ஆலோக்ய ஶைலோத்³த⁴ரணாதி³ரூபம் ப்ரபா⁴வமுச்சைஸ்தவ கோ³பலோகா: ।
விஶ்வேஶ்வரம் த்வாமபி⁴மத்ய விஶ்வே நந்த³ம் ப⁴வஜ்ஜாதகமன்வப்ருச்ச²ன் ॥1॥
Meaning
ஆலோக்ய - seeing; ஶைல-உத்³த⁴ரண- - the lifting of the mountain; ஆதி³-ரூபம் - and other feats (of Thee); ப்ரபா⁴வம்-உச்சை:- - the great powers; தவ - of Thee; கோ³ப-லோகா: - the cowherds,; விஶ்வேஶ்வரம் - the Lord of the Universe; த்வாம்-அபி⁴மத்ய - Thee considering; விஶ்வே நந்த³ம் - all of them to Nanda; ப⁴வத்-ஜாதகம்- - Thy horoscope; அன்வப்ருச்ச²ன் - asked again and again;
Translation
The Gopaalakas witnessed Thy tremendous feats such as the lifting of the mountain and Thy great powers. They considered Thee to be the Lord of the Universe. All of them asked Nanda again and again about Thy horoscope.
ஶ்லோக:
க³ர்கோ³தி³தோ நிர்க³தி³தோ நிஜாய வர்கா³ய தாதேன தவ ப்ரபா⁴வ: ।
பூர்வாதி⁴கஸ்த்வய்யனுராக³ ஏஷாமைதி⁴ஷ்ட தாவத் ப³ஹுமானபா⁴ர: ॥2॥
Meaning
க³ர்க-³உதி³த: - as Garg Muni had said; நிர்க³தி³த: - was told; நிஜாய வர்கா³ய - for his own clansmen; தாதேன தவ ப்ரபா⁴வ: - by Thy father, Thy greatness; பூர்வாதி⁴க: - more than before; த்வயி-அனுராக³ - in Thee love; ஏஷாம்-ஐதி⁴ஷ்ட - for these (people) increased; தாவத் ப³ஹுமானபா⁴ர: - thereafter, also great respect;
Translation
Thy father told his clansmen of what sage Garg had prophesied about Thy greatness. Thence forward their love and also great respect for Thee increased much more than before.
ஶ்லோக:
ததோவமானோதி³ததத்த்வபோ³த:⁴ ஸுராதி⁴ராஜ: ஸஹ தி³வ்யக³வ்யா।
உபேத்ய துஷ்டாவ ஸ நஷ்டக³ர்வ: ஸ்ப்ருஷ்ட்வா பதா³ப்³ஜம் மணிமௌலினா தே ॥3॥
Meaning
தத:-அவமான-உதி³த- - then by disgrace caused; தத்த்வ-போ³த:⁴ - truth realising; ஸுராதி⁴ராஜ: - the lord of the gods, Indra; ஸஹ தி³வ்ய-க³வ்யா - with the celestial cow (Kaamadhenu); உபேத்ய துஷ்டாவ - coming (to Thee) praised; ஸ நஷ்டக³ர்வ: - he whose pride was shattered; ஸ்ப்ருஷ்ட்வா பதா³ப்³ஜம் - touching Thy lotus feet; மணிமௌலினா - (by his) bejewelled crown; தே - Thy (feet);
Translation
Then as a result of being disgraced his pride was shattered and the lord of the gods, Indra realised the truth about Thee. He came to Thee with the divine cow Kaamadhenu, and sang Thy praises. He touched Thy lotus feet with his bejewelled crowned head.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸ்னேஹஸ்னுதைஸ்த்வாம் ஸுரபி⁴: பயோபி⁴ர்கோ³விந்த³னாமாங்கிதமப்⁴யஷிஞ்சத் ।
ஐராவதோபாஹ்ருததி³வ்யக³ங்கா³பாதோ²பி⁴ரிந்த்³ரோபி ச ஜாதஹர்ஷ: ॥4॥
Meaning
ஸ்னேஹ-ஸ்னுதை:- - with love overflowing (as milk); த்வாம் ஸுரபி⁴: பயோபி⁴:- - Thee, Surabhi (Kaamadhenu) with milk; கோ³விந்த-³னாம- - (Thee) with the name Govind; அங்கிதம்-அப்⁴யஷிஞ்சத் - marked and anointed; ஐராவத-உபாஹ்ருத- - (and) by Airaavata brought; தி³வ்ய-க³ங்கா³- - with the celestial Ganges; பாதோ²பி⁴:-இந்த்³ர:-அபி - waters Indra also; ச (அபி⁴ஷிஞ்சத்) - and (anointed) (Thee); ஜாத-ஹர்ஷ: - delightfully;
Translation
The divine cow Kaamadhenu anointed Thee with her milk overflowing with love for Thee and so Thou were named 'Govinda', the Lord of cows. Airaavata the elephant of Indra brought the waters of the celestial Ganges and Indra also anointed Thee with it delightfully.
