ஶ்லோக:
ப⁴வத்ப்ரபா⁴வாவிது³ரா ஹி கோ³பாஸ்தருப்ரபாதாதி³கமத்ர கோ³ஷ்டே² ।
அஹேதுமுத்பாதக³ணம் விஶங்க்ய ப்ரயாதுமன்யத்ர மனோ விதேனு: ॥1॥
Meaning
ப⁴வத்-ப்ரபா⁴வ- - Thy glory; அவிது³ரா: ஹி கோ³பா:- - not knowing, so indeed, the Gopas; தரு-ப்ரபாத-ஆதி³கம்- - the trees' falling and other such (incidents); அத்ர கோ³ஷ்டே² - here in Gokula; அஹேதும்-உத்பாத-க³ணம் - unreasonable ill-omens; விஶங்க்ய - suspecting; ப்ரயாதும்-அன்யத்ர - to move, somewhere else; மன: விதேனு: - minds made up (decided);
Translation
The Gopas who were not aware of Thy glory and greatness, interpreted the falling of the trees and such other occurrences as unaccountable ill-omens. So they made up their minds and decided to migrate to some other place.
ஶ்லோக:
தத்ரோபனந்தா³பி⁴த⁴கோ³பவர்யோ ஜகௌ³ ப⁴வத்ப்ரேரணயைவ நூனம் ।
இத: ப்ரதீச்யாம் விபினம் மனோஜ்ஞம் வ்ருந்தா³வனம் நாம விராஜதீதி ॥2॥
Meaning
தத்ர-உபனந்த-³அபி⁴த-⁴ - there, by the name of Upananda; கோ³பவர்ய: ஜகௌ³ - the leading Gopa said; ப⁴வத்-ப்ரேரணயா-ஏவ - by Thy prompting alone; நூனம் - certainly; இத: ப்ரதீச்யாம் - from here to the West; விபினம் மனோஜ்ஞம் - a pleasant forest land; வ்ருந்தா³வனம் நாம - Vrindaavana by name; விராஜதி-இதி - is situated, thus (he said);
Translation
Indeed by Thy prompting alone, a leading Gopa named Upananda brought to their notice the beautiful forest country side called Vrindaavana, situated to the west of Gokula, as a proper location for their settlement.
ஶ்லோக:
ப்³ருஹத்³வனம் தத் க²லு நந்த³முக்²யா விதா⁴ய கௌ³ஷ்டீ²னமத² க்ஷணேன ।
த்வத³ன்விதத்வஜ்ஜனநீனிவிஷ்டக³ரிஷ்ட²யானானுக³தா விசேலு: ॥3॥
Meaning
ப்³ருஹத்³வனம் தத் க²லு - Vrihadvana, that indeed; நந்த-³முக்²யா விதா⁴ய - Nanda and others making; கௌ³ஷ்டீ²னம்-அத² - a cowshed then; க்ஷணேன - in no time; த்வத்-அன்வித- - carrying Thee; த்வத்-ஜனநீ-னிவிஷ்ட- - (and) Thy mother sitting; க³ரிஷ்ட-²யான-அனுக³தா - in the imposing vehicle, following; விசேலு: - proceeded;
Translation
Nanda and the others soon abandoned the Vrihadvana settlement and made it as a cowshed. They proceeded following the imposing vehicle which was carrying Thee and in which Thy mother was sitting.
ஶ்லோக:
அனோமனோஜ்ஞத்⁴வனிதே⁴னுபாலீகு²ரப்ரணாதா³ந்தரதோ வதூ⁴பி⁴: ।
ப⁴வத்³வினோதா³லபிதாக்ஷராணி ப்ரபீய நாஜ்ஞாயத மார்க³தை³ர்க்⁴யம் ॥4॥
Meaning
அன:-மனோஜ்ஞ-த்⁴வனி- - of the cart, the pleasant sound; தே⁴னு-பாலீ- - of the rows of the cows; கு²ர-ப்ரணாத-³அந்தரத: - trampling of the hooves, interspersed,; வதூ⁴பி⁴: - by the ladies; ப⁴வத்-வினோத-³ - Thy playfully; ஆலபித-அக்ஷராணி - spoken words; ப்ரபீய ந-அஜ்ஞாயத - drinking in, did not feel; மார்க-³தை³ர்க்⁴யம் - the path's distance;
Translation
The Gopikaas did not feel the distance of the path covered, as they were fully engrossed in Thy playful prattle. The pleasant sound of the cart was interspersed by the trampling sound of the hooves of the rows of the cows.
ஶ்லோக:
நிரீக்ஷ்ய வ்ருந்தா³வனமீஶ நந்த³த்ப்ரஸூனகுந்த³ப்ரமுக²த்³ருமௌக⁴ம் ।
அமோத³தா²: ஶாத்³வலஸாந்த்³ரலக்ஷ்ம்யா ஹரின்மணீகுட்டிமபுஷ்டஶோப⁴ம் ॥5॥
Meaning
நிரீக்ஷ்ய வ்ருந்தா³வனம்- - on seeing Vrindaavana; ஈஶ - O Lord!; நந்த³த்-ப்ரஸூன- - with flowers blossoming; குந்த-³ப்ரமுக-²த்³ரும-ஔக⁴ம் - mainly Kunda and clusters of trees; அமோத³தா²: - (Thou were) delighted; ஶாத்³வல-ஸாந்த்³ர-லக்ஷ்ம்யா - the thick grass with its intense beauty; ஹரின்-மணீ-குட்டிம- - (as though) green emerald inlaid; புஷ்ட-ஶோப⁴ம் - (hence) adding to the beauty;
Translation
O Lord! Thou were delighted to see Vrindaavana. The Kunda flowers were in full bloom and there were clusters of trees all around. Its expansive grass lands had the intense beauty as though green emerald was inlaid.
