Meaning
𑌅𑌤𑍀𑌤𑍍𑌯 𑌬𑌾𑌲𑍍𑌯𑌮𑍍 - passing childhood; 𑌜𑌗𑌤𑌾𑌂 𑌪𑌤𑍇 - O Lord of the universe; 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍-𑌉𑌪𑍇𑌤𑍍𑌯 - Thou attained; 𑌪𑍌𑌗𑌂𑌡-𑌵𑌯𑌃 𑌮𑌨𑍋𑌜𑍍𑌞𑌮𑍍 - the boyhood age (which was very) charming; 𑌉𑌪𑍇𑌕𑍍𑌷𑍍𑌯 𑌵𑌤𑍍𑌸𑌾𑌵𑌨𑌮𑍍- - giving up tending the calves; 𑌉𑌤𑍍𑌸𑌵𑍇𑌨 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌵𑌰𑍍𑌤𑌥𑌾 - enthusiastically got into; 𑌗𑍋-𑌗𑌣-𑌪𑌾𑌲𑌨𑌾𑌯𑌾𑌮𑍍 - the looking after of the herd of cows;

Translation
O Lord of the universe! Having passed childhood Thou attained the charming age of boyhood (6 to 10 years). Then Thou gave up the tending of the calves and enthusiastically promoted to herding cows and cattle.

𑌉𑌪𑌕𑍍𑌰𑌮𑌸𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌨𑍁𑌗𑍁𑌣𑍈𑌵 𑌸𑍇𑌯𑌂 𑌮𑌰𑍁𑌤𑍍𑌪𑍁𑌰𑌾𑌧𑍀𑌶 𑌤𑌵 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌵𑍃𑌤𑍍𑌤𑌿𑌃 ।
𑌗𑍋𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌪𑌰𑌿𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌣𑌕𑍃𑌤𑍇𑌽𑌵𑌤𑍀𑌰𑍍𑌣𑌸𑍍𑌤𑌦𑍇𑌵 𑌦𑍇𑌵𑌾𑌽𑌽𑌰𑌭𑌥𑌾𑌸𑍍𑌤𑌦𑌾 𑌯𑌤𑍍 ॥2॥

Meaning
𑌉𑌪𑌕𑍍𑌰𑌮𑌸𑍍𑌯- - for the beginning; 𑌅𑌨𑍁𑌗𑍁𑌣-𑌏𑌵 - it was proper indeed; 𑌸𑌾-𑌇𑌯𑌂 - that this; 𑌮𑌰𑍁𑌤𑍍𑌪𑍁𑌰𑌾𑌧𑍀𑌶 - O Lord of Guruvaayur; 𑌤𑌵 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌵𑍃𑌤𑍍𑌤𑌿𑌃 - Thy occupation (because); 𑌗𑍋𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌾-𑌪𑌰𑌿𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌣- - (for) the earth's protection; 𑌕𑍃𑌤𑍇-𑌅𑌵𑌤𑍀𑌰𑍍𑌣𑌃- - as the purpose, was Thy incarnation; 𑌤𑌤𑍍-𑌏𑌵 - that itself; 𑌦𑍇𑌵-𑌆𑌰𑌭𑌥𑌾𑌃- - O Lord Thou started; 𑌤𑌦𑌾 𑌯𑌤𑍍 - then because;

Translation
O Lord! This occupation that Thou took up was the fit and proper beginning for the work which lay ahead. O Lord of Guruvaayur! Thy incarnation was for the protection of 'Gotra', the earth, and tending 'Gotras', the cows, was a first step towards that end.

