த்வயி விஹரணலோலே பா³லஜாலை: ப்ரலம்ப-³
ப்ரமத²னஸவிலம்பே³ தே⁴னவ: ஸ்வைரசாரா: ।
த்ருணகுதுகனிவிஷ்டா தூ³ரதூ³ரம் சரந்த்ய:
கிமபி விபினமைஷீகாக்²யமீஷாம்ப³பூ⁴வு: ॥1॥
Meaning
த்வயி விஹரண-லோலே - (when) Thou (were) engaged in playing; பா³ல-ஜாலை: - with the boys' group; ப்ரலம்ப-³ப்ரமத²ன- - in the Pralambaasura killing; ஸவிலம்பே³ - (and) were delayed; தே⁴னவ: ஸ்வைர-சாரா: - the cows of their own will; த்ருண-குதுக-னிவிஷ்டா - eager to eat grass; தூ³ர-தூ³ரம் சரந்த்ய: - far and far moving; கிமபி விபினம்- - (to) some forest; ஐஷீக-ஆக்²யம்- - Aishika (also a grass) named; ஈஷாம் ப³பூ⁴வு: - came near;
Translation
As Thou were engaged in playing with the group of boys and were held up in the destruction of Pralambaasura, the cows moved far ahead in their eagerness to eat grass. They reached a nearby forest named Aishika.
ஶ்லோக:
அனதி⁴க³தனிதா³க⁴க்ரௌர்யவ்ருந்தா³வனாந்தாத்
ப³ஹிரித³முபயாதா: கானநம் தே⁴னவஸ்தா: ।
தவ விரஹவிஷண்ணா ஊஷ்மலக்³ரீஷ்மதாப-
ப்ரஸரவிஸரத³ம்ப⁴ஸ்யாகுலா: ஸ்தம்ப⁴மாபு: ॥2॥
Meaning
அனதி⁴கத³ - (which was) not felt; நிதா³க-⁴க்ரௌர்யம்- - the summer heat cruel (intensity); வ்ருந்தா³வன-அந்தாத் - at Vrindaavana's outer end; ப³ஹி:-இத³ம்-உபயாதா: - outside this (who had) reached; கானநம் தே⁴னவ:-தா: - the forest, those cows; தவ விரஹ-விஷண்ணா - (by) Thy separation tormented; ஊஷ்மல-க்³ரீஷ்ம-தாப- - (and) the intensely hot the summer heat; ப்ரஸர-விஸரத்- - increasing and spreading; அம்ப⁴ஸ்ய-ஆகுலா: - for want of water suffering; ஸ்தம்ப⁴ம்-ஆபு: - motionless became;
Translation
The cruel summer heat was not felt in the Vrindaavana forest. But when the cows reached the outskirts of the forest, they were tormented by the intensely hot summer heat which was increasing and spreading. Exhausted by the heat and for the want of water and also out of grief at the separation from Thee, they stood stunned and motionless.
ஶ்லோக:
தத³னு ஸஹ ஸஹாயைர்தூ³ரமன்விஷ்ய ஶௌரே
க³லிதஸரணிமுஞ்ஜாரண்யஸஞ்ஜாதகே²த³ம் ।
பஶுகுலமபி⁴வீக்ஷ்ய க்ஷிப்ரமானேதுமாரா-
த்த்வயி க³தவதி ஹீ ஹீ ஸர்வதோக்³னிர்ஜஜ்ரும்பே⁴ ॥3॥
Meaning
தத³னு ஸஹ ஸஹாயை:- - then with Thy helpers; தூ³ரம்-அன்விஷ்ய - till far searching; ஶௌரே - O Krishna; க³லித-ஸரணி- - loosing the way; முஞ்ஜ-அரண்ய- - (reaching) the Munja forest; ஸஞாத-கே²த³ம் - overcome by exhaustion; பஶுகுலம்-அபி⁴வீக்ஷ்ய - the cattle seeing; க்ஷிப்ரம்-ஆனேதும்- - quickly to bring; ஆராத்-த்வயி க³தவதி - near (when) Thou went; ஹீ ஹீ ஸர்வத:- - alas, alas, all around; அக்³னி;-ஜஜ்ரும்பே⁴ - a fire broke out;
Translation
O Krishna! Along with Thy mates, Thou ventured far in search of the cattle and having lost the way, Thou reached the Munja forest. There Thou discovered the cows standing in distress and as Thou were nearing them to bring them back, alas a wild fire broke out and spread.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸகலஹரிதி தீ³ப்தே கோ⁴ரபா⁴ங்காரபீ⁴மே
ஶிகி²னி விஹதமார்கா³ அர்த⁴த³க்³தா⁴ இவார்தா: ।
அஹஹ பு⁴வனப³ந்தோ⁴ பாஹி பாஹீதி ஸர்வே
ஶரணமுபக³தாஸ்த்வாம் தாபஹர்தாரமேகம் ॥4॥
Meaning
ஸகல-ஹரிதி தீ³ப்தே - (when) all the directions were blazing; கோ⁴ர-பா⁴ங்கார-பீ⁴மே - (with) terrific roars frightening; ஶிகி²னி - the fire; விஹத-மார்கா³ - obstructed the ways; அர்த-⁴த³க்³தா⁴: - half burnt; இவ-ஆர்தா: - like tormented; அஹஹ பு⁴வனப³ந்தோ⁴ - O Friend of all!; பாஹி பாஹி-இதி - save, save us, thus; ஸர்வே ஶரணம்-உபக³தா:- - all of them took refuge; த்வாம் தாப-ஹர்தாரம்-ஏகம் - in Thee, from all sorrows the saviour, the Only One;
Translation
All the directions were blazing with the outrageous fire and its terrific frightening roars. All the escape routes were obstructed and all the boys and cows were so tormented as if they were half burnt. They all took refuge in Thee who are a friend of all and called Thee saying, ' O The Only One saviour from all sorrows , save us, save us.'
ஶ்லோக:
அலமலமதிபீ⁴த்யா ஸர்வதோ மீலயத்⁴வம்
த்³ருஶமிதி தவ வாசா மீலிதாக்ஷேஷு தேஷு ।
க்வ நு த³வத³ஹனோஸௌ குத்ர முஞ்ஜாடவீ ஸா
ஸபதி³ வவ்ருதிரே தே ஹந்த பா⁴ண்டீ³ரதே³ஶே ॥5॥
Meaning
அலம்-அலம்- - enough enough; அதி-பீ⁴த்யா - of so much fright; ஸர்வத: மீலயத்⁴வம் - all of you close; த்³ருஶம்-இதி - the eyes, thus; தவ வாசா - by Thy words; மீலித-அக்ஷேஷு - (when they) had closed the eyes; தேஷு க்வ நு - when they, where indeed (was); த³வ-த³ஹன:-அஸௌ - forest fire that; குத்ர முஞ்ஜா-அடவீ ஸா - where (was) Munja forest that; ஸபதி³ வவ்ருதிரே தே - at once found themselves they; ஹந்த பா⁴ண்டீ³ர-தே³ஶே - how wonderful, in Bhaandeera land;
Translation
Enough, enough of so much fright. Let all completely close their eyes.' Thus on Thy instruction when they had all closed their eyes, where indeed was the forest fire and where was the Munja forest? They instantly found themselves in the Bhaandeera area inside Vrindaavana. How wonderful!

