Meaning
𑌕𑌦𑌾𑌚𑌿𑌤𑍍- - once; 𑌗𑍋𑌪𑌾𑌲𑌾𑌨𑍍 - (when) the cowherds; 𑌵𑌿𑌹𑌿𑌤-𑌮𑌖- - (had) collected for the Yagya; 𑌸𑌂𑌭𑌾𑌰-𑌵𑌿𑌭𑌵𑌾𑌨𑍍 - the requisite materials many (of them); 𑌨𑌿𑌰𑍀𑌕𑍍𑌷𑍍𑌯 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌂 - seeing this, Thou; 𑌶𑍌𑌰𑍇 - O Shauri!; 𑌮𑌘𑌵-𑌮𑌦𑌮𑍍- - Indra's pride; 𑌉𑌦𑍍𑌧𑍍𑌵𑌂𑌸𑌿𑌤𑍁-𑌮𑌨𑌾𑌃 - to humble, desiring; 𑌵𑌿𑌜𑌾𑌨𑌨-𑌅𑌪𑌿-𑌏𑌤𑌾𑌨𑍍 - knowing though these (preparations); 𑌵𑌿𑌨𑌯-𑌮𑍃𑌦𑍁 - politely and softly; 𑌨𑌂𑌦-𑌆𑌦𑌿-𑌪𑌶𑍁𑌪𑌾𑌨𑍍- - to Nanda and other cowherds; 𑌅𑌪𑍃𑌚𑍍𑌛𑌃 - asked; 𑌕𑌃 𑌵𑌾-𑌅𑌯𑌂 - (for) what or this; 𑌜𑌨𑌕 𑌭𑌵𑌤𑌾𑌮𑍍- - O Father! (is) your; 𑌉𑌦𑍍𑌯𑌮 𑌇𑌤𑌿 - effort thus;

Translation
O Shauri! Once the cowherds were collecting the requisite material to perform a Yagya to appease Indra. Thou wanted to humble the pride of Indra. In spite of knowing what the preparations were for, Thou, in full humility and politeness asked Nanda and the other cowherds, 'O Father what is this your effort for?'

𑌵𑌿𑌶𑍇𑌷𑌾𑌦𑌸𑍍𑌮𑌾𑌕𑌂 𑌤𑍃𑌣𑌸𑌲𑌿𑌲𑌜𑍀𑌵𑌾 𑌹𑌿 𑌪𑌶𑌵𑌃 ॥2॥

Meaning
𑌬𑌭𑌾𑌷𑍇 𑌨𑌂𑌦𑌃-𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾𑌮𑍍 - said Nanda to Thee; 𑌸𑍁𑌤 𑌨𑌨𑍁 - O son! Indeed; 𑌵𑌿𑌧𑍇𑌯𑌃 𑌮𑌘𑌵𑌤𑌃 - has to be performed for Indra; 𑌮𑌖𑌃 𑌵𑌰𑍍𑌷𑍇 𑌵𑌰𑍍𑌷𑍇 - Yagya every year; 𑌸𑍁𑌖𑌯𑌤𑌿 𑌸 - gives happiness he; 𑌵𑌰𑍍𑌷𑍇𑌣 𑌪𑍃𑌥𑌿𑌵𑍀𑌮𑍍 - by rain to the earth; 𑌨𑍃𑌣𑌾𑌂 𑌵𑌰𑍍𑌷𑌾𑌯𑌤𑍍𑌤𑌮𑍍 - of human beings, on rain depends; 𑌨𑌿𑌖𑌿𑌲𑌮𑍍-𑌉𑌪𑌜𑍀𑌵𑍍𑌯𑌮𑍍 - all livelihood; 𑌮𑌹𑌿𑌤𑌲𑍇 - on the earth; 𑌵𑌿𑌶𑍇𑌷𑌾𑌤𑍍-𑌅𑌸𑍍𑌮𑌾𑌕𑌮𑍍 - particularly for us; 𑌤𑍃𑌣-𑌸𑌲𑌿𑌲-𑌜𑍀𑌵𑌾 - (on) grass (and) water live; 𑌹𑌿 𑌪𑌶𑌵𑌃 - indeed the cows;

Translation
Nanda told Thee, 'O son! A yagya has to be performed for Indra every year. He gives happiness to the earth by rain. The livelihood of all human beings on earth depends on rain. Especially so for us, because our cattle live on grass and water alone.'

