𑌹𑌿𑌰𑌣𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌕𑍍𑌷𑌂 𑌤𑌾𑌵𑌤𑍍- - to Hiranyaaksha, then; 𑌵𑌰𑌦 - O Bestower of boons!; 𑌭𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌅𑌣𑍍𑌵𑍇𑌷𑌣𑌪𑌰𑌮𑍍 - who was searching for Thee (and); 𑌚𑌰𑌂𑌤𑌂 𑌸𑌾𑌂𑌵𑌰𑍍𑌤𑍇 𑌪𑌯𑌸𑌿 - who was running around in the waters of deluge; 𑌨𑌿𑌜-𑌜𑌂𑌘𑌾-𑌪𑌰𑌿𑌮𑌿𑌤𑍇 - which was reaching his thighs; 𑌭𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌭𑌕𑍍𑌤𑌃 𑌗𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾 - Thy devotee approaching (Hiranyaaksha); 𑌕𑌪𑌟𑌪𑌟𑍁𑌧𑍀𑌃-𑌨𑌾𑌰𑌦𑌮𑍁𑌨𑌿𑌃 - Naarada muni who was a diplomatic missionary; 𑌶𑌨𑍈𑌃-𑌊𑌚𑍇 - calmly spoke (to Hiranyaaksha); 𑌨𑌂𑌦𑌨𑍍 𑌦𑌨𑍁𑌜𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌪𑌿 - pleasing the Asura; 𑌨𑌿𑌂𑌦𑌨𑍍-𑌤𑌵 𑌬𑌲𑌮𑍍 - and denigrating Thy prowess;

Translation
O Bestower of Boons! Then Thy devotee, the sage Naarada who is skillfully diplomatic in furthering Thy purposes, approached Hiranyaaksha, who was running about searching for Thee, in the cosmic waters which barely reached his knees. Naarada calmly spoke to him, praising him and undermining Thy prowess.

Meaning
𑌸𑌃 𑌮𑌾𑌯𑌾𑌵𑍀 𑌵𑌿𑌷𑍍𑌣𑍁𑌃- - "that deceitful Vishnu; 𑌹𑌰𑌤𑌿 𑌭𑌵𑌦𑍀𑌯𑌾𑌂 𑌵𑌸𑍁𑌮𑌤𑍀𑌂 - is stealing away your own earth; 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌭𑍋 - O Mighty One!; 𑌕𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌂 𑌕𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌂 𑌕𑌿𑌮𑍍-𑌇𑌦𑌮𑍍-𑌇𑌤𑌿 - what a pity, how is it so", thus; 𑌤𑍇𑌨-𑌅𑌭𑌿𑌗𑌦𑌿𑌤𑌃 - by him (Naarada) was said; 𑌨𑌦𑌨𑍍 𑌕𑍍𑌵-𑌅𑌸𑍌 - roaring "Where is he; 𑌕𑍍𑌵-𑌅𑌸𑍌-𑌇𑌤𑌿 - where is he", thus; 𑌸 𑌮𑍁𑌨𑌿𑌨𑌾 - he (the Asura) by the Muni; 𑌦𑌰𑍍𑌶𑌿𑌤-𑌪𑌥𑌃 - was shown the way; 𑌭𑌵𑌂𑌤𑌂 𑌸𑌂𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌪𑌤𑍍- - reached Thee; 𑌧𑌰𑌣𑌿-𑌧𑌰𑌮𑍍- - (Thee who was) holding up the earth; 𑌉𑌦𑍍𑌯𑌂𑌤𑌮𑍍-𑌉𑌦𑌕𑌾𑌤𑍍 - coming up from the waters;

Translation
When Naarada told the mighty Hiranyaaksh that the deceitful Vishnu was stealing away his own earth and how was it so , Hiranyaaksha with a roar asked where he was, where he was. Thus, following the direction given by the sage, he reached Thee, as Thou were rising up from the waters with the earth.

