அயி ஸப³ல முராரே பாணிஜானுப்ரசாரை:
கிமபி ப⁴வனபா⁴கா³ன் பூ⁴ஷயந்தௌ ப⁴வந்தௌ ।
சலிதசரணகஞ்ஜௌ மஞ்ஜுமஞ்ஜீரஶிஞ்ஜா-
ஶ்ரவணகுதுகபா⁴ஜௌ சேரதுஶ்சாருவேகா³த் ॥1॥
Meaning
அயி ஸப³ல முராரே - O Thou! Along with Balaraam, O Muraari!; பாணி-ஜானு-ப்ரசாரை: - on hands and knees moving; கிம்-அபி - where not also; ப⁴வன-பா⁴கா³ன் - in the various parts of the house; பூ⁴ஷயந்தௌ ப⁴வந்தௌ - adorning, the two of Thou; சலித-சரண-கஞ்ஜௌ - moving Thy two lotus feet; மஞ்ஜு-மஞ்ஜீர-ஶிஞ்ஜா - the pleasing anklet tinkling (sound); ஶ்ரவண-குதுக-பா⁴ஜௌ - eager to hear, the two of Thou; சேரது:-சாரு-வேகா³த் - moved about charmingly fast;
Translation
O Lord Muraari! Thou and Thy brother Balaraam soon moved about on Thy hands and knees. When Thou moved about, Thou looked so beautiful that it was like your movements adorned the various parts of the house. With Thy movements, Thy ankle trinkets tinkled pleasingly, and so to increase the pleasing sound Thou charmingly moved about with more briskness.

ம்ருது³ ம்ருது³ விஹஸந்தாவுன்மிஷத்³த³ந்தவந்தௌ
வத³னபதிதகேஶௌ த்³ருஶ்யபாதா³ப்³ஜதே³ஶௌ ।
பு⁴ஜக³லிதகராந்தவ்யாலக³த்கங்கணாங்கௌ
மதிமஹரதமுச்சை: பஶ்யதாம் விஶ்வன்ருணாம் ॥2॥
Meaning
ம்ருது³ ம்ருது³ விஹஸந்தௌ- - very gently smiling; உன்மிஷத்-த³ந்தவந்தௌ - (thereby) revealing the teeth; வத³ன-பதித-கேஶௌ - with hair falling on the face; த்³ருஶ்ய-பாதா³ப்³ஜ-தே³ஶௌ - with the lovely sight of the lotus feet; பு⁴ஜ-க³லித-கர-அந்த- - from the arms, slipped down to the hands' end; வ்யால-க³த்-கங்கண-அங்கௌ - and marked by the bracelets; மதிம்-அஹரதம்-உச்சை: - the minds intensely captivating; பஶ்யதாம் விஶ்வன்ருணாம் - of the onlookers (and) of all the people of the world;
Translation
Thy very gentle smile revealed the newly cut teeth. Thy lustrous locks of hair streamed around Thy face. It was a lovely sight to look at Thy lotus feet, and Thy arms, with armlets having slipped down to the wrists which were marked with bracelets. Thou and Thy brother intensely captivated the minds of all the onlookers and also of all the people of the world.
ஶ்லோக:
அனுஸரதி ஜனௌகே⁴ கௌதுகவ்யாகுலாக்ஷே
கிமபி க்ருதனினாத³ம் வ்யாஹஸந்தௌ த்³ரவந்தௌ ।
வலிதவத³னபத்³மம் ப்ருஷ்ட²தோ த³த்தத்³ருஷ்டீ
கிமிவ ந வித³தா⁴தே² கௌதுகம் வாஸுதே³வ ॥3॥
Meaning
அனுஸரதி ஜனௌகே⁴ - being followed by all the people; கௌதுக-வ்யாகுல-ஆக்ஷே - with extremely eager eyes (set on Thee); கிம்-அபி - some sort of; க்ருத-னினாத³ம் - sound (the two of Thou) made; வ்யாஹஸந்தௌ த்³ரவந்தௌ - (then) laughed (then) started running; வலித-வத³ன-பத்³மம் - (then) turning (Thy) lotus face; ப்ருஷ்ட²த: த்³த்த-த்³ருஷ்டீ - casting a look behind; கிம்-இவ ந - what also did not; வித³தா⁴தே² கௌதுகம் - (Thou) cause joyful excitements; வாஸுதே³வ - O Vaasudeva!;
Translation
O Vaasudeva! All the people followed Thee with their eager affectionate eyes set on Thee. As the two of Thou ran, Thou made some screaming sounds, then laughed and ran as Thou turned Thy lotus like faces casting a look at the people behind. What incredible joyful excitement Thou caused when Thou did so!
