- - and marshalled that army; ருக்ஷாணாம் வீக்ஷ்ய - of monkeys, seeing; தி³க்ஷு த்³ருதம்-அத² - in all directions quickly; த³யிதா-மார்க³ணாய-அவனம்ராம் - to search for Thy wife, before Thee; ஸந்தே³ஶம் ச-அங்கு³லீயம் - a message and a signet ring; பவனஸுத-கரே ப்ராதி³ஶ: - in Hanumaan's hands gave; மோத³ஶாலீ - Thou who were very delighted; மார்கே³ மார்கே³ மமார்கே³ - in all directions searched for; கபிபி⁴:-அபி ததா³ - by the monkeys, even then; த்வத்-ப்ரியா ஸப்ரயாஸை: - Thy consort, with full effort;
Translation
When Thy younger brother Lakshmana admonished Sugreeva, he in fear approached Thee marshalling an army of monkeys, to search for Thy wife Seeta in all directions. Thou were delighted to see this and gave to Hanumaan who was standing before Thee, a message and a signet ring for Seetaa. The monkeys very diligently started on the mission to search for Thy consort Seeta.

Meaning
த்வத்-வார்தா-ஆகர்ணன்- - Thy accounts hearing; உத்³யத்-க³ருத்-உரு-ஜவ- - having grown wings with great speed; ஸம்பாதி-ஸம்பாதி-வாக்ய- - flies away (Sampaati), (and) by the words of that Sampaati; ப்ரோதீர்ண-அர்ணோதி⁴:-அந்தர்னக³ரி - (Hanumaan) jumped across the ocean in the city (of Lankaa); ஜனகஜாம் வீக்ஷ்ய - seeing Seetaa; த³த்வா-அங்கு³லீயம் - and giving the ring; ப்ரக்ஷுத்³ய-உத்³யானம்- - destroying the garden; அக்ஷ-க்ஷபண-சண-ரண: - and killing Aksha in the famous battle; ஸோட-⁴ப³ந்த:⁴ - put up with the bondage (of Brahmaastra); த³ஶ-ஆஸ்யம் த்³ருஷ்ட்வா - and seeing the ten faced one (Raavana); ப்லுஷ்ட்வா ச லங்காம் - and burning down Lanka; ஜ²டிதி ஸ ஹனுமான் - quickly that Hanumaan; மௌலிரத்னம் த³தௌ³ தே - gave to Thee the crest jewel (given by Seetaa);
Translation
On hearing Thy account Sampaati had grown fresh wings and flew away. As Sampaati had told him the whereabouts of Seetaa, Hanumaan jumped across the ocean and reached the city of Lankaa. There he saw Seetaa and gave her the ring, destroyed the garden, killed Aksha kumaar in the famous battle, and put up with the Brahmaastra bondage. Then he met the ten faced Raavana and burned down Lankaa. Hanumaan then quickly went to Thee and gave Thee the crest jewel sent by Seetaa.

த்வம் ஸுக்³ரீவ-அங்க³த-³ஆதி³- - Thou, Sugreeva, Angada and other; ப்ரப³ல-கபி-சமூ- - warriors of the monkey army; சக்ர-விக்ராந்த-பூ⁴மீ- - who conquered the earth; சக்ர:-அபி⁴க்ரம்ய - set out to cross; பாரே-ஜலதி⁴ - to the other side of the ocean; நிஶிசரேந்த்³ர-அனுஜ- - by the younger brother of the Asura king; ஆஶ்ரீயமாண: - who sought refuge in Thee; தத்-ப்ரோக்தாம் ஶத்ரு-வார்தாம் - as told by him, the information of the enemy; ரஹஸி நிஶமயன் - hearing in secret; ப்ரார்த²னா-ஆபார்த்²ய- - (when) the requests were in vain; ரோஷ-ப்ராஸ்த-ஆக்³னேய-அஸ்த்ர- - in anger Thou sent the fire missile; தேஜ:-த்ரஸத்-உத³தி⁴-கி³ரா - in fright of its power, by the words of the ocean; லப்³த⁴வான் மத்⁴யமார்க³ம் - Thou got a way through (the ocean);
Translation
Thou set out with a huge army of monkeys led by great warriors Sugreeva, Angad and others and conquering the whole earth reached the shore of the ocean. Raavana's younger brother Vibheeshana, crossed over to Thy side, and taking refuge in Thee, disclosed the secrets of the enemy which Thou heard in secret. When the requests made to the ocean deity were in vain, in anger Thou sent the fire missile to annihilate the waters of the ocean. Frightened by the power of the missile, as ordered by the ocean deity, Thou got a way through the ocean.