𑌅𑌹𑍋 𑌆𑌰𑌣𑍍𑌯𑌃-𑌅𑌯𑌂 𑌮𑍃𑌗 - "O this is only a wild animal"; 𑌇𑌤𑌿 𑌹𑌸𑌂𑌤𑌂 - thus ridiculing with; 𑌬𑌹𑍁𑌤𑌰𑍈𑌃-𑌦𑍁𑌰𑍁𑌕𑍍𑌤𑍈𑌃-𑌵𑌿𑌧𑍍𑌯𑌂𑌤𑌂 - and many abuses lashing out; 𑌦𑌿𑌤𑌿𑌸𑍁𑌤𑌮𑍍- - the son of Diti (the Asura); 𑌅𑌵𑌜𑍍𑌞𑌾𑌯 𑌭𑌗𑌵𑌨𑍍 - ignoring (Thee) O Lord; 𑌮𑌹𑍀𑌂 𑌦𑍃𑌷𑍍𑌟𑍍𑌵𑌾 - seeing the earth; 𑌦𑌂𑌷𑍍𑌟𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌶𑌿𑌰𑌸𑌿 - at the tip of the tusks; 𑌚𑌕𑌿𑌤𑌾𑌂 - (the earth) trembling; 𑌸𑍍𑌵𑍇𑌨 𑌮𑌹𑌸𑌾 - by Thy power; 𑌪𑌯𑍋𑌧𑍌-𑌆𑌧𑌾𑌯 - (then) placing (the earth) in the ocean; 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌸𑌭𑌮𑍍- - at once; 𑌉𑌦𑌯𑍁𑌂𑌕𑍍𑌥𑌾 - (Thou) did prepare; 𑌮𑍃𑌧𑌵𑌿𑌧𑍌 - for a fight;

Translation
O Lord! Thou ignored the ridiculing words of the Asura that this is only a wild animal and the many abuses hurled by him. Thou saw the earth trembling in fear at the tip of Thy tusk and so placed her firmly on the ocean by Thy power. Then Thou at once were ready for a fight.

𑌗𑌦𑌾𑌪𑌾𑌣𑍌 𑌦𑍈𑌤𑍍𑌯𑍇 - the Asura armed with a mace; 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌪𑌿 𑌹𑌿 - Thou also indeed; 𑌗𑍃𑌹𑍀𑌤-𑌉𑌨𑌂𑌤-𑌗𑌦𑌃 - flourishing a mighty mace; 𑌨𑌿𑌯𑍁𑌦𑍍𑌧𑍇𑌨 𑌕𑍍𑌰𑍀𑌡𑌨𑍍 - by a dual (fight) as though sporting (the clashing of maces); 𑌘𑌟-𑌘𑌟-𑌰𑌵-𑌉𑌦𑍍𑌘𑍁𑌷𑍍𑌟-𑌵𑌿𑌯𑌤𑌾 - resounding the sky with fierce sound; 𑌰𑌣-𑌆𑌲𑍋𑌕-𑌔𑌤𑍍𑌸𑍁𑌕𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌤𑍍- - with the eagerness to see the fight; 𑌮𑌿𑌲𑌤𑌿 𑌸𑍁𑌰𑌸𑌂𑌘𑍇 - when the hosts of gods assembled; 𑌦𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌤𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌮𑍁𑌂 𑌨𑌿𑌰𑍁𑌂𑌧𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌃 - quickly kill this (Asura); 𑌸𑌂𑌧𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌤𑌃 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌥𑌮𑌮𑍍- - before evening; 𑌇𑌤𑌿 𑌧𑌾𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌾 𑌜𑌗𑌦𑌿𑌷𑍇 - thus Thou were requested by Brahmaa;

Translation
As the Asura was armed with a mace, Thou too flourished a mighty mace and sportingly gave him battle. As the clang of the clashing maces resounded in the sky, the hosts of gods assembled eagerly to see the dual. Brahmaa cried out requesting Thee to kill the Asura before nightfall.

𑌗𑌦𑍋𑌨𑍍𑌮𑌰𑍍𑌦𑍇 𑌤𑌸𑍍𑌮𑌿𑌨𑍍- - in that fight with the maces; 𑌤𑌵 𑌖𑌲𑍁 𑌗𑌦𑌾𑌯𑌾𑌂 - (when) Thy mace indeed; 𑌦𑌿𑌤𑌿𑌭𑍁𑌵𑌃 - (and) of the Asura's; 𑌗𑌦𑌾-𑌘𑌾𑌤𑌾𑌤𑍍- - by a blow of the mace; 𑌭𑍂𑌮𑍌 𑌝𑌟𑌿𑌤𑌿 𑌪𑌤𑌿𑌤𑌾𑌯𑌾𑌮𑍍- - on the ground suddenly fell; 𑌅𑌹𑌹 𑌭𑍋𑌃 - what a wonder O Lord!; 𑌮𑍃𑌦𑍁𑌸𑍍𑌮𑍇𑌰-𑌆𑌸𑍍𑌯𑌃-𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 - with a gentle smile on Thy face, Thou; 𑌦𑌨𑍁𑌜𑌕𑍁𑌲-𑌨𑌿𑌰𑍍𑌮𑍂𑌲𑌚𑌣𑌮𑍍 - famous as the destroyer of the entire Asura race; 𑌮𑌹𑌾𑌚𑌕𑍍𑌰𑌂 𑌸𑍍𑌮𑍃𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾 - (that) great discus invoking (Sudarshana); 𑌕𑌰𑌭𑍁𑌵𑌿 𑌦𑌧𑌾𑌨𑍋 - in the palms of Thy hands holding; 𑌰𑍁𑌰𑍁𑌚𑌿𑌷𑍇 - looked magnificent;

Translation
During that combat, the Asura's stroke suddenly knocked down Thy mace to the ground. With a smile on Thy face Thou invoked Thy discus (Sudarshana) which is well known for slaying of the race of the Asuras. Thou looked magnificent as the invoked discus placed itself in Thy hands.