ஶ்லோக:
த்³ருதக³திஷு பதந்தாவுத்தி²தௌ லிப்தபங்கௌ
தி³வி முனிபி⁴ரபங்கை: ஸஸ்மிதம் வந்த்³யமானௌ ।
த்³ருதமத² ஜனநீப்⁴யாம் ஸானுகம்பம் க்³ருஹீதௌ
முஹுரபி பரிரப்³தௌ⁴ த்³ராக்³யுவாம் சும்பி³தௌ ச ॥4॥
Meaning
த்³ருதக³திஷு - in moving fast; பதந்தௌ-உத்தி²தௌ - falling down, then getting up; லிப்த-பங்கௌ - smeared (stained) with dust (mud); தி³வி - in the heavens; முனிபி⁴:-அபங்கை: - by the taintless sages; ஸஸ்மிதம் வந்த்³யமானௌ - with a smile (watching the two of Thou) being saluted; த்³ருதம்-அத² - quickly then; ஜனநீப்⁴யாம் ஸானுகம்பம் - by the two mothers with great care; க்³ருஹீதௌ - being picked up; முஹு:அபி பரிரப்³தௌ⁴ - and again and again were embraced; த்³ராக்-யுவாம் சும்பி³தௌ ச - soon Thou two were kissed also;
Translation
As Thou two moved fast, Thou fell and got up and were smeared and tainted by mud. The taintless sages in heaven, saw these pranks and smiled at Thee and saluted Thee worshipfully. Then Thou two would be with great care quickly picked up by the two mothers and would be embraced and kissed again and again.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸ்னுதகுசப⁴ரமங்கே தா⁴ரயந்தீ ப⁴வந்தம்
தரலமதி யஶோதா³ ஸ்தன்யதா³ த⁴ன்யத⁴ன்யா ।
கபடபஶுப மத்⁴யே முக்³த⁴ஹாஸாங்குரம் தே
த³ஶனமுகுலஹ்ருத்³யம் வீக்ஷ்ய வக்த்ரம் ஜஹர்ஷ ॥5॥
Meaning
ஸ்னுத-ஸ்னுத-குசப⁴ரம்- - with overflowing and full breasts; அங்கே தா⁴ரயந்தீ ப⁴வந்தம் - in the lap holding Thee; தரலமதி யஶோதா³ - tender hearted Yashodaa; ஸ்தன்யதா³ த⁴ன்யத⁴ன்யா - breast feeding (Thee) was extremely fortunate; கபட-பஶுப மத்⁴யே - O Thou! The seeming cowherd boy! In the middle; முக்³த-⁴ஹாஸ-அங்குரம் - the bewitching smile sprouting; தே த³ஶன-முகுல-ஹ்ருத்³யம் - Thy teeth buds-like charming; வீக்ஷ்ய வக்த்ரம் ஜஹர்ஷ - seeing (Thy) face was filled with delight;
Translation
The tender hearted Yashodaa with overflowing and full breasts, held Thee in her lap and fed Thee. How extremely fortunate and blessed she was as she did so. O Thou! The seeming cowherd boy! In between the feeding Thou smiled bewitchingly, revealing the charming jasmine buds like teeth, and seeing Thy face she was filled with delight.
ஶ்லோக:
தத³னுசரணசாரீ தா³ரகைஸ்ஸாகமாரா-
ந்னிலயததிஷு கே²லன் பா³லசாபல்யஶாலீ ।
ப⁴வனஶுகவிடா³லான் வத்ஸகாம்ஶ்சானுதா⁴வன்
கத²மபி க்ருதஹாஸைர்கோ³பகைர்வாரிதோபூ⁴: ॥6॥
Meaning
தத³னு-சரண-சாரீ - next (when Thou started) on feet walking about; தா³ரகை:-ஸாகம்- - with the other boys; ஆராத்-னிலயததிஷு - in the nearby houses and compounds; கே²லன் - playing; பா³ல-சாபல்ய-ஶாலீ - (with) the natural childish restlessness; ப⁴வன-ஶுக-விடா³லான் - the domestic parrots and cats; வத்ஸகான்-ச- - and the calves; அனுதா⁴வன் கத²ம்-அபி - chasing somehow; க்ருத-ஹாஸை:-கோ³பகை:- - by the gopaas who were laughing; வாரித:-அபூ⁴: - (Thou) were restrained;
Translation
Next, as Thou started to walk about, Thou played with the other boys in the neighbouring houses and compounds with the natural childlike restlessness. The Gopaas witnessed with joyful laughter as Thou also chased the pet parrots, cats and calves of the household and they somehow restrained Thee from doing so.