𑌇𑌤𑌿 𑌶𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾 - this hearing; 𑌵𑌾𑌚𑌂 𑌪𑌿𑌤𑍁𑌃- - words of father; 𑌅𑌯𑌿 𑌭𑌵𑌾𑌨𑍍-𑌆𑌹 - O Thou said; 𑌸𑌰𑌸𑌂 - (with) reasoning; 𑌧𑌿𑌕𑍍-𑌏𑌤𑌤𑍍-𑌨𑍋 𑌸𑌤𑍍𑌯𑌂 - oh this is not true; 𑌮𑌘𑌵-𑌜𑌨𑌿𑌤𑌾 - by Indra (is) generated; 𑌵𑍃𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌿𑌃-𑌇𑌤𑌿 𑌯𑌤𑍍 - rain, to say so; 𑌅𑌦𑍃𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌂 𑌜𑍀𑌵𑌾𑌨𑌾𑌂 - unseen (past actions) of the living beings; 𑌸𑍃𑌜𑌤𑌿 𑌖𑌲𑍁 - generates indeed; 𑌵𑍃𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌿𑌂 𑌸𑌮𑍁𑌚𑌿𑌤𑌾𑌂 - the rain required; 𑌮𑌹𑌾-𑌅𑌰𑌣𑍍𑌯𑍇 - in the big forest; 𑌵𑍃𑌕𑍍𑌷𑌾𑌃 𑌕𑌿𑌮𑍍-𑌇𑌵 - the trees what like; 𑌬𑌲𑌿𑌮𑍍-𑌇𑌂𑌦𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌯 - offerings for Indra; 𑌦𑌦𑌤𑍇 - (do) give?;

Translation
O Lord! Hearing this, Thou said with sweet reasoning, 'Oh no, this is not true, to say that the rain is generated by Indra. Rain is generated by the unseen past actions of the living beings, as required. In this big forest, what kind of offerings do the trees give to Indra?'

𑌤𑌤𑌸𑍍𑌤𑍇𑌽𑌪𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌰𑌾𑌧𑍍𑌯𑌾 𑌇𑌤𑌿 𑌜𑌗𑌦𑌿𑌥 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌂 𑌨𑌿𑌜𑌜𑌨𑌾𑌨𑍍 ॥4॥

𑌇𑌦𑌂 𑌤𑌾𑌵𑌤𑍍 𑌸𑌤𑍍𑌯𑌂 - this then is true; 𑌯𑌤𑍍-𑌇𑌹 𑌪𑌶𑌵𑌃 - that here the cows; 𑌨𑌃 𑌕𑍁𑌲-𑌧𑌨𑌂 - (are our) tribe's wealth; 𑌤𑌤𑍍-𑌆𑌜𑍀𑌵𑍍𑌯𑌾𑌯- - so for their livelihood; 𑌅𑌸𑍌-𑌬𑌲𑌿𑌃 - this offering; 𑌅𑌚𑌲-𑌭𑌰𑍍𑌤𑍍𑌰𑍇 - to the great mountain; 𑌸𑌮𑍁𑌚𑌿𑌤𑌃 - is appropriate; 𑌸𑍁𑌰𑍇𑌭𑍍𑌯𑌃-𑌅𑌪𑌿- - than the gods also; 𑌉𑌤𑍍𑌕𑍃𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌾 𑌨𑌨𑍁 - greater are indeed; 𑌧𑌰𑌣𑌿-𑌦𑍇𑌵𑌾𑌃 - holy men; 𑌕𑍍𑌷𑌿𑌤𑌿𑌤𑌲𑍇 𑌤𑌤𑌃- - on the earth, therefore; 𑌤𑍇-𑌅𑌪𑌿-𑌆𑌰𑌾𑌧𑍍𑌯𑌾 - they also deserve to be worshipped; 𑌇𑌤𑌿 𑌜𑌗𑌦𑌿𑌥 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌮𑍍 - thus said Thou; 𑌨𑌿𑌜-𑌜𑌨𑌾𑌨𑍍 - to Thy people;