𑌤𑌤𑌃 𑌶𑍂𑌲𑌮𑍍 - then, a trident; 𑌕𑌾𑌲𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌤𑌿𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌰𑍁𑌷𑌿 𑌦𑍈𑌤𑍍𑌯𑍇 - angry like Rudra the Destroyer, when the Asura; 𑌵𑌿𑌸𑍃𑌜𑌤𑌿 - threw (the trident); 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌯𑌿 𑌛𑌿𑌂𑌦𑌤𑌿- - Thou broke; 𑌏𑌨𑌤𑍍 - this (trident); 𑌕𑌰-𑌕𑌲𑌿𑌤-𑌚𑌕𑍍𑌰-𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌹𑌰𑌣𑌾𑌤𑍍 - by the blow of the discus held in Thy hand; 𑌸𑌮𑌾𑌰𑍁𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌃 - greatly enraged; 𑌮𑍁𑌷𑍍𑌟𑍍𑌯𑌾 𑌸 𑌖𑌲𑍁 - with (his) fist he indeed; 𑌵𑌿𑌤𑍁𑌦𑌨𑍍-𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾𑌮𑍍 - hitting Thee; 𑌸𑌮𑌤𑌨𑍋𑌤𑍍 𑌗𑌲𑌨𑍍𑌮𑌾𑌯𑍇 - did employ against Thee, who are beyond, the effects of Maya; 𑌮𑌾𑌯𑌾𑌃 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌯𑌿 𑌕𑌿𑌲 - Maaya on Thee indeed; 𑌜𑌗𑌤𑍍-𑌮𑍋𑌹𑌨𑌕𑌰𑍀𑌃 - (Maya) whose tricks can deceive the whole world;

Translation
The Asura who was angry as the Destroyer Rudra, threw his trident at Thee, and Thou broke it with the discus in Thy hands.Greatly enraged he hit Thee with his fist and also employed tricks of Maya against Thee,which may deceive the whole world but does not effect Thee who are above all Maya.

Meaning
𑌭𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌚𑌕𑍍𑌰-𑌜𑍍𑌯𑍋𑌤𑌿𑌷𑍍-𑌕𑌣-𑌲𑌵-𑌨𑌿𑌪𑌾𑌤𑍇𑌨 - being hit by a powerful spark of Thy divine discus; 𑌵𑌿𑌧𑍁𑌤𑍇 - were destroyed; 𑌤𑌤𑌃 𑌮𑌾𑌯𑌾-𑌚𑌕𑍍𑌰𑍇 - then (when) the illusion created by the Asura; 𑌵𑌿𑌤𑌤-𑌘𑌨-𑌰𑍋𑌷-𑌅𑌂𑌧-𑌮𑌨𑌸𑌮𑍍 - whose mind was blinded by intense rage; 𑌗𑌰𑌿𑌷𑍍𑌠𑌾𑌭𑌿𑌃-𑌮𑍁𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌿-𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌹𑍃𑌤𑌿𑌭𑌿𑌃- - with strong blows of his fist; 𑌅𑌭𑌿𑌘𑍍𑌨𑌂𑌤𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌸𑍁𑌰𑌮𑍍 - the Asura who was hitting Thee; 𑌸𑍍𑌵-𑌪𑌾𑌦-𑌅𑌙𑍁𑌗𑍁𑌷𑍍𑌠𑍇𑌨 - with Thy big toe; 𑌶𑍍𑌰𑌵𑌣-𑌪𑌦-𑌮𑍂𑌲𑍇 - at the base of (his) ear; 𑌨𑌿𑌰𑌵𑌧𑍀𑌃 - Thou did strike;

Translation
When the illusions created by the Asura were all dispersed being hit by a powerful spark of Thy divine discus, the Asura's mind was overcome by intense rage. He then attacked Thee with strong blows of his heavy fists, whereupon Thou struck him with a powerful blow with Thy big toe at the base of his ear.