𑌶𑍍𑌲𑍋𑌕𑌃
𑌕𑌦𑌾𑌪𑌿 𑌰𑌾𑌮𑍇𑌣 𑌸𑌮𑌂 𑌵𑌨𑌾𑌂𑌤𑍇 𑌵𑌨𑌶𑍍𑌰𑌿𑌯𑌂 𑌵𑍀𑌕𑍍𑌷𑍍𑌯 𑌚𑌰𑌨𑍍 𑌸𑍁𑌖𑍇𑌨 ।

𑌕𑌦𑌾𑌪𑌿 𑌰𑌾𑌮𑍇𑌣 𑌸𑌮𑌂 - once along with Balaraam; 𑌵𑌨𑌾𑌂𑌤𑍇 - in the end of the woods; 𑌵𑌨𑌶𑍍𑌰𑌿𑌯𑌂 𑌵𑍀𑌕𑍍𑌷𑍍𑌯 - the beauty of the woods admiring; 𑌚𑌰𑌨𑍍 𑌸𑍁𑌖𑍇𑌨 - and roaming about happily; 𑌶𑍍𑌰𑍀𑌦𑌾𑌮-𑌨𑌾𑌮𑍍𑌨𑌃 - by the name of Shreedaamaa; 𑌸𑍍𑌵𑌸𑌖𑌸𑍍𑌯 𑌵𑌾𑌚𑌾 - Thy friend's suggestion; 𑌮𑍋𑌦𑌾𑌤𑍍-𑌅𑌗𑌾𑌃 - with joy went; 𑌧𑍇𑌨𑍁𑌕-𑌕𑌾𑌨𑌨𑌂 - to the Dhenuka forest; 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 - Thou;

Translation
Once, with Balaraam, as Thou were happily roaming about in the woods and admiring the beauty of the woods, on Thy friend Sudaamaa's suggestion, Thou enthusiastically entered the Dhenuka forest.

𑌉𑌤𑍍𑌤𑌾𑌲𑌤𑌾𑌲𑍀𑌨𑌿𑌵𑌹𑍇 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌦𑍁𑌕𑍍𑌤𑍍𑌯𑌾 𑌬𑌲𑍇𑌨 𑌧𑍂𑌤𑍇𑌽𑌥 𑌬𑌲𑍇𑌨 𑌦𑍋𑌰𑍍𑌭𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌮𑍍 ।

𑌉𑌤𑍍𑌤𑌾𑌲-𑌤𑌾𑌲𑍀-𑌨𑌿𑌵𑌹𑍇 - (when) the tall palm tree clusters; 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌉𑌕𑍍𑌤𑍍𑌯𑌾 - at Thy words; 𑌬𑌲𑍇𑌨 𑌧𑍂𑌤𑍇-𑌅𑌥 - by Balaraam was shaken, then,; 𑌬𑌲𑍇𑌨 𑌦𑍋𑌰𑍍𑌭𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌮𑍍 - with the force of both the hands; 𑌮𑍃𑌦𑍁𑌃 𑌖𑌰𑌃-𑌚- - soft/ripe and hard/unripe; 𑌅𑌭𑍍𑌯𑌪𑌤𑌤𑍍-𑌪𑍁𑌰𑌸𑍍𑌤𑌾𑌤𑍍 - fell down in front; 𑌫𑌲-𑌉𑌤𑍍𑌕𑌰𑌃 - a bunch of fruits; 𑌧𑍇𑌨𑍁𑌕-𑌦𑌾𑌨𑌵𑌃-𑌅𑌪𑌿 - the Dhenuka demon also; (𑌖𑌰𑌃-𑌚 𑌅𑌭𑍍𑌯𑌪𑌤𑌤𑍍) - (as a donkey appeared);

Translation
At Thy words, Balaraam shook the cluster of tall palm trees with the force of both his strong arms. A bunch of soft and ripe and hard and unripe fruits fell in front of Thee. Just then, the demon Dhenukaasura, in the form of a donkey also appeared.

𑌶𑍍𑌲𑍋𑌕𑌃
𑌸𑌮𑍁𑌦𑍍𑌯𑌤𑍋 𑌧𑍈𑌨𑍁𑌕𑌪𑌾𑌲𑌨𑍇𑌽𑌹𑌂 𑌕𑌥𑌂 𑌵𑌧𑌂 𑌧𑍈𑌨𑍁𑌕𑌮𑌦𑍍𑌯 𑌕𑍁𑌰𑍍𑌵𑍇 ।
𑌇𑌤𑍀𑌵 𑌮𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾 𑌧𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌵𑌮𑌗𑍍𑌰𑌜𑍇𑌨 𑌸𑍁𑌰𑍌𑌘𑌯𑍋𑌦𑍍𑌧𑌾𑌰𑌮𑌜𑍀𑌘𑌨𑌸𑍍𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 ॥5॥