ஜய ஜய தவ மாயா கேயமீஶேதி தேஷாம்
நுதிபி⁴ருதி³தஹாஸோ ப³த்³த⁴னானாவிலாஸ: ।
புனரபி விபினாந்தே ப்ராசர: பாடலாதி³-
ப்ரஸவனிகரமாத்ரக்³ராஹ்யக⁴ர்மானுபா⁴வே ॥6॥
Meaning
ஜய ஜய - hail hail; தவ மாயா - Thy mysterious ways; கா-இயம் - what is it; ஈஶ- - O Lord; இதி தேஷாம் - thus by them (the cowherds); நுதிபி⁴:-உதி³தஹாஸ: - being praised, smilingly; ப³த்³த-⁴னானா-விலாஸ: - in various ways sporting; புன:-அபி - again also; விபின-அந்தே - in the forest's end; ப்ராசர: பாடலாதி³- - Thou roamed about, (where) the Paatala etc; ப்ரஸவ-னிகர- - (flowers) blooming in bunches; மாத்ர-க்³ராஹ்ய- - (were the) only indication; க⁴ர்ம-அனுபா⁴வே - summer season's presence;
Translation
Hail, hail, Thy mysterious ways, unfathomable, O Lord!' Thus Thou were smilingly praised by them. Thou continued to roam about and sport in various ways, where the Paatala flowers blooming in bunches, were the only indication of the presence of the summer season.