Thou said to Thy people,'this is true that the cows are the wealth of our tribe. This mountain (Govardhana) provides them with their requisite grass and water. So the offerings should be made to the mountain. The holy men on the earth are indeed more great than the gods, so they also deserve to be worshipped.'

Translation
Hearing Thy words the cowherds also worshipped the holy men with high regards. They made rich and plentiful offerings to the mountain. They performed circumambulation and prostrated again and again with great reverence. Thou becoming the soul of the mountain ate all the entire offerings in front of the cowherds.

Meaning
𑌅𑌵𑍋𑌚𑌃-𑌚-𑌏𑌵𑌂 𑌤𑌾𑌨𑍍 - said and thus to them; 𑌕𑌿𑌮𑍍-𑌇𑌹 𑌵𑌿𑌤𑌥𑌂 𑌮𑍇 - what there false by me; 𑌨𑌿𑌗𑌦𑌿𑌤𑌂 - was said; 𑌗𑌿𑌰𑍀𑌂𑌦𑍍𑌰𑌃 𑌨𑌨𑍁 𑌏𑌷 - the mountain indeed this; 𑌸𑍍𑌵-𑌬𑌲𑌿𑌮𑍍-𑌉𑌪𑌭𑍁𑌂𑌕𑍍𑌤𑍇 - his offerings (given to him) is eating; 𑌸𑍍𑌵-𑌵𑌪𑍁𑌷𑌾 - by his own body; 𑌅𑌯𑌂 𑌗𑍋𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌃 - this mountain; 𑌗𑍋𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌦𑍍𑌵𑌿𑌷𑌿 𑌚 - (when) the enemy of the mountains (Indra); 𑌕𑍁𑌪𑌿𑌤𑍇 - gets angry; 𑌰𑌕𑍍𑌷𑌿𑌤𑍁𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌲𑌂 - to protect is enough; 𑌸𑌮𑌸𑍍𑌤𑌾𑌨𑍍- - everybody; 𑌇𑌤𑌿-𑌉𑌕𑍍𑌤𑌾 - thus being said to; 𑌜𑌹𑍃𑌷𑍁𑌃-𑌅𑌖𑌿𑌲𑌾 - were happy all of them; 𑌗𑍋𑌕𑍁𑌲-𑌜𑍁𑌷𑌃 - Gokula's inhabitants;

Translation
Thou told them 'Was I wrong? This mountain has physically consumed all our offerings. Even if the enemy of mountains, Indra is angry, this mountain is capable of protecting everyone.' All the inhabitants of Gokula were happy on hearing this.