Meaning
𑌸𑌮𑍁𑌦𑍍𑌯𑌤𑌃 - engaged in; 𑌧𑍈𑌨𑍁𑌕-𑌪𑌾𑌲𑌨𑍇-𑌅𑌹𑌂 - the cows' protection, I; 𑌕𑌥𑌂 - how; 𑌵𑌧𑌂 𑌧𑍈𑌨𑍁𑌕𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌦𑍍𑌯 - (can I) kill Dhenuka (even though just a namesake) now; 𑌕𑍁𑌰𑍍𑌵𑍇 𑌇𑌤𑌿-𑌇𑌵 - do so , thus like that; 𑌮𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾 - thinking; 𑌧𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌵𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌗𑍍𑌰𑌜𑍇𑌨 - certainly by Thy elder brother; 𑌸𑍁𑌰𑍌𑌘-𑌯𑍋𑌦𑍍𑌧𑌾𑌰𑌮𑍍- - the enemy of the gods; 𑌅𑌜𑍀𑌘𑌨𑌃-𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 - caused to be killed Thou;

Translation
I am engaged in protecting the cows (Dhenuka), how can I now kill the Dhenuka (cow) asura?' Thus interpreting, as it were, Thou made Balaraam Thy elder brother kill Dhenukaasura who was an enemy of the gods.

𑌤𑌦𑍀𑌯𑌭𑍃𑌤𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌨𑌪𑌿 𑌜𑌂𑌬𑍁𑌕𑌤𑍍𑌵𑍇𑌨𑍋𑌪𑌾𑌗𑌤𑌾𑌨𑌗𑍍𑌰𑌜𑌸𑌂𑌯𑍁𑌤𑌸𑍍𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 ।

𑌤𑌦𑍀𑌯-𑌭𑍃𑌤𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌨𑍍-𑌅𑌪𑌿 - his (Dhenukaasura's) servants also; 𑌜𑌂𑌬𑍁𑌕𑌤𑍍𑌵𑍇𑌨-𑌉𑌪𑌾𑌗𑌤𑌾𑌨𑍍- - (who were) as jackals and had come; 𑌅𑌗𑍍𑌰𑌜-𑌸𑌂𑌯𑍁𑌤𑌃-𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 - along with Thy elder brother Thou; 𑌜𑌂𑌬𑍁-𑌫𑌲𑌾𑌨𑌿-𑌇𑌵 - like black-berries; 𑌤𑌦𑌾 𑌨𑌿𑌰𑌾𑌸𑍍𑌥𑌃- - then smashed; 𑌤𑌾𑌲𑍇𑌷𑍁 𑌖𑍇𑌲𑌨𑍍 - on the palm trees as mere play; 𑌭𑌗𑌵𑌨𑍍 - O Lord; 𑌨𑌿𑌰𑌾𑌸𑍍𑌥𑌃 - effortlessly;

Translation
Dhenukaasura's servants had also come in the form of jackals. O Lord! Thou and Thy elder brother, as if in mere play, smashed them effortlessly against the palm trees as though they were mere black-berries.

𑌵𑌿𑌨𑌿𑌘𑍍𑌨𑌤𑌿 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌯𑍍𑌯𑌥 𑌜𑌂𑌬𑍁𑌕𑍌𑌘𑌂 𑌸𑌨𑌾𑌮𑌕𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾𑌦𑍍𑌵𑌰𑍁𑌣𑌸𑍍𑌤𑌦𑌾𑌨𑍀𑌮𑍍 ।