ஶ்லோக:
ஹலத⁴ரஸஹிதஸ்த்வம் யத்ர யத்ரோபயாதோ
விவஶபதிதனேத்ராஸ்தத்ர தத்ரைவ கோ³ப்ய: ।
விக³லிதக்³ருஹக்ருத்யா விஸ்ம்ருதாபத்யப்⁴ருத்யா
முரஹர முஹுரத்யந்தாகுலா நித்யமாஸன் ॥7॥
Meaning
ஹலத⁴ர-ஸஹித:-த்வம் - along with Haladhara (Balaraam), Thou; யத்ர யத்ர-உபயாத: - where-ever went; விவஶ-பதித-னேத்ரா:- - with helpless (spell bound) watching; தத்ர தத்ர-ஏவ கோ³ப்ய: - there there the Gopis; விக³லித-க்³ருஹ-க்ருத்யா - neglecting their household duties; விஸ்ம்ருத-அபத்ய-ப்⁴ருத்யா - forgetting their children and servants; முரஹர - O Slayer of Mura!; முஹு:-அத்யந்த- - again and again, very much; ஆகுலா நித்யம்-ஆஸன் - excited always were;
Translation
Where so ever that Thou went with Thy elder brother Haldhar, the Gopis helplessly and spell bound kept watching Thee. They even neglected their household chores and forgot all about their children and servants. O Slayer of Mura! They were always so very much excited as this happened again and again.
ஶ்லோக:
ப்ரதினவனவனீதம் கோ³பிகாத³த்தமிச்ச²ன்
கலபத³முபகா³யன் கோமலம் க்வாபி ந்ருத்யன் ।
ஸத³யயுவதிலோகைரர்பிதம் ஸர்பிரஶ்னந்
க்வசன நவவிபக்வம் து³க்³த⁴மப்யாபிப³ஸ்த்வம் ॥8॥
Meaning
ப்ரதினவ-னவனீதம் - fresh butter; கோ³பிகா-த³த்தம்- - by the Gopikas given; இச்ச²ன் கலபத³ம்- - desiring sweet songs; உபகா³யன் - singing; கோமலம் க்வ-அபி - charmingly sometimes; ந்ருத்யன் - dancing; ஸத³ய-யுவதி-லோகை: - by the affectionate young women folk; அர்பிதம் ஸர்பி:-அஶ்னந் - offered butter, eating; க்வசன நவ- விபக்வம் - sometimes freshly boiled; து³க்³த⁴ம்-அபி- - milk also; அபிப:³-த்வம் - drank Thou;
Translation
Thou would sweetly sing and sometimes charmingly dance about with the desire of getting fresh butter. The young women full of affection gave Thee butter which Thou ate and also gave freshly boiled milk which Thou drank with delight.
ஶ்லோக:
மம க²லு ப³லிகே³ஹே யாசனம் ஜாதமாஸ்தா-
மிஹ புனரப³லானாமக்³ரதோ நைவ குர்வே ।
இதி விஹிதமதி: கிம் தே³வ ஸந்த்யஜ்ய யாச்ஞாம்
த³தி⁴க்⁴ருதமஹரஸ்த்வம் சாருணா சோரணேன ॥9॥
Meaning
மம க²லு ப³லி-கே³ஹே - indeed my, in the house of Mahaabali; யாசனம் ஜாதம்-ஆஸ்தாம் - begging was done, let that be; இஹ புன:- - here, again; அப³லானாம்-அக்³ரத: - in front of the ladies; ந-ஏவ குர்வே - I will not do so; இதி விஹித-மதி: - thus deciding; கிம் தே³வ - did Thou O Lord!; ஸந்த்யஜ்ய யச்ஞாம் - giving up begging; த³தி⁴-க்⁴ருதம்- - curd ghee etc; அஹர:-த்வம் - took Thou; சாருணா சோரணேன - by pleasant stealing;
Translation
In the house of Mahaabali I had to go begging. Let that be. Here now in front of these ladies I am not going to do so again.' O Lord! Thus deciding Thou gave up begging for curd and ghee etc and resorted to pleasantly stealing in clever delightful ways.