𑌪𑌰𑌿𑌪𑍍𑌰𑍀𑌤𑌾 - in jubilation; 𑌯𑌾𑌤𑌾𑌃 𑌖𑌲𑍁 - went indeed; 𑌭𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌉𑌪𑍇𑌤𑌾 - you accompanying; 𑌵𑍍𑌰𑌜𑌜𑍁𑌷𑌃 𑌵𑍍𑌰𑌜𑌂 - the inhabitants of Vraja to Vraja; 𑌯𑌾𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌤𑌾𑌵𑌤𑍍- - when then; 𑌨𑌿𑌜-𑌮𑌖-𑌵𑌿𑌭𑌂𑌗𑌂 - (his) own Yagya stoppage; 𑌨𑌿𑌶𑌮𑌯𑌨𑍍 - hearing; 𑌭𑌵𑌂𑌤𑌂 𑌜𑌾𑌨𑌨𑍍-𑌅𑌪𑌿- - Thee knowing also; 𑌅𑌧𑌿𑌕-𑌰𑌜𑌸𑌾- - (because of) preponderance of Rajoguna; 𑌆𑌕𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌂𑌤-𑌹𑍃𑌦𑌯𑌃 - with an overcome mind; 𑌨 𑌸𑍇𑌹𑍇 𑌦𑍇𑌵𑍇𑌂𑌦𑍍𑌰𑌃- - did not tolerate Indra; 𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌉𑌪𑌰𑌚𑌿𑌤- - by Thee ordained; 𑌆𑌤𑍍𑌮-𑌉𑌨𑍍𑌨𑌤𑌿𑌃-𑌅𑌪𑌿 - his own exhaultation also;

Translation
The inhabitants of Vraja, in a jubilant mood returned to Vraja with Thee. Then, when Indra heard of his yagya being stopped he did not tolerate it because his mind was overcome by the preponderance of Rajo Guna. Indra knew Thee well and was also aware that his own high position was ordained by Thee, yet he was enraged.

Meaning
𑌮𑌨𑍁𑌷𑍍𑌯𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌂 𑌯𑌾𑌤𑌃 - human form taking; 𑌮𑌧𑍁𑌭𑌿𑌤𑍍-𑌅𑌪𑌿 - the destroyer of the demon Madhu (MahaaVishnu) also; 𑌦𑍇𑌵𑍇𑌷𑍁-𑌅𑌵𑌿𑌨𑌯𑌂 - towards the gods disrespect; 𑌵𑌿𑌧𑌤𑍍𑌤𑍇 𑌚𑍇𑌤𑍍- - shows if; 𑌨𑌷𑍍𑌟𑌃-𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌿𑌦𑌶𑌸𑌦𑌸𑌾𑌂 - is lost of all the gods; 𑌕𑌃-𑌅𑌪𑌿 𑌮𑌹𑌿𑌮𑌾 - what ever prestige; 𑌤𑌤𑌃-𑌚 𑌧𑍍𑌵𑌂𑌸𑌿𑌷𑍍𑌯𑍇 - and so will destroy; 𑌪𑌶𑍁𑌪-𑌹𑌤𑌕𑌸𑍍𑌯 - (this) lowly cowherd's; 𑌶𑍍𑌰𑌿𑌯𑌮𑍍-𑌇𑌤𑌿 - all prosperity, thus; 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌵𑍃𑌤𑍍𑌤𑌃-𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌾𑌂 𑌜𑍇𑌤𑍁𑌂 - setting out, Thou to win; 𑌸 𑌕𑌿𑌲 𑌮𑌘𑌵𑌾 - he indeed Indra; 𑌦𑍁𑌰𑍍𑌮𑌦-𑌨𑌿𑌧𑌿𑌃 - false pride full of;

Translation
Indra was full of false pride and set out to win Thee. He reasoned that even if it was Vishnu himself, the slayer of Madhu, in human form, if he shows disrespect to the gods, what ever their prestige, would be lost. So he made up his mind to destroy the lowly cowherd (Krishna) and all his prosperity, and to win Thee.