𑌵𑌿𑌨𑌿𑌘𑍍𑌨𑌤𑌿 - when killing; 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌯𑌿 𑌅𑌥 - Thou (were) then; 𑌜𑌂𑌬𑍁𑌕-𑌔𑌘𑌂 - the pack of jackals; 𑌸𑌨𑌾𑌮𑌕𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾𑌤𑍍- - because of having the same name; 𑌵𑌰𑍁𑌣𑌃-𑌤𑌦𑌾𑌨𑍀𑌮𑍍 - Varuna, then; 𑌭𑌯𑌾𑌕𑍁𑌲𑌃 - out of fear; 𑌜𑌂𑌬𑍁𑌕-𑌨𑌾𑌮-𑌧𑍇𑌯𑌂 - his name 'Jambuka'; 𑌶𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌤𑌿-𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌸𑌿𑌦𑍍𑌧𑌂 𑌵𑍍𑌯𑌧𑌿𑌤- - famous in the Vedas, hid it (in the Vedas only); 𑌇𑌤𑌿 𑌮𑌨𑍍𑌯𑍇 - this I believe;

Translation
Then when Thou were killing the pack of jackals, Jambukas, Varuna, the water god, whose name is famous in the Vedas as Jambuka, hid it in the Vedas only, for the fear of being killed. I believe that it is for this reason that Varuna's name as 'Jambuka' is not known.

𑌤𑌵-𑌅𑌵𑌤𑌾𑌰𑌸𑍍𑌯 𑌫𑌲𑌂 - Thy incarnation's results; 𑌮𑍁𑌰𑌾𑌰𑍇 - O Slayer of Mura!; 𑌸𑌂𑌜𑌤𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌦𑍍𑌯- - has appeared now; 𑌇𑌤𑌿 𑌸𑍁𑌰𑍈𑌃-𑌨𑍁𑌤𑌃 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 - thus by the gods, being praised, Thou; 𑌸𑌤𑍍𑌯𑌂 𑌫𑌲𑌂 - truly fruit; 𑌜𑌾𑌤𑌮𑍍-𑌇𑌹-𑌇𑌤𑌿 - is born here thus; 𑌹𑌾𑌸𑍀 𑌬𑌾𑌲𑍈𑌃 𑌸𑌮𑌂 - laughingly (saying) with the boys; 𑌤𑌾𑌲 𑌫𑌲𑌾𑌨𑌿- - the palm fruits; 𑌅𑌭𑍁𑌂𑌕𑍍𑌥𑌾𑌃 - ate;

Translation
O Slayer of Mura! The gods praised Thee saying that the fruit of Thy incarnation has now appeared. Thou laughingly said that 'indeed the fruits of the palm tree have been got now', and saying so, ate the fruits with the boys.

𑌮𑌧𑍁𑌦𑍍𑌰𑌵𑌸𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌂𑌤𑌿 𑌬𑍃𑌹𑌂𑌤𑌿 𑌤𑌾𑌨𑌿 𑌫𑌲𑌾𑌨𑌿 𑌮𑍇𑌦𑍋𑌭𑌰𑌭𑍃𑌂𑌤𑌿 𑌭𑍁𑌕𑍍𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾 ।

𑌮𑌧𑍁𑌦𑍍𑌰𑌵-𑌸𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌂𑌤𑌿 - with honey like juice dripping; 𑌬𑍃𑌹𑌂𑌤𑌿 𑌤𑌾𑌨𑌿 𑌫𑌲𑌾𑌨𑌿 - those large fruits; 𑌮𑍇𑌦𑍋𑌭𑌰-𑌭𑍃𑌂𑌤𑌿 - full of flesh; 𑌭𑍁𑌕𑍍𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾 𑌤𑍃𑌪𑍍𑌤𑍈𑌃-𑌚 - having eaten and satisfied; 𑌦𑍃𑌪𑍍𑌤𑍈𑌃-𑌭𑌵𑌨𑌂 - and triumphant, to the house; 𑌫𑌲𑍌𑌘𑌂 𑌵𑌹𑌦𑍍𑌭𑌿𑌃- - loads of fruit carrying; 𑌆𑌗𑌾𑌃 𑌖𑌲𑍁 - returned indeed; 𑌬𑌾𑌲𑌕𑍈𑌃-𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 - with the boys, Thou;

Translation
Thou ate the nectar like juice dripping luscious and fleshy fruits with the boys to Thy heart's content. Fully satisfied and triumphant Thou returned to the house carrying along loads of such fruits.