கீஶை:-ஆஶாந்தர- - by the monkeys from all the directions; உபாஹ்ருத-கி³ரினிகரை: - brought groups of mountains; ஸேதும்-ஆதா⁴ப்ய - a bridge getting built; யாத: யாதூனி-ஆமர்த்³ய - went (to Lanka), destroyed the Raakshasas; த³ம்ஷ்ட்ரா-னக-²ஶிக²ரி-ஶிலா-ஸால-ஶஸ்த்ரை: - teeth, nails, mountains, rocks and trees having as weapons; ஸ்வஸைன்யை: வ்யாகுர்வன் - with Thy armies displaying; ஸானுஜ:-த்வம் ஸமர-பு⁴வி - with Thy brother in the battle field; பரம் விக்ரமம் - terrific prowess; ஶக்ரஜேத்ரா வேகா³த்-னாகா³ஸ்த்ர-ப³த்³த:⁴ - by Indrajit soon tied down by Naagaastra; பதக³பதி- - by Garuda's; க³ருத்-மாருதை:- - force of wind of his wings; மோசித:-அபூ⁴: - were (soon) released;
Translation
The monkeys from all the quarters brought mountains and rocks by which Thou got a bridge built across Lanka.Crossing over Thy army of monkeys attacked the Raakshasas with teeth claws mountains rocks and palm trees as weapons. With Thy brother displaying terrific power in the battle field, Raavana's son Indrajit soon tied down Thy troops with Naagaastra. Garuda, Thy vehicle soon released them from that state by fanning them with his wings.

ஸௌமித்ரி:-து-அத்ர - Lakshmana, there indeed; ஶக்தி-ப்ரஹ்ருதி- - by the missile 'Shakti' being struck; க³லத்-அஸு:- - was slipping off life; வாதஜ-ஆனீத- - brought by Hanumaan; ஶைல-க்⁴ராணாத் - the mountain (on which the herb grew) by smelling; ப்ராணான்-உபேத: வ்யக்ருணுத - got his life back and killed; குஸ்ருதி:-லாகி⁴னம் மேக⁴னாத³ம் - the master of magical arts - Indrajit; மாயா-க்ஷோபே⁴ஷு - disturbed by the magical powers of Raavana; வைபீ⁴ஷண-வசன-ஹ்ருத-ஸ்தம்ப⁴ன: - Thou were relieved from the stunning effect by Vibheeshana's words; கும்ப⁴கர்ணம் ஸம்ப்ராப்தம் - Kumbhakarna, who had come; கம்பித-உர்வீதலம்- - making the earth tremble; அகி²ல-சமூ-ப⁴க்ஷிணம் - eating the whole army; வ்யக்ஷிணோ:-த்வம் - Thou killed;
Translation
The missile 'Shakti' sent by Raavana, struck Lakshmana who was slipping off life. He was revived by smelling the herb which grew on the mountain which was then brought by Hanumaan. After that Lakshmana killed the master of the magical arts Indrajit. Thou were disturbed by the magical powers of Raavana and were relieved from its stunning effects by Vibheeshana's words. Kumbhkarna who came to join the battle, made the earth tremble and was devouring the army of monkeys, was then killed by Thee.

க்³ருஹ்ணன் - accepting; ஜம்பா⁴ரி-ஸம்ப்ரேஷித-ரத-²கவசௌ - the chariot and armour sent by Indra; ராவணேன-அபி⁴யுத்³த்⁴யன் - fighting with Raavan; ப்³ரஹ்ம-அஸ்த்ரேண- - by the Brahmaastra; அஸ்ய பி⁴ந்த³ன்-க³லததிம்- - his row of heads cutting off; அப³லாம்-அக்³னிஶுத்³தா⁴ம் ப்ரக்³ருஹ்ணன் - Seetaa purified by fire accepting; தே³வ-ஶ்ரேணீவர- - by the Devas of high order; உஜ்ஜீவித-ஸமர-ம்ருதை:- - brought back to life who were killed in the battle; அக்ஷதை: ருக்ஷஸங்கை⁴:- - who did not have any wounds, the host of monkeys; லங்கா-ப⁴ர்த்ரா ச ஸாகம் - and along with the king of Lanka (Vibheeshana); நிஜ-னக³ரம்-அகா³: - to Thy own city returned; ஸப்ரிய: புஷ்பகேண - with Seetaa in the (chariot) Pushpaka;
Translation
Accepting the chariot and the armour sent by Indra, Thou fought with Raavana and cut off his row of heads by the Brahmaastra, and accepted Seetaa after she was purified by fire. The Devas of high order healed and revived the host of monkeys who were wounded and killed in the battle. Then along with the king of Lanka, Vibheeshana, and Thy consort Seetaa, Thou returned to Thy own city of Ayodhyaa in the chariot Pushpaka.

