ஶ்லோக:
உபயாதானாம் ஸுத்³ருஶாம் குஸுமாயுத⁴பா³ணபாதவிவஶானாம் ।
அபி⁴வாஞ்சி²தம் விதா⁴தும் க்ருதமதிரபி தா ஜகா³த² வாமமிவ ॥1॥
Meaning
உபயாதானாம் - who had come; ஸுத்³ருஶாம் - the beautiful women; குஸுமாயுத-⁴ - (whom) Cupid's; பா³ண-பாத- - arrows strike; விவஶானாம் - (had made) helpless; அபி⁴வாஞ்சி²தம் - desire; விதா⁴தும் - to fulfil; க்ருதமதி:-அபி - having decided though; தா: ஜகா³த² - to them spoke; வாமம்-இவ - unfavourable like;
Translation
Thou had decided to fulfil the desire of the beautiful women who had come to Thee. They were helpless as they were struck by Cupid's arrow for Thee. Yet Thou first spoke to them in an unfavourable manner.
ஶ்லோக:
க³க³னக³தம் முனினிவஹம் ஶ்ராவயிதும் ஜகி³த² குலவதூ⁴த⁴ர்மம் ।
த⁴ர்ம்யம் க²லு தே வசனம் கர்ம து நோ நிர்மலஸ்ய விஶ்வாஸ்யம் ॥2॥
Meaning
க³க³ன-க³தம் - waiting in the skies; முனி-னிவஹம் - the host of sages; ஶ்ராவயிதும் - to make them hear; ஜகி³த² - (Thou) stated; குல-வதூ⁴-த⁴ர்மம் - the housewives' duties; த⁴ர்ம்யம் க²லு - in accordance of Dharma indeed; தே வசனம் - Thy words; கர்ம து நோ - actions but not; நிர்மலஸ்ய - of Thee who are pure; விஶ்வாஸ்யம் - (are) to be followed;
Translation
To the hearing of the sages assembled in the skies, Thou stated the duties of the housewives, for the benefit of the world. Indeed, Thy words are to be followed for they are in accordance with the Dharma. But the actions of Thee who are ever pure, should not be practiced by others, because Thy actions do not always conform to the good and bad standards of the world.
ஶ்லோக:
ஆகர்ண்ய தே ப்ரதீபாம் வாணீமேணீத்³ருஶ: பரம் தீ³னா: ।
மா மா கருணாஸிந்தோ⁴ பரித்யஜேத்யதிசிரம் விலேபுஸ்தா: ॥3॥
Meaning
ஆகர்ண்ய தே - hearing Thy; ப்ரதீபாம் வாணீம்- - unfavourable speech; ஏணீத்³ருஶ: - the doe eyed damsels; பரம் தீ³னா: - very much grief stricken; மா மா - do not O do not; கருணாஸிந்தோ⁴ - O Thou ocean of compassion; பரித்யஜ-இதி- - forsake thus; அசிரம் - for long; விலேபு:-தா: - pleaded they;
Translation
On hearing Thy unfavourable speech, those doe eyed women were very much grief stricken. For long did they plead saying 'O Thou ocean of compassion, do not, O do not forsake us.'
ஶ்லோக:
தாஸாம் ருதி³தைர்லபிதை: கருணாகுலமானஸோ முராரே த்வம் ।
தாபி⁴ஸ்ஸமம் ப்ரவ்ருத்தோ யமுனாபுலினேஷு காமமபி⁴ரந்தும் ॥4॥
Meaning
தாஸாம் ருதி³தை:- - by their weeping; லபிதை: - (and) pleading; கருணா-ஆகுல- - with pity moved; மானஸ: - Thy mind; முராரே த்வம் - O Slayer of Mur! Thou; தாபி⁴:-ஸமம் - with them; ப்ரவ்ருத்த: - set out; யமுனா-புலினேஷு - on the Yamunaa sand banks; காமம்-அபி⁴ரந்தும் - desiring to sport freely;
Translation
O Thou! Slayer of Mura! Moved with pity by their weeping and pleading, Thou set out to sport freely with them on the sand banks of Yamunaa river.
ஶ்லோக:
சந்த்³ரகரஸ்யந்த³லஸத்ஸுந்த³ரயமுனாதடாந்தவீதீ²ஷு ।
கோ³பீஜனோத்தரீயைராபாதி³தஸம்ஸ்தரோ ந்யஷீத³ஸ்த்வம் ॥5॥
Meaning
சந்த்³ரகர- - the moon light; ஸ்யந்த-³லஸத்- - flowing and shining; ஸுந்த³ர- - beautifully; யமுனா-தடாந்த- - on the Yamunaa banks; வீதீ²ஷு - and the sand banks; கோ³பீஜன- - the Gopikaas; உத்தரீயை:- - (by their) upper garment; ஆபாதி³த-ஸம்ஸ்தர: - spread out bed; ந்யஷீத:³-த்வம் - sat down Thou;
Translation
The sand banks of Yamunaa was lit by beautifully flowing and shining moon light. There Thou sat down on the bed which was made by the Gopikaas by spreading out their upper garment.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸுமது⁴ரனர்மாலபனை: கரஸங்க்³ரஹணைஶ்ச சும்ப³னோல்லாஸை: ।
கா³டா⁴லிங்க³னஸங்கை³ஸ்த்வமங்க³னாலோகமாகுலீசக்ருஷே ॥6॥
Meaning
ஸுமது⁴ர்- - (with) sweet; நர்ம-ஆலபனை: - playful talks; கர-ஸங்க்³ரஹணை:-ச - and by hands holding; சும்ப³ன-உல்லாஸை: - and by the joy of kisses; கா³ட-⁴ஆலிங்க³ன-ஸங்கை³:- - and by close hearty embraces; த்வம்- - Thou; அங்க³னா-லோகம்- - the women folk; ஆகுலீ-சக்ருஷே - delighted immensely;
Translation
By Thy sweet and playful talks, by holding of hands, by the joy of kisses, and by close hearty embraces, Thou delighted the women folk immensely.