ஶ்லோக:
நவாகனிர்வ்யூட⁴னிவாஸபே⁴தே³ஷ்வஶேஷகோ³பேஷு ஸுகா²ஸிதேஷு ।
வனஶ்ரியம் கோ³பகிஶோரபாலீவிமிஶ்ரித: பர்யக³லோகதா²ஸ்த்வம் ॥6॥
Meaning
நவாக-னிர்வ்யூட-⁴ - in the form of a half moon (semi circle), having built; நிவாஸ-பே⁴தே³ஷு- - the houses differently; அஶேஷ-கோ³பேஷு - when all the Gopas; ஸுக-²ஆஸிதேஷு - were sitting comfortably; வனஶ்ரியம் - the beauty of the forest; கோ³ப-கிஶோர-பாலீ- - with the group of the young boys of the Gopas; விமிஶ்ரித: - (Thou) mingling with them; பர்யக்-அலோகதா²:-த்வம் - all around admiringly saw Thou;
Translation
The Gopas built their new houses forming a semi-circle, and settled down there and were sitting peacefully and comfortably. Along with the young boys of the Gopas, Thou went about the whole place looking around admiringly, and enjoying the beauty of the forest.
ஶ்லோக:
அராலமார்கா³க³தனிர்மலாபாம் மராலகூஜாக்ருதனர்மலாபாம் ।
நிரந்தரஸ்மேரஸரோஜவக்த்ராம் கலிந்த³கன்யாம் ஸமலோகயஸ்த்வம் ॥7॥
Meaning
அரால-மார்க-³ - in winding ways; ஆக³த்-னிர்மல-ஆபாம் - flowing with clear waters; மரால-கூஜ- - by the swans' cooings; ஆக்ருத-னர்ம-லாபாம் - making the river sound sweet; நிரந்தர-ஸ்மேர- - ever smiling; ஸரோஜ-வக்த்ராம் - lotus faced; கலிந்த-³கன்யாம் - the daughter of Kalinda; ஸமலோகய:-த்வம் - Thou saw;
Translation
Thou saw the daughter of Kalinda, Kaalindi or Yamunaa river which was flowing with clear waters through winding ways. The echoes of the cooing of the swans enhanced the sweet sound of the river. The thick growth of the full blown lotuses was like her ever smiling face.
ஶ்லோக:
மயூரகேகாஶதலோப⁴னீயம் மயூக²மாலாஶப³லம் மணீனாம் ।
விரிஞ்சலோகஸ்ப்ருஶமுச்சஶ்ருங்கை³ர்கி³ரிம் ச கோ³வர்த⁴னமைக்ஷதா²ஸ்த்வம் ॥8॥
Meaning
மயூர-கேகா-ஶத- - with the peacocks' many calls; லோப⁴னீயம் - (which was) resonant; மயூக-²மாலா-ஶப³லம் - by the rays of light's multi colored radiance; மணீனாம் - of the gems; விரிஞ்ச-லோக- - Brahma's abode; ஸ்ப்ருஶம்-உச்ச-ஶ்ருங்கை³: - as though touching with its high peaks; கி³ரிம் ச கோ³வர்த⁴னம்- - and such a mountain Govardhana; ஐக்ஷதா²:-த்வம் - saw Thou;
Translation
Thou also saw the majestic Govardhana mountain. It was attractive by the resonant sound of the calls of the peacocks. It was radiant by the multi colored rays of the gems it contained. Its high peaks were as though touching the abode of Brahmaa.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸமம் ததோ கோ³பகுமாரகைஸ்த்வம் ஸமந்ததோ யத்ர வனாந்தமாகா³: ।
ததஸ்ததஸ்தாம் குடிலாமபஶ்ய: கலிந்தஜ³ாம் ராக³வதீமிவைகாம் ॥9॥
Meaning
ஸமம் தத: - with, then,; கோ³பகுமாரகை:- - the Gopa boys; த்வம் ஸமந்தத: யத்ர - Thou all around where ever; வனாந்தம்-ஆகா³: - to the end of the forest went; தத:-தத:- - there, there; தாம் குடிலாம்- - her winding; அபஶ்ய: கலிந்தஜ³ாம் - Thou saw the river Yamunaa; ராக³வதீம்-இவ-ஐகாம் - love-lorn like, in solitude;
Translation
Then with the Gopa boys where ever Thou went, even to the end of the forest, Thou came across the winding course of the Yamunaa river, as though she was a love-lorn damsel, waiting to meet Thee in solitude.
ஶ்லோக:
ததா²விதே⁴ஸ்மின் விபினே பஶவ்யே ஸமுத்ஸுகோ வத்ஸக³ணப்ரசாரே ।
சரன் ஸராமோத² குமாரகைஸ்த்வம் ஸமீரகே³ஹாதி⁴ப பாஹி ரோகா³த் ॥1௦॥
Meaning
ததா²-விதே⁴- - in that kind of; அஸ்மின் விபினே - this forest; பஶவ்யே - suited for the cattle; ஸமுத்ஸுக: - very excited; வத்ஸக³ண-ப்ரசாரே - in the calves's tending; சரன்-ஸராம:-அத² - moving about with Balaraama, then; குமாரகை:-த்வம் - and with the young boys, Thou; ஸமீரகே³ஹாதி⁴ப - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; பாஹி ரோகா³த் - protect me from illness;
Translation
Thou then with Balaraam and the other young boys with great excitement tended the calves in this forest which was well suited for the cattle. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Protect me from illness.