Meaning
ப்ரீத: தி³வ்ய-அபி⁴ஷேகை:- - pleased with the coronation done with holy waters; அயுத-ஸம-அதி⁴கான் வத்ஸரான் - for more than ten thousand years; பர்யரம்ஸீ - ruled happily; மைதி²ல்யாம் பாப-வாசா - (pertaining) to Seetaa, because of the slander; ஶிவ! ஶிவ! கில - what a pity, indeed; தாம் க³ர்பி⁴ணீம்-அப்⁴யஹாஸீ: - her, who was pregnant, abandoned; ஶத்ருக்⁴னேன-அர்த³யித்வா - by Shatrughna was killed; லவண-னிஶிசரம் - Lavanaasura; ப்ரார்த³ய: ஶூத்³ரபாஶம் - (then Thou) killed the shudra ascetic; தாவத்-வால்மீகி-கே³ஹே - after that in Vaalmiki's Aashrama; க்ருதவஸதி:-உபாஸூத ஸீதா - who was living, Seetaa gave birth to; ஸுதௌ தே - Thy two sons;
Translation
Thou were pleased to be coronated with the holy waters and ruled happily for more than ten thousand years. Reacting to a scandalous gossip about Seetaa, Thou abandoned her in spite of her being pregnant. O what a pity. The Asura Lavanaasura was killed by Shatrughna and Thou killed the shudra ascetic. Thereafter, Seetaa who was living in Vaalmiki's aashrama gave birth to Thy two sons.

Meaning
வால்மீகே:- - Vaalmeeki; த்வத்-ஸுத-உத்³கா³பித- - then made Thy sons to sing; மது⁴ர-க்ருதே:-ஆஜ்ஞயா - the beautiful composition, by his order; யஜ்ஞவாடே - in the premises of the Yagya; ஸீதாம் த்வயி-ஆப்துகாமே - Thou were desirous to take back Seetaa; க்ஷிதிம்-அவிஶத்-அஸௌ - she disappeared into the Earth; த்வம் ச கால-அர்தி²த:-அபூ⁴: - and Thou were requested by Kaala Yama; ஹேதோ: ஸௌமித்ரி-கா⁴தீ - for that reason Thou abandoned Lakshmana; ஸ்வயம்-அத² ஸரயூ-மக்³ன- - then Thou submerged in Saryu river; நிஶ்ஶேஷ-ப்⁴ருத்யை: ஸாகம் - along with all the attendants; நாகம் ப்ரயாத: - going to Swarga; நிஜ-பத³ம்-அக³ம: - reached Thy abode; தே³வ வைகுண்ட²ம்-ஆத்³யம் - O Lord! The eternal Vaikuntha;
Translation
In the premises of the Yanjya by Vaalmeeki's order Thy sons sang the beautiful composition which was composed by him. Hearing it Raama was desirous of taking back Seetaa, but she disappeared into her mother Earth. At the request of the Kaala Yama to return to Thy abode Vaikunth, Thou first created reason to abandon Lakshmana and then Thou submerged in the river Saryu along with all Thy attendants. Then going to Swarga Thou reached Thy abode the eternal Vaikuntha.

Meaning
ஸ:-அயம் மர்த்ய-அவதார:-தவ - that this human embodiment of Thine; க²லு நியதம் - indeed happened; மர்த்ய-ஶிக்ஷா-அர்த²ம்-ஏவம் - for mankind as a lesson only; விஶ்லேஷ-ஆர்தி:- - pangs of separation; நிராக:³-த்யஜனம்-அபி - (and) also abandoning of the innocent; ப⁴வேத் - happen; காம-த⁴ர்ம-அதிஸக்த்யா - due to extreme addiction to attachment and Dharma (duty); நோ சேத் - otherwise; ஸ்வ-ஆத்ம-அனுபூ⁴தே: - (for Thee) who are established in self consciousness; க்வ நு தவ மனஸ: விக்ரியா - how come Thy weakness of mind; சக்ரபாணே - O Wielder of the Discuss!; ஸ த்வம் ஸத்வ-ஏக-மூர்தே - That Thou, the very embodiment of the Satvaguna; பவனபுரபதே - The Lord of Guruvaayur; வ்யாது⁴னு வ்யாதி⁴-தாபான் - eradicate (my) sufferings from the disease;
Translation
As a lesson to the mankind this human embodiment of Thee happened. Pangs of separation are caused by extreme attachment, as also extreme addiction to Dharma may lead to the abandoning of the innocent. Otherwise for Thee who are established in self consciousness how can such a weakness of mind be explained. O Wielder of the Discuss! Thou That very embodiment of the Satva guna! O The Lord of Guruvayur! eradicate my sufferings from the disease.