ஶ்லோக:
தவ த³தி⁴க்⁴ருதமோஷே கோ⁴ஷயோஷாஜனானா-
மபஜ⁴த ஹ்ருதி³ ரோஷோ நாவகாஶம் ந ஶோக: ।
ஹ்ருத³யமபி முஷித்வா ஹர்ஷஸிந்தௌ⁴ ந்யதா⁴ஸ்த்வம்
ஸ மம ஶமய ரோகா³ன் வாதகே³ஹாதி⁴னாத² ॥1௦॥
Meaning
தவ த³தி⁴-க்⁴ருதம்-ஓஷே - Thy, in the curd and ghee stealing; கோ⁴ஷ-யோஷா-ஜனானாம்- - in the cowherds' colony's women folk; அபஜ⁴த ஹ்ருதி³ ரோஷ: - did not entertain in their hearts, anger; ந-அவகாஶம் ந ஶோக: - neither dearth nor sorrow; ஹ்ருத³யம்-அபி முஷித்வா - (their) hearts also stealing; ஹர்ஷ-ஸிந்தௌ⁴ - in the ocean of bliss; ந்யதா⁴:-த்வம் - put them in, Thou; ஸ - That Thou; மம ஶமய ரோகா³ன் - my eradicate ailments; வாதகே³ஹாதி⁴னாத² - O Lord of Guruvaayur!;
Translation
In the cowherds' colony the Gopikas did not have place in their hearts for either anger or sorrow by Thy stealing of butter and ghee etc. They did not even feel any dearth for its being stolen. It was because Thou also stole their hearts and immersed them in the ocean of Bliss. Such Thou O Lord of Guruvaayur! May Thou eradicate my ailments.
ஶ்லோக:
ஶாகா²க்³ரே விது⁴ம் விலோக்ய ப²லமித்ய்ம்பா³ம் ச தாதம் முஹு:
ஸம்ப்ரார்த்²யாத² ததா³ ததீ³யவசஸா ப்ரோத்க்ஷிப்தபா³ஹௌ த்வயி।
சித்ரம் தே³வ ஶஶீ ஸ தே கர்மகா³த் கிம் ப்³ரூமஹே ஸம்பத:
ஜ்யோதிர்மண்ட³லபூரிதாகி²லவபு: ப்ராகா³ விராட்³ரூபதாம் ॥ 11॥
Meaning
ஶாகா²-அக்³ரே-அத² - (at) the branches's front (end) then; விது⁴ம் விலோக்ய - the moon seeing; ப²லம்-இதி-அம்பா³ம் - fruit it is, (to) mother; ச தாதம் முஹு: - and to father again and again; ஸம்ப்ரார்த்²ய-அத² - requesting, then; ததா³ ததீ³ய-வசஸா - at that time, by his (father's)saying; ப்ரோக்ஷிப்த-பா³ஹௌ த்வயி - were flung up the two arms by Thee; சித்ரம் - amazing; தே³வ ஶஶீ ஸ - deity moon that; தே கரம்-அகா³த் - in Thy hands came; கிம் ப்³ரூமஹே ஸம்பத: - what do we say of (Thy) lordliness; ஜ்யோதி:-மண்ட³ல- - the luminous aura; பூரித-அகி²ல-வபு: - covering the whole body; ப்ராகா³ விராட-ரூபம் - attained cosmic form;
Translation
On the front end of the branch of a tree, watching the moon, Thou asked Thy mother and father again and again for it, saying that it was a fruit. At that time, then, going by Thy father's words, when Thou flung Thy two arms,amazingly, the deity moon came into Thy hands! What can we say of Thy splendorous lordliness? Thy whole body was covered by luminous light and Thou attained Thy cosmic form!
ஶ்லோக:
கிம் கிம் ப³தேத³மிதி ஸம்ப்⁴ரம பா⁴ஜமேனம்
ப்³ரஹ்மார்ணவே க்ஷணமமும் பரிமஜ்ஜ்ய தாதம் ।
மாயாம் புனஸ்தனய-மோஹமயீம் விதன்வன்
ஆனந்த³சின்மய ஜக³ன்மய பாஹி ரோகா³த் ॥12॥
Meaning
கிம் கிம் ப³த- - what what, indeed; இத³ம்-இதி ஸம்ப்⁴ரம் - this (is) thus confusion; பா⁴ஜம்-ஏனம் - contained him (father); ப்³ரஹ்ம-அர்ணவே - in the cosmic ocean; க்ஷணம்-அமும் - for a moment him; பரிமஜ்ஜ்ய தாதம் - immersing father; மாயாம் புன:-தனய- - the Maayaa again, of son's; மோஹமயீம் விதன்வன் - enchanting, drawing; ஆனந்த-³சின்மய - bliss, supreme consciousness; ஜக³ன்மய - O Universal form!; பாஹி ரோகா³த் - save from disease;
Translation
'What is all this! indeed!' thus Thy father was a vessel of amazement. Thou immersed him in the cosmic ocean for a moment, then again extended Thy Maayaa, and Thou brought about Thy enchanting form of a son. That, Bliss incarnate,Supreme Consciousness, Cosmic form, O Krishna! save me from disease!