Meaning
𑌮𑌹𑌾𑌕𑌾𑌯𑌃 𑌸𑌃-𑌅𑌯𑌮𑍍 - that Asura of gigantic proportions; 𑌤𑌵 𑌚𑌰𑌣-𑌪𑌾𑌤-𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌮𑌥𑌿𑌤𑌃 - by the blow of Thy foot crushed; 𑌗𑌲𑌤𑍍-𑌰𑌕𑍍𑌤𑌃 𑌵𑌕𑍍𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌤𑍍- - with blood flowing out of his mouth; 𑌅𑌪𑌤𑌤𑍍- - fell; 𑌋𑌷𑌿𑌭𑌿𑌃 𑌶𑍍𑌲𑌾𑌘𑌿𑌤-𑌹𑌤𑌿𑌃 - the sages praised his slaying; 𑌤𑌦𑌾 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾𑌮𑍍- - then to Thee; 𑌉𑌦𑍍𑌦𑌾𑌮-𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌮𑌦𑌭𑌰-𑌵𑌿𑌦𑍍𑌯𑍋𑌤𑌿-𑌹𑍃𑌦𑌯𑌾 - with their hearts full and brimming with joy; 𑌮𑍁𑌨𑍀𑌂𑌦𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌃 - the great sages; 𑌸𑌾𑌂𑌦𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌭𑌿𑌃 𑌸𑍍𑌤𑍁𑌤𑌿𑌭𑌿𑌃- - with verses full of deep meaning; 𑌅𑌨𑍁𑌵𑌨𑍍- - praised; 𑌅𑌧𑍍𑌵𑌰-𑌤𑌨𑍁𑌮𑍍 - O Thou! The Embodiment of Yajna;

Translation
That gigantic Asura crushed by the powerful blow of Thy foot, fell down with blood flowing out of his mouth. The sages praised his slaying. O Thou! Who are the embodiment of Yajna! As they did so their hearts were full and brimming with joy. They sang hymns with deep meaning.

𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌚𑌿 𑌛𑌂𑌦𑌃 - in Thy skin are the Vedic Metres; 𑌰𑍋𑌮𑌸𑍁-𑌅𑌪𑌿 𑌕𑍁𑌶𑌗𑌣𑌃- - Thy hair are the Kush grass; 𑌚𑌕𑍍𑌷𑍁𑌷𑌿 𑌘𑍃𑌤𑌮𑍍 - Thy eyes are ghee; 𑌚𑌤𑍁𑌰𑍍𑌹𑍋𑌤𑌾𑌰𑌃-𑌅𑌂𑌘𑍍𑌰𑍌 - Thy feet are the four sacrificing priests; 𑌸𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌗𑍍-𑌅𑌪𑌿 𑌵𑌦𑌨𑍇 - Thy face is 'sruk' (the ladle used for offering); 𑌚-𑌉𑌦𑌰 𑌇𑌡𑌾 - and Thy stomach the 'ida' (the vessel used for keeping the ingredients for offering); 𑌗𑍍𑌰𑌹𑌾 𑌜𑌿𑌹𑍍𑌵𑌾𑌯𑌾𑌂 𑌤𑍇 - Thy tongue the soma pot; 𑌪𑌰𑌪𑍁𑌰𑍁𑌷 - O Infinite Lord!; 𑌕𑌰𑍍𑌣𑍇 𑌚 𑌚𑌮𑌸𑌾 - Thy ears are the chamasas (vessel used for keeping the sacrificial remnants); 𑌵𑌿𑌭𑍋 - O Lord!; 𑌸𑍋𑌮𑍋 𑌵𑍀𑌰𑍍𑌯𑌮𑍍 - Thy virility is Soma; 𑌵𑌰𑌦 - O Bestower of Boons!; 𑌗𑌲𑌦𑍇𑌶𑍇-𑌅𑌪𑌿-𑌉𑌪𑌸𑌦𑌃 - in Thy neck are the sacrifices called 'Upasat' (the subsidiary rites);

Translation
O Infinite Lord! In Thy skin are the Vedic Mantras, Thy hair are the 'kush' grass, Thy eyes are the ghee, Thy feet are the four sacrificing priests, Thy face is 'sruk',( the ladle for sacrifice) and Thy stomach is the 'Ida' (the vessel which holds the sacrificial ingredients), Thy tongue is the soma pot. O Lord! Thy ears are the chamasas (the vessel which holds the sacrificial remnants) and Thy virility is soma. O Bestower of Boons! in Thy neck are the sacrifices called Upasat, (the subsidiary rites). Thou are the embodiment of the holy Yagna.

O Lord of Guruvaayur! O Destroyer of Madhu! Delighted with the hymns of the sages Thou shone with Thy huge and adorable form and taintless glory and retired to Thy abode of Vaikunth, revelling in Thy innate Bliss. May Thou be pleased to eradicate all my ailments.