ஶ்லோக:
வாஸோஹரணதி³னே யத்³வாஸோஹரணம் ப்ரதிஶ்ருதம் தாஸாம் ।
தத³பி விபோ⁴ ரஸவிவஶஸ்வாந்தானாம் காந்த ஸுப்⁴ருவாமத³தா⁴: ॥7॥
Meaning
வாஸோ-ஹரண-தி³னே - on the day when the clothes were stolen; யத்-வாஸோ-ஹரணம் - that stealing of clothes; ப்ரதிஶ்ருதம் தாஸாம் - was promised to them (to the gopis); தத்-அபி விபோ⁴ - that also O Lord!; ரஸ-விவஶ-ஸ்வாந்தானாம் - to bliss overcome minds; காந்த - O Charming One!; ஸுப்⁴ருவாம்- - (to them) the beautiful eyed ones; அத³தா⁴: - Thou gave (the promise);
Translation
On the day of the stealing of clothes, O Lord! Thou had promised to them the stealing of clothes (the removal of the sense of ego). That also, O charming One! Thou gave to the beautiful eyed women, whose minds were overcome with bliss.
ஶ்லோக:
கந்த³லிதக⁴ர்மலேஶம் குந்த³ம்ருது³ஸ்மேரவக்த்ரபாதோ²ஜம் ।
நந்த³ஸுத த்வாம் த்ரிஜக³த்ஸுந்த³ரமுபகூ³ஹ்ய நந்தி³தா பா³லா: ॥8॥
Meaning
கந்த³லித- - sprouting of; க⁴ர்ம-லேஶம் - perspiration drops(and with); குந்த-³ம்ருது³-ஸ்மேர- - jasmine like soft smile; வக்த்ர-பாதோ²ஜம் - and face like a lotus; நந்த³ஸுத த்வாம் - O Thee the son of Nanda; த்ரிஜக³த்-ஸுந்த³ரம்- - the most resplendent one in the worlds; உபகூ³ஹ்ய - embracing; நந்தி³தா: பா³லா: - were very delighted, the damsels;
Translation
O Son of Nanda! The most resplendent one in the three worlds! Perspiration drops sprouted on Thy body. Thy lotus face was soft with a jasmine like smile. The damsels embracing Thee were very delighted.
ஶ்லோக:
விரஹேஷ்வங்கா³ரமய: ஶ்ருங்கா³ரமயஶ்ச ஸங்க³மே ஹி த்வம் நிதராமங்கா³ரமயஸ்தத்ர புனஸ்ஸங்க³மேபி சித்ரமித³ம் ॥9॥
Meaning
விரஹேஷு- - in separation; அங்கா³ரமய: - (Thou) are like burning charcoal; ஶ்ருங்கா³ரமய:-ச - (and) love embodied; ஸங்க³மே - in union; ஹி த்வம் - indeed are Thou; நிதராம்- - absolutely; அங்க-³அரமய: - O Dear One! (Thou) gave delight; தத்ர புன:- - there again; ஸங்க³மே-அபி - in union also; சித்ரம்-இத³ம் - wonderful it is;
Translation
In separation with Thee, Thou are unbearable as a burning charcoal. In union indeed Thou are an absolute embodiment of love. O Dear One! Wonderful it indeed is that in union also, here again the women were delighted.
ஶ்லோக:
ராதா⁴துங்க³பயோத⁴ரஸாது⁴பரீரம்ப⁴லோலுபாத்மானம் ।
ஆராத⁴யே ப⁴வந்தம் பவனபுராதீ⁴ஶ ஶமய ஸகலக³தா³ன் ॥1௦॥
Meaning
ராதா⁴-துங்க-³பயோத⁴ர- - Raadhaa's bulging breasts; ஸாது⁴-பரீரம்ப-⁴ - nicely (to) embrace; லோலுப-ஆத்மானம் - eager with a mind; ஆராத⁴யே ப⁴வந்தம் - (I) worship Thee; பவனபுராதீ⁴ஶ - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; ஶமய ஸகல-க³தா³ன் - eradicate all the ailments.;
Translation
O Lord of Guruvaayur! I worship Thee who are eager in mind to nicely embrace the bulging breasts of Raadhaa. I pray to Thee to eradicate all the ailments.