த்வயி விமுக²மிவோச்சைஸ்தாபபா⁴ரம் வஹந்தம்
தவ பஜ⁴னவத³ந்த: பங்கமுச்சோ²ஷயந்தம் ।

Meaning
த்வயி விமுக²ம்- - (when) unto Thee, (one is) indifferent; இவ-உச்சை:- - like that, very intense; தாபபா⁴ரம் வஹந்தம் - the weight of heat, carrying; தவ பஜ⁴ன-வத³ந்த: - Thy praises speaking (worshipping); பங்கம்- - the mud/slush; உச்சோ²ஷயந்தம் - drying up; தவ பு⁴ஜ-வத்- - Thy two arms like; உத³ஞ்சத்- - emitting; பூ⁴ரி-தேஜ-ப்ரவாஹம் - a great brilliance flow; தப-ஸமயம்- - the summer time; அனைஷீ: - Thou spend; யாமுனேஷு ஸ்த²லேஷு - on the Yamunaa banks;
Translation
The intense heat of the summer time was like the weight of the heat of passion that people carry in their minds who are indifferent to Thee. It was like the heat which is created by worshipping Thee, which dries up all the mud and slush of Thy devotees. It was like the brilliance flowing from Thy two arms. Such a summer time Thou spent on the banks of the river Yamunaa.

ர்விகஸத³மலவித்³யுத்பீதவாஸோவிலாஸை: ।

Meaning
தத³னு ஜலத-³ஜாலை:- - then with the cloud clusters; த்வத்-வபு:- - Thy body; துல்ய-பா⁴பி⁴:- - like splendorous; விகஸத்-அமல- - shining pure; வித்³யுத்-பீதவாஸ:- - lightening (like Thy) yellow garment; விலாஸை: - beautifully; ஸகல-பு⁴வன-பா⁴ஜாம் - (to) all the world's inhabitants; ஹர்ஷதா³ம் வர்ஷவேலாம் - joy giving, the rainy season; க்ஷிதித⁴ர-குஹரேஷு - (in) the mountain caves; ஸ்வைரவாஸீ வ்யனைஷீ: - at will residing Thou spend;
Translation
Then, the clusters of clouds in the rainy season were like the hue of Thy splendorous body, the lightening shining was like the luster of Thy beautiful yellow garment. It gave joy to all the inhabitants of the world. Such a rainy season Thou spent, sporting at will, in the caves of the mountain (Govardhana).

Meaning
குஹரதல-னிவிஷ்டம் - in the caves residing; த்வாம் க³ரிஷ்ட²ம் - to Thee, the highly honoured; கி³ரீந்த்³ர: - the mountain; ஶிகி²-குல- - the peacocks'; நவ-கேகா- - pleasant cooings; காகுபி⁴: ஸ்தோத்ரகாரீ - as hymns praising; ஸ்பு²ட-குடஜ-கத³ம்ப-³ - blooming Kutaja and Kadamba; ஸ்தோம-புஷ்பாஞ்ஜலிம் ச - heaps and as flower offerings; ப்ரவித³த⁴த்-அனுபே⁴ஜே - performing worship; தே³வ - O Lord! (To Thee); கோ³வர்த⁴ன:-அஸௌ - Govardhana this, (the mountain);
Translation
O Lord! To Thee, the highly honoured One, living in its caves, the mountain king (Govardhana) extended its hospitality. It sang hymns of Thy praise in the form of the pleasant cooings of the peacocks. It worshipped Thee in the form of offering heaps of fully bloomed Kutaja and Kadamba flowers falling from the branches at Thy feet.
ஶ்லோக:
அத² ஶரத³முபேதாம் தாம் ப⁴வத்³ப⁴க்தசேதோ-
விமலஸலிலபூராம் மானயன் கானநேஷு ।
த்ருணமமலவனாந்தே சாரு ஸஞ்சாரயன் கா³:
பவனபுரபதே த்வம் தே³ஹி மே தே³ஹஸௌக்²யம் ॥1௦॥
Meaning
அத² ஶரத³ம்-உபேதாம் - then spring season approaching; தாம் ப⁴வத்-ப⁴க்த-சேத:- - that (season) (like) Thy devotees' mind; விமல-ஸலில-பூராம் - with pure water full; மானயன் கானநேஷு - enjoying in the forests; த்ருணம்-அமல-வனாந்தே - grass in the pleasant forest; சாரு ஸஞ்சாரயன் கா³: - happily grazing the cows; பவனபுரபதே - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; த்வம் தே³ஹி - Thou bestow; மே தே³ஹ-ஸௌக்²யம் - unto me good health;
Translation
Then the spring season approached. In that season the streams were full of pure water, like the pure minds of Thy devotees. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Thou spent such a season enjoying in the forests and happily grazing grass to the cattle in the pleasant forests. O Thou! bestow unto me good health.