𑌤𑍍𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌆𑌵𑌾𑌸𑌂 𑌹𑌂𑌤𑍁𑌂 - Thy residence (Vraja) to destroy; 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌲𑌯-𑌜𑌲𑌦𑌾𑌨𑍍- - deluge causing clouds; 𑌅𑌂𑌬𑌰-𑌭𑍁𑌵𑌿 - in the skies' surface; 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌹𑌿𑌣𑍍𑌵𑌨𑍍 - releasing; 𑌬𑌿𑌭𑍍𑌰𑌾𑌣𑌃 𑌕𑍁𑌲𑌿𑌶𑌮𑍍- - taking thunderbolt; 𑌅𑌯𑌮𑍍-𑌅𑌭𑍍𑌰𑍇𑌭-𑌗𑌮𑌨𑌃 - this (Indra) Airaavat riding; 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌤𑌸𑍍𑌥𑍇-𑌅𑌨𑍍𑌯𑍈𑌃-𑌅𑌂𑌤𑌃- - set out with others, inside (in their minds); 𑌦𑌹𑌨-𑌮𑌰𑍁𑌤-𑌆𑌦𑍍𑌯𑍈𑌃- - (like) fire (Agni), wind (Vaayu) etc.,; 𑌵𑌿𑌹𑌂𑌸𑌿𑌤𑌃 - being scorned; 𑌭𑌵𑌤𑍍-𑌮𑌾𑌯𑌾 - Thy Maayaa; 𑌨-𑌏𑌵 - does not indeed; 𑌤𑍍𑌰𑌿𑌭𑍁𑌵𑌨𑌪𑌤𑍇 - O Lord of three worlds; 𑌮𑍋𑌹𑌯𑌤𑌿 𑌕𑌮𑍍 - delude whom;

Translation
To destroy Thy residence Vraja, Indra released deluge causing clouds in the skies. He took along thunderbolt and set out riding on his white elephant Airaavata. He was accompanied by other gods, fire(Agni), wind(Vaayu),etc., who slyly scorned him. O Lord of three worlds! whom does not Thy Maayaa afflict?

𑌸𑍁𑌰𑍇𑌂𑌦𑍍𑌰𑌃 𑌕𑍍𑌰𑍁𑌦𑍍𑌧𑌃-𑌚𑍇𑌤𑍍 - Indra gets angry, in case; 𑌦𑍍𑌵𑌿𑌜-𑌕𑌰𑍁𑌣𑌯𑌾 - by the holy men's grace; 𑌶𑍈𑌲-𑌕𑍃𑌪𑌯𑌾-𑌅𑌪𑌿- - by the mountain's grace also; 𑌅𑌨𑌾𑌤𑌂𑌕𑌃- - fearlessness; 𑌅𑌸𑍍𑌮𑌾𑌕𑌮𑍍 - is ours; 𑌨𑌿𑌯𑌤 𑌇𑌤𑌿 - certainly thus; 𑌵𑌿𑌶𑍍𑌵𑌾𑌸𑍍𑌯 𑌪𑌶𑍁𑌪𑌾𑌨𑍍 - convincing the cowherds; 𑌅𑌹𑍋 - O Alas!; 𑌕𑌿𑌮𑍍-𑌨-𑌆𑌯𑌾𑌤𑌃 - what, he has not come (yet); 𑌗𑌿𑌰𑌿𑌭𑌿𑌦𑍍-𑌇𑌤𑌿 - Indra thus; 𑌸𑌂𑌚𑌿𑌂𑌤𑍍𑌯 𑌨𑌿𑌵𑌸𑌨𑍍 - thinking ,waiting; 𑌮𑌰𑍁𑌦𑍍𑌗𑍇𑌹𑌾𑌧𑍀𑌶 - O Lord of Guruvaayur!; 𑌪𑍍𑌰𑌣𑍁𑌦 𑌮𑍁𑌰𑌵𑍈𑌰𑌿𑌨𑍍 - eradicate, O Slayer of Mura; 𑌮𑌮 𑌗𑌦𑌾𑌨𑍍 - my ailments;

Translation
Even if Indra is angry, we are fearless by the grace of the holy men and by the grace of the mountain,' saying so Thou certainly convinced the cowherds. Then Thou stood waiting and wondering why Indra had not yet come. O Lord of Guruvaayur! O Slayer of Mura! do eradicate my ailments.