ஶ்லோக:
ஜக³த்த்ரயேஶே த்வயி கோ³குலேஶே ததா²பி⁴ஷிக்தே ஸதி கோ³பவாட: ।
நாகேபி வைகுண்ட²பதே³ப்யலப்⁴யாம் ஶ்ரியம் ப்ரபேதே³ ப⁴வத: ப்ரபா⁴வாத் ॥5॥
Meaning
ஜக³த்த்ரய-ஈஶே - O Lord of the three Worlds; த்வயி கோ³குலேஶே - (when) Thou as the Lord of Gokula; ததா²-அபி⁴ஷிக்தே ஸதி - thus were anointed; கோ³பவாட: - Gokula,; நாகே-அபி - in heaven also; வைகுண்ட²பதே³-அபி- - in Vaikuntha also; அலப்⁴யாம் ஶ்ரியம் - unattainable, (such) prosperity; ப்ரபேதே³ ப⁴வத: ப்ரபா⁴வாத் - attained by Thy grace;
Translation
O Lord of the three worlds! Thou were anointed as the Lord of Gokula. By Thy grace and glory, Gokula attained a prosperity unknown and unheard of in either the heavens or even in Vaikuntha.
ஶ்லோக:
கதா³சித³ந்தர்யமுனம் ப்ரபா⁴தே ஸ்னாயன் பிதா வாருணபூருஷேண ।
நீதஸ்தமானேதுமகா³: புரீம் த்வம் தாம் வாருணீம் காரணமர்த்யரூப: ॥6॥
Meaning
கதா³சித்- - once; அந்தர்-யமுனம் - in the river Yamunaa; ப்ரபா⁴தே ஸ்னாயன் பிதா - very early in the morning bathing, (Thy) father; வாருண-பூருஷேண - by Varuna's emissary; நீத:-தம்-ஆனேதும்- - was taken away, him to bring back; அகா³: புரீம் - (Thou) went to the city; த்வம் தாம் வாருணீம் - Thou ,of Varuna; காரண-மர்த்ய-ரூப: - (to fulfill the) purpose of human form;
Translation
Once very early in the morning, Thy father was bathing in the river Yamunaa. He was taken away by the emissary of Varuna. To bring him back and also to fulfill the purpose of Thy taking human form, Thou went to the city of Varuna .
ஶ்லோக:
ஸஸம்ப்⁴ரமம் தேன ஜலாதி⁴பேன ப்ரபூஜிதஸ்த்வம் ப்ரதிக்³ருஹ்ய தாதம் ।
உபாக³தஸ்தத்க்ஷணமாத்மகே³ஹம் பிதாவத³த்தச்சரிதம் நிஜேப்⁴ய: ॥7॥
Meaning
ஸஸம்ப்⁴ரமம் - with great surprise; தேன ஜலாதி⁴பேன - by him, the Lord of the waters; ப்ரபூஜித:-த்வம் - was well worshipped Thou; ப்ரதிக்³ருஹ்ய தாதம் - taking (Thy) father; உபாக³த:- - returned; தத்-க்ஷணம்- - at once; ஆத்ம-கே³ஹம் - to Thy own house; பிதா-அவத³த்- - father said; தத்-சரிதம் - that incident; நிஜேப்⁴ய: - to his clansmen;
Translation
The Lord of the waters, Varuna, was taken by surprise at Thy unexpected appearance. Thou were well worshipped by him. Thou immediately returned home with Thy father. Thy father, Nanda, later narrated this incident to his clansmen.
ஶ்லோக:
ஹரிம் வினிஶ்சித்ய ப⁴வந்தமேதான் ப⁴வத்பதா³லோகனப³த்³த⁴த்ருஷ்ணான் ॥
நிரீக்ஷ்ய விஷ்ணோ பரமம் பத³ம் தத்³து³ராபமன்யைஸ்த்வமதீ³த்³ருஶஸ்தான் ॥8॥
Meaning
ஹரிம் வினிஶ்சித்ய - as Hari knowing with certainty; ப⁴வந்தம்-ஏதான் - Thee, to them; ப⁴வத்-பத-³ஆலோகன- - Thy state (of bliss) to see; ப³த்³த-⁴த்ருஷ்ணான் - tied by (such a) thirst; நிரீக்ஷ்ய விஷ்ணோ - seeing, O All pervading Lord!; பரமம் பத³ம் தத்- - supreme state that; து³ராபம்-அன்யை:- - not easily attainable by others; த்வம்-அதீ³த்³ருஶ:-தான் - Thou showed to them;
Translation
The Gopas were convinced that Thou were definitely Hari Himself. O All pervading Lord! They were tied with the intense thirst of having a direct experience of Thy Supreme State. Thou showed them that state which is not attainable to men without devotion.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸ்பு²ரத்பரானந்த³ரஸப்ரவாஹப்ரபூர்ணகைவல்யமஹாபயோதௌ⁴ ।
சிரம் நிமக்³னா: க²லு கோ³பஸங்கா⁴ஸ்த்வயைவ பூ⁴மன் புனருத்³த்⁴ருதாஸ்தே ॥9॥
Meaning
ஸ்பு²ரத்- - shining; பரானந்த³ரஸ- - (with) supreme bliss nectar; ப்ரவாஹ-ப்ரபூர்ண- - flow, full of it; கைவல்ய-மஹாபயோதௌ⁴ - (in the) liberation's great ocean; சிரம் நிமக்³னா: - for long immersed; க²லு கோ³பஸங்கா⁴:- - indeed the Gopas; த்வயா-ஏவ பூ⁴மன் - by Thee only, O Infinite One!; புன:-உத்³த்⁴ருதா:-தே - again were taken out, they;
Translation
The great ocean of liberation was full and overflowing and lustrous with the supreme blissful nectar. The groups of Gopas were indeed immersed in it for long. O Infinite One! By Thee alone they were drawn back to their worldly state of consciousness.
ஶ்லோக:
கரப³த³ரவதே³வம் தே³வ குத்ராவதாரே
நிஜபத³மனவாப்யம் த³ர்ஶிதம் ப⁴க்திபா⁴ஜாம் ।
ததி³ஹ பஶுபரூபீ த்வம் ஹி ஸாக்ஷாத் பராத்மா
பவனபுரனிவாஸின் பாஹி மாமாமயேப்⁴ய: ॥1௦॥
Meaning
கர-ப³த³ர-வத்-ஏவம் - in hand a berry like thus; தே³வ குத்ர-அவதாரே - O Lord! In which incarnation; நிஜ-பத³ம்-அனவாப்யம் - Thy own abode (which is) unattainable; த³ர்ஶிதம் ப⁴க்திபா⁴ஜாம் - is shown to the devotees; தத்-இஹ பஶுபரூபீ - so here, in the cowherd form; த்வம் ஹி ஸாக்ஷாத் - Thou indeed, in reality are; பராத்மா - Supreme Lord!; பவனபுரனிவாஸின் - O Dweller of Guruvaayura!; பாஹி மாம்- - save me; ஆமயேப்⁴ய: - from ailments;
Translation
O Lord! Thy unattainable abode was revealed to the devotees with such ease and clearly as a berry in one's palm. In which other incarnation of Thee has such a thing happened? So, it is certain that here in the form of a cowherd, Thou are the Supreme Self. O Dweller of Guruvaayur! save me from ailments.
